The Hog Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Soup and a White Mocha
    Bryan Jerard D.

A wonderful, quaint cafe in Carmichael with great decorative choices contributing to a welcoming and warm ambiance. I was greeted by smiling staff who gave me great recommendations for food. The smell of the custom signature grilled cheeses mixing with the freshly-brewed coffee fills the whole building. The Whole Hog sandwich was a flavorful blend of meat and cheese complemented by the bitterness of the White Mocha. Not to mention the classic combo of tomato soup next to it. Fast Cat Cafe is a gem in Carmichael I wish I would've known about sooner.

Popped into Fast Cat the other morning, looking forward to enjoying a late-morning espresso beverage and one of their gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. I had a hunch that the establishment was somehow related to Shift Coffee on El Camino in Sacramento, so I asked the barista when she took my order. Turns out, the two coffee/grilled cheese shops once shared an owner, but have since split. No matter; they each have cool, laid back motorcycle/race-car vibes...but MUCH more importantly, great coffee and grilled cheese varieties to satisfy even the most discerning sweet OR savory tastebuds. At Fast Cat Coffee, I opted for the Tuscan Garden grilled cheese, which featured scrambled eggs, spinach, garlic jack & sage white cheddar cheeses, and cremini mushrooms, all sandwiched between two amazingly crispy, buttery slices of toasted French bread. Drink wise, I ordered "La Mora Mocha," with dark chocolate, blackberry syrup and something called Sinner Spice. It was delectable! Definitely would come back here for the cozy neighborhood meetup vibes, friendly service, and to try the other grilled cheese & coffee options.

Lively coffee shop that serves up some really good grilled cheese (but fancy) sandwiches. We shared the Divine order sandwich which had chicken breast, garlic jack and fontina cheeses. Very good mild flavor. I plan to try the hot chick next time which has spicier ingredients. The sandwiches are generous in size and big enough to share. I also tried the superleggera which was a honey latte with a ton of flavor. I will get this drink again for sure. I got The Hog and one of the Harry potter drink concoctions to go and the hubby loved both. The baristas were very sweet and service was quick despite the shop being packed. I'm glad this shop is in my neighborhood.

I've been here once after wanting to try a new coffee shop and not realizing this gem was near me! This is a cafe and a grilled cheese shop rolled into one that serves delicious food and drinks! The restaurant is beautiful inside, lots of seating and natural light pouring in, really friendly staff, and a large menu to look through. I came for brunch by myself and got the Midtown Morning sandwich and the Bugatti breve latte. Both were great, the latte was warm and flavorful. The sandwich was super filling and amazing. Perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and was great with hot sauce. I ended up eating half and taking half home it was a great size! I always think about this place and have to come back to try some more items!

My husband and I came around 8:30am and parked in one of the many open spots in the parking lot. There was only one other customer ahead of us and plenty of seating. The staff were friendly and everything was made quickly. We ordered the Midtown Morning breakfast sandwich which was really good. My husband ordered a Vanilla Latte + Caramel, and I ordered the Bugatti Breve Latte. The Vanilla Caramel Latte was really good, we would definitely order it again. I also really liked the Bugatti, but my husband wasn't a fan, so I guess it's not for everyone. Overall, good food, good coffee, friendly staff, good atmosphere, easy parking. A great little Carmichael gem!

Yelped this spot after hunger hit, not familiar with the area. Glad we came! This is an obvious coffee spot, you'll see folks with books/laptops sipping on their large emotional support beverage. But you'll also smell their grilled cheese sandwiches. My son and I ordered their breakfast sandwich and then a "make your own" grilled cheese..,and of course we each had a cup of their tomato bisque. Their tomato bisque is absolutely one of the best i've had. There's a little graininess to the consistency - like fresh parmesan, which made it memorable. The sourdough bread was cooked perfectly; the right crunch/toast without being burnt. 1/2 a sandwich with the soup was plenty for one meal. Would definitely come back!

This is a local coffee shop with friendly faces. Their coffee is served extremely hot (great as I've noticed some places serve a warm-hot cup with how busy they are) They have unique flavors and the theme is fun (car, petrol station)

My mom and I have been to Fast Cat before, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. It's a small café with a fun vibe, friendly staff, and seriously good food. This time, we split an Orchard King grilled cheese and some tomato soup - and it was more than enough for both of us. The sandwich was golden and gooey, the soup was flavorful and comforting. We also treated ourselves to their iced lavender coffee - it's become a favorite of ours, and it never disappoints. Whether it's a quick stop or a relaxing lunch, Fast Cat always hits the spot. We'll continue to drop by whenever we get the chance!

