I should preface this by saying I am NOT a Bar-B-Que Expert. That said, everything we ate was fantastic... the ribs, the beans, the fries... just delicious and fresh and reasonably priced. For me, a bit grab and go though. The ambience seems to have been affected by (perhaps) covid and eating out of styrofoam on site is a little meh. 5 for food - one star deducted for the rest of the experience.

Visiting from Texas, NEELY's was fantastic! Friendly staff and family vibes, the food was full of love. The beef ribs were so different from anything I've ever had and easily the most interesting. The bark was chewy and smokey while the meat was perfectly tender. The BBQ Spaghetti on the other hand was actually insane. Never came across something like it, but it just works so well! Absolute must try if you've never had it before. We also got a slice of the pecano pie (pecans and sweet potato) and it was wonderful. Not too sweet, tasted like campfire candied pecans in a sweet potato casserole but with way less sugar. 10/10 would recommend.

Tried the brisket nachos and pork sandwich. Both were very good! The service was great also, very kind and helpful. Must try BBQ spot in Memphis!

This place is a 10/10 for service and food. Get. The. Wings. You're welcome. The seasoned fries are also great.

The service is great, greeted with a cheerful hello & smile! This plaza location is family dine-in friendly! The environment appears well-kept and is locally family owned. Don't be surprised if you see one of the owners! The rib tips dinner (bbq beans & greens for sides). The meat was tender, a tab bit greasy, not overly salty but had a nice subtle smoke flavor. Overall reasonably priced, flavorful, with good sized portions will satisfy your palate!

The Neely's on Germantown Road and Winchester has good BBQ. Never real crowded and I'm sure they catch alot of the lunch crews in the area. Our order was a usual pick for us. The slab beef ribs and the pork rib tip dinner - two sides - baked beans and slaw. Never disappoints. Big bone beef ribs saucy and thick. Tender, juicy pork tips with the meaty/fatty layers. Satisfied and Content. The cashier was pleasant and friendly as well. We'll be back again for our regular BBQ fill

I visited Neely's for lunch after seeing it a few times as I passed by it many times. I was in the mood for BBQ and there isn't much else in the immediate area to choose from. This visit I had high hopes. I arrived to see a party of about 15-18 people getting ready to leave. They were happy and seemed to have really enjoyed themselves. There were a few other tables sat and a decent stream of to-go orders where picked up while I was waiting. I asked my server what she suggested. Without hesitation she uttered the "Rib Tip's"... I am not sure if she really likes them or if she has been instructed to offer that as a suggestion. I still cannot understand why Rib Tips are such a treat to anyone. They are essentially a by-product. Why are they one of the most expensive things of the menu? They sell for one third of the price of Baby Back or Spare Ribs. They are just cheap meat. I decided on a Brisket Sandwich and a side of beans. She asked if I wanted it sliced or chopped (I think brisket should always be sliced) and I ordered sliced without slaw. As I waited for my food to arrive Mr. Neely comes out of the kitchen and goes outside to take a picture with the group that was leaving when I arrived. He comes back in and has friendly banter with his crew about being a good guy and always willing to take a picture with anyone who wanted one. My server begins to clean up the giant tables mess after she places my order. It took about 15-18 minutes to get my food. Now, I am sitting here knowing that they do not cook beef brisket to order. It should have been out in no less than 5-8 minutes considering all that it needed to be done was making it hot and plating my food. She continued to work on slowly cleaning up while I waited. As time went on I got more and more anxious about my wait and my facial expressions say it all when I am bothered. She made eye contact with me and screamed to the kitchen "is my order ready" all while still sweeping. She continued working on the dining room because I don't think anyone answered her. I finally get my food and the Brisket is chopped and not sliced. The bottom bun is completely soaked with sauce and cannot be picked up with my hands. There was sauce in pools around the sandwich and it seems to invade the bun that way. The sauce added to the top of the sandwich had not had a chance to make it all the way down through all of the meat but had poured off as they added it to the top. The meat was actually pretty tasty even though it was chopped. I used my utensils to flip the sandwich over and it gave me a good piece of bread to support the meat while eating it. They sandwich wasn't bad at all. Incorrect, but not bad... The beans on the other hand were terrible. Thick, overly sweet, dark, and congealed are the best words to describe them. I am sure they are better when fresh. As I am eating, my server's children (I assume) show up and while they were cute and Mr. Neely seemed to enjoy their presence they simply created another distraction for my server. I finished and waited, and waited, for my check. I finally stood up and that gets her attention away from cleaning and childcare. I get my check and it's wrong. I was overcharged and my side was listed incorrectly. I went to the front to see Mrs. Neely to pay and let her know about the incorrect check. She screams across the restaurant for my server. She comes over and then leaves to go get the right check. She gets back after a couple of minutes and I am so ready to go at this point. It has been more than 45 minutes since I arrived for a quick lunch. Note: the incorrect check says sliced brisket, and the correct says chopped. I assume the one that went to the kitchen was the one that said "sliced". I give her my money ($20 bill) and she doesn't have anything but ones in her drawer. She again screams across the restaurant, this time to Mr. Neely. She gripes at him about not stocking the drawer with change and hands him a $20 to break for me. As he is walking away, he touches my shoulder, and says "never work with your mother man". Although I think that is good advice, you have already made that mistake, and now you are belittling your own Mother to me, a stranger. I finally get out of there and that is when I notice the Yelp sign. I have been kind of down on myself lately because I can't seem to find any really good experiences. I don't know if I am being overly critical of the places I have been visiting but I had not planned on writing a review this visit because it was just Meh. I am going back to try again unless I am contacted about this review. I don't want any kind of apology or freebie. I always order what I want, never send it back, and review accordingly.

