I've been to BarWare three times now, and each visit has been its own little adventure. Visit #1: Absolute perfection. The female bartender was on it--friendly, fast, and she introduced me to my new signature drink, the Hold On To Your Britches. If you like a sweet cocktail, prepare to fall in love. I only needed a small bite, so I tried the grilled cheese... and honestly, it was silly good. The kind of good that ruins all future grilled cheeses. Trust me: get it. Visit #2: Stopped in just for drinks. Still good, but service was slooooow. I would've ordered another round, but eventually tapped out. Visit #3: Visited for Downtown Dining Week. The Caesar salad was basically lettuce in a monologue--no cheese, no croutons, just lonely leaves in dressing. Entrées tasted good but were tiny. My pasta was so spicy I couldn't finish it, but the short ribs with mashed potatoes were legitimately delicious. When I go back for visit #4 (and I will), I'm sticking with what BarWare does best: that fruity cocktail and the holy-grail grilled cheese. The ambiance and seating options are too good to stay away, even if the service and a couple dishes miss the mark now and then. read more

If you are looking for a night out on the town this is the place to be. I went for drinks and ordered 2 different cocktails and they were delightful. Cocktails 1. Hold on to your britches 2. Emergency Helicopter I love the twinkle lights draping the ceiling it reminded me of stars. The restroom was nice and clean and the wait wasn't too bad. OMG this is such a cute spot! I enjoyed my experience so much. The vibe was really cool. The weather was so nice, so we chose to sit on the patio. To start we ordered drinks. I had the Rose All Day. It was so light and refreshing. It is definitely a must try! For my meal I had the Organic Greens salad. It has mixed greens, goat cheese, pecans, citrus honey vinaigrette. I ate the whole salad it was so filling. I will absolutely get it again. The service was so good as well. The price point is a little expensive, but not to pricey. I will be back soon! read more

I absolutely love the vibes an decor the food was great as always when I visited months ago but tonight Our waiter AM.B was absolutely rude. Very cut throat. Was very very rude. An made the group I came in with for a birthday party feel uncomfortable. I felt uncomfortable to even take pictures. I was offered shots from a guest at the bar an when I was telling him what I wanted the waiter walked up an said you could've just asked me for your drinks. Which we didn't order yet but we were OFFERED by someone else with a tab I will be back but I will make sure I don't sit at his section and just recommend a different place when I have a large group. I want to be in love with this place because the concept is great. I've sadly had super bad service each time I've been. Not because the team was rude, but because they were either understaffed or poorly trained to handle a full restaurant. There's never a host (or an indication to seat yourself) so I usually wait near the door awkwardly until I give up and find a table myself. The food is good but I think the restaurant should focus more on tapas. Ambiance is perfect, which is what keeps guests coming back! read more

