We had good service, it's a cute and clean venue, and the food tasted good, but the Caesar salad was a bit overpriced for what it was. $14 for a "full" salad $7 add-on for half of a filleted chicken breast Total: $21 Ultimately it was not enough food and I ate a second dinner at home. I would definitely order this again if it came with more chicken for the $7 up charge! Our table also ordered the chimichurri steak sandwich, wings, and a side of fries. A lot of people rave about their fries if you're a fry connoisseur. Came in for first time to treat mom for Mother's Day dinner. We didn't get to sit outside on the top deck, but we didn't get promptly seated outside on the ground level. They have umbrellas to keep you shaded. Our server was Dallas and he was great! Very personable and helpful with menu items and explaining them. Our group had poke nachos and beet salad for appetizers. Both were excellent and a must try. Our dishes were California burger, truffle burger, turkey blt sandwich and the Ruben. Everyone was happy with each entree we got. Fresh ingredients, the burgers were solid. The crème brûlée was excellent too. The nutmeg on top worked so well with it. Stopped by this spot on our way back from the lake. The burgers were amazing! The price was also very reasonable for the amount of food we all got. I had the Truffle Burger with a Caesar salad. All of their house made dressings were delicious. Not pictured that was the favorites from the table was their Chicken Marsala and the fries were thick cut but crispy. This place is awesome! I love the atmosphere and this old home. We ate outside, it was a beautiful day and they've got a great wraparound deck with outdoor seating and lots of big umbrellas. He also suggested the chimichurri steak sandwich which my fiancé and I shared, as well as the golden beet salad. Everything was super tasty. First time here and on Sutter street. I was meeting my friend here I was a bit late because it took a long time to find a parking spot around here on Friday after 7 pm. The place was actually bigger than I thought with outside area and also has upstairs with cute decor. I ordered skinny jalapeño margarita right when I sat here and it was really good, my friend already had brussel sprouts and tater tots ordered. I don't eat tater tots (my friend liked it) but I loved the brussel sprouts (my friend didn't like it) and some kinda aioli that came with was yummy. We were headed to sutter street steakhouse but passed this place on the way and stopped to look, we loved the prices way better and it was open already vs waiting for the steakhouse to open we decided to try. Ok so all of this area is a nice vibe! I see why folks are just outside. Plank was a nice spot for the large group I was with! Now when you walk up you'll smell the smoker going! The only issue was the menu didn't reflect the smell! I asked what was being smoked and was told pastrami, turkey, and the wings. I was a little disappointed but I persevered. I went with the turkey BLT because I was he'll bent on tasting the smoked turkey. I was disappointed in the sandwich. My turkey meat was cold! I was fully expecting a warm/hot sandwich but I didn't get it. Also my sandwich was dry! No aoli on there like the menu said. Overall the sandwich was a disappointment. Why 4 stars you ask? Because the folks around me food looked really good. Some folks had wings, they were good I tried some. Some folks went with the Ruben, and the steak sandwich both looked really good. Came here to celebrate a birthday for one of our lovely friends. Somebody baked a cake and we were hit with a $25 cake charge. Should have left right there. Food itself was good but not outstanding, service was meh. To add insult to injury, our party of 6 was charged a 20% mandatory gratuity (which included 20% on the cake fee) and tax (which that darn cake fee was taxed also). If the food and service were outstanding, then maybe this would have been sort of OK, but the wait staff seemed snotty and not as helpful as they should have been with these extra charges. Decided to give this place another shot with another party of 6. Per the previous experience we opted to call ahead to make sure we would be able to get seated. We were told that they had room, but had to leave by a certain time which I feel like maybe I'm responsible for that per my previous review. Hmmm I wonder..... Either way we were promptly seated with drink orders placed. The party ordered the French dip, the Fish and Chips, Rock and tots, and one of the scratch mac and cheeses. The rock and tots and the pulled pork machine