2 Piece Snack with Fried Okra and Honey Buttered Biscuit

The lady at the Budget rental car desk recommended Uncle Lou's after I asked about good food in the area. I was annoyed that I had to order at the kiosk when I was literally talking to a lady who works there about the food and options.Anyway, I was probably still perturbed because MPD pulled me over literally two minutes from the airport. But that's another story. OK, on to the food. I did like the chicken but was surprised that it wasn't crispy chicken but fried chicken that was sauced. The flavors are all there though. I also had the fried okra because when I'm in the South I'm having fried okra somewhere. I enjoyed it also along with the biscuit. This restaurant is only a few minutes from the airport so give them a try. There is also a steady flow of people placing orders and picking up so that tells me the food is a must try.

The ambiance and first impression is not very good. When you first arrive the parking situation is very tight with extremely limited parking. I don't mean any harm but this is a place I would not go to after the sun goes down. When you walk through the door you have to order at a Self-Order station which is truly frustrating. As a first and last time customer I refuse to utilize any self service kiosks. Come on restaurant owners Covid is not here anymore ‍. The food was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. The chicken was delicious; however the mac & cheese was just okay. The young lady at the cash register was extremely helpful and friendly also.

Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken comes highly recommended by Guy Fieri, and we can see why! For only offering basically one sauce (Sweet Spicy Love), they've brought a refreshing taste to a batch of fried chicken, be it wings or tenderloins. We ordered our wings and tenders with the mild sauce, but added a side of hot sauce for comparison, and both were so good, with just enough kick without too much burn. Their honey butter biscuits are moist with a nice crusty top, and their mac and cheese as also a hit. This cozy little place was constantly churning with customers in the middle of the day. The staff is cool and accommodating with our requests. They also offer burgers and sandwiches, which we didn't get to try this time. Definitely a must try if you've never been here!

Damn good chicken (sides and honey butter biscuits too), clean atmosphere, friendly customer service, fast, great enclosed patio with music, and convenient. Perfect for families and any out of town people.

I ordered on UberEats and I enjoyed the meal I gotten. The chicken pieces are seasoned nicely and nice size portion of chicken. I liked their greens. The macaroni and cheese was a bit more sweeter than I liked, but it wasn't terrible. As well as, enjoyed the honey biscuits and the strawberry shortcake. I would come back to order.

Terryon was so nice in taking our order of chicken, some sauced and some not. Both were fresh, hit and delicious. The sauce is slightly sweet and slightly hot. The Corn Nuggets and Potato Salad were both very good. They have Pepsi products, NOT Coke products, which was disappointing. Restaurant was clean and neat. Highly recommend!

With all of my travels to Memphis I was happy to finally check out this much talked about spot. After all, it was featured on the popular Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Guy Fieri swore by the chicken so it must be good, right?Well I too concur!! The food is really good. Location....well, let's just say I'm going back, but in the daytime. Service, let's just say have some patience. So I ordered the hot 6-pc whole wings, okra, potato salad, honey biscuit, and sweet tea. All, and I do mean all of the food was fresh and delicious. The sweet spicy love hot sauce on the chicken was spicy, but not inedible. It has a balanced heat and vinegar flavor that compliments the wings. They also sell it bottled in a 16oz, 32oz, and gallon sizes. I purchased three 32oz along with the corruption seasoning to bring back to ATL and am glad I did. It makes all the difference on your chicken.

This is definitely a down to earth dive venue. The venue may look sketchy on the outside but it has a warm feel on the inside. Prices are very affordable. We got 14oz cheeseburgers, fries, mac and cheese, biscuits, fried chicken dark meat, and the Spicy Sweet Lou Hot sauce. The 14oz cheeseburger was the best thing about this place. You can taste that it was cooked to order. I will get this again. The fries were decent. The biscuits are great, order more. The fried chicken is better than average. The sauce on the side was a disappointment.

I gave them four stars because the chicken was delicious But the Mac n cheese was booty. Tasted kinda old an reheated. Not much flavor but pepper in it. But they get four stars because the strawberry short cake looked overwhelmed with strawberries but was oddly enough not mushy. So it surpassed the Mac n cheese disappointment. All in all I enjoyed the chicken tenders and the sweet taste of cinnamon from the flour of the chicken Well done

I've been here countless times over the years. A big mistake this time. I walked out with the food and drink on the table. One of my worst experiences at Uncle Lou's and last.

