I stopped by Good Fortune and got the ube lemonade and the honey butter wings. The ube lemonade was so sweet and delicious. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but it definitely grew on me with every sip. The honey butter wings were super crispy and packed with flavor. One of these days I'll actually try the ramen since I've heard so many good things about it. The service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant itself is small, cozy, and really cute. I'll definitely be back.
This was the highlight of my trip visiting Memphis! Sat at the bar, which was such a vibe. The bartender was super chill and just the right amount of attentive. I got the Classic Mane Ramen, and it was everything I wanted and more. Left with a warm belly and heart. Well done, GFC!
Came to celebrate my birthday and my two besties birthdays. All of our bdays are in April. So much fun to celebrate . I have been here multiple times and enjoyed all the menu items I have tried. I love the chicken wings. They are fried well and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the rice bowl this time. It was good but not my fav dish. The dumplings were tasty too. Service was very good. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Decor is very unique and pleasant to admire. I will return to get those chicken wings for sure.
About 2 weeks after my first visit, and I will make this a destination on EVERY visit to Memphis.
My sister and I are like, "let's try this place." (Proceeds to eat best meal at a famous Memphis restaurant.) Were we lucky? Probably. Did we have good fortune? All signs point to Yes. Simply put: ramen is an underrated food. When it's classed up and prepared appropriately, you'll say, "THIS is ramen?!" And I'd say, "Welcome to Ramen Lovers, table for eternity?" At Good Fortune, order the wings and get you some ramen. You'll be treated with grace and kindness. Get in line to wait. It's worth it. Do.not.leave.without.ordering.wings.
This was our first meal in Memphis. I really wanted to try their wings and ramen. The wings stood out the most. The sauce was great and I love the spicy kick to it. The ramen was good and flavorful. Dessert was good too! Lots of parking on the street!
This place is quaint yet it packs a flavor in the food. The chicken wings were delicious and full of flavor. They were crispy too. I had the chicken rice bowl and it was everything I needed. The chicken was tender and the sauce on top blended perfectly. I had the cold mango sake for drink and it was delicious. I sat bar top and the service was quick and attentive.
Good Fortune was an interesting place we wanted to try after seeing it on "The Great Food Truck Race". They opened at 4PM which we waited in line for them to open, got a table immediately and they filled up quickly. The staff were very nice and attentive. Atmosphere was great, but once the dinning room fills up and the music playing it's gets a little difficult to have conversation. Onto the food. The biggest disappointment was the one thing we wanted to try "Slap Noodles" they do not have on the menu. We were told it was due to having a small kitchen. The best items were the GFC wings and the crawfish dumplings which were both full of flavor and crispy crunch that is hard to find. My wife got the chicken rice bowl which was mediocre with not much flavor and the chicken was dry. I got the Classic Mane noodles, my daughter got the Big City noodles and my son got the Spicy Pork noodles. The homemade noodles were probably the best part where the rest was pretty bland and tasted similar. All in all I would definitely go back and try some others but mainly for the wings!!
This was my first time trying Good Fortune and I'm so glad I did!! They're always packed, but it was nice to finally experience what I've heard so much about. The food was delicious!! My ramen & the honey wings were perfectly prepared. The environment is upbeat with a nice music selection and the low hum of conversations. The dining area is small though so be prepared to be close to your neighbors. Overall, the food and service are great so it's worth the visit. Note: parking is limited on busy evenings and weekends because there's only street parking since they're located off of Main Street Downtown.
We enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The dumpling appetizer was very good, as were the chicken wings. The crunch on the wings was...*chef's kiss.* They have a choice of Japanese whiskeys, which I've never tried, so I had the Old Fortune which is an Old Fashion with one of the aforementioned Japanese whiskeys. The ramen itself was excellent, with delicious broth and ingredients. The noodles are noticeably better than other ramen we've had at other places. It was worth the drive downtown to eat here, so if you're staying downtown you're in a great position to have a really nice meal.
If you find yourself in downtown, this place is a must try. As someone who came from the west coast, this is some, if not the best Asian food I've had since relocating to Tennessee. All of the dishes are expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and combine such unique flavors together. Everything I had was genuinely outstanding, my favorite being the tofu and I cannot wait to come back here.
They had a pop up this past weekend at The Liquor Store Restaurant and I was able to go! After their participation in The Great Food Truck Race everyone was so excited for the Slap Noodles. Due to it being a pop up there was a bit of a wait but everyone was so nice from the bartender to the guy slapping the noodles were nice! It was my 1st time in The Liquor Store but I'll be back. It was a very cool laid back vibe. I ordered The Beef Noodles and the Wings. The noodles were very tender and tasty and the beef had a nice flavor. The wings were delicious, covered in a sauce that made you look at it twice. Be on the lookout for the next one and get there early.
I feel like every time I go out of town, we have to try a local Asian spot. Good Fortune was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It was crowded but luckily we did manage to get one of the last available tables. Our waitress was great. She was very attentive. I ordered the dumplings and my husband ordered the chicken and rice bowl. We loved the food. The dumplings had a chili oil on them so there was a spicy kick. I appreciate how attention to detail the restaurant is. There were about 7 dumplings on my plate and the waitress came back and said "we owe you one more" and they brought a fresh one for me. It was a nice gesture where if they didn't tell me about it, I probably would not have noticed. The star of the show was the Taiyaki. We saw photos on Yelp and knew we were going to order it. They change the flavor periodically. When we were there, the flavor was apple pie. It has caramel ice cream, apple pie filling and of course the Taiyaki pastry. It was the best ice cream I had. The portion was huge so I was not able to finish it. The prices were very fair for what you get. 2 entrees and 2 desserts came up to around 50 dollars. In this day and age, it's not a bad deal. If you need a break from the typical Memphis tourist spots, go to Good Fortune!

