    beef brisket plate
    Matt C.

I'd been recommended this place to try while I'm in town so I stopped in for dinner. I ordered my food to go but overall it was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small location with a small parking lot but I did find parking pretty easily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the beef brisket dinner, and it came with bread, a deviled egg, baked beans and potato salad. I also ordered an additional egg and a tamale. Everything tasted good but nothing was overly exciting or well seasoned. An easily forgettable meal. The price wasn't bad but I know I won't remember this place in a week. The meat wasn't particularly tender for a smoked brisket, and the sauce tasted store bought. I was really surprised by this experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]4 stars because everyone was friendly, the location was clean, the prices weren't bad and although not memorable, the food was good and I wasn't hungry afterwards.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Three Meat Combo with Mac and Cheese and Chips with Ranch

This is one of the best bbq places in Memphis. It's actually in Germantown, but still Memphis to me. Our server Madracus was absolutely amazing. He answered all of my questions with patience and never let us go empty on drinks or anything we might need. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is decorated with so many things it is hard to describe other than you need to go see it yourself. The decor is awesome and I believe they had good music playing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but I'll admit I am a little late posting this review. All of the meats were great, the Mac and Cheese is perfect, and the deviled eggs are just like I make at home, but without me having to go through the long process of making them. The only thing I believe anyone could ever complain about is parking. There is very little parking and most nearby businesses had signs saying they would have you towed if you park at their place. We got lucky after two trips around the block and caught someone leaving. We got the spot, but several others were doing the same thing so parking is definitely an issue.

Amazing bbq! Probably best in Memphis. Does not disappoint!! The sauce is delicious, sides were great too. I was too full for desserts, which are all homemade. Can't wait to try everything else!

Combo plate. Shoulder, brisket, ribs, beans, fried okra, deviled egg

This place has some great BBQ. I thought the price was on the expensive side at first but the portions are huge. I had 3 meals off the 3 meat combo plate. Everything I had here tasted pretty good. The Devil Egg, Banana Pudding, BBQ Chopped sandwich, ribs, fried okra, beans, brisket and coleslaw. Everything was tasty. I want to return. Parking is limited.

Germantown Commissary is located east of downtown Memphis, about a 20 minute drive. I had a two meat combo platter, which comes with two sides. I ordered brisket, half slab of ribs, coleslaw, and fried okra. The star of the platter were the ribs, full of smoky flavor and feel right off the bone. Brisket had good flavor, could have been a little bit more tender. Coleslaw was average, bit on the creamy side. Fried okra was average as well, some had a good crisp, some were mushy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small, so there is limited amount of indoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I observed that most people order takeout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall would come back just for the ribs!

Side of baked beans is the same size as ranch cup.

I called in a to go order here and was disappointed to find that my smoked wings were dry and my side of baked beans was the same size as my ranch container, which is crazy. This is one of the bbq locations that everyone raves about and it was my first time trying it. I was underwhelmed. Maybe it depends on what you order.

Ribs, Pulled Shoulder, Fries, and Potato Salad

Food was gas. Got the pulled shoulder, ribs, fries, and potato salad. Meat was juicy, tender and smoked really well. Fries were very good. Potato salad was solid. Tea is very good as well. Service was fantastic. Waiter constantly checked on us and made everything was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere is dark but not in a bad way. Exactly what you would want from a bbq restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place is my new favorite spot!

Inside is nice tables and chairs or you can get it to go. Service is top notch. Probably the best thing in this establishment. Some coworkers stated this was really good and to give a go. The Bbq....meh. I got a three meat combo. With pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. Dry, dry, dry. All the sauce in the world can't get that bbq down. The coleslaw was great. The beans were alright. Not a fan of the meat. Like other reviews stated, the meat probably sat under a heat lamp. I tend to agree. No flavor on the meat, and the deviled egg was bland. Three stars for the excellent service. Props to the ladies running the floor.

BBQ Pork Salad & Side of Onion Rings
    Michelle L.

I was only in Memphis for a day and a half but of course I had to have BBQ once. I was staying in Germantown so I decided on Germantown Commissary. I walked in just after 11 when they opened on a weekday. I decided on the BBQ Pork Salad (gotta eat something green) with Honey Mustard and a side order of the Beer Battered Onion Rings. I tried the regular and spicy BBQ sauces. They are both good but I would have liked some more heat in the spicy sauce. Loved the tender pork shoulder but the onion rings were the star of the show. So crisp, hot, and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive.

How do I cook the smoked turkey I got for thanksgiving, had no instructions?

If it's smoked, it's already cooked. Set it out for 30 - 1hr+ before your meal, til it's at room temp. If you want to warm it, I recommend slicing some of it, & placing it on a baking sheet, cover with foil & warm it in the oven.

