Black Cadillac

I Always go to the Home Depot this cafe is located in front of and wanted to try this spot. I finally did and they did not disappoint. I made my order, went inside Home depot to shop and my order was ready when i came out. The mac and cheese was really rich and flavorful. The tri tip sandwhiches had a vietnamese "banh mi" vibe with the baguette and the meat was very tender. Will come back to try their chili

Guava palmer!

Food is amazing. Customer service is amazing. Drinks are great as well. If you're thinking about trying this spot just do it. You won't regret it.

I came here for lunch as I'm a big sandwich fan and read the many positive reviews. The place is a hole in the wall type of place in that the restaurant is attached to the front facade of the Home Depot. There are many choices and I went with the recommended Cadillac Sandwich which is made with tri-tip, garlic butter, parm-cheese blend, lettuce and tomato on warm toasted white bread. The flavors were on spot and complimented well with the recommended Japanese lemonade soda. Definitely add this to your list of great Sacramento sandwich spots. I look forward to coming back soon.

Stumbled on this spot during a home depot errand, and DANG!! IT WAS GOOOOOD!!!! I told myself id take the couple minutes to holler and share so others can enjoy it like I did. I had the "Fire Breather" sandwich! PERFECT balance of sweet, spicy, tender, crispy bun, melt in your mouth perfection... This is the kinda hole in the wall i'd bring out-of-town friends to. Hoping they make a full sized restaurant with this menu!!!! And maybe some fries and beers in the future :D

Big Boss Cafe is a little known hidden sandwich shop that is located just outside of home Depot! If you haven't been to Big Boss Cafe yet, let this be your sign to go immediately. Big Boss Cafe specialty is the Tri Tip sandwich. I ordered the Smokey Sauce BBQ Tri Tip sandwich and it was delicious! The sandwich delivers big flavors with caramelized onions that just brings the sandwich up to another level of flavors! The bread roll is soft on the inside with just the right amount of chew and a golden, slightly crisp exterior, it's the ideal vessel for the Tri Tip meat. It holds everything together without getting soggy, and its warm, toasty flavor complements the savory meat. This place knows how to make a delicious sandwich! Will definitely be coming back!

Black Cadillac was really good. True bbq sandwich. Parmesan cheese was a good touch. Super friendly and accommodating Hidden gem! Going back tomorrow

Wow, what a hidden gem, at Home Depot of all places! Must be the cheap rent that allows them to use the best ingredients. Was stuck at Les Schwab and needed to find a walkable lunch place. If you've ever been disappointed by a restaurant, come here and restore your faith in humanity. We had the tri-tip dip and chili dog- totally elevated experience! The guy at the counter was also friendly and clearly cared about his work!

The Black Cadillac. Lots of garlic!

If you haven't been to Big Boss Cafe in front of Home Depot, it's probably because it blends in perfectly with all the tough sheds outside. But let me tell you--this place is a total hidden gem! So, my fiancé sent me on a Home Depot run (classic), and I knew he'd be hungry. Enter: the Black Cadillac combo. You guys... this sandwich is life-changing. Tri-tip, garlic, Parmesan cheese, lettuce, tomato--all piled onto a toasted garlic roll that dreams are made of. I grabbed chips and a lemonade too. They let you fancy up your lemonade with flavors, but honestly, the regular lemonade was so good I didn't even bother. The guy working there was awesome--super friendly and even gave me a military/healthcare discount (I didn't even ask!). Everything was packaged perfectly while I ran inside to do my shopping. When I got home, my fiancé was so impressed with his sandwich that I'm pretty sure I earned myself a free pass on chores for the rest of the week. He couldn't stop raving about it! Moral of the story: next time you're at Home Depot, skip the sheds and hit up Big Boss Cafe. Your taste buds--and maybe your significant other--will thank you too (wink, wink)!

Blackberry mango!!

