I have found that many times you have to go to some out of the way place to find "food gems". This is one of those places. I hesitate to claim this place or that is "the best" whatever but I can honestly say that Uncle Lou's is really the best chicken in Memphis. Tangy spicy goodness is what they serve. Don't bother ordering a burger although I am sure it would be tasty. I had a thigh and had it made "mild". Just the mildness I was looking for! No forks in sight. Go ahead get messy and eat it with your hands. They've got plenty of paper towels. Good music in the background was a bonus ( think The Temptations, Four Tops, etc) Service was quick and friendly. Highly recommended! read more

Well I've never had this chicken but I did buy his sweet spicy sauce. I seen the show on Triple D and was intrigued on this sauce he uses on the chicken. I will say this sauce is delicious and I'm glad I ordered it from this establishment. The sauce has a lil kick to it I can't wait to try it on some fried chicken read more

Uncle Lous Fried Chicken - This is crack good it's spicy but oh Lordy - Chicken Wings Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

I'm loving the new location on Winchester Road! It's much more spacious than before, and the drive-through makes everything so much more convenient. I ordered my go-to: a three-piece all white (one breast, two wings, with mild sauce) with fried okra on the side. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The mild sweet and spicy sauce is my favorite -- just the right balance of tangy and heat. Great food, friendly service, and a clean, comfortable space. I'll definitely be back! read more

Food was great. What ever is in the sauce besides hit sauce was good excellent. Mac and cheese and fried apple pie were on it. Friendly atmosphere and even met the owner. Don't go thru the rush. We went after one when there were only a couple people. Menu on QR code and order by screen. Will be going again. read more

The lady at the Budget rental car desk recommended Uncle Lou's after I asked about good food in the area. I was annoyed that I had to order at the kiosk when I was literally talking to a lady who works there about the food and options.Anyway, I was probably still perturbed because MPD pulled me over literally two minutes from the airport. But that's another story. OK, on to the food. I did like the chicken but was surprised that it wasn't crispy chicken but fried chicken that was sauced. The flavors are all there though. I also had the fried okra because when I'm in the South I'm having fried okra somewhere. I enjoyed it also along with the biscuit. This restaurant is only a few minutes from the airport so give them a try. There is also a steady flow of people placing orders and picking up so that tells me the food is a must try. read more

Uncle Lous Fried Chicken - 2 Piece Snack with Fried Okra and Honey Buttered Biscuit - Chicken Wings Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

The food was good (especially the bone in chicken) , but not great. And not up to my expectations of a DDD restaurant. HOWEVER, We think that was on us because we got take-out instead of eating in. That said, I was underwhelmed by the potato salad. It tasted a lot like the prefab kind you can get from a supermarket (underseasoned and was also too sweet for me). I'll definitely keep Uncle Lou's on my list for a future visit when we'll remedy the take-out mistake. But I don't plan to get the potato salad again. read more

The ambiance and first impression is not very good. When you first arrive the parking situation is very tight with extremely limited parking. I don't mean any harm but this is a place I would not go to after the sun goes down. When you walk through the door you have to order at a Self-Order station which is truly frustrating. As a first and last time customer I refuse to utilize any self service kiosks. Come on restaurant owners Covid is not here anymore ‍. The food was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. The chicken was delicious; however the mac & cheese was just okay. The young lady at the cash register was extremely helpful and friendly also. read more

nice environment an the service is overwhelming good fried chicken an love the biscuit with the honey

Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken comes highly recommended by Guy Fieri, and we can see why! For only offering basically one sauce (Sweet Spicy Love), they've brought a refreshing taste to a batch of fried chicken, be it wings or tenderloins. We ordered our wings and tenders with the mild sauce, but added a side of hot sauce for comparison, and both were so good, with just enough kick without too much burn. Their honey butter biscuits are moist with a nice crusty top, and their mac and cheese as also a hit. This cozy little place was constantly churning with customers in the middle of the day. The staff is cool and accommodating with our requests. They also offer burgers and sandwiches, which we didn't get to try this time. Definitely a must try if you've never been here! read more

