Donuts just make life a little better. So when I happen to be in the area driving down the street and spyed this location, of course my curiosity was peaked. Especially since I have never been to a Dunkin' Donuts, I made an u turn pronto and beelined it to DD. Right when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by the visual appeal of the decor, it was modern and fun. They have table seating and lounge chairs with tvs. Free wifi. Nice, they want you to sit, enjoy the food & coffee and stay a bit. The donuts are located in trays on the wall behind the cashier counter. It is a bit difficult to view them from a distance. I am a visual person and like the other Yelpers note, part of the enjoyment of eating a donut is the visual appeal of ogling and selecting it. On the Saturday afternoon I was there, the manager and cashier were patient,friendly, knowledgeable, and heLpful. I picked out a chocolate chocolate iced donut and a seasonal chocolate pretzel donut. They were both cake donuts. Yummy and dense cakey texture, not overly sweet. But I found out later after ordering that the icings contain fructose. So I sadly didn't eat the icing. Tidbits: They have a drive thru, serve large variety of the breakfast and regular sandwiches and pastries (including cake and fried donuts) all day, are open until late 10pm, serve coffee expresso and non coffee drinks, and sell the obligatory branded merchandise (mugs, stainless steel tumblers, ground coffee...). read more

When you have a craving for donuts, you never want to go during the afternoon or evening, because the donuts are not fresh. Always come right in the morning especially when they open to get the best tasting donuts. Because if you wait too long, most of the donuts that are served the entire day, will end up running out. Anyways....the donuts here are OK...in comparison to Krispy Kreme + Bakers Donuts. Their lattes and other drinks may be the actual winner. Besides coffee, donuts and frozen drinks, there are also sandwiches and wraps served here, that I have yet to try. read more

I usually can be a little tougher reviewing big name chain businesses simply because the level of customer service that is involved. Considering there are over 11,000 "Dunkin Donuts" locations nationwide, this one in Folsom is no exception. It is the 2nd location to open in the greater Sacramento area since 2015 as they try to put a dent into already well-known fan favorite places such as Starbucks & Dutch Bros. Located on the corner where Greenback Lane and Madison Ave meet at the Folsom/Orangevale border, this "Dunkin Donuts" opened its doors in April 2016. What sets them apart from the rest is that they carry a very impressive amount of breakfast sandwiches, coffee/espresso beverages, pastries, and of course, donuts. Since I am very fond of their locations on the east coast (which are literally on every block), I am not one to be super enthusiastic about them opening more locations in California. I had come here on a Sunday morning around 11:45am with my lady as we decided to fuel up on caffeine and carbs to start our day. Since this was our first time, the parking lot is rather spacious. There is also a drive-thru lane that provides enough space to go around for the people who who wish to stay in the vehicles. The inside is also lively, spacious, and has some modern touches such as a flatscreen TV and plush leather chairs. And there is also free Wi-Fi as well! As we glanced on the digital menu board, I decided on trying their "Bacon Wake-Up Wrap" (for $1.69), a side of "Oven Toasted Hash Browns" (for 99¢), and a "Plain Croissant" (for 89¢). To drink, I chose on abandoning a coffee drink and opted for a 12 oz. size of their "Tropical Mango Smoothie" (for $1.99). My lady decided on their "Ham, Egg, & Cheese" breakfast sandwich (for $3.49) with hash browns and an Iced Vanilla Latte. Now here is the reason for why this place is only 3-stars. The ordering system is very confusing. Since we dined in, they did mention the name of our breakfast items. However, they did not use an 'order number' and/or 'name' which confuses things even more. Many of the customers didn't even know if they were picking up the right item. Additionally, the woman who took my order couldn't even find the croissant on her touchscreen register and had to ask one of the supervisors to take over. When we did get all of our items, everything came out sporadically. Basically, the food items came out a good 5 minutes before our drinks arrived. And since I was already familiar with eating at several Dunkin Donuts in the past, the breakfast items were just so-so. My bacon wake-up wrap was small but tasted much like something you'd find at a 7-11. The hash brown nuggets were surprisingly good but they just don't give you very many for 99¢. And my mango smoothie was refreshing but a bit on the sweet sugary side. The iced vanilla latte that my lady ordered was decent but like my smoothie, it was very sweet. All in all, this is a decent Dunkin Donuts location. Business was thriving around midday but its really hard to say if they will conquer the coffee/pastry business in an already crowded and competitive market. The food is predictable while the donuts are forgettable (and far less tasty than your mom and pop donut shop). Maybe it's a throwback memory of my trip to Boston but I decided to check this place out. Super friendly young kid named David was awesome. If he was a designer I would have offered him a six figure salary job on the spot. They had this new flavored iced coffee, almond joy and health bar and he described them both perfectly and there were samples of that and some doughnut holes on the table of various flavors. It reminded me of the free food at work..... Anyways David was so helpful I have him a personal tip (money not advice) and bought a bacon supreme omelet sandwich to go. Basically it's an omelet with bacon and cheese on top sandwiched by a croissant. Tasty and hot. Awesome service for fast food I wish everyone could be that cool and enthusiastic about their job. I've had a lot of donuts in my day (I just love them), and I think I prefer the type of donuts they have here. Fluffy and cake-like, not too sweet, and on the smaller end. Doesn't taste overly fried or greasy to me either like a typical one. That said, I've only had drive through service at this location and have never had a bad experience. They've always been friendly and have done my orders right. I'm glad we have one in the area and hopefully one day they can have more creative and colorful flavors. No, the staff is not overly friendly, and the the drinks aren't anything to die for, but it's convenient and I do enjoy what I get. Today I placed my mobile order for pick up like normal, but when I get here to pick up my order the lobby was CLOSED and it was drive thru only... That's fine, so I go in a second time on another day, asking for light ice in my macchiato with a pump of vanilla. The ice couldn't have been MORE FULL. I think Dunkin Donuts is going to have a tough time. I visited them frequently when I worked back East and people back there swear by their coffee. DD is an institution. I enjoy their coffee much better than Starbuck's as it is not as bitter but penetrating the coffee market here against Starbuck's? Good luck. So if they can't get you in the door for coffee then the donuts and breakfast sandwiches will have to rise above. They don't. I had their donuts on a handful of occasions and they taste like supermarket donuts. They taste processed and not fresh. Can't hold a candle to mom and pop shops. So maybe the breakfast sandwiches will get you in the door. In my opinion no. I ordered their version of the Egg McMuffin and while the ingredients were the same (English Muffin, Egg, Ham, American Cheese) the DD version packs 120 more calories and a boatload more of fat and carbs. I realize part of the difference could be due to the fact that McDonald's uses Canadian Bacon as opposed to ham but that doesn't seem worth it. Frankly, I like the McMuffin better. I like the their poached egg better. I will give credit, the breakfast tots were nicely seasoned. The service was friendly and the store has a nice hip vibe but I just don't see them having a market. Van has never had a Dunkin Donut coffee, so when we drove by, she said "Lets stop" So, we did. we both ordered ice coffee.... WOW, doesn't even taste like coffee.
