I love trying new restaurants when I travel and Manderes came up on a search using AI. I wasn't sure what to expect as it was hard to see inside the restaurant from the street. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find what looked and felt like a local upscale pub with a large bar with TVs and various tables scattered around. The menu offers something for everyone, and the portions are generous. I opted to start with the garlic bread with a dipping sauce, followed by the Southwestern chicken salad entree special. The bread crust had garlic baked onto it, and the dipping sauce was huge and flavorful. The Southwestern salad exceeded my expectations. It was huge! The chicken was grilled and blackened and cooked to perfection and served on a bed of fresh lettuce with black beans, chopped onions, and blue cheese with a spicy dressing that was fantastic. The dish was so good that I'm tempted to go back tomorrow night. If you're looking for a casual dining spot with a friendly local vibe and amazing food, Manderes fits the bill! My wife and I glanced at the clock and realized we could make it to Manderes just in time for Happy Hour. We started off with an order (2) Pork Sliders and Brewhouse Fries. The slider was a bit too spicy (it's not THAT spicy) for my wife which meant more for me. The fries were done just the way I like them. The fries come with ketchup as well as cucumber wasabi ranch, which was just a little spicy. My wife stuck with the ketchup. We then decided to split an order of Korean barbecue beef. The meat was thinly sliced and deliciously marinated. The rice and the cucumber salad were very good and the stir fry vegetables were cooked perfectly with just the littlest bit of crunch left in them. Everything was delicious. Our server made sure that our drinks never got below half and our bill was promptly brought out as soon as the take-home box was delivered. The restaurant was very busy, but the staff was really hustling and we were in and out in an hour without feeling rushed. It is a brew house vibe and there were TVs tuned to hockey, NBA basketball and NFL Football. The crowd checked off every demographic. I loved that they were almost completely full, yet it was quiet enough to carry on a conversation. Wow this is a hidden gem! All these years we lived in Folsom we never thought to try this place. After reading great reviews on Yelp we came for dinner! All these years reviews were spot on accurate! Great genuine customer service from servers who are obviously prideful to work here. Great food and definitely generous portions! We had the raved crab cakes which were amazing! Calamari was also crisp and delish. Entrees: Steak Kabob served with 3 skewers and chunky mash, omg sooo filling and steak was tender and veges grilled to perfection. Shrimp and scallops were decent size and super tasty! Steak salad was also very tasty, tender and filling! Fantastic place! A friend brought me here for dinner. Quickly greeted and sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly and make suggestions and offered specials. Ordered the ribs, an order of wings, and fries. The patrons at the bar were super friendly and made the experience awesome as the vibes were there! The food came out and the portions were huge! The ribs were great, fall off the bone and sauced well! The wings were crunchy and battered well and the sauces paired well. The onion rings that came with the ribs were awesome! The locals in this area, love this place. It's highly ranked on both yelp and Google. If you want to be the dinner rush, I recommend coming around 5/ 5:30 pm. Because the place will get packed very quickly and for good reason. The servers were great, even though the food did take a little time to come out they were constantly checking in on us and recommending different food, options and drinks during our meal. When the food came, it was well worth the wait! If you go, make sure you get the crabcake it is one of the best crabcakes I have ever had and it's one of their top menu items! We have been here a bazillion times. Most recently on a Saturday afternoon before the dinner crowd started. The waitresses & waiters & even the owner recognized us too. We usually come to meet up with our besties on this side of town. Their service is excellent you can count on that! They are very accommodating. Because we came before 4 PM we weren't able to order off the dinner menu but their salads here are so delicious. I usually have the steak salad with no bleu cheese. I don't eat my bread & usually hand it over to our friends. My wife's favorite here now is the Asian chicken salad with chicken thighs. It's so tasty & she asked for dressing on the side which was perfect she said. She did however want more dressing & got it! We also love their calamari, shrimp lettuce wraps, Mongolian pork chop, Korean beef & crab cakes. By looking at my pics you can see we have been here on numerous occasions & we live in Elk Grove not in Folsom. So we have ventured out quite a ways across town to eat here yet it's so worth it! Came here for lunch. Party of 2! We came around 12ish and there was only a handful of us in here. So we were seated right away. If you are looking for a cute Aesthetic or fancy place, this is not it. But! if you are looking for a chill, casual, yummy food, good vibes type of place, then, this is it! Our customer service was great. We were going out for my Birthday and I couldn't really find a place I wanted to go to until I saw Menderes on Yelp. It is in a strip mall. Easy parking out front. It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant and bar area was very full but they seated us right away. I asked for a beer recommendation and loved it! There were three of us and we ordered the steak salad (delicious), the squash raviolis (delicious) and the jambalaya special (delicious). The servers were so nice and they all worked so well together that I thought maybe they were two couples that were owners together but when I asked one of them they said, "no they just enjoy their work and are like family." A friend recommended this place to me and my partner since we're new to the area. I thought this was a small sports bar walking in with bar food and I was pleasantly surprised. The food is bomb. I've loved this restaurant for over 20 years so this review is long over due. Last night I had the rosemary and garlic ribeye special with mixed vegetables and red mashed potatoes. It was delicious! My mom had the pork chop and my dad had the ahi tuna with risotto. Everyone was in love with their meal and as always, no complaints. The