The current reviews of Sugaree's Bakery not only pass the vibe check, but I was thrilled to learn their cakes are sold at restaurants all over Memphis, the Mississippi Picnic in NYC's Central Park, and shipped all across the country. So, I'll keep my review short and say Sugaree's is my favorite bakery in Mississippi. I've lived in three different areas across the state: rural Marshall County (with easy access to Oxford, Como, and Holly Springs), Columbus, and Jackson, so I can say this with confidence considering I have firsthand experience living in and visiting different parts of the state. On my most recent visit, I stopped by for a slice of caramel cake, and it was another home run! read more

Sugaree's Bakery - a box of sugaree's bakery - Bakeries Near Me - New Albany, Mississippi

The caramel cakes that are made at Sugaree's are absolutely delicious. After ordering one for myself, I ordered one for sister who lives in Florida for her birthday and now it's her birthday again and she wants me to send her another one. And this is what I'm planning to do. read more

Got a sampler consisting of slice of pound cake, slice of strawberry cake, turtle brownie, lemon pie bar, and iced cupcake. All tasted delicious and freshly baked. Will visit again when able. read more

I ordered one of their cakes to be shipped to me in Memphis. Seamless ordering experience - their website clearly states the shipping charges depending on what day you order (they ship Monday-Thursday overnight, so there will be an extra charge if you want it Saturday or Monday). It was about $30 to ship to me. It arrived in dry ice and the cake was perfect upon arrival. I've had their strawberry cake at local delis that partner with Sugaree's. But we really wanted to try their Sampler Cake. It's 8 large slices of each of the cakes that they make: strawberry, caramel, rainbow, coconut, Italian cream, red velvet, chocolate, and pound cake. I loved being able to get a little taste of each flavor. Favorites were strawberry, red velvet (very moist), and the pound cake. read more

Adorable little shop. Although I didn't try them, their cakes look phenomenal. I did try one of their dingdong cupcakes and that thing was so good I sat in my truck and woofed it down like a five-year-old. As a matter of fact, I brought my boyfriend back the next day and got another one plus tried the coconut, strawberry and chocolate ones. So so so good. Between the two of us, those babies didn't have a chance! Super moist and absolutely delightful frosting flavors. I will be getting a six pack of those ding dong cupcakes next trip. I think they only have the certain days of the week so will call before I go. Super friendly young lady at the counter. read more

I like the outside delivery. I feel your products are excellent but, heard Westside Barbecue has as good as Southern Cakes & Desserts cheaper. I would appreciate if you could moderately change your prices. Thank you. This is just constructive criticism. read more

Some of the BEST cakes and pies I've ever had. Delicious! Some products sell out, but worth the wait.

Always quick and pleasant customer service. The ladies genuinely seem to enjoy their job and helping customers. We bought all of the cakes served on our dessert table for our wedding at Sugaree's. Also, follow them on FB or IG for Free Cake Friday. You might just win! read more

Sugaree's Bakery - All of the cakes are from Sugaree's. - Bakeries Near Me - New Albany, Mississippi

In search of the country's best red velvet cake, I drove 4 hours from Nashville to Sugaree's. I bought a slice of red velvet and a slice of caramel, as well as a pecan tassie. The red velvet was good but not great. It was moist but could have been moister. It was overwhelming sweet, with a far-too-subtle red velvet buttermilk tang. read more

So I actually haven't been to their location in Mississippi, but I had the chance to try their cake at the 13th Annual Big Apple BBQ Block Party in NYC last weekend. Strawberry Cake is my favorite cake, and all but impossible to find in most places in the country, except for a few spots in the South and Texas. So when I came across their booth serving strawberry cake, I had to have it, and it was ridiculously good. Fresh strawberries in the cake batter and frosting and wasn't dry at all, nor was it too sweet - was basically perfect. I'm considering ordering a cake online for delivery, even at a hefty price of $55 + overnight shipping in dry ice, it's that good. Who knows, maybe I'll just wait for a special occasion, but I'm definitely doing it one day. If you ever have the chance to try it, please do so, it'll make you very happy! read more

Sugaree's Bakery - Amazing Strawberry Cake at the Big Apple BBQ Block Party. So glad I got it and will be ordering it one day! - Bakeries Near Me - New Albany, Mississippi

The best cakes, pies, desserts. My favorite is their chocolate pie on Fridays and full moons only. You can't go wrong with anything here!

Sugared's is the best! Love all of their sweets! You can't go wrong with anything they make!

