Good food and good service. The pork chop and fried green tomatoes are pretty good. The food here overall is a bit overpriced for lunch. Nothing really stands out, and mostly the food is just good. Really nice people though. read more

This is a nice little meat-n-three. Be prepared to park 'round back and wait for a table. The food is good and selections rotate every day. Haven't made it to dessert yet but it sure looks good. Once your order is taken, food comes out to your table quickly. Service is friendly, but because of the large volume of customers they don't always have enough time to spend with each table. If recommend giving this place a try! read more

A nice little southern restaurant. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Daily specials for $9 includes 2 sides and drink. Food was great. I had meatloaf. read more

Sweetpea's - Menu - Southern Near Me - Bartlett, Tennessee

First of all the waitress had no idea what she was going and didn't know the menu. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. The fried chicken is actually chicken tenders. The menu says is comes with two sides but I later found out that it was a misprint on the menu and there were no sides with that item. My wife order a hamburger and it was good. My daughter ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich but ended up with the chicken fried steak meal. The service is slooooooooooow and incompetent. The food is marginal at best. This was a one time stop read more

Sweetpea's - Fried chicken and waffles. Well chicken tender - Southern Near Me - Bartlett, Tennessee

I had the Country Fried Steak and it was Awful. Prebreaded frozen beef cutlet. Most everything I have had there tastes like it came out of a can, mix or frozen. Look at the picture of the CFS and you can see how thin the meat is. I did have good service and my food came out quickly. That is where the 2 stars come from. Still looking for a decent Chicken fried steak in Memphis. read more

Wonderful food. Definitely soul food and comfort food. Potatoes were super creamy and country steak was great. I'll come back for sure when I'm in Memphis read more

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This food is just as good as your Grandma's! The country fried steak is cooked perfectly, and isn't greasy at all. You can tell the food is cooked with love and by hand. There are just some flavors you just can't get from premade foods. I'm so happy Sweetpea's has opened up in Bartlett!! read more

I don't know how anyone can give this place less than 5 stars! It is true hidden gem! I have lived here for 3 years and drove past this place always saying I need to try that place! Well this week I decided to stop for lunch and OMG was it good! I had the Salmon pattie lunch special and you can tell they were from scratch! They were cooked very well! Had the fried okra and Mac n cheese and they did not disappoint! The best part of the meal though was the Carrot cake! It was the best carrot cake I've ever eaten! All the food was made from scratch!!! It was so good I came back the next day and brought the family with me! Yet again the food was amazing! Fried livers cooked perfectly, sweet potato casserole and creamed corn oh my gosh!!! Plus we shared a slice of German chocolate pie ! I'm moving to FL in a month and I am so mad I didn't stop here sooner! The portions were more than enough and the dessert Amazing! The service was great as well both days different servers, both very sweet and fast! read more

This is like stepping back in time. Southern cooking in a diner. Decent portions of good food. A nice selection of grab and go meals to cook at home. The carrot cake was great - moist with nuts and great icing. read more

Best Southern food in Memphis that I've tasted so far! The fried fish could be better but everything else I love!

Catfish that the person I had lunch with was wonderful, the country fried steak i had was not. Decent southern cooking but stay clear of the flat grey mystery that is the country fried steak. Reminded me of what I'd get from frozen meal. Side salads we're good, fresh. Fried sweet potato was fried nicely, Mac n cheese was a little bland but I kicked it up was some salad and hot sauce. Service and everything else was good and I'll be back for the catfish. read more

2 stars, although it maybe could be 3 with some work... You are greetly warmly by a sweet lady who shows you to your table and tells you the specials. She was the highlight of the meal. Our waitress came and efficiently took our drink orders and once those were delivered, she got our meal orders. The wait for food is a little on the long side for lunch, but it is home cooking, so I tried to overlook it, then the meals were delivered. I ordered the 4 vegetable plate and these were the tiniest servings of vegetables I've ever seen. They basically come in those little bowls you see chefs on cooking shows use to separate their ingredients. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant and the gravy was cold and gloppy, but but everything else was relatively good, seasoned well- just wish there was more of it. The cornbread was also on the dry side. Several at our table didn't finish their meals because they weren't pleased, but the waitress never asked if there was a problem. 4 tiny vegetable servings, 1 of which wasn't good, and tea was over $10. Yikes. The waitress brings our checks, but we'd seen people taking their checks up front, so we just assumed that's what we were supposed to do. The waitress sees us about to leave, runs up and says rudely, "YOU PAY ME." Oh, well, you never said anything, so we had no idea. I think we were all taken aback at how abrupt she was, which was made worse as she literally ripped everyone's receipts and money out of their hands. I guess she thought we were going to dine and dash. Not the lasting impression you want to leave. read more

