Point of view: Elvis survived, aged, and took a job singing at the P&H. This is the feel of the world-famous Hernando's Hideaway. In a very unassuming location off of Elvis Presley Boulevard, just two blocks off of i-240, Hernando's is tucked away from the main road. The feel immediately, upon walking in is honky-tonk meets dive bar. Warm amber lights and colorful accent lights tickle the senses and hug the soul. The bar has friendly staff and servers, and touts his own fantastic cocktail menu. (Try the TCB, it's like foreplay in a glass.) This was my first foray to this new-to-me venue, to enjoy some friends performing drag to classic country songs. I understand they have music on the regular, and after the drag show the house band picked up and carried the energy to the end of the night. I will have to research the bands that are coming up, because I think if they are rock and roll enough I can even convince my husband to come out with me! The food was pretty basic, I was really hoping to get a peanut butter banana and bacon sandwich that was on the old menu, but the updated menu is a little slimmer. My friend's chicken sandwich was well seasoned and a little spicy. She said don't get the spicy because the original is plenty flavorful. Jalapeno poppers and fried pickles were edible. Parking is free, single-stall bathrooms are clean, and the service is so friendly you will feel right at home. Reservations online are recommended to claim good seats for performances.

I don't know about being world famous, but this place does have a lot of Memphis history. Recently reopened as a salute to the past. The owners did a fantastic job restoring Hernando's Hideaway to the was it was back in the day. The waitresses, bartenders and owner were all very friendly and great at their jobs. The food - FANTASTIC! We had the Cuban sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak. The Cuban was really good and the Philly was amazing. Live music on the weekend. If you are looking for a great place to play a friendly game of pool, listen to live music, have a drink and a bite to eat with a dive bar feel, this is your place.

What is not to love about this place?!? It's super hip and so cozy, the food was hot, fresh and well executed. I can't wait to come back and see a band hit the stage here too! Update- saw a band and they were great and the sound was too. These guys hit it out of the park!

A must see place while in Memphis. A real Piece of history revived and improved. Great music, great food, fantastic atmosphere. They are open during the pandemic. Precautions are being taken.

Great food but even better BLUES! You are wasting your time on Beal.... come to Hernandos!

This place is making history, literally. We were there for the presentation of the temporary historical marker, it was a lively place back in the day and been brought back in all it's roaring glory today. It is a must visit in Memphis for anyone who loves original and classic music. We went over several days and had a variety of menu items along with listening to some really great music. Some of the things we enjoyed were the Cubano, chicken and waffles, the Hag and Ameripolitan (burgers), a very good corn dog, tasty sides and a great little sandwich called the Thank You Very Much, all hit the spot. These were complimented by delicious cocktails, local Wiseacre beer and yummy sweet tea. Hands down BEST BURGER in Tennessee!! The prices are reasonable and the decor is just right, lots to see on those walls, many different seating areas for any occasion, mine just happened to be hearing classic and original roots music (Ameripolitan) and Chicken S&@t Bingo, ya gotta play this game. Their kitchen was open till late, making it "one stop shopping" for us! The staff are friendly and really nice people!! They keep the place clean and the bathroom well stocked, important on a busy (or any other) night. The history of the place is amazing and you can be a part of making history once more. Don't miss out, you'll have some great stories to tell!!

Great venue...and so nice to be outside and listening to "live" music again with real people around…read moreyou!!! Event staff pleasant and efficient...no outside food or water allowed at this point...and they check! Seating currently is at half capacity...which is cool. Food trucks and 3 bars that i noticed (limited drink menu but covers the basics with one "speciality" drink)...event could benefit from a little more food truck variety in the cuisine-last night there were 3/4 "mexican variation"...nothing really "lite" plate... minimal if at all, veg or vegan. Soundcheck...we were "front row"...a little too close to really be a valid judge...it was great...but vocals sometimes got lost in the instruments from where i sat - not an accoustic critique at all so you know. Parking was the bomb...honestly, i was having heart palpitations driving over...been to these things before where you cannot get out sometimes until "everyone" leaves and its dark thirty and your car finally frees up...NOT the case here...beautifully executed...in and out was easy / breezy!! Music there has a hard stop at 9:30...its an enjoyable early summer evening of entertainment and fresh air...in "the garden". So plan ahead...Great Summer line-up, get your tickets today

