It's been so long since I've gone to a Mimi's Cafe. It was a cold, foggy day and I somehow didn't get enough cheese over the holidays, so I dropped in for a solo lunch. Enjoyed a cup of the French onion soup and the five way grilled cheese sandwich with some freshly brewed iced tea. I'd almost forgotten how charming Mimi's is, both inside and out. It's decorated like a little (big!) French cafe ~ adorable. While they weren't particularly busy, the server apologized for the delay in getting over to my table to take my order. No worries since I wasn't in a hurry. The tea was fresh and tasty and my request for simple syrup was met without a blink of an eye. Unfortunately, it seems my order might have sat around for a while since the sandwich was almost cold by the time it reached me (not exactly what you want with a grilled cheese). But it was still delicious. As was the French onion soup, albeit a touch on the too-salty side for my taste ~ and I really like salt! Overall, I'd give this particular visit 3.5 stars but will round up for good measure and the friendly service. read more

I've reached out countless times to the business per their request (as seen here on Yelp). Not one of my emails was answered over the course of the last month. I have updated the review to reflect the company not acknowledging their poor service and lack of accountability and no one reached out. I cannot recommend this place. The fact I had to wait over 45 min to even have a server introduce themself and offer water to my table and the fact after 5 communications to the restaurant there is no accountability or answers...it speaks volumes to them as a company. read more

We arrived at 7:15 AM and no one came out to seat us until 7:25. Our server, while very nice, smelled strongly of cigarettes. My cookie butter muffins was stale and definitely was not fresh baked this morning. My husbands French toast was cold and inedible. He also asked for cheese on his eggs, the cheese was forgotten but when taken back to remedy, they just sprinkled the cheese on top and it was not melted or appetizing. My omelette lacked flavor but was executed well. Lastly, my daughter's fruit had hair in it. I don't care what the waitress says it was not a ribeye and the potatoes, I have no idea what those were. I was looking forward to Mimi's! It's been years since I've tasted their french onion soup and their bran muffins. I was sadly disappointed. The soup was bland and felt a little thick, like they added flour or cornstarch, yuck! I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and was appalled to see what looked like a Pillsbury croissant stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheese, and bacon, falling out of the tiny bread. I ordered four bran muffins to go, and was sadden to find out the recipe changed. It's much sweeter and the bran flavor is very faint. Mimi's WAS a wonderful restaurant years ago, but not anymore. Plus the minimal staff on hand played; host, waiter, server,cashier, and busboy. The two of them lacked happiness and warmth. But I really don't blame them. Management should be ashamed. read more

We went to Mimi's Cafe because we have always had a wonderful experience there. Our waitress was ALLY. She was fantastic. Cheerful, attentive, and pleasant to chat with. The food was great (especially the apple spice muffin and the blueberry muffins!), but it's also nice when the staff is friendly. Definitely will be back. 3/15/2024: Took a friend's Father here for a meal; he rarely goes out eating at restaurants anywhere . . . Therefore, I gave the excuse taking him to Mimi's due to failing celebrating his birthday, i.e., a belated birthday celebration. Nevertheless, the Father argued with me explaining he should pay the bill; however, when he went to the restroom, I paid the restaurant bill which utterly infuriated him~lol! Ordered the "huevos rancheros" and all I asked for was no onion. Unfortunately the two tortillas they used for the meal were so stale. Could not chew them but ate everything off of them but couldn't eat the tortilla shell. The little potato cake thing was full of onions. Sad to say this Mimi's has slipped a lot in the years since I ate their last, at least the breakfast which left a lot to be desired. The place was deserted when I got there at 11:30 and had only a pair of other customers by the time I left. The traditional benedict was OK, barely, in that it was barely warm when it got there and cold a few minutes later. The coffee and service were ok but they don't have hash browns and I didn't care for the one kind of breakfast potato they have, especially as it wasn't hot. read more

