I visited with a friend for a birthday celebration and had a chill time. It is a new, fun, and thriving spot (no pun intended, lol). It's spacious, they had a great live band, and good food! The service was pretty fast. It didn't take long at all to be seated and receive food. I had the shrimp and grits. They were super flavorful and had great balance of ingredients I also tasted the fish and grits and they were good as well. The waffles are really good. They taste like funnel cakes, so if you don't want them too sweet or if you want traditional waffles don't get these...but they are worth the try! There is also a twist on there hash browns. Friday nights at Thrive are cool which is why I put them on the Edible Memphis Black-owned nightlife guide! I recently went for a birthday and honestly had a blast. We got there in time for happy hour which I enjoyed. Out table friend was really attentive and kept the drinks coming, all of our food was really good, and the DJ Alpha Whiskey was spinning. Birthdays seem to be a big thing here and with the amount of space available, y'all should check it out! We had chicken wings and fries, a Cobb salad and a burger with fries. All were very good! Drinks were strong! My only issue with them is for making those parking spaces in the front $20 a piece. Parking is already a hassle and Also, I think I saw security walk the lot and see people to their cars when they parked in the back. I like that. read more

I actually enjoyed this place. I came to celebrate my birthday. I made a reservation before hand and everything was set before I got there but only I couldn't be seated until my party arrived which is pretty much typical nowadays. The atmosphere was nice. The music was nice. I love the decor and vibe here. Cute bathroom . It was a pretty nice crowd for a Sunday. The drinks were strong and the food was ok. The portion sizes are very small for the price in my opinion. My friends agreed. The server did a great job for our party of maybe 10. Oh yea I got a free drink for my birthday. Not sure if this is an always thing but they were doing free drinks for your birthday month. Parking can be challenging if you don't beat the crowd. I believe they charge $20 for their parking lot but if you can luck up and find street parking which I did, it is free. Be sure to take some great pics on their signature grass wall! I'd like to start by saying I was only able to find 2 stars for this place because we easily made a reservation, sat down quickly, the dj was good, and the place offered cute photo ops. Other than that I was highly disappointed overall. Once we sat down the waitress brought us water and we ordered drinks. We waited At least 30 minutes before getting the drinks. Keep in mind we had a clear view of the bar and the bartenders were dancing around, doing everything but making our basic tequila and pineapple drinks. When my drink finally came, it wasn't even a full cup. The really disappointing part came when we found out that they were out of almost everything on the menu. We got there at 9:30pm...they still had hours before closing. They even ran out of fries which is the only thing I could get on the menu because I don't eat meat. Unfortunately, When the fries came they were stale, and what was odd was that I had steak fries and my friend had "standard fries". We decided this wasn't the place for us so we asked for the bill and the final kick was when my friend got charged 2 dollars more than what the menu said she should've been charged. My friend was also disappointed to have to eat her salad with a plastic fork. I really wanted this to be a great place. I hope in a few months I'm able to come back and eat my words. read more

I can honestly say I really enjoyed myself here! Two friends joined me for a girls night and we had so much fun! We got there around 7pm which is honestly too early on a Saturday, so if you like a crowd then you should probably plan to come around 8 or so. The music was amazing. I loved every song that they played. The drinks!! They were strong and tasted good to me. I ordered the 2 for 1 strawberry margaritas and the Aretha drink. The food was on the pricey side, but I didn't really care this time. We shared queso and chips and a plate of fries. Personally, I ordered the burger on the menu, but didn't eat too much of it. The atmosphere was super cute and chill. We sat at a small booth and just enjoyed each others company. Oh and our waiter was so cool! He was so down to earth and joked around with us and even joined in while we were singing. I will be back, but this time it'll be later in the evening and when there is a band!! read more

I've been here with my girls a couple of times and I love it. I will say that we went early, around 5/6pm each time so I can't say much about how it is when it's really turned up. But let's talk food and customer service. Customer service was good, no complaints there. The food was delicious! My friends and I tried each others food. We had the lamb chops, both kinds of egg rolls, the salmon bites, the wings with Thrive sauce and the emerald salad. Like I said everything was delicious and we ate everything! only reason i gave it 1 star was because of the music, and atmosphere. We had a nice waitress. and they have 5 for 20 mimosas which is awesome. Cons: the food was trash. i had lamb. and it was cold . it really looked old and dry. i asked for it to be redone they sent it back warmed it slightly and added glaze after i told them no glaze on my lamb chops. I also ordered a waffle which looked like it was previously prepared and dry. my friends got french toast and they say it tasted like buttered toast. if i even come back it would be for drinks and to listen to the live music. read more

