On the first day, I had a burger and fries -- honestly, better than Five Guys. My husband tried the beef and chicken quesadilla, and I sampled some -- even the chips were perfectly seasoned! It was so good that I went back the next day to get the same thing, and it did not disappoint. Truly a hidden gem!

So, I'll keep my review short and say Sugaree's is my favorite bakery in Mississippi. I've lived in three different areas across the state: rural Marshall County (with easy access to Oxford, Como, and Holly Springs), Columbus, and Jackson, so I can say this with confidence considering I have firsthand experience living in and visiting different parts of the state. They are a familiar sight just off of the various highways and offer both a store with various items and a restaurant. The srore is always pretty cool and the restaurant offers your usual southern style menu. I would say that breakfast is the best meal that they serve and my go-to is their chicken fried steak and eggs. This location did offer me a first. If you are familiar with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, the rocking chairs and checker boards in front of the store are a familiar sight. This was the first time that I have ever saw people actually playing checkers at them. Two gentlemen were playing and had quite a few people around them watching the game. So, in New Albany, Mississippi, I got to see this. Overall, the service at the country store was friendly, the ambiance is rustic and today, I just shopped in the store, so I cannot comment on the food. If you are unfamiliar with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, you should check it out. It is a part of the landscape down here in the southeastern part of out country. Hey, here you can even get in a game of checkers.

I had taken a couple bites before realizing that there was no avocado and since I had paid extra for it and left a tip my boyfriend and I went back. When he walked in he wasn't acknowledged even though there was no one else in the shop. My boyfriend had the receipt and explained that we didn't get the avocado. Instead of the worker making a new sandwich or even putting the avocado on the side, he just added the avocado to my already half eaten sandwich and then proceeded to put the spoon back into the avocado. I do not recommend this subway. The workers definitely need a course about cross contamination and to use clean utensils especially if you add something to someone's already eaten sandwich. That is utterly disgusting and ridiculous.
