I had a great experience at Collierville Commissary on 5/9/26. I got there with my sister and niece at dinner time. We were seated right away. The ambiance was attractive . The waiter was polite and so helpful with suggestions concerning our orders. I ordered the catfish plate, subbing French fries for onion rings. The catfish was crunchy and flaky. The hush puppies and coleslaw were A plus. The portions were generous., Both my sister and niece ordered the slab of ribs for two along with, slaw, potato salad and bread. They gave us complimentary deviled eggs. There was an issue with the my niece's tickets totals but got cleared. ( she ordered dine in and takeout) We will be eating there again. read more

Ended up taking half of it home. Service was spot on. Our server Larissa was fantastic. She was patient and attentive. She checked on us frequently and was very nice. Bathroom was spacious and clean. The restaurant reminds me of a large homey cabin. It was clean and inviting. The tables have picnic like cloths with the menu under the plexiglass. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday around 2:00. Hostess was irritated when we asked for a table instead of a booth and went on and on about how literally nobody prefers a table over a booth. We were eventually seated at a table where a waitress stopped by and said she would get to us when she could. Rather large establishment inside, but maybe they were short staffed...I'm not sure why they all had attitude. We ended up getting a different waitress who was ok, but the food was terrible. The onion rings were really good and the only thing we would recommend. The bbq tasted like it had been cooked in a crockpot. Zero flavor. I only ate half of it because it wasn't worth eating. I'm not a BBQ or Southern Food person, so take my review with a grain of salt. The food here is good but it's just not memorable to me. I came back with friends because my friend's mom wanted BBQ. I got the Hot Link Sandwich plate and it was really good. My husband got the brisket and I'm not gonna lie, it was terrible. It was tough, tasted bad, and was all around unpleasant. Luckily, the onion rings I'd gotten as a side were delicious so I shared those with him. I mean I shared my sandwich too but the onion rings were the highlight of the night for everyone because they came with enough that all four of us were able to have a few and I was still able to eat a satisfying night. The other highlight was, as always, THE BANANA PUDDING WHICH IS ALWAYS AMAZING~! You practically HAVE to get it. It's required. And delicious. Freaking do it. Food: 1/4 chicken plate. The presentation was nice, at first glance it looked baked chicken. Chicken was tender, fall of the bone! The restaurant looks unique. It is fun to look around at all the decorations. the briskt was just too dry and had no flavor. brisket is supposed to be tender and juciy but it was chewy like tough bacon. I guess I should have asked them to replace it because it was bad. I am not sure if that's how it always is everywhere but it definitely wasn't how I thought it had been described by other people. Let me start off by saying that the staff was great and attentive. The ambiance was fine as well. Resembled that of a old school BBQ diner joint. Now for the food, the meat was a bit too dry for my liking, but had a good Smokey flavor to it. The sauces were very standard BBQ sauces. One mild, one hot. The Hot wasn't actually spicy, but did have a slightly greater oomph of flavor when compared to the mild. Overall the pulled pork sandwich was a 5/10. The Mac and cheese was a 7/10. Fries were pretty good and I could see how they'd be good with if made into fry nachos. We also ordered the pig skins with cheese. They were good. Very airy and the seasoning on them was delicious and trying them with the cheese was pretty interesting and new for us. Sweet tea was superb! Popped in for an early lunch on a super rainy day this week as I've never been. My waitress was amazing and suuuuuper helpful in her recommends. I liked the eclectic decor and rustic feel of this bbq/sports bar place. Prices are high for what is mediocre at best. Brisket is super thinly sliced and tends to be dry. Chopped brisket sandwich is deliciously moist but lacks flavor, a good char or smoke ring. Onion rings are hand battered but served with ketchup which I find disgusting as I don't like ketchup. I'd rather ranch or a spicy creole sauce. So I spiced them up with a dry season, hot sauce and bbq sauce. They gave 2 kinds of bbq sauce on tables, mild & spicy. The spicy tasted exactly like the mild and was ragingly dissapointing . I do like that they have house made pies and the lemon icebox pie looked fantastic. Will I go back? Sadly no. I'm usually not this harsh, but I have to be. If you were going to serve barbecue, especially ribs, learn how to pull the membrane off the back of the rack. You prevent any seasonings from getting inside the meat and guess what I got served cardboard. That rack was so dry. I don't care how much sauce you put on it. It was hard to choke down. The Brunswick stew that's another story. Vegetable soup with barbecue sauce in it and absolutely no meat. The two dinner rolls that they put on my plate were so hard. I could probably drive over them with my ram 1500 and then not break. The potato salad was somewhat decent. For appetizers, we had cheese rings which are onion rings, swimming in nacho sauce, which were pretty forgettable and tamales, which were pretty decent. We also had a side of hush puppies, they were good. You really can't screw those up. The waitress was pretty good and it was fairly quiet in there, now I see why. read more

Went with my son and grandson for barbecue. They have recently moved from Florida where there essentially was no barbecue. They absolutely loved it. The ribs were plentiful and the pulled pork was so tender & juicy. Slaw and beans were on point. Seasoned fries were hot and crispy. In general Corkys is decent Memphis BBQ, the service is a bit above average and the food wont embarrass you in front of a client, or family and friends for suggesting this place. On the other hand, the drive through is the slowest on the planet. The line only holds 3-4 cars, but it has taken me nearly 20 minutes to get to the window, four cars back. Chick-fil-A can do 100's of cars in 20 minutes...but not this place. read more

