I can't decide to give this place a 3 or 4, but for how cool the vibe is I will give it a 4. There is a stage and they claim to have live music 365 days a year. I'm not sure if that is true since that means they open every single day and never close. not sure. However, the menu is limited. Typical bar food. I would say come here for the atmosphere, life music, but not for the food. I had a lime cheese cake and it was ok. Also they charge $5 cover. Just keep that in mind. It's added to the bill. The place does need a good cleaning. Everything is a bit sticky. The floor, chairs, table, etc are all sticky. I'm sure they wipe, but it needs some good cleaning. Anyways, it's a cool spot to come, chill, and enjoy the music. read more

Now, I've had some bad drinks in my life. One of them ended in a knife fight, another in a shooting, and one time they even hauled me off to jail. Nobody got shot this time, nobody got cut, and nobody was arrested--but the drink was still bad enough to bring back the memories. Then Memphis put the cherry on top with a fifteen-percent liquor-by-the-drink tax. Fifteen percent! You'd think at that rate they'd at least throw in a chaser. But no, just the bill. Lord have mercy, Memphis, even Baptists get a better deal than that. read more

Went on Saturday night and Freeworld was playing (Friday & Saturdays). Great sound and it was kicked up even better when the woman vocalist joined (wish I remembered her name) as she had a killer voice! We didn't eat anything but came for drinks and the music. We were not disappointed. read more

Just wow. The doorman was bored, the live music was way too loud and just... not entertaining- more disruptive than everything. The server was awful too. She rang in a burger wrong, told us she rang it in as a single, but charged us for a double. Charged us for two side that was supposed to come with the meal. There were only two ketchups in the entire restaurant and the salt was stopped up because of moisture so we had to take the cap off. On top of being charged for two sides, she didn't bring them out until the second time we asked about them. Then dropped our check after five minutes after those sides arrived. She was insanely unprofessional- Sitting at the table next to us, her vape on the table, and listening to her phone on full volume. It was a poor experience all around and definitely a disappointment. read more

I'm really sad that I wasn't able to see this place in full swing. Our trip to Memphis was just a day. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see this place at night. So I had to settle for lunch. Let's be real Memphis has nothing to cater to someone who does not eat meat . The smell of the barbecue was everywhere driving me absolutely bonkers. I wanted to eat meat so bad . I was strongly considering it. I wish it was that easy. I ended up eating mushrooms and french fries here. We had a really pretty white Waitress . I can't remember her name. Friendly enough, but she just didn't pay too much attention to us . Now the black employee without the bra on. She was amazing ! She went above and beyond to help us, and she wasn't even our Waitress attention management. We love her! I will definitely return to this legendary location on Beale Street! Stumbled upon this place while exploring Beale Street after visiting Graceland. We were quite hungry and it was difficult finding a place with vegan, gluten free options for me. The place is casual with lots of tables/chairs, a bar and 2 stages. The washrooms were divey. There are guitars hanging from the ceilings and dollar bills on the walls along with writing, etc. We had the absolute best server I have ever experienced. Jalia (sorry if its spelled wrong) was kind, friendly and very helpful with a constant smile. She knew my needs of gluten free and vegan and she crafted a salad specially for me. It could have used a better dressing than just oil and vinegar but I had polished off a side of fries so it was fine. The others shared a rib dinner and two others got chicken sraps and Jalia ensured there was no pesto as one guest had a nut allergy. Our lemonade was tasty and topped up without asking. Went to Rum Boogie Cafe twice only because of excellent band, Freeworld the first night and equally as good, Baunie and Soul, the second nigh. Food wise, It's not a place to have proper dinner. I ordered their catfish which was dry; seemed like it's been reheated several times. Had upset stomach that night.On the second night, just ordered pork sliders to share which was dry ; supposed to come with coleslaw and onion rings but it didn't so we had to ask the server and so she came back with a small plastic container ( approximately 1 tablespoon) of coleslaw and no onion ring so had to ask for it again, then the server came back with one onion rin. At that time we just said to forget it. When we got the bill, there was tax on the cover charge even when we paid cash. I addressed it with the manager and just said they had to charge convenience fee somehow but told him I paid cash and he just shrugged his shoulders and didn't do anything. We left Rum Boogie Cafe to eat somewhere else and saw Freeword playing in another restaurant without cover charge. Needless to say, we'll never go back to this restaurant again, read more

