I can't decide to give this place a 3 or 4, but for how cool the vibe is I will give it a 4. There is a stage and they claim to have live music 365 days a year. I'm not sure if that is true since that means they open every single day and never close. not sure. However, the menu is limited. Typical bar food. I would say come here for the atmosphere, life music, but not for the food. I had a lime cheese cake and it was ok. Also they charge $5 cover. Just keep that in mind. It's added to the bill. The place does need a good cleaning. Everything is a bit sticky. The floor, chairs, table, etc are all sticky. I'm sure they wipe, but it needs some good cleaning. Just wow. The doorman was bored, the live music was way too loud and just... not entertaining- more disruptive than everything. The server was awful too. She rang in a burger wrong, told us she rang it in as a single, but charged us for a double. Charged us for two side that was supposed to come with the meal. There were only two ketchups in the entire restaurant and the salt was stopped up because of moisture so we had to take the cap off. On top of being charged for two sides, she didn't bring them out until the second time we asked about them. Then dropped our check after five minutes after those sides arrived. She was insanely unprofessional- Sitting at the table next to us, her vape on the table, and listening to her phone on full volume. I'm really sad that I wasn't able to see this place in full swing. Our trip to Memphis was just a day. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see this place at night. So I had to settle for lunch. Let's be real Memphis has nothing to cater to someone who does not eat meat . The smell of the barbecue was everywhere driving me absolutely bonkers. I wanted to eat meat so bad . I was strongly considering it. I wish it was that easy. I ended up eating mushrooms and french fries here. We had a really pretty white Waitress . I can't remember her name. Friendly enough, but she just didn't pay too much attention to us . Now the black employee without the bra on. She was amazing ! Stumbled upon this place while exploring Beale Street after visiting Graceland. We were quite hungry and it was difficult finding a place with vegan, gluten free options for me. The place is casual with lots of tables/chairs, a bar and 2 stages. The washrooms were divey. There are guitars hanging from the ceilings and dollar bills on the walls along with writing, etc. We had the absolute best server I have ever experienced. Jalia (sorry if its spelled wrong) was kind, friendly and very helpful with a constant smile. She knew my needs of gluten free and vegan and she crafted a salad specially for me. It could have used a better dressing than just oil and vinegar but I had polished off a side of fries so it was fine. The others shared a rib dinner and two others got chicken sraps and Jalia ensured there was no pesto as one guest had a nut allergy. Our lemonade was tasty and topped up without asking. Went to Rum Boogie Cafe twice only because of excellent band, Freeworld the first night and equally as good, Baunie and Soul, the second nigh. Food wise, It's not a place to have proper dinner. I ordered their catfish which was dry; seemed like it's been reheated several times. Had upset stomach that night.On the second night, just ordered pork sliders to share which was dry ; supposed to come with coleslaw and onion rings but it didn't so we had to ask the server and so she came back with a small plastic container ( approximately 1 tablespoon) of coleslaw and no onion ring so had to ask for it again, then the server came back with one onion rin. At that time we just said to forget it. When we got the bill, there was tax on the cover charge even when we paid cash. I addressed it with the manager and just said they had to charge convenience fee somehow but told him I paid cash and he just shrugged his shoulders and didn't do anything. We left Rum Boogie Cafe to eat somewhere else and saw Freeword playing in another restaurant without cover charge. Needless to say, we'll never go back to this restaurant again, read more

We were looking for somewhere to eat dinner on a Friday night and Rum Boogie Cafe was right next door to our hotel (super convenient). There was a live band playing, so a cover charge of $5 per person was added to our check. It was sooo loud inside, to a point where it was uncomfortable. We had 2 versions in the menu and there were different items on each...very confusing! I ordered a cocktail and it never came nor was it on my check. The food was TERRIBLE. Among the table, we had the pulled pork nachos (pork was very stringy), cheese fries (okay), Philly steak (okay but not much meat), and fried green tomato BLT (just gross). Stopped here while on the Tastin Round Town BBQ tour. The food was delicious! We had the seafood gumbo and red beans and rice. Amazing. My wife and I loved this place. Rum Boogie had the best vibe of all the places we checked out. We really enjoyed all of the musicians we saw. Chris Gales and FreeWorld are on my playlists at home now.
