So I have mixed feelings about this place. Our waitress was very friendly and was trying to keep up with the whole place by herself. My wife and I went there with my Brother and his wife for dinner and drinks. We ordered a very small hamburger (not even a solid 1/4 lb) with fries, and chicken fried chicken (a decent sized breast, but not large) with Mac n cheese & garlic mashed potatoes. I had a "Washington Apple" whiskey cocktail (which was actually quite good). My Brother and Sister in Law ordered Tuscan Chicken, catfish and one cocktail. They brought out the ladies dishes first (catfish and hamburger), then 10 minutes later my Brother got his Tuscan Chicken. 20 minutes later, after everyone else was finished with their meals, my chicken arrived. The waitress got my meal taken off the tab but we still paid handsomely for this dining experience! They automatically add 20% gratuity so my bill (photo attached) was $51.56 and my Brothers bill was almost $90.00!!! Be prepared to pay Michelin Five Star prices for modest portions of very average food! My friend and I visited 111 Madison in Memphis for brunch this past Saturday. Early on, we encountered a few issues that set the tone for the experience. My friend asked if he could add chicken to the veggie bowl and was willing to pay the additional cost. Our waitress, who was very kind and professional throughout our visit, checked with management but returned to say they could not accommodate the request because their system would not allow them to ring it up that way. Shortly after placing our orders, my friend asked for lemon with his water. The waitress returned a few minutes later saying they unfortunately did not have lemons available. However, we were seated directly next to the bar and could clearly see lemons being used by the bartender for drinks. A short time later the waitress returned with a small cup containing four lemon slices. As she approached our table, the bartender stopped her and said, "Hey, not all of those. They don't get all of those." She then went back to the bar, removed two slices, and brought the remaining two to the table. It was an awkward moment that left us puzzled about why such a simple request became an issue. When our food arrived, my friend received his breakfast tacos first, but the chicken on the tacos was cold. My shrimp and grits with catfish croutons arrived about three to five minutes later. The grits were lumpy and the catfish croutons ended up being nothing but the tail end of a catfish filet. When the check came, we saw an automatic 20% service charge had been added. My friend asked if that charge went to our server or to the restaurant. She explained that the service charge is split between the server and the house. Despite the experience we had, my friend still made sure she was taken care of. Our waitress remained pleasant and professional the entire time, and it seemed clear she was doing the best she could within the limitations she was given. However, between the policy restrictions, the uncomfortable lemon interaction at the bar, and the food arriving cold, the overall experience was disappointing. While we chose not to raise the issue with management at the time, this is unfortunately not a place we plan to return to. read more

I stopped by on a Friday for a tasting for $35 that included alfredo, steak and potato, broccoli fritter, oysters rockerfeller with BBQ shrimp and bread pudding. The menu also included two cocktails. The service was great, staff was very attentive and the chef, Unk was very present. The food had more miss than hits to me and one cocktail was more sweet than anything. I visited One11Madison for a mother and daughter Brunch. I ordered the Biscuits covered with Sausage Gravy and my daughter ordered the Chicken and Waffles. That biscuit was tender, moist and delicious. It was as if someone's grandmother was back there rolling out dough. The sausage gravy was also well seasoned not too salty, it made for the perfect pairing. My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was well seasoned, and the waffles were cooked to perfection. She also ordered a cocktail. Everyone was so accommodating and welcoming and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. The customer service was terrible. We had a reservation at 3:30pm. We got in the door at 3:36pm. We were rushed from the moment we stepped in the door. We were told that we should have our order ready because the kitchen closes at 3:30. I asked the manager (i'm assuming, a thicker bald lightskin man), If y'all close the kitchen at 3:30 then why am i able to make a reservation at 3:30. He then told me well yall are late. This was an odd dining experience. Was a bit concerned when the menu we were given had no prices. When asked, the waitperson apologized and said what he had just given us was more of a drink menu. Odd. He then gives us another menu which has the same exact info except it has prices on it. They have limited options for dinner. I asked, who I assumed was a manager, about the chicken dish. He said it came with pasta. Next, our waitperson said the dish had no pasta and I would probably want a side dish with it. Hmmm. The waitperson was correct but who was this other guy with incorrect information about the menu. The food was okay. When it was time to pay the bill, the waitperson pointed out the 20% service charge didn't go to him and we should tip an additional