We did a carry out order for a family gathering of about 20 at our house. BBQ in Memphis is readily available but the Commissary is one of the best. This standalone location is in a bigger complex with lots of stores and restaurants. There is plenty of parking. We had to wait a bit for a table, I think we came at the end of the dinner rush as they were cleaning up tables. Our server was helpful and made suggestions as we were placing our order. Now to the food, the ribs were good with some fat, the brisket was interesting it seemed to be smoked and then grilled (mixed feelings about this) but it was thick but a bit tougher than I refer. The green beans are ok, it was a nice touch to add the deviled egg to every meal. I would rate the deviled egg as decent, a little too much paprika for me. The baked beans were ok as well. read more

Brisket was better than anticipated! Pulled pork was decent but could have been pulled a little more. The larger pieces take rather plain. We also had the nachos, for some reason I thought the pork was better on those! Was dreaming of white nacho cheese sauce based or another bbq experience, but the nacho cheese sauce sufficed. Mac n cheese was fine, I wouldn't get it again. Hush puppies were pretty good. BBQ sauce was decent too. Ribs still had the film on the bottom when it came out. Not sure if that's normal for this establishment. They were very thin on the meat, but tasted decent. Downside was it took almost our whole meal before one of our plates was brought out. I love the atmosphere of this location as it was chosen for our monthly group luncheon , however I didn't realize until today that although 20% gratuity was automatically added to our checks the waitress took more from my change. My total which included the 20% was $20.11. I didn't have any coins so I gave her a $20 bill and a $10 bill. Today while changing wallets, I noticed that I had a five and four ones. I've been a customer for years & it's always been good. Went this past Sunday & ordered a chopped Barbecue sandwich plate. Looked at barbecue & it wasn't chopped at all. Sent it back & waitress brought it back looking the same way. I asked for a manager & no one ever showed came to table. Stopped a lady walking by & asked her was she the manager & she said well no I'm from the Germantown restaurant but what do you need. It was in big pieces, stringy & dry. I tried to eat it but it was awful. I told our waitress I just can't eat it. She said she understood. She took the plate back & I said get me a barbecue bologna sandwich & I'll just take it home cause by then my family was done eating. She said the barbecue plate will be taken off our bill & the sandwich would be free. I thought well since they never got it right then they are trying to do something about it. She brought the ticket & I was charged for the bologna sandwich which was a piece of bologna on a dry bun-no sauce or slaw. this was the worst ever & our bill was $65. What has happened to the Collierville Commissary? This had been a regular go to place for my husband and I since it opened. We've taken friends and relatives there. I'm afraid we won't be going back anytime soon. The last time we went it was marginally ok. Yesterday lunch was terrible. My husband had a chopped pork sandwich plate. The pork was plentiful but tasteless and dry. His barbeque beans were so hot and spicy they were inedible. I had a barbecue chicken plate. Again, servings were plentiful. The chicken was dry and totally unseasoned. Since it had no sauce, I would call it smoked rather than barbeque chicken. I had green beans and mac and cheese as my side dishes. The mac and cheese consisted of noodles in a runny sauce. The green beans, like my husbands barbeque beans, were so spicy I couldn't eat them. The roll I was served was extremely stale. Both our deviled eggs had a strange taste. This food was totally different from what we've had in the past. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. May just be an adjustment to avoid raising prices but seems like quality has fallen. I'd gladly have paid extra for the same experience I was accustomed to. That's the entire reason we chose it. I've eaten here several times but I never remember leaving a review. I stopped here alone on a shopping trip Saturday and it was as good as it's ever been. Although I think Germantown is still my favorite! The service was great, the food was even better. I had the homemade chips for appetizer (Pig Chips) and the BBQ pulled pork plate. The portions are enough for two. Except the little roll, it's good, but tiny. This is my all time favorite BBQ. I've always thought that it gets looked over too often. read more

My cousin MB lives in Collierville and brought us BBQ-hungry cousins to this fun spot. Part sports bar (flat screens are plentiful) part kitschy BBQ shack, it has a nice authentic Tennessee feel. The warm smell of slow-roasted meat envelops you at the door and keeps your salivary glands perked up. I decided to get the Memphis-style pulled pork platter, served with baked beans and Cole slaw, topped with half a deviled egg and a pepperoncini pepper. The BBQ was topped with a sassy and sweet sauce that I scraped from my plate. The beans were nothing special, but the Cole slaw was crunchy, creamy, piquant, and yummy, especially when used to top a bite of meat on a piece of cornbread. Heaven! I don't know if it's just this particular one, but I was not happy with my experience. Firstly, we had to wade through all the people standing at the front door. I guess they were waiting for takeout because the dining room was practically empty. The server seating us ushered us to a booth, and our server came right over to introduce himself. Very pleasant and attentive. We hear screaming and shouting coming from the other side of the seat, and thinking someone is arguing, I don't turn around. But then we realized it was someone watching a horror movie! At full volume! We had to practically yell at each other to have a conversation. The food came out quickly, 1/2 a slab and a chicken sandwich, not pleased at all... the sandwich was dry, basically a piece of chicken breast on a hoagie bun. No sauce of any kind, not even a piece of lettuce! The ribs, although cooked well, were sub-par, in my opinion, to the ribs I've had at the original Commissary. I was very disappointed. Back to the person watching the movie. It turns out it was an employee! I sincerely hope she was on her break! We were the only ones in this part of the restaurant, and again, the place was empty, so why seat us there and isn't there a designated area for employees to take their breaks? When we left, again, there was a congregation of folks at the podium where the seating person stands, this time mostly employees. It was a bottle neck as if you're merging onto 240 from 385. Arrived with a large party, we called ahead so, they had two tables for us. The staff said they could combine the two together, but it would be an L shape, which would give them room to serve our meals. The portions were great, not bad for the price. Our waiter was great, and funny. As we joked around with each other, he joined in, after being drawn into our group. What a job in keeping up with who ordered what.
