My wife and I stayed at The Peabody in Memphis this past week, and the night before we left we decided to try Curfew for dinner as it was right across the street. Overall it was a bit of a mixed bag, but ultimately it was mostly a good experience. The room was nice - open space, dimly lit, enough for a cool spot for a date night. Our waitress was also the hostess - not sure if they were understaffed or that's just how it goes there. But for the most part she was fine. Had a bit of a "whatever" attitude but was nice. There were times where we couldn't track her down so we needed to ask other staff for things. The main "negative" aspect of our night (to jump ahead a bit) was when we got the check. It was noticeably more expensive than expected. I typically do a good job having a roundabout idea of what we're spending when we order, so I knew something was up. It wasn't until after we asked for an itemized copy of the receipt (that we had to ask someone else for), that we saw that she included gratuity in the total without saying anything about it. I'm glad I noticed because I could have easily given double gratuity without even knowing I was doing so. I was a bit frustrated with that aspect of the experience. The food was mostly good. We ordered the bbq shrimp as an appetizer - their creole bbq sauce was AMAZING! I couldn't get enough. I got their smash burger as an entree. Not the best burger I've ever had but it was definitely pretty good. My wife got the bolognese which had absolutely too much pepper. It was mostly all you could taste in each bite. All in all, it was a decent experience. I think I'll head back the next time I'm in the area for some more bbq shrimp... maybe get a couple orders to go :) read more

We stopped by before a concert at the Forum last time we were in town, thinking we'd grab some food and drinks. Online said they were open -- and technically, they were... if you count "limited menu" as "basically nothing available." There was no host, no bartender greeting, and no clue what was going on, so we seated ourselves like it was some post-apocalyptic dining experience. The drinks were fine, in the same way gas station coffee is "fine" when you're desperate. No water unless you ask (apparently hydration is an upgrade), and the bartender gave us about as much info on the menu as a Magic 8 Ball. I brought my wife here to impress her -- turns out, I just impressed her with how bad I am at picking places. Four drinks and some wings cost $114, and the best part? Gratuity was already included. Love a place that rewards itself for mediocre effort. If you've got literally any other option -- vending machine, food truck, pretzel stand at the concert -- take it. read more

While in Memphis we went out to dinner with some family plans and Curfew is where we landed on going. From the photos it's such a cute place and it lives up to that in person. It's a cool place to go. The drinks also lived up to where I wanted Curfew to be, the food however was middle of the road. Nothing amazing, but also nothing awful. Our waitress was funny and nice, and she helped us figure out drinks. While Curfew seems to be the place to be, even on a Friday night not a ton of people were there and that should have been a clue for us. I would go back, but I would lower expectations. read more

Came here visiting from Chicago. Restaurant had a good location - it was easy to find parking only 2 blocks away on a Friday night. Restaurant is modern and stylish; however the floors and our table were a bit sticky. I had the bbq flatbread and it was just ok. I was searching for something fresh and acidic to break up the cheese, chicken and bbq sauce. Some red onion, cilantro, pickled jalapenos would take this dish up a few notches. My sister had the fried chicken sandwich. She said it was well-seasoned, hot and fresh. She also enjoyed her fries. As for the service, our server, Denni, was very nice and upbeat, but also inattentive and very slow. The wait for the food was longer than average I'd say but not horrible. Then we waited forever for a box and check. Also, when we walked in there was no hostess to receive us. She came out a couple of minutes later, though. Lastly, I'll note that 2/3 bathroom stalls in the women's restroom had no toilet paper. So, overall it was just an ok experience, nothing to write home about. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it's super cute inside and they have a really good looking all day menu. But that where it ends. We went in, sat ourselves as a server pointed towards a table and told us to sit there. We did. The tables were dirty. He came and got us our drinks then came back after a few and took our order.. three times because every time he came back something wasn't available.. the flat breads, no biscuits, no fish. Basically, they had wings and burgers.... Anyways we get two burgers chicken wings and a side of fry's with a mezcal old fashion it seemed no one knew how to make... when it was made it took about 20 minutes to get to me after asking two times..... the shining star WAS the food. The two burgers were good. The lemon pepper wings were delicious. If anything I'd come back just for those but I'd dine out. You're forced 18 percent automatically so the service shows they don't care. They're getting paid anyway. I wish I could recommend but I can't. read more

