Best avocado toast

I love this coffee shop. The location is great. The staff is amazing and friendly. The coffee and avocado toast taste so so good!!!!

You're so matcha cute!

I finally made it on a early morning to rock at society. I went in for the house made pop-tart and renown drummer signature drink, "the Mike Johnston Matcha". Unfortunately the pop-tarts were sold out and I ended up just getting an oat matcha but still had a cozy time on a cold rainy day in April. Service was rad, the new gal on cash was slaying. Barista was friendly and being an owner of a rocket espresso machine, their large rocket machine is pretty sweet too! The vibes here are so good, a legit hidden gem if you will and I hope you visit!

Chef's bowl with bacon, sadly and my not-too exciting Graham Latte with missing waffle cookie.

Visited Sociology Coffee Bar in Folsom last Sunday after church around 10:15 AM, and overall it was an enjoyable experience. It's a cute little coffee spot with a fun vibe and great music (Drake was playing!), although seating inside is very limited. There are a few outdoor seats as well. I ordered the Chef's Bowl, and because I love rice, they were kind enough to add an extra scoop of rice along with the potatoes, which I really appreciated. I had asked for the bacon to be removed, but unfortunately it was still included, and there was a lot of it in the bowl. I spent most of the meal picking it out, which definitely took away from the experience a bit, but the dish itself was still delicious. I also noticed the presentation was different from what I expected. My graham vanilla bourbon latte was missing the cookie, and the drink came in a plastic cup instead of the tall glass I'd had on previous visits. My food also came in a little to-go carton instead of plated presentation. Has the place moved away from using plates and glassware? If so, what a pity, presentation really does make a difference, especially for such a cute café atmosphere. One thing I found interesting is that despite being only a few feet away from Karen's Bakery, Sociology still had a steady line of people waiting for coffee and food, which says a lot about how popular it is. I'd definitely like to try it again on a weekday and hope my latte will be in a glassware and my Chef's bowl does not have bacon!

Ambiance: Not the best experience on a Sunday. The space felt small and the lines were long, which made it pretty crowded. Service: The staff was great--very friendly and helpful. Coffee: Excellent quality, though a bit on the expensive side. Food: My daughter said the breakfast tacos were excellent. I had the bowl, which was good but quite spicy. The portion felt a little small for the price.

Cute coffee shop with plenty of options to choose from. Their coffee was delicious and on the stronger side. Also tried their matcha, which personally I wanted more of the matcha taste. Plenty of seating options. Easy to find. Staff was very friendly.

First of all: they don't have a phone!!!!! And I confirmed that when I got there! I wanted to call in an order because I wanted to have it done by a certain time - which you can't do it on their online platform. Getting there I was helped by this girl who clearly didn't want to be there. She was coughing and coughing behind the counter. Super gross and unsanitary. The barista guy was nice and I left a tip because of him mostly. Cute place - I ordered 13 coffees and it took forever to be done. I really wanted to like this place. But I can't back it up. The tesora coffee I ordered was good. Expensive place too. I will not return. But the vibe is cool - it's very San Francisco kind of coffee shop vibe.

Food & Drinks: I ordered the Iced Teddy Graham, which features bourbon vanilla, espresso with iced coffee, chocolate bitters, and oat milk. The drink leaned much more on the bitter side than I expected. I also tried the Avocad-OMG toast. It was a very small and simple slice of toast topped with avocado--no egg or additional toppings. For $13.50, it felt pretty underwhelming in size and presentation. Location & Parking: Parking and locating the shop were both a bit tricky. The front side of the building doesn't have street parking directly in front--only across a busy street. The back side of the building sits on a lower level, so you have to go up to the 3rd level using stairs or an elevator to reach the café. My GPS initially brought me to the backside near other businesses, and there were no signs or directions pointing to the coffee shop, which made it confusing to find. Ambiance: Inside, the shop has an intimate and cozy feel. A few groups were dining in and chatting, giving it a relaxed vibe for a weekday morning. Service: The cashier/barista was very friendly and took my order right away. My drink and food were prepared quickly, which I appreciated since I was on a schedule. Overall: I was in the area for an appointment and decided to try something new. While the service was great, the drink and food didn't quite hit the mark for me, and the parking/location challenges were a downside. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, but it was an interesting spot to try once.

Sociology is one of a few specialty coffee shops in downtown Folsom and is located by the Lake Natoma Inn. I've enjoyed their specialty espresso drinks, but their service has been inconsistent. My last trip I walked over from the farmers market and while I was waiting for my drink I sat down at one of the tables and took a bite from something and was told I couldn't sit there or take a bite from my food while I waited for my drink.

This spot is FIRE! 5 stars! Service is awesome food is great! this place is a vibe! The iced vanilla oatmilk latte is my go 2 and it never disappoints!

Tacos !
Robert L.

Shop ? On point and cute. Food? Freaking awesome! Hit the spot and tacos are a must if you come here. Drinks ? Duh they were perfect after coming off the lake from SUP. In all this place is a must if you're in the area.. the staff is inviting and personable.

SERVICE: counter style, kind of clunky when busy due to no pager system to alert you when your order is ready so you either need to cluster up in limited available inside space or constantly pop inside from the patio to check on your order. Not a big deal, but meh. AMBIANCE: small inside, lovely patio FLAVORS: Matcha (3/5) Teddy graham (4/5) Carnitas taco (2/5) - beautiful, but dry and not that flavorful. PORTIONS: reasonable PRICE: pricey, but location and open hours make it worth it

Lil B.

The directions to this coffee shop using Waze took us to a lower level parking lot. Sociology is street level so wet has to go up a couple flights of stairs. Consider parking on the street to avoid the stairs. Cute spot. Make sure to ask questions about the menu - they have a cortado but it's not called that. Good luck and enjoy!