Truly enjoyed this place!! Nick was our server and he was amazing. Great cocktail menu, small plates, etc. My friend and I both got dirty martinis (Belvedere vodka) with blue cheese stuffed olives. So so good!! For dinner we got the charcuterie platter and the lamb chops (shareable), and they were both absolutely delicious. We closed it out with a glass of Cabernet which we both enjoyed. We went on a Friday night, so the later it gets the more crowded it gets. We left, but still had a great time. Nice ambience, great service, and a great bartender. What a gem! I wanted to try a new place close to the Orpheum Memphis. I was pleasantly surprised when they offered a season ticket holder special for $20-25. The portions were the perfect size too. I ordered the Caesar salad, Wild Mushroom pasta and blueberry gelato. My husband ordered the French dip sandwich. The salad was tasty and they didn't skimp in the Parmesan shavings. The pasta was light and flavorful. We shared the blueberry gelato and I regret that decision! I should have kept the gelato to myself. We were visiting from out of town. We came here on Friday evening for some quick food but also came again on Saturday. I almost wish we didn't come on Saturday because the experience was horrific, embarrassing, disrespectful, and beyond rude. Friday: we had some bites/drinks. Deviled eggs & we each had a beef Wellington because it came highly recommended from local friends. Both were delish. Drinks were good. Our waiter was really nice, chatty, helpful, & delightful. Ambiance was dark, moody, romantic vibes. Saturday: we went to dinner at a different place then came by here for some drinks. It was way more crowded than it was on Friday. We stood at the bar for 30 minutes and patiently waited to be served. After I finally was able to get drinks I paid my $20 dollar tab that had an automatic 20% added and left a 20 dollar tip on top. So I tipped the bartender 120% of the tab. I kindly said to the bartender thank you for helping we've been waiting for 30 minutes, I'm a great tipper so I was hoping that the next drink I ordered I wouldn't had to wait 30 mins. -- well that didn't go over with her so well...she immediately snapped at my and made me feel embarrassed to be there. She started screaming at me and said if you don't like it then you can get the F*** out. We didn't even finish our drinks we left them on the bar and left. I have never been so disgusted and disrespected by an establishment. If we did not come here on Friday and truly enjoyed ourselves then I would have given this place a 1 star. Not sure what the bartenders name was but she should not be working in hospitality with that type of attitude and behavior towards paying patrons. It's not my mission on here to give people bad reviews, I love seeing local businesses thrive but feel the need to be honest about customer service. When we walked in we weren't greeted and had no idea where to sit. We ended up sitting at the bar. We watched the bartender greet and serve 2 other couples next to us with a smile. She got to us, no hey how are ya, she just stared at us and said y'all want something. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she didn't think we looked old enough to be ordering or she was having a bad night but when in the customer service business you can't treat people sitting side by side differently. My husband and I were pretty shocked at the difference. We stayed, got some really great drinks and the board but we felt extremely uncomfortable and like unwanted business. She barely checked on us and we had to wait for her to make eye contact to get her attention. I have worked in customer service and hospitality for years and don't think you should be in the people business if you can't be kind or treat people equally We would go back for drinks and the board! My favorite drinks downtown!!! They are so refreshing and strong without being too much. They aren't too fancy of drinks either - you know the places that put really fancy ingredients on the menu to where you don't even know what you're ordering and when you order it, it tastes like crap? Doesn't happen here. Their drinks are delicious. Emergincy Helicopter is my favorite (it has watermelon in it, yum!) I drank it so fast I didn't even get a picture. Fancy Ass Ice Pick is a close second. However, their food? PASS. $12 for a grilled cheese. I shouldn't have ordered it in the first place but who doesn't want food when they're drinking? Pass on their food, please. Go here for drinks and that's all. I was invited to the soft opening and loved the feel of the place. I guess I would describe it as upscale-casual. There's a long, very nice bar, along with a variety of other seating options from sofas to tables. However it was such a nice night, we spent most of our time outside on the patio. I don't know what the final menu will look like, but I can tell you that the appetizers that were being circulated were made in the house and we're absolutely fantastic. I can wait to see the final menu! Interestingly there is also a juice bar, which is seperate from the cocktail bar for those looking for a healthy option . I tried a few of the juices and they were delicious. The same could be said for the specialty cocktails that were being served (in fact I think they incorporate some of the juices from the juice bar in the cocktails). All in all this place will definitely be on my regular rotation. It has a unique and fun feel to it with great cocktails cold local beer and speedy professional bartenders...what more could one ask for?!?! You should definitely chexk this place out. read more

Service was decent too. Our waitress was new and didn't know answers to some of questions but was always eager to ask the bartenders. My friend and I both ordered 3 different drinks each... None of them were amazing. I started out with the Once Upon A Time in Mexico. I love tequila, but I was not into the smokey flavor. (I'm thinking it was the Los Vecinos mezcal). It was hard to get down, but momma didn't raise a quitter. I did a 10 second chug and ordered a Better Homes and Garden, which was better than the other but sub par. Then, I was like okay, I'm ordering my go to: a margarita. You can't really mess that up right... No. There was some strange bitter taste... I had to chug that drink too. At least for the price though, they are strong. So I was feeling good after those drinks. We also got the charcuterie board- it was good! My daughter turned me onto this charming and cozy yet sophisticated Smokey lounge spot (without the smoke mind you, just that kind of vibe) on Front street on our girls night at the Orpheum to see Lion King. Our server Jocelyn was so lovely and warm and knowledgeable, happy to offer suggestions from the drink and dinner menu. The menu is not huge but I rather liked that as I get overwhelmed by so many choices that take me away from chatting time with my dinner companions. We were all about noshing so we did the small plates and shared a charcuterie board and the kale salad and she enjoyed a fun craft cocktail (the Emergincy Helicopter) while I enjoyed a beautiful crisp Chardonnay. It was such a perfect evening that I returned a week later with my husband and some out of town guests. We got to see Jocelyn again and she helped us make some new selections on the menu...this time we all shared the charcuterie board and flat breads but ordered our own entrees. The pumpkin risotto was wonderful! We went one more time recently after a day of Christmas shopping. We got there just as they opened at 4pm, tired from the hustle bustle of the season and ready to sit and relax. There was our Jocelyn, all welcoming and smiling and wonderful. Another fantastic experience. We hear this place gets rather crowded later in the evenings (hey we are not youngsters anymore) but we have always been there between 4 and 7:30 and it has been perfect--not too crowded at all. We are brunchaholics - and love finding different places to try for brunch! I was excited after seeing the Bar Ware menu and my wife had been to the Juice Bar before so we invited the in laws out for brunch. Everyone besides myself for drinks from the Juice Bar and I had a few of their delicious mimosas. The mimosas were delicious and everyone enjoyed their various drinks. The brunch menu had 2 things that caught my eye, the first being the drunken waffles and the second being the crab cake Benedict. After waffling around about my tough decision, I chose the crab cake and was not disappointed at all. The egg was perfectly soft and runny - which for me is perfect - crab cake was really good and hollandaise sauce was nice. I would definitely have it again. My wife ordered the millennial toast and the in laws got the French dip. The French dip was okay by their standards, but they're picky so . The bread looked really good.
