We came for the comedy show they host every first Sunday of the month. This Sunday's headliner was Earthquake, and he definitely did not disappoint! The biggest issue was the parking and entry process. It felt very unorganized. It didn't seem like the VIP parking signs were set up before the crowd started arriving, so people parked wherever they could, only to be told they had to move. Then, instead of letting everyone wait under the covered walkway, they kept directing people back into lines in the hot sun. Between the purse checks, security pat-downs, and confusion about where everyone was supposed to be, getting inside took longer than it should have. It honestly felt like the staff hadn't had a pre-event meeting and were trying to figure everything out as they went. They really need to improve that process because it put a damper on the start of the evening. Thankfully, once we made it inside, everything got much better. Our waitress, Indiana, was attentive and did a great job, especially considering how busy it was. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrées all at once to stay ahead of the crowd, and the food came out fresh and delicious. I ordered the catfish plate with fries and collard greens, and everything was cooked perfectly. I also tried the cobbler egg rolls for the first time, and wow...they were absolutely amazing! They were so good I had two and had to stop myself from ordering more. I'll definitely be getting those again. Despite the rough start, the food and service made up for it. Tried Salt today and ordered the Alfredo with chicken and shrimp. The Alfredo itself is around $18, with the chicken and shrimp costing extra. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. There are some important details guests should be aware of. The Lamb & Grits menu description states it includes eggs, but eggs were still charged separately on the bill. When we asked, our server explained the included eggs were powdered eggs, and she substituted shelled eggs without informing us, resulting in an additional charge. This distinction is not explained on the menu or by the server. There were also pricing inconsistencies on the online menu--two pancakes are listed as $8 on the menu but were charged as $10 on the receipt. The Shrimp & Grits entrée, priced at $22, arrived with only three shrimp, and we had to order additional shrimp. Portion-to-price ratio is something to consider. Most notable were the fees. Our subtotal was $98.79, but after the automatic 18% gratuity, a 3% credit card surcharge, and multiple taxes, the final total reached $134.34 for what was essentially two entrées, pancakes, and drinks on this receipt alone. That is $37.55 in additional fees, which is literally the cost of another entrée and a cocktail. Across the table, our total brunch experience was around $300. The automatic gratuity is understandable, but transparency and communication about substitutions, pricing, and added fees would significantly impact a guest decision to patronize. Brunch at Salt Memphis is always a vibe. This wasn't my first visit, and overall, the food quality continues to be solid with taste, the DJ keeps the energy right, and the drinks are well-crafted. The ambiance is enjoyable, though not quite at the level the pricing suggests. Our table of four ordered Salmon & Grits, two Lamb Chop & Grits, Shrimp & Grits, Pancakes, French Toast, and several cocktails. Initially, my mom and I ordered the chicken and shrimp pasta unbeknownst to us that it was very, very overly salty with the first bite. We couldn't eat the dish and it was rather expensive for something that we couldn't enjoy. I called management to express my concern. I was told that they would get back to me or someone would call me no later than Monday because it was over the weekend within an hour turnaround time someone called me and my order was replaced. I had a pretty good time here for a friend's birthday! I had been wanting to try this spot out. The spacing in here is accommodating. The night we went there was a live band and they were great. The DJ was also really good as well. We also had a little karaoke fun! One thing that stuck out to me is the healthy food options they offer. Many lounges don't offer that. I had grilled shrimp and asparagus. They were welled seasoned and filling. The bonus is my meal wasn't super expensive. It was good too! 3. I ordered the salmon plate. The salmon was cooked to perfection. No complaints here. 4. The staff was also nice. 5. A woman in our party really enjoyed her drink. She ordered another one while we were sitting. Cons: 1. The service was slow. We sat at the bar area at a high top table. But, everything took so long, and our waitress didn't (or wasn't able to) check on us often. 2. Though the broccoli, seasonal veggies, and yellow rice were good, these sides were bit heavy on the seasoning. We have to be careful with that, especially in our African American community, for the health of our people. 