As someone who used to live in Scott's Valley, the site of the original Erik's Deli, finding this gem in Folsom, made today the best day ever! I joined my friend, Linda, here for lunch and met the owner, Carly, who was super friendly. One look at the menu and I immediately knew what I wanted! Their delicious Farmer's Market sandwich and a fountain soda. This sandwich was fantastically made, full of flavor, and brought me back to my Scott's Valley days! I confess to doing a bit of a happy dance with every delicious bite. Erik's has ample seating inside and outside. An added plus, Carly and her crew keep this place super clean! Nicest young woman at the counter who's welcoming, professional, and helpful. The cafe is clean and open, and there's outside seating that is its own little area. 3.75- nice little deli in Folsom! Had no idea where I really was but there were other restaurants in the same strip mall. I got the California crunch! The sandwich was huge and really tasty! I also just had water. The restaurant is nicely decorated. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food. I needed to take home the other half of my Sammy! The sandwich had this sauce called the Secrect goo which was really good. I was told it was like a mayo mustard mix! I would come back if ever in Folsom again- which is rare! If you are in the Folsom area this spot is a must stop for some good sandwiches. I really like their meal deal for $19.79 which has a story behind it when this business actually all started in 1979. I also do love the roast beef sandwich it was really great with Dutch crunch bread. I do love the Sprouts inside the sandwich and of course the meat was actually really tender and juicy and it did not make the bread soggy which is great. I love that the special does come with two half sandwiches where you can choose two different flavors or you can choose a soup and salad but I actually went with their clam chowder. The clam chowder is really chunky and it was great but it was missing some spices inside and it was a little bit too chunky for me I like it medium chunky. The service was really nice and informative and I really find this a great Sandwich Spot to stop by when I'm in the area and if I'm craving for one. The place is open, casually decorated with a painted mural on the wall and photos displaying historic Folsom and Johnny Cash (which I will never understand or agree with). The front server was very friendly and explained the menu which looked like super healthy options including ubiquitous sprouts. I ordered Abbott's Habit which is basically a roast beef sandwich with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and their secret Goo Sauce on a French roll but I opted for lettuce instead of sprouts. The sandwich was very fresh, warm and tasted very good but a little on the bland side. I think they should make their Goo sauce more of a thousand island type dressing. Normally this place is amazing and I love coming here! But dang the two girls today where so disorganized they where having to ask people what their orders where etc and tried to bring me a half Sammy that would have cost me 13.00? I was so confused that I paid that much for a 1/2 and when I said hold on let me grab my receipt she was a bit irritated by that! I'm glad I did that because she could not remember what I paid for. The staff was friendly and they had a bench for anybody waiting for a table or their order. Sprouts Red Onions and Tomatoes are their base sandwich toppings like Jersey Mikes. Ciao Down - 8 - Thick square of ciabatta roll with sprouts piled high Along with red onions and a hot cherry pepper combination. An even amount of chicken breast and salami with a couple slices of Swiss cheese completed the sandwich. Upon first bite you get a lot of ciabatta but then the sprouts and cherry pepper quickly take over. The salami and Swiss cheese bring a light zing to the party. The chicken breast is like the friend at the party that sits in a chair and reads magazines...who invited them? I'd choose a different bread and a different partner meat next time but it was overall tasty. Turkey w/ Pesto - 7 - Dark piece of oat covered sliced wheat bread filled with Turkey and complimented with avocado and finished with sprouts and pesto (vs pesto spread). I found the sandwich pretty plain as I didn't get much from the pesto and I was going that the wheat bread had more flavor. I got most flavor from the sprouts and the avocado which isn't a sandwich at all is it? My wife rated it an 8 or 9 and would order it again. Sprouts is the key to Erik's deli but I LOVED the cherry peppers. My family and I went to Erik's DeliCafe on a hot Sunday afternoon. The sandwiches were amazing! I had the half sandwich and soup combo and the clam chowder was incredibly flavorful (even on a hot day). My sister got the Pilgrims Progress and couldn't say enough praise. And the sandwich was big enough to have half a sandwich for work the next day. We sat inside because it was too warm, but they have a amazing side patio area that's perfect to bring your dog when it's cooler or later in the afternoon shade. All I can say is this spot is my new "go to" for a sandwich and soup lunch. I had the Cali Clasico on Dutch crunch bread and it was soooo delish! I also tried the chicken rice soup and it tasted like homemade! Another plus is they have "Dirty Chips" brand and they are the best chips!!! The scrumptious delicious carrot cake is always perfect as is just about everything I've tried and savored during the past decades. The first time I ever saw a mason jar being used to drink a beverage from was at a Erik's Deli cafe and started to do the same at my home as well. The new Folsom location has the friendliest and nicest of welcome team which is always appreciated. There is a bench I can sit down at while waiting for my meal to be prepared or one of the tables with chairs available as well. I usually ask for a cup so that I can have a cup of water with a fresh slice of lemon while waiting. The sandwiches are generous in portion so that I can sometime s enjoy the second half at a later time. One weekend a while ago I drove all the way to Erik's just to take care of my craving for the Farmers Market sandwich with extra pickles which is greatly appreciated when requested. I was able to enjoy the scrumptious meal while watching a Funtastic Kdrama-Attorney Woo! The cleanliness and care that goes into ensuring the guests are comfortable and well taken care of is greatly appreciated as well!