amount if we wanted him to get any. I had no problem with a service charge being included on the bill. My problem was being asked for additional money as a tip. I'll give extra money on top of the gratuity if service was exceptional but to ask for more money when we got the bill, I think is in poor form. If an establishment includes a service charge, it should compensate servers for their work. If that's not the case, I believe the responsibility falls to management to revise their compensation structure or pricing, so customers aren't put in the awkward position of covering the gap. This is a new spot in Memphis that is definitely worth visiting! They have many times, deals, specials, and events that caters to an array of people. They have brunch, jazz nights, live music, and more. This is a tri-level venue. It is chic, modern, trendy, and true to the new school dining experience. Everything was cool. They only thing that could be an issue is parking, but I found a spot right next to the building. It cost, but again the experience made it worth it. As for the food and drinks, my girls and I were highly satisfied! I had the chicken and waffle. The chicken was seasoned really well. You get three pieces and a waffle sliced into four pieces. It is topped with fresh fruit and powdered sugar. I also got a side of cheese eggs. They were filling and tasted good. We also got the mimosa tower. It was so good. We had the blueberry and the pineapple. They were both infused with fresh fruit. They currently have a special for 2 for $55! Some friends and I attended the mixology class held on June 26th at One11 Madison and had by far the worst experience with the owner and certain staff members. Upon arriving for the mixology class, I noticed that parking was very limited but a couple of spaces in front of the building had come open where cars were previously parked. There were also no visible "No Parking" signs where we parked with the exception of one that warned of not parking in a nearby alley. To ensure that we would be good with parking in those spaces, I approached the greeter and inquired about parking there. She said we would be fine. After the class ended, an announcement was made regarding the activities that would be conducted for the remainder of the evening. We were told we were welcomed to stay for them and decided to stay a little longer. When we left, around 9:30 p.m., our cars had been towed. My car was towed at 9:09 p.m. The owner, stated that cars are towed in that area all the time but yet his employee misinformed us about the parking and stated that we shouldn't have any issues. Although the owner and other staff members were present (outside watching) when the cars were being towed, he neglected to inform patrons of what was occurring. When we approached him with complaints about us being misinformed about the parking from his staff as well as expressed our concerns for him not communicating the towing of cars, he became very rude and combative towards us ans mentioned that we were at fault. As I mentioned before, there were no visible signs indicating that parking was prohibited, with the exception of the one pointing out no parking in an alley. However, a Mercedes Benz truck was parked the entire time and wasn't towed along with our vehicles. This drew an even bigger concern. In addition, it began raining outside and a staff member wouldn't let us back in the building. In an extremely condescending manner, she stated "only patrons that have paid for the post mixology activities would be allowed to stay in the building, so you all have to leave". Our cars were towed to the Memphis impound and we had to wait in the rain until we were able to get a ride to the impound to get our cars. We also had to pay $225.00 to retrieve our vehicles and received citations in which more fees have to be paid. Again, we were treated horribly and unlawfully towed. I will NEVER support/patronize this establishment again! The owner is absolutely terrible as well as some staff. read more

Went for Sunday morning brunch. Lots of great reviews. Menu looked good. Was not impressed. Some of this is on me for not reading the menu closer: They have instant coffee. That's the only coffee option. My wife and sister were interested in the mimosa tower. The waiter did a fine job explaining it, but the tower has 2 bottles of champagne in it. They were not interested in that much alcohol at brunch. The waiter did explain that they could order individual mimosas. Then 15 minutes later the bartender made a half tower for a different table with only one bottle of champagne. If we'd known that to be an option our table would have ordered it. I ordered the avocado toast. It was good. It came with two eggs. Your option were scrambled or over easy. My BIL asked if they could do sunny side up. Nope. Scrambled or over easy are your two egg options. I chose scrambled and they were fine. My wife ordered the crème brûlée French toast and was not impressed. It was regular French toast with some berries on top. The syrup was supposed to be a banana maple syrup. It tasted like regular syrup. All in all it was fine. Not terrible. Service was fine. Sooo, good. I mean the liquor does sneak up on you!! Found that out 3 flights of stairs in heels later. Now, no slight to Justin or Keith but I was NOT aware of the 20% service charge (that was not communicated), so just be sure to look at that...two drinks