For example, if you order a coffee on a Sunday morning, you can't order food to go with it because they say it'll take 20+ minutes...for something simple such as avocado toast. This is a smaller location of their chocolate fish stores. Smaller but cozy and nicely decorated. There are a decent amount of places to sit. I have a hot latte with beautiful latter art and an iced vanilla latte. They are both so good. I prefer not too sweet so the latte is perfect. But if you prefer sweet you can't go wrong with a vanilla latte. Service is super friendly and baristas are very good at their craft. There are lots of parking as it's in a plaza. I hate to give 1 star but I think it's warranted and hopefully management will make the necessary changes. I ordered a cappuccino. I was served bascially an espresso shot-sized cup, only 3 to 4 ounces (at the most). A traditional cappuccino is more than that, 5 to 6 ounces. When I asked the barista if there was a mistake since a cappuccino has more liquid, she spouted out a canned response: "Well Starbucks does it..." Very insulting assumption. I am very knowledgeable about espresso/coffee lol. I avoid Starbucks nowadays and frequent local roasters instead. Also, the foam was waaay too bubbly. It should be microfoam. read more

I asked the barista what blends were less acidic and she told me I could read the labels on the bags of coffee beans and find the "fruity" ones. This was a rather off putting response because in all reality my expectation is all coffee baristas should be able to let me know about the coffee beans without me having to read all the bags of coffee beans. It's really a bummer because I used to love this place but something has changed. They are consistently understaffed at all times of day. The quality has plummeted, as well as the knowledge of the staff. There used to be a consistent crew who knew what they were doing and created amazing drinks, and were super knowledgeable now almost all of them are gone. There was a tall guy who made the best drinks and beautiful latte art, and I don't know where he went. There was a girl with glasses and brown ombre hair with blond who could tell you anything about a different coffee bean or its processing, and would honestly recommend drinks. She was so friendly and helpful and always remembered my name and my dog. There was a girl with dark brown hair who made amazing flat whites! And a shorter girl who was really funny and always talked to me while I was waiting for my drinks. All of them are gone and now most of the staff has no idea what they are talking about, can't answer questions, take forever to make drinks that I end up drinking a few sips of when I get in my car and then end up throwing away. It's a shame because this used to be my favorite place to get coffee on my way to work or while running errands. I would go out of my way, now I only go in if I need something from that specific plaza, and every time I'm disappointed. The only exception is the girl who changes her hair colors, it's usually blue or greenish. She is so friendly, always remembers my name and makes great recommendations. There was also a younger guy, I think I heard someone call him "Arm"? who is incredibly personable. I don't see him often and have never tried his drinks but he is really friendly. I heard the company was bought recently and I can only assume that the new owners are valuing profit over quality and cutting hours. So it doesn't surprise me that people who worked there for years are leaving. On my last visit there were only 2 people working, one went on break, I didn't recognize either of them. I had to wait almost 10 minutes for my Iced vanilla flat white while one employee seemed flustered and embarrassed and told me just to wait a minute, then the employee who went on break had to come back to make my drink. That seems messed up. I also asked for a waffle, and they told me the kitchen was closed. It was over an hour before closing and the kitchens closed? I don't want to make anyone stay later when they are trying to close down, but that seems excessive. Just leads me to believe it's the new owners prioritizing the bottom line over service, quality, and their employees. I'm going to give them one more chance, but I will not go out of my way to do so. Really a shame because the quality of the coffee is great, the drinks used to be fabulous, and the concept with the New Zealand-style drinks was really cool. Just another local shop being bought out by some corporate types who think they can make a buck without understanding the company or caring about the employees and loyal customers. read more

What a pleasant discovery today! I am a chai expert and wanted to give theirs a try. I'm always skeptical about chai mix especially when it's in liquid form. I've had some not so good ones with the liquid base verses powder bases. Anyway, all that to say this was one of the BEST chai lattes I've ever had!! I did the 2% but the whole milk they offered would have been even more creamy and rich tasting. I'll have to try that version next time I go. I will definitely be going back! My hubby and son both had the mochas and they too were equally amazing and delicious. They also had a nice selection of pastries and some sandwiches. I would also like to try that when I go back. Last week, I came here at opening for a drip coffee with half and half. They gave me coffee with split milk. Today, I come in after opening and order another drip coffee, this time no milk. The two female baristas had not gotten their cash register together enough for opening. They asked if I could pay with card, but I did not have one, only cash. I offered to give them five dollars in ones (a drip is only $3.99), but the inexperienced baristas would not take the money for some reason. I've worked at many coffee shops including blue bottle (better coffee than chocolate fish by far), and in every coffee shop, in this instance, we would just take the cash and give the customer their black drip coffee. Will not be coming back. Coffee and service are terrible. Hospitality has gone down the drain. read more

This used to be my favorite coffee shops. Unfortunately the last few visits have been subpar. The baristas have over steamed my hot lattes making it piping hot. The iced vanilla lattes have been okay, but for the $6.55 price tag, I don't feel it's worth it. The baristas during my visits have seemed unorganized and frantic, even when the shop appears to be slow with not many customers. This gives me the impression they haven't had proper training.