I've passed up this quaint little pop up once too many times, but today was the day to try, and I'm so glad I did. The owner is extremely warm and welcoming and told me that they stay open until people stop showing! Who does that, unless they love what they do. I love the setup, super rustic and cute. The names of items on menu are also super unique. I ordered the power plant---- I couldn't believe I ate the entire thing, that good! Good flavor, the sweetness of the grilled onions, complimented with the light heat from the peppers, and sour from the pickles with the zest and cream of the pesto.. let's not forget the baked bread used- all a wonderful combo, and my palette thanks you both for that! I was told that the Turkey BLT and the black Cadillac were on point as well. The blackberry mango was so refreshing and delightful. It really felt like Summer while the tea! I also heard from the fellas that the banana pudding was super delicious- it's a shame I'm allergic to chocolate!! 5 stars--- come and order! You will NOT be disappointed- trust me! There are also two cute little wooden tables, if you wanted to just chill and eat there. I love that they cater to the men and women who work hard there at Home Depot or construction workers coming in and going back out to work. Very cool stuff!

Tri-Tip Dip
Cameron C.

For a shack in front of a Home Depot, they know how to whip up a delicious f****** sandwich. I got the tri tip dip. I wish they gave me more au jus sauce however the sandwich was fantastic! The bread was soft, the tri tip was a little fatty, but good, the pesto was amazing, the onions were bussin, and the cheese was alright. Highly recommend for a quick grab (if there's no line). Not to mention they even have VEGGIE options.

Food

My favorite sandwich is a Black Cadillac . I never have time to stop by somewhere to get a food , to busy schedule. Here I can make an order before I go shopping at the Home Depot and after that I get my sandwich ready.

They have an amazing happy hour menu that goes until 10 Pm. The prime rib tacos were SO amazing, not spicy, so flavorful and the texture of the corn salsa added so much to the whole bite. The garlic fries were fantastic, loaded with chopped garlic (jarred kind), parsley and parm. We also tried the loaded potato skins, they were great but I was pretty full by the time they came so we left a wounded soldier. The tumbleweed onion straws were also fantastic! My friends ordered prime rib, kabobs and the filet mignon and were nice enough to share! The prime rib is served on a sizzling plate with au jus, and was fantastic! The filet was well seasoned and the kabobs were good, although I prefer a little more rare. The appetizer happy hour menu had $6 and $8 items, food and drinks. The howdy beer was $4 and was pretty decent! My friends loved the $6 raspberry lemon drops! Above all of this though, our server was amazing. She worked her butt off for us and really made our visit Amazing. I'm the worst and only caught that her name started with a J, and she'd been there for 20 years. She was so attentive and recommended amazing dishes. I can't wait for our next annual trip, this place just became part of my tradition!

She patiently explained the menu and answered all of our questions. We ordered across the menu: a ribeye, a filet, the salmon, and one of the daily specials, scallops. We also ordered the Brie and bacon jam appetizer and one of our party had a Caesar Salad. There were a couple of substitutions: extra spinach instead of mashed potatoes with the salmon and fingerling potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes with the ribeye. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as well. Everything was delicious and prepared exactly as ordered. The proteins were substantial, well worth the price. We tried two desserts, the crème brûlée and the banana cheesecake. They matched the quality of the entrees. Everyone remarked on how great the sourdough bread that was brought to the table was. As the ladies in our party said, you could make a meal out of the bread along with some cheese and wine. We were seated in one of the side rooms, which didn't seem to hinder the service at all. Our water glasses were promptly refilled. It was a great experience.

FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience!