Passionberry tea, white iverson coffee and a chocolate chip muffin
Dennette S.

We were looking for a cafe that has a few different coffees and tea drinks. This spot did not disappoint. Such a nice location, ample seating inside and out. We tried the breakfast tacos along with a chocolate chip muffin. We loved the chat on the tortilla, totally added that extra something to the breakfast tacos. Great spot to stop by, when your taking a walk through old Folsom

A Great Breakfast Stop After a Hike in Auburn! We came here…read morefor breakfast during the week after a hike in Auburn. We had just finished the Lake Clementine/Dam hike and were very hungry afterward, so we headed into town and ended up at Mario's. First of all, Mario's is a very pretty space. I loved the black-and-white aesthetic and the simple but thoughtful décor. There's bar seating, booths, and tables both inside and outside. Parking is plentiful, so that's definitely not an issue. I started with a regular latte, while my cousin ordered a chai latte. My latte was beautiful and served in a very original, deep, low cup that I absolutely loved. It was delicious and just perfect. Unfortunately, the chai latte wasn't really to our liking. It didn't taste much like chai to us--it had a strong cinnamon flavor and a combination of flavors that made it difficult to tell exactly what we were drinking. So, the chai was definitely not our favorite. For breakfast, I ordered what I would call their breakfast sampler, with eggs, bacon, and hash browns, which also came with a portion of French toast. My cousin ordered their Monte Cristo sandwich. My eggs and hash browns were amazing, and there was plenty of bacon! I chose all bacon, and it was thick-cut, smoky, and cooked to perfection. The plates here are HUGE, and the portions are definitely abundant. My cousin's Monte Cristo was their lighter take on the classic. Instead of being deep-fried, their version is dipped in batter and cooked, which makes it a little less heavy. It looked beautiful and had plenty of ingredients inside, but for us, it was just okay. We've definitely had better Monte Cristo sandwiches. Now, the French toast... WOW. This was easily my favorite part of the meal. The bread had this delicious cinnamon-sugar coating on top that took it to another level. Add the soft, fluffy butter and maple syrup, and it was absolutely superb. That French toast alone would bring me back! I also appreciated the nice, cold ice water that was kept at our table throughout the meal. Service was super nice and pretty quick, especially considering how busy they were. I also loved how many options they give you to customize your meal. I could choose between different types of bacon, sausage, or turkey, and my cousin was able to customize her sandwich and ended up choosing cottage cheese to go with a healthier, higher-protein option. They also have sweet potato fries, regular fries, and plenty of other sides that you can substitute depending on what you're looking for. The ambiance was great, everything was clean and well maintained, and even the bathrooms were in good condition. Overall, this was a very good breakfast experience. Not everything was a home run for us, but the service, atmosphere, generous portions, customization options, and especially that French toast made it a place I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area. And after a hike? Even better!

When I asked to substitute chicken for pork hot links, I was told substitutions were not allowed and that getting chicken would cost an additional $10--roughly half the price of an average meal on the menu. That felt excessive for a simple request. Our hot drinks arrived lukewarm. When we mentioned it, we were told that was the temperature the machine produces, which did little to address the concern. There was also some drink spilled down the outside of a cup to covering bottom of saucer when it was served. It's a small detail, but wiping the cup before serving it or simply providing napkins would have helped. This was early afternoon, and the restaurant appeared less than 20% full, so the lack of attention was especially disappointing. The setting is lovely, but more attentive service and a more accommodating approach would make the experience much better.

According to my friend, the room is gorgeous as well; I'll have to check it out next time I visit. They had a lot of scrumptious-looking dessert but they were a little out of my budget. They're beautiful though, and I'd try one for a special occasion (the coffee bean dessert cost $20). The cashier (owner, I'm guessing?) was welcoming and helpful when I said it was my 1st time there and pointed out a list of specials. I'll have to try the cherry blossom and banana drinks in the future! They have private shared parking with a bunch of other businesses; I found a spot easily on a recent Saturday morning. Thank you!

We were seated for dinner pretty quickly. The only problem I had was deciding what to order. The luau shrimp salad? Meatball sub? I finally decided on the lobster mac and cheese. While the portion wasn't large, it was delicious! Creamy and mild with fresh lobster (not fishy) and garlicy breadcrumbs. My husband got the ribeye and was thin but large with great seasoning and veggies. I'm not a big steak fan but I really liked it. We ended up grabbing some beignets to go for the kids, which were really tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces (our favorite was the Berry, although we ended up eating most of them without sauce). The atmosphere was upscale, but very casual, quiet and fun. We saw families with young children, couples on dates, and friends enjoying a meal together. Worse for us since our neighboring table decided to watch something on his phone without headphones... The food looked incredible, but flavor simply wasn't there. The best thing I had was the waffle alone and the gravy. The chicken was dry- obviously fried previously and reheated for the order. The waffle had great flavor and texture. The syrup was thick and of good quality. The Sunnyside up eggs were slightly undercooked with the whites runny which left my 11-year old only having a few bites. The hashbrowns we're not crispy and not well seasoned. My over-easy eggs were cooked perfectly, but the ham steak was also shockingly unseasoned (it wasn't even salty, to my surprise). The biscuit was HUGE and looked incredible but when bitten into immediately turned to mush- it felt like eating dough. If it were cooked just a few minutes longer, it would have been the best thing we ordered. The gravy was the best flavored item. Oh, as well as their homemade raspberry jam. Delicious! In all, I'd recommend very basic foods like the waffles, bacon, and eggs. Everything else was mid and be aware of a super loud, small space.