A wonderful experience ordering and picking up curbside. The staff was beyond friendly, the items were ready in a timely manner. Delicious too. Proper hygiene in place and a pleasure to do business with. read more

Ordered red velvet wanting to taste the southern traditional vibe. Just average in every way. Should bake from scratch at home next time. Not worth the stop. read more

Never got anything from here that wasn't excellent. Always enjoy getting cakes for different occasions.

My daughter had a cake shipped to Indiana and could not have been more surprised at how delicious and fun this cake was. Each layer of the rainbow was a different flavor. The cake layers were so moist- the frosting was perfect. It was shipped frozen- we left it on the counter overnight to thaw- that simple. I would definitely order from here- and visit when I check off Mississippi! read more

The BEST ding dong cupcakes. I only wish they were available every day of the week. I'm also glad the store is open for walk-ins again.

Wonderful cakes a pastries. They're sold in supermarkets around this area and have a great reputation for high quality cakes.

The coconut cake is the best I've ever tasted. Moist, unbelievable icing, perfection. We got lucky and dropped in the bakery when they had some cakes on sale. Ask if they have any available when you drop in. Everything else looked great. Thank goodness I don't live nearby or I would be big as a barrel. read more

While showing off New Albany's cute little downtown area to a friend visiting from out of town, we decided to stop in Sugaree's to see if we could satisfy our sweet teeth. We ended up buying five different pieces of cake and laughing about the Grateful Dead-inspired cookies. Did not expect to see those in rural Mississippi, but there are Dead Heads everywhere! My friend offered to pay for everything and when the cashier rung her up, she thought the cashier had made a mistake. No mistake, 5 pieces of cake for pretty cheap! We added on two slices of cheesecake just to even everything out... I also love that they carry other local goods like Neon Pig's raw smash burgers, or fancy cheeses. Plus they make their own jam! read more

My boyfriend had the rainbow cake sent to me for a special occasion. I was so surprised how good it was. It was a beautiful cake and each layer tasted like a different flavor. The cake was also shipped from MS to IN and all it had to be was defrosted overnight on the counter. Would definitely order again! read more

Thank you ladies for the excellent experience, and the free cookie! read more

I'm a New Albany native, but now I call Memphis home. It cracks me up that no matter what eatery I go to here in the 901, a server always offers Sugaree's cake to me as a delicacy shipped in from a small town in Mississippi. I grew up on Sugaree's red velvet and honestly, I didn't know cake tasted like anything other than the quality you get in their items. Around Memphis, everyone gushes about the strawberry and caramel cakes. If you get a chance, stop in. They usually have free samples on the table in front. You can't miss the giant rainbow cake displayed in the window. read more

Red Velvet Cake - Sugaree's / Goldbelly I was a little disappointed when i unwrapped the cake and saw no icing on the outside - Who in the world does not ice the whole red velvet cake? I'm a Southern Girl. After spending so much money to get this cake $89 looks like it would have been iced all over. The cake was packaged great, and arrived one day later than expected thanks to Fedex. The cake was moist on the inside but a little dry on the outer side, the taste was very good, and overall a good cake. Just wished they would have disclosed the icing on the picture Goldbelly. The icing was why i chose this company I thought it would be the original red velvet icing but was not. Next time I think i will try another company. read more

Best Cake I've Ever Tasted. I was able to buy a strawberry, caramel, and red velvet slice at the Big Apple BBQ. I planned on splitting them all with my Mother but once I had my first bite, I could not be stopped. Strawberry Cake - The cake is an artificial pink but you can taste real strawberries. The cake was the freshest/moistest I've ever had. The frosting was perfect, it wasn't super sweet and the little on the cake was all that was needed. My personal fave. Unfortunately, none for Mom... Caramel Cake - my least favorite of all 3 but still delicious. The caramel frosting is delicious but intensely caramel. The cake was super moist. This was my Mom's fave. Red Velvet - I've had a million slices of red velvet but now I know what it's supposed to taste like. Just like the other two, super moist! I have been dreaming about this cake and am purchasing the sampler cake for Thanksgiving!!!! PLEASE COME BACK TO NY SOON. read more

