My mother and I visited Elfo Grisanti's and I was absolutely blown away! The staff was exceptional; very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We felt so welcomed. The ambiance was so relaxing and intimate without feeling uncomfortably stuffy. The food was outstanding!!! The crab cakes were stock full of real crab, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the desserts were succulent. We will absolutely be back! No pics on this one, as we were dining with company. So this is a quick one: The service is excellent. Stuck between two dishes? Ask your server- our server laid out distinctions, deviations from what that dish would be most other places, which is the better value, etc. Attentive, knowledgeable, timely, courteous. A couple of notes about dishes: the meat sauce is some of the best in the area. None too sweet, hearty, noticeable meatiness, the right pinch of garlic. The veal saltimboca was stupid good. Buttery, rich, tender. I have a new found distain for carbs - by choice - so the pasta wasn't going to work; our server recommended swapping it with the Italian spinach. BAM! The spinach sopped up the flavor and added a hearty, cheesy sub layer to the bite. Damn good, and an unexpectedly pleasant sub on the fly. The barramundi was a bit dry, but my better half gave the chef's kiss to the crab risotto. The chicken parm also had high marks from the table. Highly recommended- we'll definitely make the 30 minute trek from Gtown again. As a side note, of all the Grisantii places, my take is that this location has the most expansive and highest-end menu (in accord with the interior, which was a refined uptick from what I was expecting when we walked up). If you're in the market for an Italian veal dish, this is a prime spot for finding your quarry. read more

Italian food is something I don't go out for often, and this place is my one and only go-to in DeSoto County if I'm craving Italian food. The toasted ravioli is homemade and makes for a perfect appetizer. The lasagna, spaghetti and chicken marsala are delicious as well, but can we just talk about the chicken picatta for a sec? Oh em gee! It's like no other! Instead of bitter capers, it's made with artichokes and tomatoes and it's phenomenal! The sauce is light and the dish doesn't sit heavy. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! If you happen to catch the food truck out selling pizzas, those are great as well. The restaurant has a charming family feel to it, and the live music is a plus on certain nights. Our waitress took fantastic care to make sure we were happy with our food and refilled our tea when needed. There was a musician singing and he played over four instruments He even went to a table and played Happy Birthday to a customer in his trumpet! I didn't have a good experience here. Nothing about this place could make me want to return. I made a reservation for 8 people for 7-16-21. It was one of my children's birthdays and she loves Italian food. So every year we eat Italian on her birthday. Arriving and being seated was the best part of my visit. We were greeted immediately and sat at that moment. I chose this place because of the family lineage tied to it. I enjoyed many of this families places over the years, and Elfo's in Germantown was really pretty good. I figured it was a safe bet and we could all get a good meal. Wrong.... I'll admit, the Calamari and Ravioli apps were pretty good, hence the two stars. I'd say everything else left much to be desired. They completely forgot two of my kids food. 6/8 meals delivered 10 mins plus before the straggling dishes arrived. That's awkward when celebrating together. Do you eat? Do you let yours get cold? Our server constantly disappeared for really long periods of time. This got worse when the food didn't arrive together. Another server even brought the missed dishes out as she was nowhere to be seen at all. My Manicotti arrived burned to the point of not being able to even eat it properly. The pasta was so hard it wouldn't even cut with a knife. All of the filling just squeezed out of the ends. I just ate the filling and some sauce. $24 for two pathetic tubes of inedible pasta and I ate leftovers when I got home so I wasn't hungry when I went to bed. Three of us had the Manicotti and mine was the worst by the looks of it. One of my kids actually looked ok, the other looked like mine. My wife had the combo with Elfo pasta and Manicotti. She didn't mention how she liked it but more than half went back to the kitchen. I tried the shrimp and they were actually good. I had grown perturbed by the straggling dishes and the ever absent server so dinner conversation was limited to anything but the food at this point. I can't tell you if anyone else enjoyed it or not. They aren't writing this review though, I do know that. Why didn't I mention my discontent with our food and service in person you ask??? Server is MIA AGAIN! Female manager (oddly carrying a purse around the dining room) is sitting at the bar on the way out so there was no chance of talking to her. As we finish and sit there with dirty plates in front of us another server shows up with a oddly named dinner salad. Are you blind?? Did you not see the empty plates on the table? Why would we want a dinner salad? I'll add she had the section next to us and we had been there for more than an hour and a half at this point. It was kind of comedic relief in a way. We wait and wait to order dessert and finally she shows back up. My wife has prebussed our table and had a pile of plates in front of her at this point. Desserts consumed, I didn't partake.... Fully annoyed I'm ready to go.... Bill arrived with $16 discount. I guess this is for forgetting two of our eight meals. $300 with tip after my gracious $16 discount.... Nope. Not again. read more

This place is very good. The menu isn't huge but what they make they make very well! Pizzas are very good. Wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Even when it's very busy (as it was on Thursday night when we were there) they are able to 1) find a way to put two tables together so a party of 6 can be seated with minimal wait and 2) there was not a long wait at all for service or for our orders to be made and brought out. There was live music in house this evening which I'm gonna be honest here I'm not a huge fan of in any restaurant at all but that's a me issue. I really like all the family photos on the walls - even in the bathroom! Some poor Grisanti kid or kids are now known for having their first communion photo on the wall of the bathroom. read more

