Was hoping for the best when no one was inside, and flies were buzzing around. Not the best AC being pushed out the vents either. We of course took the only table that could seat five people comfortably. They had plenty of 4 seater booths and tables. The condiment box at our table looks like it had not been cleaned out in months. Some old time movie decorations definitely caught my eye and those were pretty cool. No music playing, and the touch tunes was down. Just one lonely tv playing cable tv above the bar. Bar had maybe a selection of 3 beers and 4 cocktail/Seltzer cans. I didn't see an ounce of liquor. The men of our party when using the bathroom said the toilet was infested with buzzing flies. The ladies room had an off smell, and we had to fight the nearly empty bottle to get soap to wash our hands. Family of five shared the family feast. The slab of ribs were super tender and fall off the bone but had absolutely no flavor at all besides the baked on bbq slapped on the top. The pulled pork was kind of cold and also had no seasoning or marinade. The chicken wings had some seasoning on top but no flavor inside besides some old fry grease flavoring. We were given a warm bottle of barbecue sauce but the bottle was so nasty and concerning no one at our table was brave enough to use it. Platter had Your average sliced white bread on side. The collard greens were praised by the whole table and was knocked out by everyone first. Service was good, but I would surely hope with being the only patrons inside for a whole hour besides a to go order. Restaurant desperately needs some TLC and some deep cleaning. A great spot on Beale Street if you're looking for good BBQ! My wife and I got the 1/2 rack of ribs and they were awesome! Perfectly cooked, sauced nicely and full of meat. The side of bbq beans was perfect for my meal - my wife got the fries and said they were very good. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive and timely. She kept tabs on us without overdoing it. The prices here are also reasonable considering the location. The amount of food you get is a very good deal! *We also got a side of dry rub wings. While passing through Memphis, I looked for a place to get BBQ for dinner. My husband and I tried here because he was specifically in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich. It was because I couldn't narrow down what I wanted that I got the Sampler! The pulled pork was very tender and delicious, and the chicken thighs had an incredible crunchy coating with well seasoned meat. I was slightly disappointed in the ribs, however, because while the sauce was amazing, the meat was not fall of the bone tender. I did enjoy the collard greens, which had a little bit of spice that complimented the meats well. Service was not super fast, but our food did come out quickly once we ordered. I rarely give these bad reviews, and that's maybe because I rarely get bad service. I usually do a good job at selecting the best places to dine at, but I failed my selection this time. I know there's better bbq in Memphis, but I chose this place based on them being conveniently located close to the FedExForum. The restaurant was half full, and we got a table right away, but it took forever to get our order in. There was only one server, working the entire dining room. But she seemed a little lost at times. She was very nice, and I really felt bad for her. The service I received was definitely not because of her but of management. I've usually added a star here and there because of service, but I will not do such thing for Pig on Beale. They frankly don't deserve anything extra. Because the long wait wasn't the worst part. I'm a very patient and understanding guy, and I'm well aware that we're still in a pandemic, but this is when I expect the owners to assist their employees. Not leave one person to work an entire dining area on her own. My wife ordered their BBQ Nachos. The price on these nachos was $15. By far the worst nachos I have ever seen for the price. Once I saw those nachos, I literally asked my wife if we should just leave or politely decline this plate. We unfortunately did neither, my only regret that day. I decided to order their regular rack of ribs with a side of bbq beans. The beans were not edible. Tasted old and just not good at all. The whole plate was served on a white paper plate with no knife. It's not like their ribs were super tender fall of the bone. They were over cooked and very tough. Lacked any smokiness to them and just very difficult to eat. When we asked for a refill, we were told "absolutely, but it's going be be awhile." There's absolutely nothing worse than going out of town and just getting a very poor dining experience all the way through. We ordered the BBQ sampler, but we were really looking forward to the BBQ pork ribs. The ribs were horrible and appeared to have been prepared last week or, at the best, maybe over the previous weekend. They were very dry and difficult to separate from the bone. And chewy. We became a bit concerned when we noticed the place was not at all crowded and we should have walked away then. With the ribs we also received a piece of what they called brisket. It too was hard, dry and tough and the same thing with the chicken. Texas Toast also accompanied the meal but it was not toasted or even warm. We paid and left our unfinished meal on the table. I was there with my church back in 2013 for a small trip because I'm from Oklahoma City. I was shocked because the waitress tried sitting me and my friends in the back area when we had a Caucasian church member with us and the waitress tried to sit her in the front. our Caucasian member politely said "Oh I'm with them and proceeded to sit with us in the back". The best part of was the bag of Lays Potato chips (one of the eight). Followed by the single 1/4 slice piece of corn on the Cob. The Pig On Beale was recommended to me by a co-worker during a business trip. He says he had some great experiences there but admitted it's been about 4 years since he last came here. I would say this is probably the worst BBQ I've ever had at a restaurant. We arrived a little after 6pm and were the only ones there. We should've taken that as a sign we should've gone somewhere else. We ended up ordering one of the combos that came with ribs, pulled pork and smoked chicken drumsticks and thighs. For the sides we ordered collard greens, potato salad, baked beans and onion rings. The BBQ was so terrible. Everything was tough, dry and bland. We needed to drench it in BBQ sauce just to make the meat edible. Even when it was edible it was hardly enjoyable. The best things we ate there were the onion rings and potato salad. The onion rings were quite good. The potato salad tasted like mediocre potato salad you'd get at the grocery store but it was still miles above most everything else we ate there. Having written that, seriously, find someplace else. The ribs were not cooked properly. (KC Resident reviewing here.) The young lady serving us on a Sunday evening was not attentive. I have to start the review with the disclaimer that their fryers were broken and so we could not order ANY fried food (i.e. French fries, onion rings, chicken strips, cheese sticks, etc). I had a smoked chicken sandwich, minus the bread, with potato salad. Hubby had pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw. Daughter had cheeseburger and corn on the cob. Smoked chicken was dry...it had been deboned but seemed like it was done a long time before my order so I had to soak my chicken in sauce, which was on the spicy side. The potato salad had a mayonnaise base and was honestly, the best part of the meal...chicken was dry and bland. The pulled pork was a good serving size but not much flavor...extra sauce was needed to get it down since hubby had his on a generic hamburger bun. Cole slaw was not good...we do like ours sweeter though, so maybe that's why we didn't care for it. Cheeseburger was of the frozen patty variety and again on the generic hamburger bun (think Walmart's Great Value brand of bun). Corn in the cob was nice and hot, just no seasoning or butter.