I ordered on UberEats and I enjoyed the meal I gotten. The chicken pieces are seasoned nicely and nice size portion of chicken. I liked their greens. The macaroni and cheese was a bit more sweeter than I liked, but it wasn't terrible. As well as, enjoyed the honey biscuits and the strawberry shortcake. I would come back to order. read more

We attempted to order food from this location yesterday but they were temporarily closed. It would be nice for the business to update their page until they complete the move to the new location. We did not get a chance to order any food. We will return when they move. This is a great place for southern chicken. read more

With all of my travels to Memphis I was happy to finally check out this much talked about spot. After all, it was featured on the popular Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Guy Fieri swore by the chicken so it must be good, right?Well I too concur!! The food is really good. Location....well, let's just say I'm going back, but in the daytime. Service, let's just say have some patience. So I ordered the hot 6-pc whole wings, okra, potato salad, honey biscuit, and sweet tea. All, and I do mean all of the food was fresh and delicious. The sweet spicy love hot sauce on the chicken was spicy, but not inedible. It has a balanced heat and vinegar flavor that compliments the wings. They also sell it bottled in a 16oz, 32oz, and gallon sizes. I purchased three 32oz along with the corruption seasoning to bring back to ATL and am glad I did. It makes all the difference on your chicken. read more

Terryon was so nice in taking our order of chicken, some sauced and some not. Both were fresh, hit and delicious. The sauce is slightly sweet and slightly hot. The Corn Nuggets and Potato Salad were both very good. They have Pepsi products, NOT Coke products, which was disappointing. Restaurant was clean and neat. Highly recommend! read more

Uncle Lous Fried Chicken - Spicy sweet Love Chicken - Chicken Wings Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

This is definitely a down to earth dive venue. The venue may look sketchy on the outside but it has a warm feel on the inside. Prices are very affordable. We got 14oz cheeseburgers, fries, mac and cheese, biscuits, fried chicken dark meat, and the Spicy Sweet Lou Hot sauce. The 14oz cheeseburger was the best thing about this place. You can taste that it was cooked to order. I will get this again. The fries were decent. The biscuits are great, order more. The fried chicken is better than average. The sauce on the side was a disappointment. read more

I gave them four stars because the chicken was delicious But the Mac n cheese was booty. Tasted kinda old an reheated. Not much flavor but pepper in it. But they get four stars because the strawberry short cake looked overwhelmed with strawberries but was oddly enough not mushy. So it surpassed the Mac n cheese disappointment. All in all I enjoyed the chicken tenders and the sweet taste of cinnamon from the flour of the chicken Well done read more

Came in with a couple of friends and right when we pulled into the parking lot the chicken smelled perfect. We got the hot 4-piece snack and a variety of sides. The snack was really well priced and included 4 chicken pieces, a biscuit, side, and refillable drink all for $12.50 tax included. Even though I'm vegetarian, my group said it was some of the most amazing chicken they've had with a nuanced complexity. The subtle vinegar and sweet flavors in the hot sauce still do not diminish its crispiness. I also enjoyed the sides I had too, though the chicken is what really makes this place special. This place is a memphis original and the ambiance was really good. The music was good and the space felt open. Our food came out in around five minutes as well. Would highly recommend!! read more

The food was delicious! I ordered from the self serve kiosk, my meal was ready within ten minutes!! The mild tenders were so juicy with just the right amount of kick! And don't get me started on mom's chocolate cake.... Just like grandma made for Sunday dinner!! You MUST check them out! read more

Uncle Lous Fried Chicken - Taste awful Chicken wing cold Plate full of what seems to be grease - Chicken Wings Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

Seriously what took me so long to try Uncle Lou's?! By now one of y'all should have told me about the deliciousness going on in the Whitehaven area. A colleague of mine ordered in and let me just say this completely changed my chicken eating experience. They actually dip any part of the chicken in your sauce of choice verses just the wing. It was so good and fried to protection (look at the photo). It's actually one of those moments that the food actually taste good as it looks! We also had the honey butter biscuits...OMG! The are soft and fluffy all the way through and has just the right of honey and butter drizzled from them. I also had the corn fritters and fries - all delicious. If you are ever in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop by! You may find me in there as well, lol! read more