Forget BB's and the Peabody pigeons, this is where you start your Beale street adventure!!! Let the others try to compare! Except for all the pawn shop reject guitars that adorn the walls with stars names precariously attached to them as a symbolic tribute, this is the real Beale street... Grab a chair and start tapping your feet until you feel the need to dance ... boogie DOWN!! Was there for an hour, server was good. We were about to close our check when we heard the door guy say to people coming in that they were taking a $5 cover. Our check had the cover charge on it... I'm a musician and I understand cover charge to pay the band, but that is some . The owner of the bar was standing by the door being asked about by some others and to say he was dismissive of the people who had just patronized his business is putting it really mildly. Lots of choices on Beale, beware. read more

Stopped here while on the Tastin Round Town BBQ tour. The food was delicious! We had the seafood gumbo and red beans and rice. Amazing. My wife and I loved this place. Rum Boogie had the best vibe of all the places we checked out. We really enjoyed all of the musicians we saw. Chris Gales and FreeWorld are on my playlists at home now. The restaurant and bar staff were great. Friendly, professional and hard working. The beer was cold and our favorite cocktail was the Sunset on Beale. We ended up at Rum Boogie Cafe every night but one on our vacation. One of my favorite places ! read more

Traveling to Memphis for business and was staying nearby so we decided to stop by as it was near the hotel. It's an okay spot, we stopped in for a late lunch- although empty on a Monday around 2pm I just wasn't impressed with this spot. My pulled pork sandwich was ok and the side salad was fine. We were looking for somewhere to eat dinner on a Friday night and Rum Boogie Cafe was right next door to our hotel (super convenient). There was a live band playing, so a cover charge of $5 per person was added to our check. It was sooo loud inside, to a point where it was uncomfortable. We had 2 versions in the menu and there were different items on each...very confusing! I ordered a cocktail and it never came nor was it on my check. The food was TERRIBLE. Among the table, we had the pulled pork nachos (pork was very stringy), cheese fries (okay), Philly steak (okay but not much meat), and fried green tomato BLT (just gross). My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

Beyond that, there's very little that pushes me to really want to go to this place, while at the same time acknowledging that I don't find myself being negative if a friend or someone else picks here. The food is decent, the service is really hit or miss, and I've always found them to be quite slow ... so it just hits average for me. Not something I'm picking but not something I'm dreading if it is picked.

There were times where we couldn't track her down so we needed to ask other staff for things. The main "negative" aspect of our night (to jump ahead a bit) was when we got the check. It was noticeably more expensive than expected. I typically do a good job having a roundabout idea of what we're spending when we order, so I knew something was up. It wasn't until after we asked for an itemized copy of the receipt (that we had to ask someone else for), that we saw that she included gratuity in the total without saying anything about it. I'm glad I noticed because I could have easily given double gratuity without even knowing I was doing so. I was a bit frustrated with that aspect of the experience. The food was mostly good. We ordered the bbq shrimp as an appetizer - their creole bbq sauce was AMAZING! I couldn't get enough. I got their smash burger as an entree. Not the best burger I've ever had but it was definitely pretty good. My wife got the bolognese which had absolutely too much pepper. It was mostly all you could taste in each bite. All in all, it was a decent experience. I think I'll head back the next time I'm in the area for some more bbq shrimp... maybe get a couple orders to go :)

I looked over the basic menu and saw burgers, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, a famous pork chop, wings and a few other items. The client and my colleague quickly ordered devilled eggs, cheese curds, and chili cheese fries. The first two apps were really good, I didn't try the fries though. They had a burger of the day, and a food special of the day, but I settled on the wings. With those I chose the 10 pc, Buffalo with dry rub, smoked. Kind of a weird combination since most people usually order dry here apparently, but I like saucy wings. When they come out, they are huge and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish them.