Finally tried Curfew last night and the food is great! It is located in the lobby of a hotel so it's wide open. It took a while to be greeted/seated. We were a bit confused on if we were to seat ourselves with no one around. I understand it was a Tuesday evening so no biggie. We were seated next to a gentleman with a continuous phlegmy cough that was wiping his nose with the back of his hand. Not upset but we discreetly asked to be seated elsewhere because who needs all that? The waitress seemed OK with it, but yelled at us across the restaurant that we could take a different seat which was completely embarrassing. The Brussels were great! The shrimp appetizer was perfect, it is exactly like besh shrimp! And we shared a smash burger that was also great!! Overall the food was worth going back- service was okay, a bit slow. Came to this restaurant for a birthday dinner. First off, we were late. The birthday girl was behind schedule so the rest of us delayed our arrival because of that. Once we walked in, to an empty establishment, we were greeted by the hostess. We let her know we were there for a reserved and her response was "the reservation was at 5". She seated us and our waitress came over. The waitress had nice/nasty energy the entire time. I know that energy when I hear/see it. While we understood the lateness, the restaurant was pretty empty outside of the bar. Example: I asked her to bring me a shot, since she was bringing the birthday girl one, I never received it. And Curfew had that, service wasn't half bad but then the bill came and they tried to slide a 18% gratuity on my bill as an " other" charge. Really? Let's start with a menu that states an 18% gratuity will be added to the check. We were seated, 2 couples were seated after us about 10 minutes. The waiter actually seated us as well as them. They got water and ordered before my husband finally waved the waiter down and told the waiter we were in fact here before both parties (both also only 1couple) and had no water or even seen a waiter... same exact section mind you. He said oh, sorry and proceeded to take our order and then bring us water. The drinks were awful, BUT the food was amazing! I got the Cajun chicken pasta which was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Hamburger was spiced perfect and the right med rare temperature. In conclusion, go for the food... expect the rest to be underwhelming. read more