She single handedly took care of not only 6-8 booths, but a party of 20 as well. All with a smile on her face and with an optimistic attitude. Two cars in the parking lot should have been the clue (ours was the second). We doubled the number of patrons to a high of four. After a fairly long wait, I walked to the kitchen hallway and yelled "Hello" to get someone to seat us. The server was attentive and congenial, but the only employee visible in the facility, The corn chowder was delicious (as expected), but had to be sent back to be microwaved to bring it up above room temperature, The floors had not been swept and were littered with straw papers and other debris. I think we are seeing the results of a possible change of management and the beginning of the demise of another restaurant building in Folsom. So sad... read more

We stopped here for lunch before heading to our final destination. Mimi's is always inviting and the hostess was charming. We were sat in a comfortable booth and our order was quickly taken. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. Our order came out quickly and perfectly. Hubs enjoyed his roast beef, though he said it reminded him more of stew. He had plenty if beef, a nice array of mushrooms, carrots cooked exactly how he likes them and all onto of a generous pile of mashed potatoes. Our boy had a French Quarter Burger. He could hardly contain himself. All his utmost favorite ingredients and such a huge burger! I ordered the 1/2 chicken ciabatta that came with soup or salad and fries. Our previous experience at Mimi's has been pleasant. Normally, we would go here for brunch and the waiter that we had was always friendly and attentive. The food always came out fast. I don't remember his name, but he's the waiter with tattoos. This review is for this evening we came for dinner-Oct 11,2025. It was around 5:21pm was the most unpleasant experience we had at Mimi's. The place wasn't busy and we got seated right away. The waitress name was Kamila. After she took our orders, the food took a long time to get to our tables. I ordered a coffee and that took a long time to be served and had to ask several times for the creamer. The food was probably ready from the kitchen to be taken to the table, but it's taking a long time for her to bring them out. By the time the food brought to us, the roasted chicken I ordered was getting cold. It was 4 of us. Two orders came out first (the pasta and roasted chicken) then my kids order (pancake sampler and fries and chix tenders) took a long time to get to our table too. Then the weird thing happened was she and the cook started yelling at each other at the kitchen everyone at the dining could hear them arguing. Several customers left coz it took a long time for them to get seated. Online order customers also waited a long time to get their order bagged up. Two guys for online pick up came and waited a while as well. I can understand if the place was busy and short staffed, but it wasn't. We were the only one seated on the other side near the bar. The other younger waiter tall guy long hair was serving the other side and after a while he took a break and only Kamila running the place, but she was stressed out and all over the place. She and the cook kept yelling at the kitchen. So embarassing. It's like you are in the kitchen nightmare show. I had to ask the nice gentleman who cleans the table for to go box and to let Kamila know that we are ready for our check. We couldn't wait to leave. The waitress and cook was unprofesssional with all the yelling. Also, the leftover pancake we brought home has 2 curly hair on them my daughter noticed it as she was eating them. Gross! She didn't finish the order at the restaurant as it came super late and lost appetite with all the bickering of the two staff in the kitchen. The tip we left was for the person who cleans the table and stayed calm while his co workers were being loud and he did help us get to go boxes and get Kamila's attention. Disorganized from the beginning. Didn't seem overly busy, but wait 10 minutes to get on the list. Then the girl ask me what time it was? She didn't have a clock, phone or watch to log the time. We waited another 10 minutes to be seated, the table needed to be wiped down. So the front of staff person sprayed the table down and looked at us and ask do you want me to dry it off? Yes, I replied. We had a party of three but she gave us only valentine specials for two. The hospital food I ate a few months ago tasted better and was fresher than this place. Best thing about our meal were the drinks. I ordered Mimi's Thanksgiving dinner to-go (for 8-10) and couldn't have been happier with the meal. It included everything needed, but the rolls. The turkey was nice and moist, and each of the side dishes were yummy too. Pecan and pumpkin pies tasted homemade. I would definitely order this family meal again . read more