Memphis Botanic Garden is already my top Memphis attraction (how strange is it we go to a city to…read moresee what it could look like without a city?) "Live at the Garden" is equally great! This was the first time attending a show. Dennis DeYoung of STYX fame (another Chicagoan, just gotta' say) put on an incredible show, made even better by the garden surroundings and fireworks. We purchased the "Lawn" tickets, a real bargain as large screens provide a great view. The sound system was high quality at comfortable levels. As you would expect, not a rowdy crowd. In my estimate most qualified for an AARP membership, not a bad thing though. These people are experts at living (you will likely see your dentist in the crowd for example) I always mocked whatever GM vehicle, road-tripping past me on the Interstate with a "hanging clothes bar" across the vacant back seat; then I got one, these people are GENIUSES! Apologies for the life experience tangent. Suuuuper laid back. Coolers full of snacks and adult beverages are welcome inside after an inspection. We went to Memphis' new Trader Joe's (finally) and loaded up on treats. If you have a cooler with wheels, or a wagon, bring it for the long walk. Folding chairs, blankets, insect repellent, sunscreen, some had little battery operated fans to stay cool. If you don't feel like carrying in food and drinks, vendors are on site to sell everything you need. Parking was free (check the maps re: the lot locations). TIP: Back into your parking space, makes it easier to get out, and farther is better, as you are nearer the exit. Hope to catch another show here! Approved!

Posted: 17Apr26 I've had several really enjoyable dining…read moreexperiences at The Beauty Shop over the years, which is why it was especially disappointing to have one evening in January 8, 2025 fall short--particularly with a large party of 12 celebrating together. Let me start by saying this: I truly enjoy this restaurant. The atmosphere is unique, the concept is fun, and historically the food and service have been reliable. That's exactly why this experience stood out so much. For a party of our size, we would have preferred seating toward the back of the restaurant where it was noticeably warmer and more comfortable. Instead, we were seated in an area that felt a bit chilly, which set the tone for the evening. The bigger issue, however, was with the food and service execution. Four dishes out of our party of twelve were essentially untouched. Two scallop entrées and the Steak Frites were overcooked, tough, and unfortunately inedible. The special ribeye of the night--the most expensive entrée--was also not finished. What concerned me most was that no one from the service team paused to read the table or ask why multiple plates remained full. Only one dish was removed, and there was no follow-up conversation about the others. We spent over $800 that evening, including drinks, appetizers, sides, and desserts, so expectations for attentiveness and quality were understandably higher. When a table leaves several entrées uneaten, that's usually a signal worth acknowledging. After the visit, on January 9, 2025, I took the time to provide feedback privately through OpenTable in the hope that management would review it and respond. Unfortunately, I never received any acknowledgment. Even a brief reply would have gone a long way. Silence, in this case, was disappointing and felt like a missed opportunity to demonstrate care and accountability. I'm sharing this feedback because I believe in the restaurant and want to see it succeed. I work in a customer-facing industry myself, and I know firsthand how small service touches--checking in, asking questions, and following up--can make the difference between a good experience and one that keeps guests coming back. I genuinely hope this was just an off night. I would still consider returning, but I do hope the level of attentiveness and follow-through improves.

I'm not an Elvis fan so I'd never been to Graceland or the Soundstage before. I took an Uber to the event and the driver dropped me off at the door. The area is secured with a parking attendant but rideshare drivers are allowed thru to drop off passengers. The doors opened 1.5 hours before the event and I got there around 6pm. My ticket was scanned fairly quickly and I was able to find my seat with the help of an usher. I lucked out and had a seat in the front row which was awesome. The Soundstage is akin to a large warehouse except it has carpet and a good sound system. Other than that there's nothing special about the venue. The event was sold-out so the place was filled to capacity. The seats are removable folding chairs which were fairly comfortable. You are on top of each other though. The seats are very close together so it could be tight depending on the HWP of the folks around you. I was pretty comfortable so I have no complaints. There are chips, cookies, hot dogs, candy and various beverages. I was starving so I purchased a bag of chips, snickers and water which cost about $12. I was told by the staff that there would be cabs or rideshare drivers sitting out front after the event, but that wasn't true. I ended up walking across the street to the Guesthouse at Graceland to wait for an Uber there. They have a shuttle that will drop anyone off at the Guesthouse (you don't have to be a guest) but it was faster to walk. After I got to the Guesthouse my Uber arrived within 5 minutes. The stage is slightly elevated from the floor but all the seats are at eye level. I would have expected a brand like Graceland to invest in a state of the art theatre so the mediocrity of the space was surprising but the event turned out fine. I could see and hear the presenters so that's all that matters. The seating also isn't sloped which was surprising. Every employee I encountered was pleasant and helpful. Overall, my experience was very positive.