is essentially the exact same. They taste nearly exactly the same other than having tots. The French dip was pretty blah and the fish and chips were ok....not crispy, soggy. Our French Dip order was also ordered with fries and it came out with a salad. We got it corrected, but they didn't change the bill. Apparently its an uncharge for salad, but you wouldn't know that unless you paid attention to the price off the menu. You know how some places say $20 + $3 for salad or something? Not here. It will just say $23. So if the food you ordered is $20 and they got the order wrong, it might have slid by you that they charged you the uncharted price. Kind of shady. The food overall was decent. Service was good. Cozy environment, but I would still say not a good place for larger parties. read more

I ordered the Rock N Tots and the Chimichurri Steak Sandwich. The Rock N Tots were the highlight of the meal. It is a mixture of jalapeño mac and cheese and BBQ pulled pork topped with their chipotle Plank sauce. I might order the larger portion next time as my main meal. The Chimichurri Steak Sandwich was good, although I felt they were a bit skimpy with the steak. The fries were well seasoned with a nice crisp. They provide complimentary ranch and Plank sauce upon request. I appreciate that it is not one of those places that nickel and dimes you for extra sauce. It was a busy night due to the tree lighting event, but the service was still good. We sat outside. It was cold, but the outdoor heaters made it comfortable enough. My family and I went to visit Historic Folsom on a Saturday to see the holiday decorations and to stroll around, and after walking around for 2 hours, we wanted to find a place to eat dinner. We chose Plank Craft Kitchen & Bar because they seem to offer a good variety of American classics. When we entered we were greeted by the hostess. My 4 year-old son bravely asked to be seated upstairs and we were given a choice of booth or their outdoor balcony with heat lamps. We opted for the balcony because we wanted to see the view of street. The restaurant was rustic and cozy with dim, warm lighting. It was almost a full house! So we appreciate the calm and quiet of the balcony table, since we were the only ones there. The menu offered all the American classics: cheeseburgers, sandwiches (deli/hot), Mac and cheese, and more. We opted for the fried calamari and BBQ boneless wings for our apps. Then we chose chicken marsala, Planksgiving sando (seasonal), and a kids cheeseburger meal. Fried calamari: When it comes to calamari, seasoning is the most important. So no complaints here! Seasoned and the breading was thin, which is in our books - perfect! Our waitress said their breading is made in-house! (10/10) Boneless bbq chicken wings: Breading was a bit tougher here. Some pieces had a thicker dredge and some less. Some pieces had more meat and some had less. But it was sauced! (8/10) Chicken Marsala: The chicken breast wasn't too thick, so it was not still moist. I really liked the mushroom sauce as it gives the chicken more moisture. It really binds the dish together. (7/10) Planksgiving Sando: It was filled with thick cuts of turkey deli meat, a spread of smoky garlicky cheese spread, plenty of lettuce, and cranberry sauce. This was honestly a bit dry, it definitely needed more sauce or cheese. We felt like something was missing. (5/10) Kids Cheeseburger: Our son really enjoyed his cheeseburger and fries. We sat on the outside on the screened in patio which was great and nicely decorated. There are outdoor heaters if you're cold, we had to turn them off. The food was good. We had fish n chips but instead of chips we got tots. I do feel that the tots were a bit overcooked but they were still good. The fish was nicely battered and tasty. The tartar sauce was delicious! We also got a half order Caesar salad that was good. Our friend got fries she didn't want, so we took them, they were good as well. I would say this place is pleasantly good. I intended to go to a different restaurant but I'm glad I came to this one instead! Customer service was good. A lot of tables to sit at inside, outside, and upstairs. Outside seating has water misters. They have a bar inside but I didn't order from it. Highly recommend mushroom portabella burger; has an Asian zing to it, but the flavors blend well. Sweet potato fries and tater tots are nice and crispy. My fried fish was a good size with a crispy outside but I wish the fish inside was more firm (it was on the softer side). Calamari was good with flavorful dipping sauces. I heard the chicken wings are really