Pitas Are Us has become mine and my boyfriend's go-to spot for Mediterranean food. The lamb is incredibly flavorful and tender, and it pairs perfectly with the creamy tzatziki. The pita is soft and fresh, and the hummus is smooth and delicious. I also enjoy the fresh veggies on the side. Portions are generous and could easily be shared if you're not super hungry. This time, my boyfriend tried the Philly Fries. While the individual components were good, the overall dish felt a bit average--so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. On the other hand, my favorites are the plates. The gyro plate is great and I also like the falafel which is large, well-seasoned, and definitely worth trying. My boyfriend also really likes the Aioli Burger (I'd skip the double--it's already pretty filling). A small, no-frills food spot with food to match.....and I kinda actually like it that way? (An unpretentious ~Elite~ review, whaaaaat?!). Sure, the crinkle fries could've been crispier and the falafel could've had a tad more flavor, but my meal was still very enjoyable, almost comfort-food-y! Fantastic overall experience. Food is light yet flavorful. Offers a great overall platter on their gyros over rice from their salad being slightly acidic, to their meat being juicy. I didn't get my taziki sauce, I ordered the extra side. I paid for it. I even asked the cashier if the sauce was in the bag before I left. He said yes. Well there was none. Not great. This was the 2nd time we decided to give them another try and the food and service was even worse than the prior visit. The meat was dry, the rice was dry like it had been sitting out all day. I really got the feeling I was bothering them when I went to order; the guy was distracted and when I went to ask for more yogurt sauce (willing to pay for it, which is required) he just ignored me. When we got home we opened out take out containers to discover that they skipped the side salad and hummus and just piled tons of rice in all the compartments. But what I didn't like, and the reason I'm taking two stars off, is the noted uncleanness of the cooks, as others on these reviews have mentioned, and which has been seen by me and members of my party while here. I had asked about catering and they were able to help me with logistics as well as best food options for the crows I was trying to feed. They serve Halal certified food with ~20 Turkish treat options. They have a decent assortment of food along with exotic burgers if you have somebody in your party that is against trying new foods (my dad). There are several canned beverages along with mango lassi, lemonade with chia seeds, and Rosewater with chia seeds. I opted for the free water with cucumber because I'm fancy like that. Here's what we ordered: Kunafa - Messy dessert similar to Baklava but less sugar and a lighter flavor profile. I enjoyed it Falafel Platter - 6 round, crispy and delicious falafels with a touch of spice. They were very tasty. You also get delicious long grain rice with some cream sauce that is out of this world. The salad was pretty bland as well as the hummus. Gyros Platter - Winner!!! The gyro meat was crisp and tender packed full of flavor. You get the same extras as in the falafel platter so I'll skip discussing them. This is my new go to because I want that rice and sauce as well. Extra pita is available for $1.25, but she accepted $1 so I put another $1 in the tip jar. 1. The hot sauce is to die for, perhaps literally if you were to, for example, actually eat a spoonful of it straight. My hubby tried about 1/10 of a spoonful, and hist first reaction was a gag reflex -- it was THAT hot. (And he loves and enjoy it hot, just not as much as I do.) So be cautious, but go for it if you enjoy the heat. 2. The platters come with a LOT of food! Come hungry, leave full (or, over-full). The food looked pretty, tasted great. Both the chicken and the Gyro meat were chock full of flavor. The small salad was decent, and the humus seemed fresh (a dab of hot sauce helped, as without it it seemed a bit under-flavored to me).