The staff worked hard to make sure the meal was great. I did ask for veggies without meat and gave other options if they did have meat. Half way through my meal I found meat in one of my veggies. I'm glad I not allergic! Overall the food is good and service is pretty quick. You can tell they try their best to do a great job! read more

The Sweet Potato casserole is some of the best I've ever had and I've had some excellent SPC! My son got the chicken tenders and they were perfectly fried yet super juicy! They DON'T use Peanut oil which is great because my son has the dreadful Peanut allergy! All of the vegetables I had were great! I will definitely be back soon! We were too full from dinner so we didn't get dessert, but they had great selections! I want to try the Butter Pecan cake on my next trip!! read more

We went tonight for dinner. What a disappointment after a wait of over 45 minutes our food finally came. My mashed potatoes were barely warm and we both asked for gravy on the side but it came on top of our food. That was after attempting to give us the wrong food twice. The waitress was really trying. I hope they can get it together. read more

Went to Sweetpea's for lunch on 8/8. I loved it. I was wary at first because of the reviews I had seen about the restaurant. I saw that popular dishes were country fried steak and hushpuppies, so I ordered those two dishes and was not disappointed. The puppies were warm, fresh, and soft! I hate hard, dry crunchy hushpuppies (y'know, the ones that have been sitting under a hot lamp). These puppies were clearly fresh made, stuffed with bell peppers and onions. You get 10 pups for $2, you can't beat it people. The country fried steak was as big as the plate. I got mine covered in white gravy, the kind of thick white gravy that maw maw slathered on biscuits early in the morning. Don't let the other reviewers fool you, this really is a cozy little spot worth stopping at over and over. read more

We decided to give Sweetpea's a try when some friends were in town. They were wanting chicken and waffles along with other southern fare. The food was really good, and I'll eat here again. The employees were all very nice and friendly, too. The only negative was the service. Our server was a teenage girl, who was not on top of things. We had to request refills, plates for appetizers, etc. Members of our group really enjoyed the chicken and waffles, hamburger steak, and fried pickles. read more

We stopped at the Olive Branch location for dinner on a Thursday afternoon around 5:30. We were seated immediately, our waitress was prompt and friendly. We ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer with 2 plates and ranch. We got fried mushrooms. I had to get up and ask for my plates and ranch. Before we were halfway through our appetizer, our meal arrived. I had ordered country fried steak with white gravy on the side, corn bread, lima beans, and sweet potato casserole. What I got was not corn bread. It was a corn bread pancake that was cold as ice. Never heard of that crap before. Lima beans from a can, and a beef cutlet that was mediocre at best. Then....the band started. I don't go to to restaurants at 5:30 to be entertained. I go to eat and enjoy a conversation with who I'm eating with. The band was country music and I hate country music. I couldn't get out of there fast enough and what was left of my meal wasn't worth taking home. I'll never go back and will certainly never recommend. If I could give it negative 5 stars I would. read more

If you're into great service, I wouldn't visit Sweetpea's but if you're into decent tasting food give it a try. I had to ask the hostess for silverware twice...and I had to get my condiments from the hostess. Even though I was seated in the middle of the dining room I think my waitress forgot about me. After I was almost half way through my meal she did ask if I wanted more water. I'll admit I felt neglected. The crowd is more of a senior colonizer crowd, there really isn't a mix of ethnicities. Most of the crowd were regulars and the staff knew them by name. I guess Sweetpea's isn't interested in new customers because the waitress never introduced herself and didn't bother to ask my name either. It was lunch time and they were busy, I guess that's the excuse one could use. I spent $21.43 on a cheeseburger, onion rings and fried green tomatoes. Pricey but the food was pretty decent, could use some seasoning. Maybe a house seasoning on the table with the salt and pepper. Again, if you're a senior colonizer this is the spot for you....otherwise go elsewhere. read more

I wanted to try a new restaurant for my birthday lunch and chose Swetpeas Table.Good Southern comfort food and good customer service. The only downside is that the vegetables are good in pork. read more

After a quick response from the owner and an invitation back, I tried another visit to Sweet Peas. This time I got a whole catfish dinner, fried. The fish was hot, fresh, and cooked well, but the breading wasn't seasoned enough for me. The hush puppies were good. The mac and cheese was almost like cafeteria mac. I didn't like it. My second side was cream corn. It was pretty good. Anyways, I think it deserved an extra star. read more

Stopped in for lunch today with a coworker, turned out to be pretty good. I got a Veggie plate, kinda hard to screw that up but you'd be surprised. The mash potatoes were real, and tasty. I got the fried okra which was suburb as well.. my favorite was the lima beans though, they were extremely good and enough to come back for. Nice country cafe type feel, a super freindly and attentive staff makes for a nice expeirence. read more

Really good food for a great price! Everyone is friendly too... Try the fried catfish. Delish!