I have pondered several months over how to write a review on such a fantastic little hot spot in New ALbany, MS, where life is much slower than in the city where I'm from, but here goes: Pound Cake: Delicious, buttery, moist-never dry, and just AH-mazing! Coconut, Caramel, Red Velvet, Chocolate, Rainbow Cake: Simply put--the BEST cake you have ever placed on your palette! The frosting is homemade and perfect. The cake--even though you buy it frozen, once thawed--it is the moistest cake you have ever eaten! Tarts: Melt in your mouth-Strawberry or Blackberry--I'll take 2 of each! Pecan Tassies: My 3rd favorite item in the shop. These are like little pecan pie bites, but the crust is what makes these little guys my #3 thing to buy when I am in town. It's like a shortbread cookie--buttery, and sooooo divine. Cheesecakes: Different flavors. Creamy, Creamy, Creamy! They sell these individual or in an 8x8 pan for you to take home. These are great for a small social gathering. Chess Pie: This is my FAVORITE item sold in the shop. It's not always available in the single slice, but when I am there and they have it, I buy it. I love chess pie and this recipe is spot on! Buttery, creamy, sugary, and delicious. I don't care for the crust, but it's homemade and many people LOVE it. I just eat all the filling! Wedding cookies: By far-hands down the BEST cookie I've ever eaten. If you can manage to get these little guys home and place them in the freezer overnight and then eat them, you will experience MOUTHGASM like you've never experienced it before! This is the #2 item to buy for me & #1 of there is no individual chess pie to buy. Sugarees has many more items within their small shop, located right in the heart of the square. Everything I have sampled, either purchased or the free samples they offered throughout the day, have all been homemade, using the finest ingredients and simply delicious. The service in-shop is Southern Charm and the ladies do a great job at suggesting something for you if you don't know what to buy if you are planning a social. They also have a discounted freezer with items that didn't make the cut to get out to sell at full price, but don't let the word "discount" fool you! Inside that freezer lies discounted items that taste almost exactly the same as the originals! If you are ever in the area, I would encourage you to stop in this little bakery. Meet their lovely staff, make a new friend, and carry home some of the best sweets your money can buy! read more

Holy crap!!! So good! Peach cobbler and turtle cheese cake are amazing! I though it was going to be overly sweet but it was perfect.

Awesome caramel cake! Great Customer Service. I ordered 2 cakes and when they arrived one of them was not what I ordered. I emailed Sugaree's to let them know about the mishap and they replied most promptly and sent the cake I did order without even being asked. Everyone makes mistakes and little mess ups happen from time to time, it's how you handle those mess ups that make you who you are. And Sugaree's is tops in my book for taking care of me and my order. I will absolutely order from them for any special occasion because it is SO worth it. Anything you order from Sugaree's will be yummy and delish! read more

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Sugaree's is the BUSINESS when it comes to the Cakes! placed my order thru Goldbely for their variety cakes. I was impressed how they were packed on dry ice and individually wrapped so they would not run/mix together if thawed let me tell you I don't like coconut but that Coconut cake had me Shookth!!!! the Red Velvet was moist and just sinful and last but not lease the Strawberry was Divine. The Pound cake and the chocolate cake was good too but the three mentioned above were OUTSTANDING!!! I will be reordering as gifts in the future. The other cakes that came in the collection were not bad, but they just did not make a strong impression on me as the honorable mentioned above. read more

Sugaree's Bakery is special for many reasons! First of all, the layer cakes and sheet cakes are delicious!! The chocolate, caramel, and strawberry cakes are my personal faves! Second, they have a great variety of other goodies too--cookies, tarts, pies, etc. Definitely give Sugarees a try! You won't regret it! read more

Caramel cake was the favorite cake of my significant other's father, who passed away a few years ago. I wanted to find a way to honor his father's memory and learned about Sugaree's caramel cake after some research. The reviews of this bakery, and their caramel cake, in particular, were amazing. So, I ordered one to be delivered for the family's first celebration of his birthday, since his passing. I heard nothing but praise from the family about this cake!!! My significant other said this caramel cake would have been his father's favorite, hands down! So...this has become the family tradition to enjoy a Sugaree's caramel cake for his birthday ever since. I must add that all of their cakes receive fantastic reviews and I am planning to order each and every flavor at some point! For Mother's Day this year, I have ordered the Strawberry Cake....I keep checking the shipment tracking because I CANNOT WAIT for it to arrive!!!! Be aware that someone needs to accept the shipment (if you order their cakes online). And you must allow about an hour or two for your cake to thaw before you can enjoy it!!!They are baked fresh, then frozen, and packed with dry ice for shipment. There has never been a problem with the look, taste, or quality of the cakes that I have ordered. And I have ordered quite a few now. And yes, the cakes remain moist and wonderful for as long as it lasts (however, I know that most of the cakes I have ordered were consumed within 24 hours). I would recommend trying Sugaree's...you'll see why their ratings are so awesome! I hope to one day visit their bakery (I am certain I will never want to leave). Until then, I will continue to have their cakes delivered and enjoy their deliciousness in Texas, and ship their treats to friends and family around the country to SHARE THE JOY!!! read more