We had the potato dumplings, pork dumplings, and wings for apps. Pototo dumplings good Pork dumplings great Wings star of the show Then the main course. We had the classic mane ramen and chicken rice bowl with maybe too much yum yum sauce. Maybe. Both worth a return visit by themselves. Server was kind,prompt, and personable. Side note. Ramen broth reminded me of a Polish soup named Rosol. So much. Highly enjoyed. read more
We finally visited Good Fortune Company after seeing them featured on The Great Food Race. We originally came for the Slap Noodles, but they were unfortunately not on the menu. We also really liked the decor inside the restaurant, but this time we actually dined on the patio, which made for a nice change of pace So we ordered the wings, and they absolutely delicious --we liked them so much we ordered a second round. The crawfish dumplings were also solid, but the wings were the standout of the meal. We also tried the Bake MF Margarita, which I expected to taste like tea, but it's actually a refreshing peach-flavored margarita. At about $22, it's generously sized for two people and definitely worth trying. Our server, Mason, was very nice and made great selections for us. Overall, I'm giving Good Fortune Company (4/5). The only reason it wasn't a perfect score was the missing Slap Noodles. Even so, I'd happily return and hope to try them next time. Next time im ordering Ramen! read more
Stopped by Good Fortune on a recent road trip to NC. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult as you'll need to find street parking or parking in a nearby lot. When you walk in you'll check in with the host to be seated. The restaurant feels like a super cute, casual ramen shop vibe right in the heart of Memphis. For food we started by ordering the crawfish dumplings (crawfish, shrimp, cream cheese & togarashi). The dumplings were good, almost like a take on a Crab Rangoon but with shrimp and crawfish. For entrees my partner ordered the Big City Ramen (chicken broth, chicken thigh, ajitama, corn & menma) and I ordered the Spicy Pork Ramen (miso broth, pork chashu, soft egg, scallion, nori). The Big City ramen had a really good balance of flavors and wasn't too spicy. The spicy pork ramen was good but a bit like on the spicy side. For dessert we ordered the Thai tea dessert which was really well balanced and a perfect way to the end the meal. Highly recommend stopping by Good Fortune if you are in the Memphis area. read more

Located in the up-and-coming South Main neighborhood, Good Fortune serves up a variety of tasty made-to-order Japanese cuisine -- including ramen soups, rice bowls, and a small selection of hot and cold appetizers -- in a very casual ambiance served by efficient and friendly staff. I wasn't expecting to find freshly-made, tasty, and authentic ramen in a city known for barbequed bologna, but I had to try Good Fortune after receiving a glowing recommendation from the owner of DVOUR. I usually order Kuro Miso (or Spicy Pork) ramen served in a pork broth, but our server recommended the Coco Curry ramen ($17), a vegetarian dish made with hand-pulled noodles in a coconut-milk based broth and topped with fried tofu and and thai basil. YUM! One of the best ramen soups that I have ever had! My dining companion had the Tan Tan ramen ($17), a vegetarian dish made with hand-pulled noodles in a vegetable broth and topped with vegetarian soboro (which has the flavor and appearance of ground beef, scallions, cilantro, and chili, which she really enjoyed. Our server. Natalia, was fantastic and offered some terrific recommendations for our first trip to Good Fortune. The portion sizes were very filling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be back next time we're in Memphis! PRO TIP #1: Flavortown Mayor Guy Fieri visited Good Fortune in the 2024 Diners, Drive-ins and Dives episode "From Noodle to Strudel". This place is amazing. I went in tonight and our server was Sid. We sat on the patio. Sid gave us excellent service, he was really kind and really funny. The music was great and it wasn't too loud. The patio was beautiful, and traditionally decorated. We ordered a rice bowl, pot stickers, edamame, lemonade, and two cocktails. The food tasted so amazing and I really recommend the pork pot stickers. They tasted so good. The edamame was really tasty too. Definitely give this place a try and ask for Sid. read more
It's become a tradition for my friends and I to find an Asian food joint when traveling from out of town. As soon as we saw a picture here with Taiyaki, we immediately made plans to visit! Good Fortune is a great local spot that's away from the touristy areas. It has a great vibe and friendly staff, too! Their menu had so many good options to choose from that I honestly had a hard time deciding. I went with the GFC wings and I couldn't get enough of it! And of course, we had to end with what we came for, the Taiyaki (fish-shaped bread with ice cream.) They have rotating flavors and had an apple pie one while we were there. We were lucky to get a seat at the bar on a busy Wednesday night. There are great small plates for sharing, and we tried the potato dumplings, charred edamame, impossible meat dumplings, and the rolls. All were great. Overall it was a great visit to this restaurant. They have a lot of great vegan or vegetarian options which is a plus. Our server was patient and very attentive. We enjoyed sitting on the patio just make sure they give you a fly swatter to sit on your table because the flies were relentless. Great food and everything was fresh. For the price of the food it compares with the quality of the meal. I will return and try something else. read more

