The Pros: --Friendliness of the Hostess --Waitstaff Service (timely and personable) --The ambiance of the patio overlooking the square --The Brie pizza (big thanks to the recommendations here) The Cons: --TN Mosquitos (post-7pm they made their appearance) --Chicken Parm (pasta was dry, chicken was soggy) The Indifferent: --Lasagna (hubby said mine is better and I am by no means a chef!) --Cheese bread appetizer Overall, we enjoyed ourselves but much of that had to do with service and ambiance, not the food. As an international traveling food critic and unbeknownst to the staff, the following is what I experienced: - Staff were NOT welcoming nor personable. - Hostess/Water Girl/Bus Girl was under-aged and couldn't take alcoholic beverage drink orders, adding more workload the waitress. - Food quality has dropped significantly since my previous experience over three years ago. The ownership must have changed. - Service was disjointed with terrible timing. - UNCOMFORTABLE & UNSAFE Atmosphere; there was a table of apparently regular customers that were either related to or be-friended the waitress, which got verbally abusive towards another party after they attempted (unsuccessfully) to have their bill corrected for an overcharge by the waitress. What's even more of a shame is, those regulars chose to be intimidating at that time, clearly were not raised with the basic behaviors of ethical principles nor integrity. - Server (Sandra) was the one and only waitress or waiter working that evening. She provided the worst experienced I've had in an extremely long time. - Owner nor any Manager were NOT present to oversee operations or handle situations that arise throughout the dinner period. It's absolutely shameful for any true leader to under-staff an establishment and then not be there to provide backup! This new owner has cut back so severely on staffing and food quality just to improve their bottom line. - This is clearly NOT an authentic Italian restaurant as it was before! This used to be a go to place. Nice food. Nice atmosphere. No more. I was hopeful after the renovation that it would be improved. But, if it doesn't come in a bottle, don't order it. There are clear signs of bad management & poor quality here. Pimento Cheese appetizer was straight from the fridge. The club soda was flat. The pizza was COLD! Worst part, the waitress didn't seem concerned that we were leaving almost an entire pizza. She didn't bother to ask if we wanted a box to take it home. Is suspected that she knew the answer would be "No." After sharing this experience with friends, they reported similar experiences. If it's this bad in the dining room, I hate to think of what it's like back in the kitchen. It is now on my "avoid at all costs" list. read more

I ended up here with a large group and it hasn't changed much but I do believe it's been sold to new owners. I got the chicken fettucine alfredo and it was decent but not really memorable. I took home the meatball pizza and it was pretty good but still not so good that I have to come back. This place is just ok. Took my mom here for her birthday dinner and was so disappointed with both the service and food. Had a 6pm reservation and arrived about 5 minutes early to a nearly empty restaurant. Stood at the empty host stand for a few minutes with an employee setting a table right there in the front room, very clearly saw us and made eye contact but said nothing. Did not even acknowledge our presence until he was done doing what he was doing. Not sure of our servers name as she never told us. Only after we ordered our appetizer she then told us about the appetizer special for the night and never mentioned any other specials or additions to the menu. When she came to take our dinner order I had to ask if they had soup, and yes, they did. If there are options to order that are not on the menu this should be told to the table when sat or prior to ordering. I also saw something that looked like flights of pasta go by but again, we were never told of any options like that. I ordered the wedge salad (which tasted like eating wet lettuce, dressing had absolutely zero flavor) and a cup of soup, my mom had the crawfish pasta. Really the only thing that had to be cooked for our order was her pasta. After about 20-25 minutes of waiting for our food the server came back and said "I just want to double check what your order was to make sure the kitchen got it right". I looked at her waiting for her to read our order back to confirm, however she wanted us to repeat our order to her making me think she had no idea what we ordered. We repeated our order and she went to the back, returned a few minutes later to tell us our food would be out in 2-3 minutes. After a little bit longer than that our food finally arrived. My mom said her pasta was good. Server never returned to ask how our food was, didn't ask about my nearly full salad plate when she took the plate away. Had planned on getting a birthday dessert for my mom but decided against it based on the service we were getting, or not getting. Waited forever for a to go box and our check. I didn't say anything while there because this was my mom's birthday dinner and she was excited to eat here but to say I was disappointed is an understatement. read more

The margarita was the best I have ever had. My companion had the toasted ravioli which she said was very good. Service was excellent, friendly and timely. We sat on the outdoor patio. Cute place. I assumed I was going in for authentic-ish Italian. Ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The Alfredo 100% tasted of store bought jar sauce which I loathe. We had our ladies staff Christmas party at Cafe Piazza. Our fabulous server was Carlos. He made our event fun and enjoyable! The food was excellent and the portions were large. The ambience was lovely and the room was beautiful. We will definitely be going back again next year for our party! Have always loved this place but I fear it has changed under this new management. My favorite menu item was the vegetable herb pizza when it was made with Boursin cheese. That has been replaced now with an Alfredo sauce and it is just not the same. May try again, but find something different. Will read reviews first before going back. Most things were cold and surprisingly uniform, like the raviolis, bread sticks, and rock-hard, perfectly-round pizza. There is so much potential for this menu to be successful, however heart and soul is definitely lacking. Our waiter was fantastic. Created several bloody Mary's for our table that were so good we all ended up drinking 2 !! The children shared an order of pancakes which was more than enough for 3 of them to share. My hubby snatched the last steak and eggs (running out of steak on a Sunday brunch at 11 am?) and I ordered the seafood crepes which sounded delicious but ended up just being meh. The lady that greeted us was terrible. I'm not sure if I've ever felt that unwanted in a restaurant before. I am used to waiting at restaurants even when everyone else that comes in gets seated. My family consists of me, my wife, and four daughters. We usually have at least one friend or a boyfriend with us when we all go out. For some reason, we are more often than not, given higher than actual wait times in what I can only assume is an effort to make us leave. It's almost become a game of "how long are you really going to make us wait compared to what you quoted" for us when we go out. This night we had a birthday girl and she brought along 3 friends ages 13-14. We walked into the restaurant just before 18:00 and were greeted with a look of horror from who I assume was the manager, but could have been the owner. She was an older lady that looked at us and said "we don't have anything available for a party of your size for at least an hour". Looking around, it is not even 10 percent full in this place. My wife glances at me, looks at her, and says, "ok, we will wait". This lady was so convinced that we would leave that she didn't even listen to my wife. She immediately responds with, "I'm so sorry, have a good night" and then realizes Charity told her we would wait. Awkward! It was the most uncomfortable 8 minute wait I've ever endured. That's right, we were seated in less than 10 minutes. She miraculously found a place for us to sit in her damn near empty restaurant. Very Impressive! Server arrives and things get much nicer and way more comfortable. She was nice and very efficient. She handled our party with ease and did an outstanding job. She is a solid asset to this place. Unfortunately, it was only decent food. Nothing stood out as even seeming like a homemade quality ingredient in any of our food. It was all just "ok" really and all seemed canned or boxed. Pizzas are thin like Pyros but twice as expensive with limited sparse toppings. The lasagna was fair at best. The crab ravioli was terrible, just awful. My wife ate two or three bites of her Panini and left the rest. Spinach Artichoke dip was the best thing we had all night. We won't be bothering them ever again with my scary teenage girls! You can count on that! There are much better places to drop a couple hundred dollars on dinner. read more