food always comes out full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We also shared a wedge salad and the chili. Probably the best restaurant chili I have ever had. We ordered 3 bowls to go for Super Bowl Sunday. Angie was our server and she went above and beyond ensuring we were satisfied with our wine choices and was very tentative as well as charming. Well, we are still frequenting Manderes whenever we can make it out to the area, and I'm honestly perplexed how a restaurant can remain so consistent with both service and their dishes. We regularly order the steak risotto, and it's amazing each and every time, without fail. Even the kiddos enjoy the food here and they can be pretty picky with anything that isn't fast food. This was a an ok find. Sort of The person who seated us at about 7 on a Friday night was pleasant and quick. Waiter was fine. Said the right things but was perfunctory. So all was fine. My friend had a glass of white wine and shrimp dinner. She seemed pleased. I had steak kabobs. The vegetables were barely warm. Mushrooms had to be on the dish as it was pre made/skewered. Sad little pineapple pieces that I didn't want were just on the ends. That was good. The peppers were barely warm. The red onion chunks were raw. The huge bowl of sauce was very sweet and uneventful so glad it was on the side. Mashed red potatoes were fine. I had a glass of red - a blend. This meal cost $100. Before any tip. What??!! I was visiting and I would not have expected a $17 glass of just ok wine in the Bay Area. Out here in Folsom??? Insane. I wouldn't go back. The food was def not good enough for that prices. Yes. I know food is more expensive these days. Again. I live in the Bay Area. This was not prepared near well enough to justify a bar fare bill like that. We came here with friends the night before the superbowl and we all thought it was a nice space to hangout and even watch sports as they had multiple large screen televisions. The space was bar/restaurant with high tops and regular tables that only served beer and wine. The menu was eclectic. They had typical bar food, but also steak, Korean bbq, risotto and other items not typically on the same menu. All the dishes were fine and the meats cooked to our liking, but flavors were on par with 3 stars for this humble Yelper. My absolute FAVORITE place to eat hands down! I don't care if I have to wait 2 hours to get seated I know the culinary experience I'm about to have will be transcendent! I've had the juicy angus burger and chicken sandwich which I love because its marinated in a soy ginger sauce, the butternut squash ravioli is like nothing I've ever tried, seriously I never thought to join butternut squash with ravioli, go figure! The bulgogi is the absolute tick tick BOOM bomb! The prime ribeye steak unleashes a symphony of rich flavor and if you elevate it with garlic butter it will leave you spellbound! Every single dessert in that menu will make you cry they are so good. Lemon berry mascarpone cake is so velvety with lemon caramel drizzle and that vanilla bean ice cream, OMG! Did I mention the craft beers on tap? So many to choose from, IPAs, Pale Alw and my favorite Pliny the Elder! This place has it all! We were in the area and stumbled upon this spot on a Saturday evening. Restaurant was full but we were able to get a seat immediately. Seemed like a mix of locals and people driving through. Calamari was a really good sized portion. Looks small from the picture but they were large strips. Came with marinara and wasabi ranch. The wasabi ranch was good, but didn't seem to pair with the calamari that well. Our server was thoughtful and put our daughter's order in the same time as the appetizer. We got the cheese ravioli for her- came with 5 or 6 large raviolis. The sauce was really good. My husband also decided to get cheese ravioli and was a pretty good size. He was satisfied off the portion. We always hate when you only get a few ravioli, but you definitely get a decent portion. They aren't made in house but they didn't taste frozen to us. I ordered the ribs which came with a mango slaw and fries. Fries were on point! Mango slaw was pretty good but it's hard to want that when there are meaty ribs and crispy fries on your plate lol. HUGE portion of ribs! I swear 3 people could share the ribs. I ate about 1/3, but we did get an app too. Was $45, which again could easily share. Our server was really friendly. I did get a little antsy at the end because she was talking to a table for at least 15 minutes while we were clearly finished and our daughter was getting fussy. Fortunately someone came by after a while to offer a box. Again she was friendly and I'm sure it was a table of locals but wish she would have been looking around a bit at her tables more. A couple of weeks ago while up in the Folsom Area we decided to try this restaurant. My daughter had gone there in the past. This is a bar / restaurant kind of in a small strip mall. My wife and I split 2 dishes for lunch. We split their Chicken Lettuce Wraps and a Bulgogi Hoagie served with fries. Both dishes had nice flavor and were perfect to split for 2 people. Definitely a place that the locals go. The staff was friendly and they have a good selection of beers to choose from along with a decent wine selection. Came here for a holiday dinner. The place is small and noisy so prepare for that. The service was awesome. People were on it and staff passing by checked on us, not just our waitress. I like that. The place is busy but super efficient. Everyone there was on the ball. On to the food. We had bruschetta, wedge salads, bread and butter and we shared the rib plate. My only real complaint is with the bruschetta. I know the crostini was toasted because it had nice grill marks, but it wasn't toasted enough because the bread was soggy once the bruschetta was put on top. Crunchy crostini would have been better. It also could have used a tiny pinch of salt, The wedge salad was awesome. Probably one of the best I've ever had. It was dressed perfectly and the bacon was crispy. It was a hit. . We shared the rib plate and that worked out great because the portion was huge. I think it might've been $45 but if splitting the plate it is a bargain. We actually brought home half of that plate of ribs after we both ate off of it. The ribs were sauced, smoky, super flavorful and passed the most important rib test....meat fell right off the bone. The french fries I think were hand cut. I always ask for fries extra crispy but rarely do they come that way. . These fries came super extra crispy and they were so tasty.
