Tipping shouldn't be automatic. It should reflect the service you receive. It's also a bit overpriced. Two burritos and two black coffees came to about $50 after a 15% tip, which feels excessive. I won't tip next time unless I actually receive good customer service, assuming I decide to come back. Without the quality of the food, this rating would have been even lower because of the price and the service I experienced this morning. If I had been helped by someone with a friendlier attitude, it would have made a big difference. With better customer service, I'd say the current 3.8-star overall rating is fair.

My son took 3 small bites and never finished the rest. The barista that was taking orders was rude but there were 2 other baristas handing out drink orders that were very nice. I do wish I had ordered my items "to go" because it took awhile to find a spot to sit. I wouldn't say it was busy but there was a lot of people studying and working at this location so almost all tables were occupied by the same people the entire time I was there. I do like that you can get your coffee in a mug but I wanted to leave after I realized I'd have to wait for a table to free up. It was very quiet at this location (since pretty much everyone was working/studying) so I felt a bit awkward being there with my young child. You order with the people working inside the parked Airstream and then you have the choice of enjoying your drink at one of the tables available outside, or by walking into the lobby space adjacent to the Airstream. I love finding a space inside and have spent a few hours at a time here, working undisturbed on various things. The beautiful interior makes it hard to leave. I have a couple cons, though. One, it's hard to enjoy this place on bad weather days because you're waiting for your drink to be made while standing in the cold or wind. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and came back a second time, thinking perhaps they had simply been understaffed. The service was very slow, although the food was good. This morning, after visiting the farmers market, we stopped by again. This is a café inside a bookstore within a shopping center, so I was surprised by how restrictive the experience was. We had brought The Melt for my 11-year-old daughter because she is a very picky eater. We were holding the bag when we were seated, and I did not see any signs indicating that outside food was prohibited. If that was the policy, I would have expected someone to tell us before seating us. Instead, we waited another 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. After taking our order and collecting the menus, the waitress addressed my daughter directly--not the parents--and told her that she couldn't eat her food inside and would need to go eat it outside on the far patio. I asked if we could simply be served outside, at which point she said she would "make an exception" and let us stay. I have no problem following a restaurant's rules, but the way this was handled was extremely disappointing. If outside food is not allowed, customers should be informed when they arrive or before they are seated--not after they have already waited 15 minutes. More importantly, I found it inappropriate that the waitress addressed this issue directly with my 11-year-old and told her she would need to eat outside, rather than speaking to the parents. The implication that my child should go eat her meal by herself away from us was particularly upsetting. At this point, it wasn't really about the food or even the outside-food policy. It was the repeated pattern of poor service, lack of communication, and the way this situation was handled. We ultimately decided to leave, despite the offer to make an exception. After three attempts, I can't justify giving this establishment my business again. The food may be good, but good food isn't enough when the service and customer experience are consistently this disappointing.