3. The Karoake was loud and overwhelming, and I wasn't even in the main section. The security team was the best. The guy checking IDs was very pleasant and kind. My brother had on a hat but he was very nice about letting him know they weren't allowed. The lady who pat the women down and checked purses was equally friendly. Although my sister had on sneakers she suggested getting some sandals quickly in order to come in. The hostess who sat us had a gentle smile. Also the manager. Beautiful with an even prettier spirit. She made special accommodations for our Party of 5. Drinks were decent no complaints. Well yesterday (Sunday) was a disaster at SALT!!! Got on the waitlist for 8 ppl and 2 of us ladies asked to go to the bathroom and we we'e allowed to go, but when 1 of the men asked to go to the bathroom he was told no. I went to the door to ask if he could go to the bathroom because I thought maybe he would let him go since he let us go. He said it was a NO for him until we were seated! He was a rude and cocky person that was representing this establishment. It's a sad day when you're about to spend hundreds of dollars and treated this way, so we left! They wouldn't even let us ladies stand inside the door out of the sweltering heat because they said it was a fire hazard if we were standing on the inside of the door. Yesterday was my second time going to this establishment and both times I was unimpressed by the lack of customer service. The first time was on my birthday and asked for medium cook Lamb Chops. My food came back well done and when I approached the waitresses regarding the meal she quickly caught and attitude and was very rude. The second time was yesterday. The service was worse! All our food was over seasoned (SALTy), and the waitress Jasmine was VERY RUDE was not attentive to her guests. We had to waive her down throughout our dinner, and her body language gave off a DONT CARE ATTITUDE. I went to SeaSalt Memphis on Saturday September 24Th. While entering I met the first security guard who checked my ID then patted me down and as I was standing there waiting while he patted my other friends down the security guard at the door yelled "No hoodies Mane" but the first security guard said nothing about what I had on. There was a dress code policy on the outside(that said no athletic gear) BUT no hoodie was NOT one of the items on the policy. So while I'm standing there waiting to get a call back from a friend to confirm if this is accurate, the security guard proceeds to talk about me to one of the customers coming into the establishment.I said to him you're not going to talk about me that's very disrespectful. After my friend Angie who was there to Sing pull up she said friend please go change so you can come back to hear me sing. I then went to my hotel to change because I was there to hear my friend Angie sing and we already had friends inside waiting on us. I then came back THEN they would not let me in until the Manager came out(in flip flops which are against the dress code policy) and she proceeded to wave her hands while talking to me telling me l've created a hostile environment because | made a social media post and said I was going to do a live Video the next day on how I was treated. We talk then she allows me to enter as I enter | see everything the dress code policy says you can't have on like Tennis shoes, plain T shirts shirts, sandals(which the manager had on) on their social media they have videos of their Saturday night live with individuals in there with sandals, ball caps, and tennis shoes on. So Sea Salt Memphis if you're going to set a dress code policy you need to be consistent with it across the board to everyone. Sounds a bit Discriminatory to me. Late posting, but back in February of this year, I went to celebrate a friend's birthday. Paid a cover charge only to be told that our table had to get up because there was another group of people waiting. The waitress was nasty when telling us this information. Her only suggestion was to find somewhere to sit at the bar or leave. I said right then and there "Never again." They have the potential to be a nice lounge. The aesthetics are really nice, but poor customer service, dollar tree flutes that breaks mid sipping on beverage, subpar food, (who puts baby drummies on an Eggo waffle and title the dish "Chicken & Waffles?) and then only having an hour at the table is a joke. I don't see this place being open much longer, especially if they cannot handle constructive criticism. And that's sad because it has so much potential to be a great spot. read more

I tried this establishment for the 2nd time, because my 1st time wasn't the best experience. I will say it was my last time patronizing. We ordered a hookah and was quoted $45. When the hookah arrived we were told the price went up to $58 gratuity included and you have to pay right now. Our waiter never advised separate payment for drinks and hookah, or gave us the option to say we wanted it at a higher cost. This was my very first visit here and I must say I am thoroughly pleased with my experience. I attended brunch on a Sunday around noonish with a group of 5 friends and we were luck enough to have been able to get seated right away(we came right before the crowd madness) .The host/hostess was very welcoming and very attentive to details. Even security was really nice. Our waiter name was Marcus and he was amazing from start to finish. We didn't have to wait too long to order our food and we were given sufficient time to make our selections. Marcus was very generous and greeted us with a big smile. He kept our cups full and serviced all of our needs. He even made a few jokes to keep the mood lively. The DJ kept us lit and kept all the vibes the entire time. I ordered the chicken and red velvet waffle. It was fluffy and delicious. The waffle was cooked to perfection drizzled with a sweet icing sauce that added the right touch of sweetness so much so that i didn't use any syrup.!!! OMG I can taste it as I'm typing this review!!! ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE!!! I also ordered the lamb chops and grits Togo !! The dish is definitely for someone who has diverse palette... It was so tender and well seasoned. The grits had great flavor. They complimented each other well. The prices were moderate and they do include gratuity in your tab.