Long time no visit. So for lunch today stopped by and got my favorite! RIB TIP dinner plate...the smokey smell

I ordered wings and two dry slabs of ribs. When my family and I finally decided to eat the ribs on Monday, they were disgusting. They had seasoning caked all on them, and they were overly salty. We wiped off the caked-on seasoning and tried to eat around the saltiness. I was praying the 2nd slab was not the same. When I opened them on 5/27 to see, they were the same. I was trying to avoid calling because I just didn't feel like being bothered. But I called. I left a message for the manager to return my call that morning because "he is in the middle of an interview." So I called back that afternoon and was transferred to Ethan. I explained the situation to him. As I was speaking, he kept making the noise un-huh. So, I stopped talking and asked him what it meant aside from it just being rude as hell. He went on to explain that they missed a step and did not rub in the seasoning and shake it off. I don't care. It's an internal quality issue that should be handled with the prep and cook staff. Not me. He asked if I had my receipt and, in a tone that suggested he was doing me a favor, advised me that he would replace the slab. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything.   After my long workday, I went all the way downtown to get the slab replaced. In person, Ethan is just as rude. I asked if he was going to replace both slabs. He could clearly see the quality was trash. He said no and that he would only replace one. Then went on to offer me sides and a slice of cake. No, thank you. I can afford sides and cake just like I did those trash slabs of ribs. Those slabs of ribs cost $62.40 before taxes. With taxes probably being another 5 or 6 dollars. Your mistakes and poor quality should not cost me. He had a young lady bring the replacement slab back out to me. She didn't say thank you or anything. One thing I know is that a white man or woman patronizing your business would not have been treated this way. As a result, moving forward I will spend my Black woman dollars elsewhere on barbeque and smoked chicken wings. Also, I removed you all from my company's approved catering list where we spend a nice amount with you all yearly. Tell Ethan, thanks for helping me see the light and not spend money where I'm not respected and where my customer experience isn't valued.

My server Georgia was nice and patient with me as I couldn't really decide what to order. I loved the live blues band. They sounded great! It was walking distance to my hotel and was on Beale street where all the restaurant and bars are located. I thought pricing was fair and portions were definitely generous. I ordered Mac n cheese kids meal and a Side of coleslaw and a piece of catfish. I didn't want the full platter as it was a lot of food and cost wise I was attempting to save a bit. Coleslaw was great. Not overly sweet or overly dressed. Mac n cheese was creamy but lacked seasoning. I was underwhelmed. Most disappointing thing was the catfish. Although it was seasoned well. It was crispy on top and greasy and mushy on the bottom. There was also a discrepancy on the price of the catfish filet. I asked ahead of time how much for a singe piece to see if cost wise it would make sense to order things the way I did. She quoted me a price and it was $2 more. Not about the money. But principle. A pet peeve of mine is asking for information and server giving out wrong info rather than double checking. But. Despite food not being great. I would come back and order something different... I loved the energy and vibe.