Went to the bar to get a drink. I couldn't figure out where to seat because no one seemed aware that guests were around. I asked if I could sit at the couch. I was told yes but wasn't told if I should order at the bar or wait. I went to the bar. Order a drink. The bartender was very kind. I got the drink, drank it, left a tip on top of the automatic 18%. I get back some to STL after the weekend in Memphis and noticed my (1) drink was charged $32 and some change. A $10 tip was left on top of the 18%. If the service was amazing, maybe... but it wasn't. I called just to make sure something else didn't happen. I spoke with Kaylie Dillard. She sent me a copy of the receipt which was not my signature. She stated my card was ran on someone else's tab and that she would return the $10. I wrote back cool and to let me know when it's complete. I followed up and haven't heard anything still. GLAD I CAUGHT THAT! 3 days later we ordered 2 flatbreads for room service. I asked to make sure we got Parmesan cheese & the lady on the phone assured me she would be delivering our order. The customer service was solid, but I was told that the quality of the food can depend on who's cooking that day. I had a really nice evening here. It has such a grown and sexy vibe. The seating arrangements and decor is so modern and overall cool/hip. The patio space is also cute and a lovely view and it's right across from Autozone Park. I had two drinks. They were the Fly High Butterfly. First of the drink is really cute, secondly it taste really good! It has a refreshing taste. That ginger and mint taste really comes through. The other drink I had was the A "maize" ing. It was good as well. It has a hint of orange flavor and ginger. Both of those ingredients blend really well. I would also describe it as being refreshing. As for the food, we started with two appetizers and then ordered a pizza. I had the Skillet Beer Braised shrimp (tip: dip your bread in the sauce as you eat). This dish is really good. I would definitely recommend. We also had the Sweet Fire Chicken Wings. They were good as well. The blue cheese crumbles were an added bonus. I witnessed her interacting with difficult customers and had nothing but positivity through the whole experience. She let me decompress while she went went about the closing process. Ok so I've been here for dinner and it was ok! You're paying more for the location. The food was just ok and the service was good. The last time i went i went for breakfast on a Sunday! I won't be back for breakfast again! It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated immediately. Our waitress wasn't attentive and was often caught texting on her phone while we waited for silverware and straws. We got out food and it had a huge piece of hair on it. Granted they did fix it but the food we had was just bland! Nothing was really seasoned at all! Went here for brunch with a friend. The vibe is great. Our waitress was delightful. The food was yummy! All in a great experience. I got the Elvis inspired pancakes, but with bananas on the side to eat separately (as I do not share the king's palette of combing. Peanut butter, bacon, and bananas). My friend got the traditional farm breakfast. My only issue was that there was also fruit covering my short stack - I was able to pick them off and ate them separately with the bananas, but had it been on my friend's plate it would have been a problem as he is allergic to strawberries. Came late on a Wednesday evening before the Thanksgiving holiday. I wish i remembered our waiters name bc he was absolutely perfect. There were about 6 other groups and he waited on us all AND manned the bar. We never felt neglected. It was only when I saw him mixing cocktails that it dawned on me that he was a one man band. On to the food: I mean it legit doesn't disappoint. I had the redfish and grits and it was amazing. I also had some of my dates pork shank and it was immaculate. Literally falling off of the bone. Located in the new Canopy hotel downtown, Curfew is a chic new spot that we were really looking forward to trying on a recent trip to Memphis. After reading about the success of the chef's restaurant in Chicago, the expectations were high for us. We ordered several appetizers, a salad, and three entrees: Appetizers: *Crispy smoked mozzarella - upscale mozzarella sticks with a tomato jam that was sweet and nicely complemented the cheese *Deviled eggs - classic with a little sweetness and topped with fried onions *Sweet fire chicken wings - good, not spicy *Fried chicken livers - we didn't receive them *Hush puppies - we didn't receive them They would benefit from smaller to-go containers for the appetizers to keep the food, toppings, and presentation intact. Salad *Bacon and egg salad - dressing was requested on the side, unfortunately it was placed on the salad and it was drenched and wilted Entrees: *Curfew private blend burger - ordered medium well and it was overcooked to well done. Good flavor however and uniquely topped with beef belly *Gulf redfish - well cooked but the portion of accompanying vegetables was very small (see pics) *Whiskey and wine pork shank - moist, flavorful, falling off of the bone, large portion I'm not sure if the issue with this place was the communication between the person at the front of the house taking the orders and the kitchen, but it was really disappointing to realize that our receipt attached to the bag had items on it that we didn't receive. The manager was very nice however and he refunded the money for those items. Unfortunately we received the salad but not as we'd requested it and it was nearly inedible because of the amount of dressing. The burger was also overcooked. I took hubby for his birthday dinner. As this was part of a weekend full of surprise activities, I went based on the menu and other reviews. I was not at all disappointed! Our server was incredibly attentive and prompt. With such a welcoming and jovial personality, I knew that we would enjoy our time there. I started my meal with the deviled eggs, a dish that I eat every chance I get. Topped with fried onion rings, they were among the best I've tasted thus far. Hubby ordered Sweet Fire Chicken Wings to start. They looked incredible, but I don't handle spicy too well. I'd order the Wine and Whiskey Pork Shank, but they had run out, so I went instead with the Roasted Chicken Pepperonata. It wasn't a bad substitution; the sides of green beans and mashed parmesan potatoes were incredible! Hubby had the Ribeye, medium-rare. The appetizers and main course were more than enough to fill us up, so we didn't have dessert on this initial visit. We will definitely return another time for it. COVID MEASURES: The staff all wore masks and gloves the entire time we were dining.