I enjoyed everything I had and the customer service was excellent. Even with the busy Friday night crowd, we were consistently updated on our wait time and ultimately given the option to sit at the bar so of course we did! The staff was friendly and our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Here's what I ordered: Last fall I discovered that I absolutely love ramen so I got the TAN TAN NOODS and it was perfect! (This is a vegan dish but it certainly didn't taste like there was no meat in it!) Whenever you can get the special, get the special! I had a BLOOD ORANGE TEQUILA cocktail as part of the month's drink special and I loved that it was just the right amount of sweet. (I actually like to taste my alcohol.) Lastly, I know you see that piece of chicken all by itself. I didn't order it for myself, I was blessed with it. Get the GFC WINGS Trust me on this! read more

Good fortune was absolutely AMAZING! priced perfectly with indoor dining and an outdoor patio. The servers were personable and I can see why the place is busy. I love the vegan offerings and I honestly think they have the best fried tofu bites and chicken tenders EVER ! I'm not even a chicken tender kind of girl and would order these again. I think whoever is cooking is consistent , the food was flavorful and great for family style. I can't wait to come back again and order up more great food and vibes read more

Came here after a play. Hostess was really nice but it was soooo loud it hard to hear. I decided to sit at the bar. They had hooks for purses which was a plus for me. I wanted to get the wings but that was the first thing they said to me was they were out. I decided to try the rice bowl which was really tasty and the pork dumpling. That was not good to me. Was not a fan at all. The ube lemonade had a funny taste to it as well. Idk wasn't my vibe. read more

Overall, great experience. Only thing I didn't love was parking/wait. This restaurant was clearly popular for a reason. The entire vibe was great along with delicious food!!! Their plating was clearly beautiful and detailed as well. Every dish we ordered was superb. Nothing was too salty or mushy. I wish I remembered our servers name but she was so kind! read more

After further consideration, I'm updating my review. I'm a well traveled ramen eater and although the ramen didn't meet my expectations, every thing else exceeded! The ramen was closer to a 3 for me, but the service was a 5! My husband and I traveled from Dallas to try this place and it was pouring down raining. We had our dog so the only option was the covered patio. Due to the rain, Good Fortune wasn't allowing service on the patio, but once they saw our beautiful baby boy, they made an exception. What a wonderful gesture! Shout out to the business owner for taking time to receive my message and respond informatively and politely. We will be back next time we are in town and will even try the ramen again! read more

I give this place 5 starts because for someone who's into this type of food it'd be great. However for me personally it wasn't the best food experience. Not because anything was wrong but it's just not my vibe. The ambience was great...it's small and quaint with good music & energy. The service was great. Food came out PROMPTLY! I can also appreciate that everything is made fresh. What we ordered: Bruce Lychee: 10/10 probably should have gotten another one! Wings: 10/10!! Idk how they got them so crispy yet tender but they were AMAZING! Wing places should def take notes! We had the lemon pepper flavor (it's a seasonal flavor). It gave more of a garlic parm but I didn't even care they were so good. Big City noodles & Chicken rice bowl: The ramen just tasted like chicken nothing more nothing less. I also would have maybe liked a few more veggies and for the noodles to be cooked a little longer. But these are personal preferences. I don't say don't try it. The rice bowl was cool the flavor was good. I didn't personally care for the texture of the chicken but the crunch was good and the flavor. We were constantly checked on & the manager even gave me my money back for not eating much of the ramen. That was very commendable and good restaurant etiquette!! He def did not have to do that! I wasn't expecting anything back cause it was something that I personally didn't care for & not the restaurants fault. Seems like they work really well together also!! My son said we have to come back for the wings alone. So we'll def be back!!! I do wish however that they had a chicken/beef option for the dumplings but again a persona preference of mine. Had the spicy pork ramen, it did not disappoint. Spiciness was on point, noodles were perfect. Only downside was i wish the bowl was a little bigger to move things around in it. Service was great, sat at the bar. I will be back! read more

We were immediately greeted at the door and our waiter was lovely! The chicken bowl was flavorful, but the chicken was cooked too hard. The wings took to long to come out, BUT they made it right by giving me the wings. The wings are absolutely amazing!! They are crispy and flavor loaded!