We started off with the toasted raviolis (3 cheese & 3 meat). They were very large. Needed a tiny bit of salt but overall were really good. Garlic bread is a MUST, it was amazing in the meat gravy (sauce that came with the raviolis) We got casseruola and let me tell you. It was cheesy, it was creamy, it was bacony. 9/10 to me. Only thing that coulda make it better was little more chicken but I won't complain about that. It was great. We also got chicken Marsala and that was not as great. It wasn't bad at all but it lacked the creamy flavor you're supposed to get from the Marsala. Sauce was a little bland but overall not bad. We didn't eat as much of this one and ended up splitting the casseruola. 5/10 on the marsala. Lastly we finished with mocha cake and it was decent. Essentially was just a small brownie in a small cup with one scoop of ice cream on it. Wasn't overly sweet but if you're looking for sweet treat I'd prolly get it again. Now the best part. Stephanie was our waitress and she was constantly checking on us making sure we got what we ordered and refilling our drinks (the glasses are small so we had her running). Overall ambiance wasn't bad. It's a nicer place and we weren't expecting it to be that nice. Definitely weren't dressed for the occasion. read more

First time to dine at this location. At first we were impressed by the waitress who seemed to know the menu inside and out. Out of the 4 of us, 2 received the wrong food and had to be sent back. One was the beef ravioli which came out ad cheese. Very apologetic, said she grabbed the wrong plate. Correct food was out pretty quickly. Then i had asked which was better the manicotti or the eggplant. She said the manicotti so that is what i ordered but received the eggplant. When i pointed it out, at first she seemed reluctant then said i was correct. I asked if it would be long, if so i would keep the eggplant. She said oh no more than 5 minutes. Well, everyone was done eating by the time i received my food. With that said all food was delicious. She then said since there was such confusion and delay i would receive the "friends and family" discount. When we received the bill., my husband laughed as they had taken $2.60 off the bill. Seriously, they need the money more than us. Very disappointed as the bill was over $100 which if everything was served correctly it would have been worth it. We felt the dinner item should have been at least half off if not comp considering the time it took to come back out. read more

If I could give a score lower than Zero I would. Absolutely worst food I have ever eaten. We ordered two meat balls and the margarita pizza as an appetizer. The thin crust was like card board, with CHUNKS of tomato's an enormous amount of cheese covered in an ungodly amount of oregano. I ordered the veal Marsala which had zero taste, the same chunks of tomato which does not go Marsala anything. Please don't experiment with Italian food and fail. It was sprinkled with green onions. My wife ordered the eggplant parm which had no taste and again chunks of unflavored and unseasoned tomatoes! The eggplants were cut to hockey puck pieces and had no flavor. We ordered desert the key lime pie which was frozen solid!!!!! Terrible. the orange cheese cake which was the only edible food for the entire meal. I ordered a 5 dollar espresso, which I ca. only describe as brown water. Served with no lemon, sugar or spoon. It is over priced for garbage food, which is upsetting since we were hoping to find some good Italian food. Please go back to culinary school or visit Italy and take notes of the food. The food came out fast and that seemed to be the issue with the Chicken Parmigiana. It was raw inside! The manager apologized and made it right but that was a major problem. My sister was in town and our mom was going through a really tough moment, so right around the corner was Elfo Grisanti, we walked in without reservations and had the best Italian food and spirits, we could have hoped for. Then again this past December to celebrate a birthday, we made reservations, ate, drank, laughed and were served with kindness, smiles and never did our glasses go empty nor did the chef or service disappoint. It truly was a happy occasion and the candle added to the birthday dessert was perfect! It is a beautiful restaurant with beautiful artwork and music. Service was just fine. Ordered the lasagna. Was VERY disappointed that the edges of the lasagna were very warm, but the middle of the dish was cold. I also ordered the garlic bread (bread is not included). The garlic powder was sprinkled on top. NOT cooked throughout the bread. Not on the bottom layer of bread. This place was AMAZING! The staff was all smiles and friendly. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere is romantic. Food came out fairly fast after ordering. We ordered toasted raviolis to start and they were a lot bigger than expected. Portion sizes at this place is definitely not small. Following was our wedge salad that we split, delicious. Again a half size is pictured and that is plenty enough for one person before a meal. I ordered the halibut. It was absolutely delicious. The blue cheese crust really made and complimented the fish. The green beans underneath were perfectly cooked. My husband ordered a veal - can't remember which one and it was very well cooked, tender, and delicious. For desert, I ordered the cannolis since I've never had them before- not exactly my cup of tea per say but they were good! I don't have anything to compare them to. My husband ordered the chocolate cheesecake that was 10/10. (How many times can I say delicious in one review ) I highly recommend this place for a date night! read more

Always good. I got the Dela Casa again and was not disappointed. Wish I had remembered to ask for the tails to be removed from the shrimp. I hate having to go wash my hands after removing shrimp tails from a dish. I don't know why they leave them on. Just saying. But. The Elfo was yummy. Hubby, daughter and granddaughter enjoyed their ravioli. I took home the manicotti for another meal. Service was great. All in all a positive and delicious experience. Note to chef: please consider removal of shrimp tails before serving the Elfo. There is no need to leave them on except for the presentation. Maybe the server could offer to remove them. This was my second time here. First time, we were hungry when we left. This time, the spaghetti was tasteless and the ravioli was not fully cooked. The bread was cut into tiny pieces. The Miss Mary salad was decent. We have been to the Grisanti's on Poplar and in Collierville. Those are great. Absolutely incredible! We've been meaning to go here for months after hearing about it from our son, and I'm so glad we finally did and can't wait to go again!! I ordered the gorgonzola stuffed fillet encrusted in garlic and wrapped in bacon with the Italian spinach and it was honestly off the charts amaze balls. Probably the best steak dish I've ever had.