    How are their biscuits?

My wife says "they are the best biscuits she's had in her life". They are light and fluffy, slightly crisp outside and a great taste. Uncle Lou's was our favorite food in Memphis and we went to Memphis to EAT and listen to music. 5*

Later during the meal, he admits that Momma's is one of his spots, so that's saying a lot. It sort of looked like another bar/restaurant from the outside, but they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking an old decrepit building which is at least some scenery. Once inside, you'll quickly see it's highly decorated and has a claim to be one of the only trucker themed bars in the US. Inside is decked out to the ceilings with signs, neon, old mirrors, collectibles, and many other items. I swear it looks like it's been in business for 30+ years, but my client said only a couple of years. I looked over the basic menu and saw burgers, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, a famous pork chop, wings and a few other items. The client and my colleague quickly ordered devilled eggs, cheese curds, and chili cheese fries. The first two apps were really good, I didn't try the fries though. They had a burger of the day, and a food special of the day, but I settled on the wings. With those I chose the 10 pc, Buffalo with dry rub, smoked. Kind of a weird combination since most people usually order dry here apparently, but I like saucy wings. When they come out, they are huge and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish them. I think I could only eat 6-7. My colleague had a ribeye steak salad which was a protein bomb he loved, and my 2 clients ordered a big rig grilled cheese which he also loved and a fried chicken sandwich (firebird) which looked really good. Overall, I really liked this place and it's one of the best meals I've had in Memphis the handful of times I've visited.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

Looks like they honestly grabbed 2 people from housekeeping. I specifically asked for my appetizer out first. A large group ordering Ala carte takes skill and organization. Food came out and was auctioned off. They just yelled out the dish and you had to remember what you had. My app arrived after the first group of 20 got their food. Spinach dip was lukewarm warm and cheese on top to cold to dip past it. My blackened chicken pasta was not blackened, was cold and was thigh meat chicken. I did not eat it. My mother had the fried chicken and it was the same thigh meat just breaded and fried. She did love her biscuit and molasses. My aunt had a chicken Caesar salad and they didn't put chicken on it. After an hour some people didn't have food and they came out to retake their order. At the end the kitchen team came out to ask how everything was. That was a nice touch. I pulled a sous chef to the side and gave him my thoughts on the pasta dish. His reply was if you eat it they will charge you. Trust me it had been sitting there an hour before he came out. Not eating it! At the end we all had to go to a register and pay. Some of us received a bill and some had to tell the cashier what we had. My bill was $60. When I got to the register to pay she said $69. They added a 15% gratuity. First of all add gratuity automatically for large parties. Second of all 15% is too low unless you're in a local bar and grill. The point is don't get people to a register without a ticket and they not know what they owe in advance. Shady practice or you need a POS system in place to properly execute and serve guests. Needs stronger leadership in the dining room and kitchen.

After leaving a nearby bar, our group stopped in simply looking for food. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet the manager, Charles, insisted that if any of us sat near one another, we would be considered one large party and could only have one check. I explained that we had no problem sitting at separate tables, and each table would gladly have a single check. That should have solved the issue. Instead, Charles instructed an inexperienced and unprofessional server to scatter us throughout the restaurant and warned that if we interacted between tables, we would still be treated as one party. From a management standpoint, this decision made no sense. Rather than maximizing an opportunity to generate significant revenue, leadership chose to create unnecessary obstacles. Ironically, spreading us throughout the restaurant would have required opening multiple sections, increasing the workload on servers and support staff instead of simplifying operations. Leadership sets the tone for a business. Good managers solve problems and create positive guest experiences. They don't create barriers that send paying customers elsewhere. At the end of the day, every business has one primary objective: to generate revenue while providing excellent customer service. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated poor judgment, inflexible leadership, and a missed opportunity to earn the business of 24 guests who simply wanted a meal. I hope Curfew reevaluates this approach because customer service, common sense, and hospitality should always work together.