The days where restaurants were grateful to have you as patron & treated you that way to earn your continued patronage, seem to be part of the good ole days gone by. That is not the case with The Skybox Grill. I went once on a weekday & once on a hopping Friday night. Both times I left full & happy. If you're into that "Cheers" feeling, this is your place. The staff is so welcoming & kind. You feel good being there with the lively atmosphere & great people all around & the delicious food puts it a step above the rest. On the weekday lunch visit, I saw moms & kids, families, business men/women, folks at the bar glued to the game & those sitting by theirselves with their newspaper as their companion. All appeared to be welcome & content. The prices are comparable with others, but the quality & consistency of their food is much better. The portions are large enough to share or take home leftovers for another meal. The fresh made food is so yummy & getting fresh, quality food for the same as you'd spend at a fast food joint these days, makes it the perfect spot to have a great meal or grab to go that's a cut above the rest. Often, they host fundraising events in support of the local communities or have fun bands & always there is more than 15 tvs with all the sports going. Somehow, they're able to have everything in one, that works so completely cohesively. It's the perfect go to for brunch, lunch, dinner or a lively date night out. Wether you're the whole family full of kids, a lady lunching with friends, a guy grabbing a quick lunch, a couple on a date night or a whole group of friends meeting up for a night out, this place is perfect. Super safe and just minutes outside of Memphis, it's not only a gem for the Collierville folks, but easily accessible for the whole Memphis area. Perfect for taking out of town guest for a relaxed & casual dining experience too. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed!

Our waitress was outstanding! She was friendly, attentive, and did an excellent job recommending the seasonal specialties. Her recommendations were spot on and made our experience even better. We chose to sit on the patio, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. It made for a relaxing evening with great food and an even better atmosphere. The warm bread with butter is always a favorite, and the carrot cake with toasted pecans and rich caramel sauce... it comes to play every single time--no games! I knew it was incorrect by the shape, also it was very hard to cut and even chew. That's a NY strip all day and night and I never choose NY strip for that reason. I spoke to the manager and showed him my struggle and he put in for a new ribeye. The second ribeye was the correct way and easier to cut and chew. The manger even stated he could now tell the difference between the two steaks. I am not in the business of sending food back but I was so unhappy with that NY strip especially being that it was my second time pointed the error out. I am not sure how the steaks are laid out, but I would hope whoever is over the steaks would know a ribeye from a strip. I even pointed out the strip of fat in the strip steak. Ambience is still nice, but with everything time will change things. My chocolate birthday cake was delicious, carrot cake always a favorite and the cream corn brûlée was really good! I'm not sure it will be a third visit for a ribeye unless I order the bone in, but I will continue to stop in for carrot cake. It was an early birthday celebration for me and I do appreciate the manger coming to correct the situation without being rude or telling me that it was a ribeye. He fixed the issue without any back and forth and for that I am very thankful. Our waiter was nice, but I think he got busy and. forgot to put in the creamed spinach and the creamed corn brûlée because it came out later.

That nostalgic feeling of being in a beautiful tavern is pure delight. Absolutely beautiful restaurant, truly deserves limelight recognition in Germantown. Our darling Annalise server was extremely friendly. We loved the presentation of our dinner, but the octopus was a bit soft for our taste. I've had plenty of octopus in other cities and understand the dish is typically more expensive, but a small single mediocre tentacle is quite pricey for $28. I personally prefer a crispy and firmer chew for octopus. The scallops and shishito peppers were a delightful pairing. Valet parking shouldn't be forced upon the customer though? I felt bad that I don't carry cash to tip the valet, and valet is mandatory unless you want to park on the side streets and walk over. Do carry any cash! I wish that a portion of the parking lot was open for self parking though as those boys don't need to help out every guest who don't need valet and subjecting them to wait around for the boys to grab cars that we're perfectly capable of doing ourselves.

For some, this is a bad thing, and for some it's a good thing; it just depends on what floats your boat. Nevertheless, lest I digress. After some research, I found this place while traveling in Memphis, TN, called Corky's Ribs and BBQ. So, I invited two colleagues with me and went. Let me say that, truly, it was worth the wait for me. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw, baked beans, and a side of Twice-Baked Potato Salad. The waitress asked me how I wanted them: dry-rubbed, wet, or muddy. I was looking at her like she had three heads, and she explained what each meant. So, I went on the wild side (no judgment) and asked for muddy. My colleagues all ordered the same, and one ordered some Pork Burnt Ends , which were to die for. Ladies and gentlemen, or should I say, "folks," you're talking about some good eating in that place. As much as I wanted to eat all of it in this sitting, it would have been a sin and shame to eat all that food in one sitting. So, I did that ladylike thing and ate half, boxed up the rest to eat for dinner the next day, and called it a day. But wait, she brought out the rolls, which were still in the oven cooking as we were eating. Corkey, you know you are so wrong (in a good way), bringing out delicious rolls like that; are you kidding me? If you are in Memphis, TN, or passing through, check them out. The hospitality and atmosphere were wonderful. BTW, I heard our waitress reading off the dessert menu to a couple next to us, and I asked for my check quickly so I would not be tempted to order some or take it to go.
