My wife and I ate dinner at The Commisary in Germantown(Memphis, TN) . We had the rib dinner for two. The meal consists of baked beans, Cole slaw, a deviled egg for each and dinner rolls. We were seated immediately by a very friendly hostess and then greeted by our waitress. She is clearly someone's Grandma! She was extremely cordial and attentive....just like your Grandma would be if you sat down at her dinner table! The food was delicious and maybe the best ribs I've ever had! The meat was perfectly smoked, with a great Smokey flavor and a rich bark on the outside. I'm talking about sucking on the bones to get that last bit of BBQ taste. This is one of the best bbq places in Memphis. It's actually in Germantown, but still Memphis to me. Our server Madracus was absolutely amazing. He answered all of my questions with patience and never let us go empty on drinks or anything we might need. We have family in town for a funeral. Ordered food tonight on a Wednesday and no parking anywhere including church and shops. Called to get help on $130 order and hostess told me to have someone jump out of car to pickup (single driver) and did I want to talk to a manger. I said yes. Manager was SO RUDE! He told me I was wrong and he was looking at a spot that just opened up and he could park there. My fiancée had been circling so long he ended up at the animal shelter! I was raised on the Commissary starting in the 80s. I remember this building before they built the dining side on the left. I've had other Memphis BBQ but none of it compares to the commissary.
