First time here and only stopped by because of a friends recommendation. The lounge is cute but that's where the positive ends. The bartenders were slow and not very friendly. Stood at the bar for a number of minutes and after the bartender made eye contact for like the 5th time, she finally asked if I needed a drink. David and Adam were on the pianos.. they were okay but didn't engage with the crowd. Isn't that the point of a piano bar? We've been here for an hour and over 90% of the crowd has left. So i visited the infamous Zebra lounge everyone's been talking about tonight thats based out in Chicago. Its a pretty cool and cozy piano bar in midtown thats only been open for about 2 wks now. As you walk in the piano is dead center with patrons actually sitting right in front of the piano bar. Seating is around 10 at the piano bar itself and possibly 50-60 max seating throughout the entire establishment. There is one bar to the right and the bartenders were pretty nice and attentive while we were there. Music being played was good and i liked it. You can request songs if the pianist can sing and play it of course. Not too shabby and i can't wait to see what they have in store in the coming months. read more

And the bartender walked off as I told her what I would like. The beer selection is slim. Domestics with a few local crafts. Mixed drinks are overpriced, but isn't that the norm these days? There's only a one-person bathroom so beware of long waits. The pianist was pretty good, though didn't play much while we were there. I'd really like to see the attitude of the staff improve. Last night was I my first time going to the Zebra Lounge. Though the atmosphere was ok, the lounge is very cheap. Cheap furniture, cheap look. The drinks were well over priced. I can't believe they charge $7.45 for a well drink. All other places are only $5-$6. I found the overall layout of the lounge a little awkward. They could do better. The bar area is ok. Recommendations: Get a real piano. Get better quality furniture. Change those god awful-over head zebra lamps. Lower your drink prices. If you haven't been just check it out. After our original plans got dropped, we were scrambling to find something to do. We were from out of town and had no idea where would be fun for a 23 and 25 year old. We asked a couple and they sent us to Overton Square - we picked a random drop-off point for our uber and this happened to be it. Once seeing it was a piano bar, I was hesitant to go inside...thinking it was going to be a snoozefest. However, I was pleasantly surprised!! I understand it's small (I call it cozy and it reminds me of posh lounges in NYC) and doesn't offer food, but hello Memphians, Overton Square is full of restaurants so eat before or after you come!! And enjoy the free nuts and pretzels. There is a pianist every night of the week for the entertainment and if you pay enough, they play your song right away! It's a classic piano bar and I LOVE it! Can't think of a better way to end a night out than screaming the lyrics to my favorite songs! And prices are on par with most bars in the area. I've been excited about this place for months and am so disappointed. The location is prime and this place has so much potential that fell flat. The ambience is not "loungey" at all - super cheap tables and banquet hall seats, the booths seem ok but I was expecting some nice chairs and upscale furnishings. Also, the floor is tile, maybe it's for the music acustics but it looks cheap. Drinks are very limited and no prices listed, not a good sign. I didn't buy my drink and it felt rude to ask so not sure of the prices. Also, it didn't appear that there are any food offerings, is that legal in TN? It's such a shame because the concept is great and the actual piano player is good. I recommend this as a one drink pre or post dinner stop but not your destination for the night. I see some negative reviews, but I had a positive experience. In fact, I have been twice. I love going to places with live music. At the tables, they have free salty snacks. I can't complain about that. It's a small and intimate venue. And there's no cover, so like McD I'm lovin' it. They don't have any other food, but that's not a problem. Eat before. I enjoyed the music. The drinks were nice and strong. My only mystery is that I haven't figured out the drink prices. I have ordered the same thing multiple times and my price varies. The cheapest was $4 for a whiskey and water. I think it also was $6.50 once. I'm not sure if it varies based on bar vs table price. Anyway, it's not expensive. A group of my friends and I decided to stop by this bar since it had just opened and I must say I was disappointed. The lounge is very small but we were able to get a table. We had 2 very inexperienced waiters, a guy and a girl. The girl even commented that she had never made a cosmo before when my friend ordered one, but she would try her best. You don't tell people that! Apparently my group wasn't feeling the atmosphere either because after one drink, everyone was ready to go to the next location. We proceeded to close our tabs, and it took 20 minutes to get the check. We spent a couple of hours at another place in midtown. On the way to my car, I check my bank account and realize that The Zebra Lounge has charged my $28.04 for my $5.00 beer. I immediately go back to the lounge to figure out the problem, thinking I may have been charged for my friend's drink by accident. I show them my receipt and the lady tells me that they put a hold on your account if you open up a tab. WHAT? Why didn't anyone tell me this before they ran my card? I would have paid the $5 upfront instead of having my money tied up for one drink. She then assured me that the charge would clear on Tuesday (today) and I would be charged $6.00. WRONG! Checked my account today and I have been charged $10 for a $6 tab. I will never visit this place again and will encourage my friends not to as well. read more

I like this place! I have a good time every time I come (been about 5-6x). The drinks aren't super high and the crowd is fun. Except for the one time some ignorant drunk woman told some men "go home faggots" but my happiness was restored when she was put out! Bad vibes aren't allowed here! We stopped in for a night cap after leaving another event and overall really enjoyed ourselves. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. I really loved the low-key, cozy atmosphere. It's nice to be able to sit back and have a conversation without feeling like your screaming at the top of your lungs. Our bartender was Eillen who has a father with ALS, the night I went she put all proceeds towards her dads medical bills which I mean come on you just can't not donate!! How have I not heard of this place before?!? Came here after dinner at Bari the other night. Walking in, I immediately noticed how warm it was - MAJOR PLUS in my book! I'm usually freezing, which makes drinking cold beverages less appealing. Enjoyed the music, the people-watching (two girls there dressed for a photo shoot with National Geographic, if ya know what I mean...lettin' it all hang out...), and the energy.
