I stopped in after hunting got me some food and ended up getting food poisoning. I've never been so sick in my life.

Brad's Bar-B-Q - Over priced ham sandwich. $8.50

I ordered the hot ham sandwich for $8.50. It came out cold with only one thin slice of ham that…read moreonly covered half the bread. My wife had the hot turkey sandwich and it was the same way. We have visited their other two locations in Oakland and Bartlett and they are great! Go there and leave this alone. Not worth the money.

When I was in elementary school, I was in the CLUE program for so-called advanced student. For an…read moreassignment, we were asked to pick a place and form a tourist logo for it using the first letter of the town and the first letter of the state it is in. I came up with two, Predominately Arid for Phoenix, Arizona and Milking Territory for Moscow, TN. Which slogan did I go with... As a kid, my dad used to drive me through Moscow all the time, and I clearly remembered a dairy farm on all those trips. So it was great to drive through Moscow again recently to visit Brad's BBQ. Brad's BBQ has been around for over 35 years, and now is a chain with locations in Moscow, Oakland, and Bartlett. On this visit, I tried the regular BBQ sandwich with slaw. The meat in the sandwich has a crunchy, almost bacon-like, texture. They prepare the bun properly and the slaw is okay. Overall, an okay sandwich. ... So I told my CLUE teacher that I liked the Milking Territory slogan better than the Predominately Arid slogan. Besides, I had been to Moscow several times and loved it. Nevertheless, these slogans we were making were going to be posted outside the classroom door for all to see, and passerbys would probably be more impressed with Predominately Arid. My CLUE teacher, who shall remain nameless, lobbied hard that I go with "Phoenix, Arizona: Predominately Arid". I caved in and regret it to this day. Here's hopin' this review makes up for that :)

I went here on a recommendation from a friend who spends time in the Oxford area on business and…read moreloves BBQ. She had never been herself, mind you. She just said that she heard about "a shack in the middle of nowhere with great ribs." I had to kill half my phone's battery to find a mention of the place that had an address. As for the business hours and phone number? Forget about it. But the lure was enticing - a small family-run grocery with no seating and raved-about smoked meats. And the name itself (supposedly the Mom's name of the Mom and Pop proprietors) was enough for me to go in search of it. When and if you go on this quest and your GPS directs you to get on Old Oxford Road off of 7 *NORTH OF* the 310 junction, ignore it and get on Old Oxford Road where it joins 7 below 310. Because if you do that, my friends, it's the very first property you come across. And if you do what I did and put your faith in your smart phone, you will end up on a very long roundabout which is only partially paved and you car's paint job and suspension will thank me if you don't do that. And if you are looking at the map right next to this review and not understanding how that can be, that's because THE MAP IS LYING TO YOU. I told Yelp where to put the red-star marker thingy and they are ignoring me. It should be waaaaay below where it is, at the other point where 7 and 310 meet. However you get there, when you get there the grocery is really just that by appearances. Most of the other customers (and there were a few) were there for beer. There's room for about a dozen cars to park, but there would be more if the rusted out car cemetery was cleared out of the backyard. There is a table inside the space but it looks like it's set up for a private late-night poker game or the family's on-site meals and meetings. In other words, it doesn't look like it's there for you. Even though there was no sign anywhere indicating that they had hot food and the lunch meats behind the deli counter looked like they didn't see much action, when I asked the nice gentleman behind the counter if he had any BBQ, he did indeed. Ribs and pulled pork. We got one of each. Ribs turned out to be a pork rack with a container of sauce on the side. The sauce was closer to sweet and sour sauce in taste and consistency. The ribs had decent flavor to them but were not fall-off-the-bone tender. They didn't fight too hard to get off the bone either, though. The pulled pork ended up being a sandwich. The pork was tasty but there wasn't enough of it compared to the large and partially stale bun. The coleslaw was creamy and fresh but I'm also fairly certain it wasn't homemade. I can't fault them too much for the food. As the draw to them comes from the fact that they are in the middle of nowhere, the problem with being in the middle of nowhere is you don't get many customers. It's not like the smoker was on (or even in view). I can't fault them for the supply/demand logistics of sporadic customers for a product that takes hours to prepare. But I can fault them for the price. We paid too much, in my opinion. A rack of ribs, one underwhelming sandwich, and a bottle of soda came to $23. I don't know what cost what since there's no itemized receipt. But the draw for you, I'd imagine, if you've read all of this, is saying that you drove to the middle of nowhere Mississippi, to a shack called Betty Davis, for some BBQ. And that's a worthy quest, no matter what I thought of my meal. Go for it.

This is my favorite bbq in Mississippi, and that's saying a lot!…read moreAs a Mississippi local raised on some of the best bbq in the area, I can easily say Betty Davis is the best. The ribs are straightforward because they don't need much adornment. They are cooked perfectly and served with a delicious, tangy/slightly spicy sauce. Betty Davis forever!!!!

After a short wait to get inside to order (only 4 people will fit inside) we chose the pulled pork sandwich platter- comes with 2 sides, since slaw was in the sandwich I chose, baked beans and fries. My husband got the same with sides of slaw and beans. The man working was busy, but didn't rush us, was really pleasant and when my husband asked for sweet tea, he explained they didn't have it, but gave us lemonade ( pink lemonade that was really good) and took our phone number and we waited in the truck for our order- after 15 minutes or so they called. I went and got the order, and the fun began. The bun was jumbo and toasted, the pork was hot, pulled and perfectly portioned, had a great mix of "bark"in it, nice sauce and great crunchy slaw- the sauce and slaw complimented the meat, but did not overpower it, the smoky pork was the star of the show! The beans were hot and had hamburger meat and BBQ in them, the slaw had an apple taste which was very nice, rough chopped with great crunch! Fries were overdone, but I was there for the BBQ. We are both KCBS certified judges and my husband cooked competition BBQ for years. We have eaten lots of BBQ and let me tell you- you want to eat here!!!!!! Drive to Bolivar and get your fix- you won't regret it!