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. The chicken was dry and overcooked, and the biscuit didn't have any noticeable honey flavor. Overall, I'd give it a 2 out of 10--mainly because I want to support a Black-owned business, and I believe the owner may not be aware of what's happening in the kitchen. The potato salad was the only thing I truly enjoyed. The rest, honestly, could have gone straight to the nearest trash can. I hope this feedback helps the team make improvements, because the potential is there. read more

Uncle Lous Fried Chicken - 4 Piece Chicken Meal Deal - Chicken Wings Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

Was passing through TN to NC and heard about this on a food network show. Was a little hard to locate since it blended with the other stores around. Walked in and was greeted by Kim a lovely lady that explained how to order on the kiosk. As it was my first time there and out of state she assisted with the whole process and was kind. She also recommended me a few options. I order the 4pc mixed fried chicken meal with hot spice level. The food was prepared fast and was delicious. The hot sauce added didn't take away from the crispness and juiciness of the chicken. The honey biscuit and Mac & cheese were also a great addition to the meal. Only wish it was just a little spicier and there was a bit more Mac & cheese. Overall though highly recommended and very fortunate to have Kim assisting in the front as it made me feel welcomed and eased my worry in ordering. read more

Very solid Southern fried and grilled chicken. Known for their spicy sweet sauce, kind of like a vinegary sweet chile sauce. Paired especially well with the fried tenderloins, which were beautifully moist and impossibly crispy. Grilled was very well prepared and moist as well. Great zippy creamy coleslaw and pretty good crispy fries. Would go back for sure read more

Uncle Lou definitely wants another wife! Didn't know I had mild but it was the bomb! And they sell the sauce on the side of the cash register. The fried okra and potato salad.. they should have been slapped! Uncle Lou definitely wants another wife in addition to how many ever other ones he already has collected because the food was so damn good! I shouldn't have to do this because it's a little bitty hole in the wall family restaurant. But some of y'all always want to test people's gangsta.... so here goes! ***DON'T COME TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT ASKING FOR GLUTEN FREE or VEGAN OPTIONS!!!!!*** I get some of y'all are culturally Clueless (Dionne Warwick for Gladys Knight during the US Open tennis match) but this is Memphis! Home of 8Ball&MJG. Home to Al green. Home to Aretha franklin. Home to the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. A big spot for the Green Book. If you know nothing of which I have mentioned, please Google and do your research before you come here asking insanely retarded questions such as do you have any quinoa salads! Know the menu before you go in because it's a fast pace moving line. Do not stare! I understand a lot of y'all have not been surrounded by my people or our culture. And you're only familiar with what you see on TV and movies. But for the love of God and all things righteous please respect this place and what it has to offer! Do not come in there with your expectations of what you desire and demand. Here's the step by step for you culturally clueless people... 1. Read the menu BEFORE visiting this establishment. 2. Google what you don't understand a. Google what you "think" you understand! 3. Write down what you think you want to order on a sheet of paper. Or leave a message in your phone of what you think you want to order 4. Call in the order if necessary so you don't make a complete fool out of yourself in line. We will laugh at you! 5. Be patient. As the food is cooked to order... most of it! Now this part is for my people... 6. Don't go in there with all of that UNNECESSARY confrontational "I'm better than" type attitude batting those caterpillar butterfly wings eyelashes while snapping those witch claws fingernails. I really like this place and the people who worked in it. And I know these days customer service is hard to provide to ignorant ass people with all of these demands as though this is some Michelin star restaurant on the shores of Maui Hawaii. Again I repeat I really like this establishment and the people who work in it! Don't give them a hard time! I will be coming back for the beef tip plate next time. And I'm going to be greedy and ordering another four piece chicken tambian, but hot and the combo! read more
