    beef brisket plate
    Matt C.

I'd been recommended this place to try while I'm in town so I stopped in for dinner. I ordered my food to go but overall it was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small location with a small parking lot but I did find parking pretty easily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the beef brisket dinner, and it came with bread, a deviled egg, baked beans and potato salad. I also ordered an additional egg and a tamale. Everything tasted good but nothing was overly exciting or well seasoned. An easily forgettable meal. The price wasn't bad but I know I won't remember this place in a week. The meat wasn't particularly tender for a smoked brisket, and the sauce tasted store bought. I was really surprised by this experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]4 stars because everyone was friendly, the location was clean, the prices weren't bad and although not memorable, the food was good and I wasn't hungry afterwards.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Three Meat Combo with Mac and Cheese and Chips with Ranch

This is one of the best bbq places in Memphis. It's actually in Germantown, but still Memphis to me. Our server Madracus was absolutely amazing. He answered all of my questions with patience and never let us go empty on drinks or anything we might need. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is decorated with so many things it is hard to describe other than you need to go see it yourself. The decor is awesome and I believe they had good music playing[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but I'll admit I am a little late posting this review. All of the meats were great, the Mac and Cheese is perfect, and the deviled eggs are just like I make at home, but without me having to go through the long process of making them. The only thing I believe anyone could ever complain about is parking. There is very little parking and most nearby businesses had signs saying they would have you towed if you park at their place. We got lucky after two trips around the block and caught someone leaving. We got the spot, but several others were doing the same thing so parking is definitely an issue.

Amazing bbq! Probably best in Memphis. Does not disappoint!! The sauce is delicious, sides were great too. I was too full for desserts, which are all homemade. Can't wait to try everything else!

Combo plate. Shoulder, brisket, ribs, beans, fried okra, deviled egg

This place has some great BBQ. I thought the price was on the expensive side at first but the portions are huge. I had 3 meals off the 3 meat combo plate. Everything I had here tasted pretty good. The Devil Egg, Banana Pudding, BBQ Chopped sandwich, ribs, fried okra, beans, brisket and coleslaw. Everything was tasty. I want to return. Parking is limited.

Germantown Commissary is located east of downtown Memphis, about a 20 minute drive. I had a two meat combo platter, which comes with two sides. I ordered brisket, half slab of ribs, coleslaw, and fried okra. The star of the platter were the ribs, full of smoky flavor and feel right off the bone. Brisket had good flavor, could have been a little bit more tender. Coleslaw was average, bit on the creamy side. Fried okra was average as well, some had a good crisp, some were mushy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small, so there is limited amount of indoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I observed that most people order takeout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall would come back just for the ribs!

Side of baked beans is the same size as ranch cup.

I called in a to go order here and was disappointed to find that my smoked wings were dry and my side of baked beans was the same size as my ranch container, which is crazy. This is one of the bbq locations that everyone raves about and it was my first time trying it. I was underwhelmed. Maybe it depends on what you order.

Ribs, Pulled Shoulder, Fries, and Potato Salad

Food was gas. Got the pulled shoulder, ribs, fries, and potato salad. Meat was juicy, tender and smoked really well. Fries were very good. Potato salad was solid. Tea is very good as well. Service was fantastic. Waiter constantly checked on us and made everything was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere is dark but not in a bad way. Exactly what you would want from a bbq restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place is my new favorite spot!

Inside is nice tables and chairs or you can get it to go. Service is top notch. Probably the best thing in this establishment. Some coworkers stated this was really good and to give a go. The Bbq....meh. I got a three meat combo. With pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. Dry, dry, dry. All the sauce in the world can't get that bbq down. The coleslaw was great. The beans were alright. Not a fan of the meat. Like other reviews stated, the meat probably sat under a heat lamp. I tend to agree. No flavor on the meat, and the deviled egg was bland. Three stars for the excellent service. Props to the ladies running the floor.

BBQ Pork Salad & Side of Onion Rings
    Michelle L.

