This is a real cool place to go to for a nice little vibe, civilized people. Lots of space upstairs and downstairs to mingle and move around. The outdoor patio is really nice as well. Service is standard, drinks are good.

When staying in Memphis this weekend, we stayed at The Central Station Hotel. For dinner we decided to eat at Eight and Sand downstairs in the lobby. The inside is decorated very well with mid-century furniture, accents, and lighting. The main wall is complete with a 500-album vinyl collection of 40,000+ Memphis-inspired tracks. The live DJ set the ambiance nicely for this dining experience. Upon arrival, we were told we could find a seat. We waited for quite a while before we were visited and given menus with small bites such as sandwiches, dips, and other tapas. They did not have teas or sodas, but had a large alcohol menu. I got the cajun spiced chicken, fries, and a water. The service was friendly but very slow. The wait for food was about 45 minutes and once food was brought out, our server didn't come back until it was time to pay. She was sitting off to the side talking on her phone. I only ever got one glass of water with no refill. The food was very good and the ambiance is very unique and chic; however, service was lacking for an establishment like this. I would recommend Eight + Sand for anyone visiting memphis or the surrounding arts district.

I just had sausage and two eggs over easy. They were quite good.

We were here for breakfast. It was good, but our server seemed very frazzled and discouraging of us to stay there to eat. However, our food was quite good, even though the menu was limited. I thought the pricing was reasonable too. We were just missing a lot of things initially (silverware, coffee refills, etc.) I think they probably could have used one more server on a Saturday morning, based on the number of hotel guests who stay at the hotel here. But everyone in my party of six or seven enjoyed their breakfast. The entrees that people really enjoyed most were the biscuits & gravy and also the shrimp & grits. It was not busy and the seating is a little awkward if you have more than a party of two, but we managed to pull some tables and chairs together and make it work for our group.

Found this place as I was walking around the area one night. Super chill environment with a good crowd of diverse ppl. They had a live DJ which I loved, space wasn't the biggest for dancing but great place to sit and listen to music. I didn't try the food but the drinks were good.

This was my first visit to Eight & Sand and it was great! There was an amazing female DJ that actually played vinyls. The music was great and the energy was light. Such a nice relaxing bar with great eats! This birdie sandwich was suggested to us by the waitress and it was delicious, especially with the hot lemon pepper sauce! The seating is open and great for groups. Lovely bar!

Love a quality cocktail bar! From the decor, to the service and most importantly the drinks - everything was amazing (especially their old fashioned)! If you're ever in Memphis, this is a must visit!

I chose this spot for a monthly team building event as Thursday is ladies' night. You receive 4 hours of complimentary parking, which is great as regular parking is about $26+. Nice esthetic that's perfect for casual night out. There was live music on the patio as well as three different frmale djs. We arrived around 630 and were about to snag the larger seating area. A small selection of food items but they are all delicious! I had a pineapple lemon drop and the spice up you life. Both we amazing. The food and bar service were great. Bathrooms very clean. We enjoyed the various mixes being played. As we were leaving the djs switched and began transitioning to a more hype set. I definitely will be back again soon.

This was a nice venue for my friends to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere and ambience were nice with a great nod to the Memphis music scene. I enjoyed my Sadboi Watermelon Party cocktail and Cheesy Fries while dining on the patio. We were provided with attentive and accurate service and I'd recommend checking them out.

I love the Hilton Curio Collection because any guest can tell that the location was designed specifically for the area in which it lives. I often land at Central Station - Memphis just to go to Eight and Sand. I'll give it 4 stars for now. * Why Eight and Sand? They have plenty of seating arranged conversational style. It's located slightly off the beaten path of downtown Memphis. The cocktail menu is diverse and offers spirits from local distilleries. The bartenders are pretty quick even when it gets a little busy. There's live music on Thursday evenings. There's a PATIO. It's located inside of a hotel with a restaurant attached. * I will tell you that I did have one issue during a visit but the situation was resolved by the manager and I was pleased with the outcome. I didn't feel that their policy on seating and service was consistent and communicated effectively to all patrons. The customer service set enough for me to go back again.

The ambiance is modernist and refreshing. The drinks were creative and the bartender doesn't mind creating you something special on request. The on-site Dj was fun and vibrant and the meal over-delivered! Is was a great balance of creative & crunchy and sweet/tangy and ENOUGH to share. Overall great experience.

We popped in Eight & Sand to check it out because we'd heard it was cool. This place has a super chill environment, great for catching up with friends. They have a really neat drink menu if you like specialized cocktails. I got the "Cheapstake" and it was a little bland, but regardless I enjoyed our visit.

Bartenders helping some, telling select customers to get lost and wait 1 hour for one cocktail

The worst experience. Arrived in suits and dress after a graduation thinking this was a great place to celebrate... only to get treated like scum. Please consider closing down for private events or fixing how you operate with an event taking place. There were 2 bartenders working the whole place plus a private event on a Friday evening. I was looking at a drink menu by the bar for about 5-10 minutes when a white male bar back with ponytail abruptly ripped it from me and then stashed it under the bar... not even for another customer to look at. Doesn't speak a word to us. Immediately after, the female bartender noticed this and dismissively told us to find a seat (there weren't really any) until someone ELSE helps us. Essentially telling us to get lost. 10 minutes later, a waiter comes by just to scramble to find a menu and give us one. 10 minutes later, he comes back to take our order. About 20-25 minutes later, our drinks finally arrive. Meanwhile, there are white and black male patrons who trickle in by the bar and quickly get their drinks ordered FROM THE BAR and have their drinks ready before ours....while it took us ONE HOUR to get 1 drink, and we were treated like nuisance for standing by the bar when there weren't any tables around. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in any bar. Don't recommend to anyone at all especially women of color

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

Went with my mother and sister while we were staying nearby attending a wedding party in Bartlett. Read about Catherine and Mary's online and decided to give it a shot based on pics and reviews. As soon as we stepped inside we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. I must say here that my sister has a small disorder such that it's hard for her to talk in complete sentences, and she has a notable stutter. This means she also experiences a great deal of social anxiety. She felt so welcomed that she hardly stuttered while we were there, and when we left she said, "This was such a good place for people like me." I loved that they made me and my mom welcome, but am doubly grateful that you went out of your way to make my sister so happy. She really felt like you treated her like an old friend. My sister has a speech problem, but she's not mentally disabled (in fact she's an electrical engineer). So the kindness was not lost on her, and I know this will be a place we'll look forward to when we visit family in the Memphis area. Thank you so much for the excellent food and the awesome vibes!