Gangnam Ave has been my absolute favorite KBBQ spot for years, and after trying several places…read morearound Sacramento, this one still tops them all. Honestly, it's so good that I haven't even felt the need to keep searching for another go-to. I've visited with small groups of 3-4 people and also larger groups of 6-10, and the experience has remained consistently great overall. One thing I like about Gangnam Ave is how their pricing works. Instead of the typical lunch vs. dinner menu, they offer Option A or Option B, where some premium meats are excluded from the cheaper option. It's basically the same concept as lunch/dinner pricing, but I appreciate that it isn't tied to the time of day. For reference, they open at 4pm on weekdays and 12pm on weekends, which feels pretty reasonable to me since KBBQ is usually more of a late lunch or dinner type of meal anyway. The variety of meats is one of the main reasons I love coming here. When I do AYCE, I'm going all in -- usually 4-5 rounds -- so I'm not trying to stick with just basic bulgogi. Gangnam Ave offers things you don't always see at other spots like small and large intestines, pork jowl, beef tongue, and spicy baby octopus, and the marinades here for some of the meats are flavorful. I've eaten at other KBBQ spots over the years for different reasons (my sister even worked at Oz for several years), but Gangnam Ave will always have a special place in my stomach. The appetizers are also solid. Their corn cheese is easily my favorite -- instead of a flat dish with watery corn and melted cheese tossed on top, they give you individual foil cups so you can throw it on the grill and melt it perfectly yourself. I'm lactose intolerant and still order it every single time. The steamed egg is always fluffy and never overcooked, and it pairs perfectly with the meats. I also usually order their soondubu; I'm not overly picky about tofu soup, but as long as it isn't watered down, I'm happy -- and theirs always hits the spot. Their drink menu is small but fun, especially if you like soju. They have some mixed soju drinks, and there's a strawberry + Sprite one with a strawberry-infused ice cube called Super Shy that has become my go-to whenever I visit. Sweet, bubbly, and dangerously easy to drink. Now for the meat itself: it comes out raw, of course, so the final result depends on how well your group can grill. If you've got someone in your group who knows what they're doing, you really can't go wrong. Portions are reasonable for the group size, orders usually come out pretty quickly, and they change the grills every round or two. Most tables have one grill for every four people, so larger groups will typically get two grills. Like most KBBQ places, the experience can depend on your server. I've had many different ones over the years -- most are great, a few are just okay -- which probably explains the mixed reviews you'll sometimes see. Personally, it's never been enough to ruin my experience. A quick tip: reservations are highly recommended for groups of four or more, and they'll usually ask ahead of time if there are kids in your party. If I had to nitpick anything, the dipping sauces are pretty simple and not particularly memorable, but nothing is perfect. The restaurant itself is small and dimly lit, but I think that's part of the charm. It feels cozy and homey -- the kind of place where you can sit around the grill with friends and family and just enjoy the moment. I've made a lot of great memories here over the years. Before moving out of state, I used to come here almost every other month with different groups of friends or family. I've included photos from several past visits with this review because they really show how often I've come here over the years. If anything, they're proof of how loyal of a returning customer I've been. ;) no bonuses or perks besides good food lol. After you're done pigging out, you can grab Melona bars or taiyaki ice cream fish sandwiches from the freezer near the front for cheap. Or if you want to extend the night, there's a Baskin-Robbins right next door for dessert. Parking is also pretty easy, and even though the lot gets a little dark at night, the bright lights from Gangnam Ave make it easy to spot. Maybe I'm a little biased because of all the good memories tied to this place, but there's a reason I've been returning for many years -- even before COVID. If you love AYCE KBBQ and want variety, good marinades, and a cozy vibe, Gangnam Ave is absolutely worth checking out.

The service manager Christian was a real piece of work. He was extremely rude when I asked to get my burnt but somehow RAW steak sent back. I cut into my steak right when I got it and noticed the inside was completely raw and cold to the touch while the outside was pretty much charred. The waitress said she would take it back ASAP and was very nice and understanding about the situation. Not sure why, but the service manager named CHRISTIAN was called over. He asked what was wrong with it. I promptly showed him my disgusting, basically still mooing, couple of stitches and it's good to go back out to the field, steak that was supposed to be medium rare. He got extremely upset very quickly and said that according to their "standards", that was in fact medium rare. It absolutely was not. This steak had a a charred outside, cold inside, with a gray ring around the edges about 2mm from the exterior. Mind you, i've ordered a medium rare ribeye from TXRH every time i've been there and it has never looked like this. Medium rare steaks should be a darkish pink and slightly warm edge to edge. I explained to him that this was not in fact a medium rare steak and that it was obviously rushed work and that I would not be eating it. He continued to try and mansplain medium rare steaks to me and i was like yo can you just send it back please, keeping my composure while he was getting increasingly frustrated and was not taking me seriously. I explained to him why each part of the steak looked the way it did and how something can come off the grill burnt on the outside while still raw on the inside, the heat was obviously too high which is what caused the gross gray ring around the nearly purple insides. I explained to him that if they didn't have time to cook a steak properly, I would just order something else off the menu. He kept rolling his eyes and arguing with me over the rawness of my "steak" until he eventually gave in and just took it back. The waitress was extremely nice and made sure I liked the new steak and apologized for the previous steak. CHRISTIAN, the service manager did not come over to my table again or apologize, but he did give me nasty looks from all across the restaurant for the rest of the time I was there.