Best green fried tomatoes in town! Love most of the food we have had here, but have had a lot of slow/ bad service. Come back because of those fried green tomatoes though- even got my husband hooked on them! read more

The food was ok at best. It had small portions and long wait. It was not my best dinning experience.

I've never eaten here when the food wasn't top notch, and the service perfect. One of my favorite places. Today I had the fried chicken livers with mashed potatoes, gravy and lima beans. In the past, I've had many good entries. One of the best times to go is on Sundays after church. Almost always busy (They are a popular place!), and always good. Reasonably priced as well. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy southern cooking. A hidden gem in Bartlett TN. read more

Oh boy, where do I start. I was starving and decided I'd try someplace different, have a change of pace. I come in, the place looks pretty nice. Fairly comfortable atmosphere. The art for sale on the walls is nice, but distracting to customers being asked to move so people can see the price. Not a huge issue. However, the food is another story. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin with sweet potato fries and turnip greens along with fried mushrooms to start. Here's where the fun begins. I wait about 20 minutes, until the waitress comes by again. She tells me the mushrooms were burnt the first time, so they tossed them and started a new batch. It was then I was informed they hired a new cook. Apparently they have low standards for hiring cooks. Another 20 minutes later I get the mushrooms. Small, bland, just mediocre at best. There were 12, I believe. Big as my thumb. I went through them in just a couple of minutes. About 15 minutes later I finally get the main course. It looks good, until I realize the sweet potato fries were burnt. Dark brown, partially black. I tried one, it was bland, the texture just wrong. All the flavor was cooked out of it. I sent them back and about 15 minutes later got more. Then I try the turnip greens. Barely sweet, mostly bland. Nothing exceptional or awful, mediocre like the mushrooms. Now we get to the steak. I ordered medium rare, keep in mind. Half the steak was cooked fine, the middle was a little pink, then the other half was raw. Purely raw. What's worse is that the meat was brown, clearly frozen then thawed and cooked while still fairly cold. It was chewy too, not tender at all. I'm glad I didn't choke! I send it back and another 15 minutes later I have one of the chefs bring out another steak. No words were said. Not even an apology. First of all, a chef does not bring the food, the waiter or waitress does. A chef's job is to cook the food and cook it properly, a job he is already failing to do properly. I will give this place one positive note: the banana pudding is delicious. It's made by the boss, so I had high hopes and was not let down. Needless to say, if you want mediocre or just plain poor food at a far too expensive price, a somewhat comfortable atmosphere, and decent service, you've found your favorite place. read more

A 1 star because you can't give a negative. Today at opening time.. 1st customer. I placed my order, I was advised it would take 10 mins on the dumplings, i ageed to wait. At 11:27 25 mins later 5 mins before i have to be back from lunch i wad advised " o we're dropping your dumplings now"... SO i would love to give a big thanks to them for making sure i went back to work with nothing to eat!!! since im a manager at a local business in Oakland i have advised any employees if they eat here any time over the allotted lunch period will result in write up due to the fact they were warned about this so called "place of business " i use that term very loosely with them!!! read more

A good choice for Southern cooking. Catfish is usually really good. Last night it was a little crispier than I like, but it was still good. We eat here once a month and we're always full when we leave. read more

This southern cooking restaurant was okay just okay. I drive past it almost every day so one Wednesday I decided to stop in for lunch. The service was slow but the atmosphere had a nice homey feeling. read more

I gave them a second chance. Slow service, burned food, delayed tickets, extra charges that aren't explained, and inattentive wait staff all under their new management adds up to a bad experience in Bartlett. I used to think more of this place, and older reviews are good. This is not my first bad experience under their new management. I would not recommend Sweetpea's to anyone. read more

My wife and I stopped in today for lunch. We ordered the country fried steak with white gravy to split with an additional side. Over all our meal was excellent. Our sides were the mashed potatoes with white gravy, green beans and the sweet potato casserole. We chose the hush puppies as our bread. They were outstanding; light, crispy, and full of flavor. We enjoyed them so much we ordered another side of them. My only complaint was the country fried steak was not fresh and breaded in house. It was a pre-prepared frozen breaded patty that was deep fried. The texture and taste of the steak was ok, but not what I would have expected. I can't understand why they would use a pre-prepared patty for such a popular dish. I went to the restaurant today because I was told that everything was prepared in house. Our service was great and the sweet tea was cold. P.S. I had an opportunity to have some leftovers this past week from SweetPeas. My wife brought home some meat loaf, creamed corn, macaroni and fried pickles. Everything she brought home was delicious. read more
