My guest and I ordered a flight of donuts so we could try a variety of flavors, and overall, we really enjoyed the experience. The donuts were all a good size, fresh, and very tasty. It's a great way to sample multiple options, especially if it's your first time visiting. That said, I was a little surprised there weren't more alcohol-inspired donut flavors. With a name like "Donut Distillery," I expected to see more options along the lines of whiskey glazes or other boozy elements worked into the menu. I'd love to see them lean further into that concept--maybe experimenting with alcohol-infused fillings, doughs, or glazes to really make the theme stand out. I also think it would be fun if they offered a paired tasting experience, like a flight of donuts matched with their donut shots. That kind of setup would give first-time visitors a better sense of the menu and make the experience feel even more interactive. Overall, The Donut Distillery is a creative and enjoyable stop. Even with a few missed opportunities, it's still a great place to visit if you're in Oxford and want something sweet and a little different.

I did kind of get the vibe we were annoying the staff by walking into the place, they weren't nasty but not welcoming either. I am a vegetarian and GF is intermittently a vegetarian so we both skipped out on the fried chicken. I really wanted to try the blueberry donuts which met expectations. They were fantastic. I looked at them right outta the bag and they were steaming. We got a couple sides as a "snack". The mashed potatoes were EXCELLENT. I also enjoyed the mac and cheese. Worth a stop for sure.

We love red velvet donuts, and we tried all three varieties that they had. The one with cream cheese on top was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the frosted donut holes, both the strawberry and chocolate, as well as their lemon glazed doughnut. It was cute that they threw in a few donut holes to fill the boxes where they could. The chocolate muffin, apple fritter, and cinnamon roll (butter roll) were quite good as well. The kolaches were delicious. We loved that they had a sweet Hawaiian bread wrapping the sausages. This place was a crowd pleaser from the adults to the kids. On the last day we were there, the staff said "see you tomorrow" and unfortunately, we had to say that we were leaving town. But, we'll definitely be back when we visit Memphis again.

I stopped by Midtown Donuts in Memphis because the donuts in the display looked delicious, and I…read morewas excited to finally give the place a try. When I walked in, the store appeared clean for the most part, and everything looked fresh. I ordered a kolache first and then decided to get a red velvet donut because it looked so good. However, before the employee could put the donut in the bag, I noticed a large horsefly flying around inside the display case, landing and flying around the donuts. I was instantly disgusted and reacted immediately. The employee seemed to acknowledge it, but her reaction felt more performative than genuinely concerned. It didn't seem to faze her, even as another customer who had already ordered coffee was also watching what was happening. I understand that bakeries and donut shops with open display cases can occasionally have issues with insects, and I'm not saying people shouldn't visit this business. Everyone can make their own decision. But personally, once I saw a horsefly flying around food that was about to be served to me, I couldn't bring myself to knowingly eat it. What surprised me even more was that after seeing my reaction, the employee still asked if I wanted the kolache. At that point, I had completely lost my appetite and simply walked out. I was genuinely looking forward to trying Midtown Donuts, and it's disappointing that my first experience ended this way. Unfortunately, because of what I witnessed, I won't be returning.