and great conversation later it was overlooked. Also, the fact it asked if you wanted to leave a tip lead me to believe there was not one already included. So if Justin had not been great, I was have raise the roof!! Now, don't be alarmed by the valet guy who looks 15, he's old enough to drive although we questioned it several times. Love they have "experiences" that seem really cool and we plan to check it out. I'd definitely say, come visit and the bonus in my opinion is the valet so you don't have to worry about parking. Update: After speaking with Keith about the 20% service charge, he kindly showed me where it was printed, both on the menu (very fine print) and near the hostess stand on the wall to the right in a picture frame. She cared about our experience. We had a flight of mimosas (all of them are good)! We also had the grits, the egg white omelet and the chicken and waffles. Let's talk about these grits. I am an out of towner who was on business in memphis when I dined here- so I think I missed a memo as I had a somewhat odd experience. One111Madison is lavishly decorated- a very intimate, modern and sleek design with a pinch of a vintage eclectic twist. Whoever designed it took a very custom and bespoke approach- which I greatly appreciated. The food was also good- in my opinion it is better than traditional bar food in both flavor, diversity and portion size. The side portion of truffle mac and cheese was enough to be its own entree- which made for an awkward discovery when it arrived with my main course but none the less, if I was a local who could save it for leftovers I'd be overjoyed! Flavor was good, seasoned well, and the menu was creative and lively, much like Memphis is. Service was also exceptional; I arrived around the time they open mid-week which was around 4:00PM. I was given complimentary champagne - though I don't drink, it was a nice touch. There was, who I assume is the owner at the table behind me, the bartender; who took excellent care of me, and a DJ. All of whom were very personable. The owner suggested her favorite out of the two dishes I was considering, and the music was excellent. The odd experience could have been my own fault for showing up too early. I still am not entirely sure if the establishments main focus is as a club/lounge or a restaurant- but I assume it's the first. I got there early not wanting to have to wait to be seated, but during the entire two hours I was there not a single other patron walked in. In fact, I only really noticed four people walk by out front. I'm unsure of the area- maybe it's not a really popular one for foot traffic. I was there until about 6PM, when the DJ kicked up the volume to dance level. I felt a bit awkward all by my lonesome- it's much better suited for dining out in a group. I enjoyed the ambiance and my meal and the bartender and owner were nice company, but overall this is a good place to go with a few friends to enjoy a good meal, drinks, and listen to music. I read in other reviews this establishment does have a cigar bar upstairs- unsure of if that is accurate but it wouldn't surprise me. Very cool, upscale vibe. I would love to try their brunch menu at some point if I'm ever in town for it. I think it's worth a try if you're in the area- it really shocked me that there was no dinnertime rush especially given the downtown location and the good variety in menu. We went for brunch, where the only caffeine options were instant coffee, non-sweet tea or soda poured from a can. While the Crème Brûlée French toast was good, it wasn't worth $22 for 2 slices of basic French toast. Others in the party enjoyed their avocado toast and biscuits & gravy that were more elevated. It's 2 bottles of champagne + juice for $55 served from a large container with a pour spout. 1/2 tower was not offered after we declined to order that much to drink yet we saw another table served the 1/2 portion. This place is a fraud! I made reservations one afternoon anticipating that I would do brunch the next day. I canceled before they opened because of a family emergency. They charged me $41 for canceling within 24 hrs. This wasn't communicated when making the reservation online. I made the reservation the evening before so there's no way I could have canceled within 24 hours of the reservation. I will never patronize this establishment. Beware when making a reservation! Additional Comment: The business owner replied to my review and question my ability to read. Keep in mind I have four degrees with one being the terminal degree of Doctor of Education. That's mighty white of you to even say a Black man can't read and comprehend! The policy was not shared when the reservation was made as I stated. It's very vague and didn't mention anything about canceling within 24 hours! This is fraud by charging potential customers and not providing a service. The $41 won't break me but I have an issue with businesses conducting business like this. read more

One of the best brunches I've had in a long time. I love this place. It's such a vibe. I paid for the Bottomless Brunch on the 2nd floor & got my money worth. Unlimited food and beverage for $75 with tax & gratuity. Every tourist should check it out. Mature crowd & strong drinks. I'm even considering a membership for the private 3rd floor and I don't even smoke. I love the exclusivity & privacy of being able to go somewhere safe and enjoyable in the downtown area.
