Eric, the store manager, took the extra time to contact Modern Masters after we spoke and was able to work out a deal for a full refund on the product. This was a communication error on both sides, so I really appreciated the refund as I was only asking for half and received all of my money back. I am changing my review to 5 stars as I have always had great experience with Dunn-Edwards service and products in the past. I don't know the guys name that worked Friday 1/26. But, damn I thought a sloth moved slow. This location is the worst. It shouldn't take 30 min for a single gallon of paint. I LOVE DUNN EDWARDS!! It's always a fight between me and other contractors at who has the best paint, needless to say....I always win, and the Home Owners listen to me. The Dunn-Edwards store on Elliot in Ahwatukee has been very helpful in helping me choose the right paints for my house remodel. All the employees I had contact with were very helpful, one employee in particular, Megan, has been great and very useful in helping me choose paint samples matching the tiles I brought in to the store. I am a programmer, not a painter. When I walk into a paint store, I am an idiot. I do not know what gloss I want, or what tools I need. I only know what colors my designer told me to buy. This is why Dunn-Edwards gets 5-stars from me. They don't treat me like a moron. They help me figure out what I need by asking me what I'm painting, how much, what I already have, showing me options, and helping me figure out what to do. I've been to this store 4 times now, and each time the experience has been the same. Helpful people, a short wait while the paint is mixed, and during that time, they help a hand full of (what appear to be) hard-core professional painters, and husband-and-wife do-it-yourselfers. I come here exclusively now, even when my designer tells me to get a Sherwin Williams color. They just pull out a Sherwin Williams color book, match it up for me, and boom - job's done. read more

I have been a Dunn Edwards fan for over 15 years, initially becoming aware of their products and services as a residential painter and being new to the area. Having moved on, and away, and back to metro Phoenix again, when it was time to paint my own house, the choice was clear to return to Dunn Edwards. My first visit to the Warner Rd. location immediately re-confirmed my loyalty. I was somewhat out of touch with product choices and the like, and that's when Dade Harper stepped into the picture. He was extremely knowledgeable and eager to assist and answer questions, of which I typically have many! Dade too had questions, so he could fully understand the scope of my plans, and offer product choices accordingly. I left with all questions answered and all the information I needed to plan my projects (interior and exterior). In subsequent weeks, as I needed various prep products, I visited other Dunn Edwards locations which were much closer to home, but when it came time for the large purchase of paint, I purposely returned to the Warner Rd. location due to Dade's previous assistance and professionalism. We all know as consumers that service ALWAYS makes the most difference, and when we experience it, we remember and purchase accordingly. It is rewarding to be able to write a glowing review, instead of the opposite, which is all too common these days. 5 stars to the amazing, very friendly and very nice lady who helped us choose our colors. We had an amazing experience with her. Unfortunately, every time we needed to come back the guy working at the cashiers was not so friendly or helpful. Customer service is everything. The paint is great. The store is fine. The employees are helpful. Their paint sample policy is awful. First, we had to pay $15 plus tax to get a paint chip sample booklet. We were told we could return it later for a refund, but we just wanted to see the approved colors for our HOA. It was just inconvenient that we had to make a trip back to get a refund. Second, when we decided on the colors we wanted, we first bought a couple samples so we could see how they would look on our home. We got them for about $11 for two samples, if I remember correctly. When we got the paint home, it was not even close to the color on the paint chip in the book. So... back to the store we went... to have them mix with a different percentage of dye in the paint. We were told that at 50% dye that we would have to buy a quart size of paint versus the sample because the sample couldn't fit the new percentage of dye in it. Huh? Isn't 50% half LESS? Whatever, so we had to pay for a quart of that paint. We had to make several trips back and forth to the store just to get quarts of paint mixed with different dye percentages. We finally got a different employee who told us that it was not because the dye could not fit, but because the computer was not configured to take different percentages for the sample size. Well, that makes more sense. But, why not have that ability? We finally got the paint we wanted and our painter did an amazing job. We are glad we saw the true color of the paint before buying what we needed for our home. If we hadn't, our house would look like camouflage right now! TIP: Always get a sample of the paint and paint a small area before committing! Would I come to this Dunn Edwards again? Sure, but I really hope I don't have to! read more

I got a color match in paint somewhere else-Two years later color dull didn't cover everywhere, wasn't vibrant. There has to be a store nearer. Needed some wet paint samples so I made a list and went to the Ahwatukee store. They had everything ready to protect their customers safety and were extremely helpful. Came into the store to get paint for 5 rooms, so only 10 gallons, small order for them, but big for me. One guy working with a customer. 4 more customers came in and the sales guys emerged from the back to assist and jumped on them. I stood at the color wall staring at the sales man as he avoided eye contact with me. I even verbalized the lack off assistance and was ignored. Watched the guy walk in back after actually making eye contact. Horrible service. Maybe they should stick to contractors and stop pretending they like to help the general public. Sales associate that finally did assist was brand new and was helpful and charming. When the new guy is out servicing the veterans something in the business model has failed. read more

Great customer service. They got my custom-paint order completed in less than the 20 minutes they had promised.

Worst quality paint. They won't stand behind their product and give you so much run around to give up and leave. The paint did not last a year with discoloration. Although they agreed they might have sold us the "bad paint" in the batch, I would have to hire another crew to touch up the bad paint areas. Not fair. There are much better brands and companies which I will start using. read more

We have used Dunn Edwards throughout our entire home and are very pleased with the quality. This is the second time Matthew, the color advisor, has assisted us in choosing colors. The first time was to paint the outside of our home. He was able to take our photos and show us different shades of paint with trim colors. The colors we chose turned out wonderful. The second time we visited with him we were struggling with a dark accent wall that needed to be changed. He was able to come up with a color to tie together all the other shades we had in a room, including walls and decor. He is very patient and very good at finding the colors that work specifically for you. I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to visit with Matthew before choosing paint! read more

I had tried two different color schemes using paint samples from Home Depot and I decided to go to Dunn-Edwards because my contractor was getting the paint there. As I'm looking at the colors I was is offered help by Ceci Astorga and I found her very easy to work with in trying to decide just what I wanted in relation to the house itself. She got a picture from me off my phone and filled in the colors so that we could look and see how different combinations appeared. Pretty cool apparently they'll give you an hour consultation for free. I tried two colors and went back to tweak one color. Ceci was extremely patient and found the perfect match excellent customer service. I would definitely use them again. read more

Jessica, the color consultant who works here, is a complete lifesaver. Deciding what colors to paint the exterior of your house is one of the most daunting home improvement-related decisions that I have ever had to make. She helped me establish what I like, pick a few swatches within that range, and narrow them down from there. Having her help made the process so much less overwhelming. She thought of things that I would never have even thought of, like making sure that the colors worked with the gravel that covers almost every square inch of my front yard. I ended up with a gorgeous house that is a complete 180 from what it was before it was painted, and she even gave me some landscaping ideas! I get compliments on my newly painted house all the time, and it's all thanks to Jessica. Also, the quality of the paint is incredible, and it's ALL low-VOC and manufactured in the southwest. It was incredibly helpful in choosing paint colors/finishes for the body and trim of the home in addition to our block wall and gazebo. We went home with paint samples and three photo shopped images of our house in various color schemes. It was easy to finalize everything with a second appointment the following week. Matthew was extremely patient throughout the process and gave a lot of insightful advice that helped us pick a great color scheme. Our house is now painted and looks fantastic.