If you are fan of grilled cheese get ready to get your hands dirty! We got one After School Special (Make your own grilled cheese) and one Midtown Morning for breakfast to go. Both were delicious! While picking up the order I must say I really like the atmosphere in the cafe and the people were really nice so definitely will also dine-in. You can work or study inside the cafe like any other coffee shop but also admire the decoration and their speciality drinks! Service was quick and very friendly, thanks for all!

    Superleggera
    Kylie S.

WOW! I was immediately blown away by the vintage charm of this coffee shop. They have a whole menu of coffee and a whole menu of gourmet grilled cheeses. I dropped in on a Saturday morning so it was a bit too early for me to eat a grilled cheese but their menu is intriguing so I will return for that. The staff is very friendly and I was so surprised at how amazing the coffee was. I ordered a Superleggera Espresso and steamed almond milk with sinner spice which is a combination of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and cocoa powder and sweetened with honey. They offer a 16oz - (2 shots) or large (20oz - 4 shots). I do not like overly sweet coffee so this was absolutely perfect and the spice gave it a sweet kick. I love everything about this place and will definitely be returning.

Iced Bugatti Breve Latte & Custard Scone
    Justin S.

I've always heard of Fast Cat Coffee but haven't been yet. Decided to come by and do some work since the weather was hot. When I first walked in I was greeted by the barista and I decided to order the Iced Bugatti Breve Latte & Custard Scone. I ordered the Bugatti because I notice on Yelp that it was popular and now I know why. The drink tasted amazing! It was the perfect amount of sweetness as well. Perfectly paired with my pastry. I was surprised how moist the pastry was. If I lived closer this would be my to go to spot to get some work done. Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some coffee and some good pastries!

Who doesn't like coffee and a grilled cheese sandwich? Well if you're looking for a place that has both, Fast Cat Coffee is the spot for you. My boyfriend and I stopped by on Sunday for breakfast before 9 am. There were a bunch of people here already which was a great sign for the food/drinks. We were greeted by who I believe is the owner and she was extremely friendly! We ordered The Hog and Wake Up in Guanajuato. For coffee, I got the Superleggera with whole milk and my boyfriend got the Bugatti Breve Latte. The Hog was my favorite out of the two sandwiches. I really liked how all the different meats complimented each other while providing different flavors. I also loved the texture difference with having the cheese on the outside of the sandwich. The Wake Up in Guanajuato was a good sandwich too. I'd definitely recommend asking for the salsa on the side as we did. It kept the sandwich from getting soggy or wet. It just wasn't my favorite, I don't think a "breakfast" sandwich is my thing. Coffee was decent. When I asked if I could substitute the almond milk in the Superleggera with 2% I thought it was cool they could do half whole and half nonfat. I never thought of this before nor been given that option before, so I really appreciated that. To make it less complicated I just went with whole milk. The coffee was a tad bit on the watery side for me and didn't have a strong enough coffee/espresso taste, so that was a let down. Out of the two coffees, I'd say the Bugatti Breve Latte was the better one. It was more creamy and more flavor. Overall, really great service and good food! Also if you like the whole biker vibe, this place is perfect for you. It's really cool to see all the different artwork and pieces here.

Crispy bacon, tasty onion rings (in the burger, as well as on the side), gooey melted cheese, & a perfectly cooked patty just juicy enough to turn the last bite or 2 of the whole burger into a bit of a mess. The Chicken Foot Pale Ale was decent for style, though a little old school in terms of recipe/ malts/ hops. Still, a refreshing pairing for the Risky Burger. This time started off a little rough, but in the end they made it right, which is why I'm writing this review. I placed a to-go order for steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas. The order was repeated back to me correctly when I called it in. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was clearly focused on serving the diners inside first, so my order took about an extra 25 minutes. Not ideal, but understandable given how packed the restaurant was. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the bag, the fajitas only contained steak -- there was no chicken or shrimp included. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to explain what happened. At first there was some back-and-forth about possible solutions, including bringing the food back or only replacing part of the order. My husband had already started eating because he was hungry, so returning the food wasn't really practical. To the manager's credit, she took the situation seriously and actually called the owner at home to explain what had happened. Shortly afterward she called me back and let me know the owner approved remaking the entire order correctly at no additional cost. That completely changed the experience. For me, good customer service isn't about the money -- it's about making things right when a mistake happens. Once they stepped in and corrected the situation, it showed they value their customers and their reputation. Mistakes happen at every restaurant, especially when things are busy. What matters is how a business responds. Cantina Azteca ultimately did the right thing, and because of that we will absolutely continue to come back. Thank you to the manager and owner for making it right.
