My wife and I ate dinner at The Commisary in Germantown(Memphis, TN) . We had the rib dinner for two. The meal consists of baked beans, Cole slaw, a deviled egg for each and dinner rolls. We were seated immediately by a very friendly hostess and then greeted by our waitress. She is clearly someone's Grandma! She was extremely cordial and attentive....just like your Grandma would be if you sat down at her dinner table! The food was delicious and maybe the best ribs I've ever had! The meat was perfectly smoked, with a great Smokey flavor and a rich bark on the outside. I'm talking about sucking on the bones to get that last bit of BBQ taste. This is one of the best bbq places in Memphis. It's actually in Germantown, but still Memphis to me. Our server Madracus was absolutely amazing. He answered all of my questions with patience and never let us go empty on drinks or anything we might need. The place is decorated with so many things it is hard to describe other than you need to go see it yourself. The decor is awesome and I believe they had good music playing, but I'll admit I am a little late posting this review. All of the meats were great, the Mac and Cheese is perfect, and the deviled eggs are just like I make at home, but without me having to go through the long process of making them. The only thing I believe anyone could ever complain about is parking. There is very little parking and most nearby businesses had signs saying they would have you towed if you park at their place. We got lucky after two trips around the block and caught someone leaving. We got the spot, but several others were doing the same thing so parking is definitely an issue. read more

Got the 2 meat meal with brisket and ribs along with sides of bbq beans and Cole slaw which had a deviled egg on top of it. I ordered brisket, half slab of ribs, coleslaw, and fried okra. The star of the platter were the ribs, full of smoky flavor and feel right off the bone. Brisket had good flavor, could have been a little bit more tender. Coleslaw was average, bit on the creamy side. Fried okra was average as well, some had a good crisp, some were mushy. This is my third time eating here. The first two times were before the pandemic and times have changed. Inside is still the same rustic building it was years ago. Outside of the fly that was pestering me during my meal, the place is clean. Service was good. There appeared to be only one server for the side of the dinning room I was in but she was moving, and I and the other tables lacked for nothing. I ordered the two meat combo plate. Picked ribs and hot link for the proteins. Ribs were tough and lacked flavor to me. Definitely different than the last time. The hot link was good but you can't really go wrong with sausage. The sauce helped just a tad with the ribs but I ended up only eating half of it. The coleslaw was good. The baked beans had a ketchup taste to them so I didn't care for them too much. We have family in town for a funeral. Ordered food tonight on a Wednesday and no parking anywhere including church and shops. Called to get help on $130 order and hostess told me to have someone jump out of car to pickup (single driver) and did I want to talk to a manger. I said yes. Manager was SO RUDE! He told me I was wrong and he was looking at a spot that just opened up and he could park there. My fiancée had been circling so long he ended up at the animal shelter! When I asked if they would hold it he said no. They were too busy. I've never met a more rude manager and I worked in restaurant business for years.