good; they are smoked. All burgers are made fresh; not previously frozen. Driving back from High hill ranch, my bf and I stopped in Folsom for some shopping, got hungry and made our way to the historic district of Folsom. It was our first time exploring the area and came across Planks! They take reservations on Yelp, however, the time we went al~3:15pm the hostess was kind enough to let us know we didn't have too. But after tasting the food and drinks we understand why you need to make a reservation during peak hours! First of all, walking in the vibe is comforting, the staff are welcoming, the restaurant is immaculate, they have large front windows with so much natural lighting, they have a small bar area, some tables that are hybrid of booth and chairs, and high top tables, and outside area in the front back and rooftop/deck. I ordered the hibisculicious Paloma drink, it was a perfect balanced cocktail! We ordered the tots that were covered with BBQ sauce, macaroni, and shredded beef with scallions, such a delicious combination, and Chef Cynthia's Ceviche made with shrimp that was fully cooked/deveined with tostadas, it had a similar taste of a coctèl de camarones. I personally like heat when I eat Mariscos so I wish it had more of a kick. Overall, we had such a great experience and would definitely be stopping by again when in the area! Highly recommend! The food was absolutely delish, and we had great service. The atmosphere felt like you were dining in an old home. It was so cutely decorated and had such a cozy, homey feel. My husband and I split the spicy chicken mac and cheese and the steak chimichurri sandwich with sweet potato fries. The mac and cheese had SO much flavor and came topped with sliced chicken. We opted to get the Sriracha on the side, and I'm glad we did because it was definitely spicy! The steak sandwich was also delicious. Lunch today was a terrific first visit. Was met at the door by Frankie who was warm and super welcoming - also a wave from John (owners). The place has great seating, both inside and beautiful outdoor, on both floors. The decor is very homey and nostalgic and today, Memorial Day, there was added red, white and blue everywhere. Anna was our server and quickly turned best friend. Very knowledgeable about the menu and offered good advice based on our tastes. She kept close watch-on us, frequently refilling drinks and other requests. We had the Fried Chicken Sando served in a protein bowl with sweet potato fries. Outstanding. I had the Patty Melt, cooked to my perfect medium with two cheeses, perfect grilled onions and excellent sourdough bread. We would order both again. This is a hidden gem in old folsom. Everything we ordered was delicious. From the jalapeno Mac n cheese, buffalo fries, calamari, burrata, the steak salad. Everything was seasoned well and so tasty. The manhattan was nicely crafted and good. My friend love their seasonal honey comb drink. Definitely will return to tried other dishes. We went to the Plank for and family lunch because we always get great food and service there. Today was no exception, in fact, even better which is saying a lot about this place. The appetizers, the crisped brussel sprouts and calamari were excellent. They were prepared really well. The mains of hamburgers and sandwiches were excellent too. The fish and chips I had were sooo good. They were light and crisp which isn't easy to considering other places I have had them which were pretty good also, but these I thought were better for me. I have traveled and dined out a lot over time for work and pleasure, but these service was some of the best I have had. Our server was. Bailee and she was outstanding. The location in historic is the perfect mixture of historic, quaint and modern. The staff greeted us first thing and were so friendly and welcoming. Once seated we checked out the menu which truly has something for everyone. So many options for food and for drink. I am kind of an iced tea snob and even though this was a stormy day, I just wanted an iced tea. It was so good. Refreshing and flavorful. They also have a full selection of soft drinks, cocktails, wine, beer and mocktails! We ordered the cheese curds for an appetizer. Having been to Wisconsin and having cheese curds there, these cheese curds were definitely leveled up and delicious. We then ordered lunch. My daughter ordered the spicy chicken mac and cheese. I ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese. My daughter's lunch was absolutely perfect. A healthy portion of chicken and mac and cheese, two meals worth for sure. The flavor was amazing.