First let me say that this is a beautiful restaurant and has a great vibe. You can tell a lot of thought and effort went into its creation! However, I have to give them 3 stars after brunching with them a couple of weeks ago. One of the reasons for my disappointment was that our food was just okay and felt like I could've made it at home. The main reason being that their Instagram page was advertising unlimited mimosas and brunch specials for the day we visited (April 10th) but when I inquired about that I was told they weren't offering bottomless mimosas at that time and had no brunch specials. A single mimosas in a small champagne flutes would be $10. I was disappointed as that was the reason I came in and now I had to eat quickly eat so that I could go to another restaurant that had specials. This is my second time visiting but I understand this is a new restaurant so I'll return in a couple of months to try out happy hour and hopefully I can change my rating to 5 stars! This was our first visit to Thrive and first let me say the food was TOP TIER! I like to call myself a chef and brunch is one of the things I cook most off. Y'all. The food was FYE! I had chicken and waffle sliders with a side of breakfast potatoes, my friend had shrimp and grits with a side of breakfast potatoes, and my other friend had lamb chops, cheese eggs, with cheese eggs. They're still waiting on their liquor license so it was BYOB with a $10 cork fee. We brought our own 2 bottles of champagne. They put your champagne on ice and obviously provide a carafe of juice. We thanked the chef, Kionna! Our server was great, busy at first but was able to maximize our experience towards the end. Black owned business and VERY aesthetically pleasing. By the summer, we were told they will have the patio open and their liquor license. It was also recommend we try their dinner menu and they have live music and/ or a DJ on Wednesdays/ Fridays/ Sundays. Kitchen closes at 3 on Sunday but they don't close until 4. read more

Omg, when I tell you I was super impressed with everything. We went for our anniversary and wanted to try something different. I am so glad my wife found this place. When I say the lamb chops were so tender and flavorful, lord they were. I know the waitress was tired of me complimenting the tenderness of those lambs. I even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and lord behold we share birthdays which made it even more special. He is very kind, courteous and professional, down to earth and makes you feel likes a part of his family. If you haven't tried this place you are crazy. The atmosphere is grown and sexy and the food is immaculate. Javian is the chef!!!! I also had the pleasure of meeting him and telling him how amazing his food is. I hate to leave this review because I have worked as a server myself in some restaurants that just needed improvements here and there but this was beyond disappointing for me. First the restaurant was very nicely decorated and the service was awesome. Sadly though, those things didn't outweigh the bad. I made a reservation for a table but when I arrived I was told I had to sit at a bar top because they over sat people and my table was wobbly the entire night. Next I ordered the como drink they featured and although tasty, it had little to no alcohol in it for it to be a $15 drink. Both myself and my boyfriend ordered the same dish because the menu is VERY limited (the cocktail menu is longer) so there was not many options. We both ordered the pasta and the portions were small and the food came out in less than 10 minutes and was warm meaning our food was not freshly prepared. The pasta was a 6/10 for me. When I asked for a to-go container, I was told they had no more (it was 8pm) and that the only thing I could put my food in was a paper boat with aluminum foil. For the price of our meal (two pastas and two alcoholic beverages) to be $101 I would at least expect a proper to-go container. Lastly gratuity was added to our bill and that was not mentioned to us or was it said in the menu (we were only a party of 2). I was visiting from out of town so I was very excited to try this restaurant but was highly disappointed in the food and the price considering what I received for it. Last Saturday, myself and 4 others made reservations. It took at least an hour to get one drink. We placed food orders only for the server to return saying they were out of pretty much everything on the menu. I ordered Salmon bites and fries. Once we received our food after two hours, the waiter then told us the food we ordered and waited on was sold out as well. Some received their orders and some did not. There was no management to make sure everything was running smooth. The DJ was the best thing in this experience. The chairs and tables we're very rocky. Even after all of this, I looked at my bill and was overcharged. The menu price you see is not what they actually bill you. I will not return. read more