I was only in Memphis for a day and a half but of course I had to have BBQ once. I was staying in Germantown so I decided on Germantown Commissary. I walked in just after 11 when they opened on a weekday. I decided on the BBQ Pork Salad (gotta eat something green) with Honey Mustard and a side order of the Beer Battered Onion Rings. I tried the regular and spicy BBQ sauces. They are both good but I would have liked some more heat in the spicy sauce. Loved the tender pork shoulder but the onion rings were the star of the show. So crisp, hot, and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive.

How do I cook the smoked turkey I got for thanksgiving, had no instructions?

If it's smoked, it's already cooked. Set it out for 30 - 1hr+ before your meal, til it's at room temp. If you want to warm it, I recommend slicing some of it, & placing it on a baking sheet, cover with foil & warm it in the oven.

They are a few tables outside in front of the restaurant to eat. There is also a small dining area with a television. The dinner room is on the older side and could have used a good cleaning. Apparently, if you plan on dining in, you grab a table and you will be served, but that was not very clear so I placed my order at the counter. The staff there was ok. They did their job. The restaurant has an efficient menu that includes ribs, chicken, sausage, pulled pork and brisket. And of course they have your favorite sides including salads, mac & cheese, backed beans, string beans, deviled eggs, potato salad, and french fries, sweet potato fries and cole slaw. There are even a few desserts to choose from. This place offers catering if you are looking. I ordered the pulled pork dinner with potato salad and baked beans. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food. It was ok or average. I was not a major fan of any of it. The potato salad was pretty bland. The brisket seemed a bit under cooked and was seasoned after the fact. It was covered with some seasoning salt after it was cooked. When that is done, it has been my experience that it is to hide something. Anyway, the service/staff was ok, the food was ok, and the ambiance was ok. So, the restaurant rates am "ok" (3 star rating) in my opinion.

Ordered bbq pork nachos, pulled pork sandwich, and 1/3 rack of ribs. The option of different size rack is nice since you may not always eat it all. Everything was so good as always. I will have to remember to ask for more jalapeños in the nachos as I like a lot of them. Tried the banana pudding for dessert and it was scrumptious. Definitely try it if you get a chance! Place was decorated well and had a great feel with some oldies playing the background. Place could have been a little cleaner but not much to complain about. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and helping us decide what we wanted. My husband and myself got 'The Police', a burger with brisket, a 1/4 lb patty, cheese, bbq sauce, pickle and mayo (we opted out on the onion) and we ordered the meal and chose fries. Meal comes out super fresh and piping hot. Fries were crispy, crunchy, and hot. The brisket was cooked very well and basically melted in your mouth, as for the beef patty.. it was flavored well and made the burger even better. And BBQ sauce was on point. Overall I'd eat here again next time I take a trip out here. Well done.

For some reason, I had been craving (Disclaimer: NOT pregnant) BBQ ribs for a couple of weeks…read more Another disclaimer: I find myself, as I'm getting seasoned, not wanting to eat as much meat as I used to. For some, this is a bad thing, and for some it's a good thing; it just depends on what floats your boat. Nevertheless, lest I digress. After some research, I found this place while traveling in Memphis, TN, called Corky's Ribs and BBQ. So, I invited two colleagues with me and went. Let me say that, truly, it was worth the wait for me. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs with coleslaw, baked beans, and a side of Twice-Baked Potato Salad. The waitress asked me how I wanted them: dry-rubbed, wet, or muddy. I was looking at her like she had three heads, and she explained what each meant. So, I went on the wild side (no judgment) and asked for muddy. My colleagues all ordered the same, and one ordered some Pork Burnt Ends , which were to die for. Ladies and gentlemen, or should I say, "folks," you're talking about some good eating in that place. As much as I wanted to eat all of it in this sitting, it would have been a sin and shame to eat all that food in one sitting. So, I did that ladylike thing and ate half, boxed up the rest to eat for dinner the next day, and called it a day. But wait, she brought out the rolls, which were still in the oven cooking as we were eating. Corkey, you know you are so wrong (in a good way), bringing out delicious rolls like that; are you kidding me? If you are in Memphis, TN, or passing through, check them out. The hospitality and atmosphere were wonderful. BTW, I heard our waitress reading off the dessert menu to a couple next to us, and I asked for my check quickly so I would not be tempted to order some or take it to go.
