Fajitas platter
Karyn H.

So glad to drop in for dinner at La Esquina. Greeted and promptly seated. They sure cleaned up this place and made it very inviting. Inside and patio seating. So many delicious menu options. Started with guacomole which was super tasty and freshly made. Great chips and salsa too. I went with the waiters reco of the Birria and it was so good! I didn't want it to end. Chicken fajitas were fresh and accompanied by rice beans guacamole and sour crème. Your choice of tortillas. It's family run and they want to please. Can't wait to come again and try some other specialities.

I was craving birria, and based on the reviews I thought it would be so much better, it was just ok. The quesabirria tacos were skimpy on the meat and cheese. Even though I asked for extra cilantro and onions, there were almost none. I prefer when the birria tacos come with cheese, cilantro and onions on top, but these ones were just naked tacos on a plate, they looked pretty sad. The meat that was there and the consomme tasted ok, but it was overpriced, and not good enough to keep me coming back, unfortunately.

Stoped in to try the food under the new ownership and definitely impressed! We were seated right away with a couple tables still open. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The serving size is great and I feel like you do get your moneys worth. Ceviche - bigger portion than I was expecting. Taste was great but I felt like it could use a lime or two Carnitas plate vs pork in green sauce - both were very tasty but I definitely liked the pork in green sauce and will be ordering it again next time!

Nice add to the Folsom restaurant scene. Natoma could be one tequila row if all the New Mexican establishments get liquor licenses. The chicken fajitas were very good and so were the tacos. The Mexican rice and beans were not as flavorful as I like but I am guessing they were not as unhealthy as other establishments. The staff was friendly and they were playing the World Cup games!

Best Mexican restaurant I have been to in a minute! Seating inside and out, friendly staff, and great food! Started with chips, salsa and guac (all fresh and hit the spot). I did the chicken in rajas (chicken in a creamy sauce with poblano peppers, onion, and a little corn) and it was delicious. My husband did a steak and shrimp and I tasted his steak, which was seasoned perfectly! Definitely recommend and a place we will revisit!

Cheese Enchilada, crispy ground beef with rice and beans.

Tried this cute Mexican restaurant today after church and it was delicious. I had the cheese enchilada, crispy ground beef taco with rice and beans. My husband had the chille relleno, beef enchilada with rice and beans they were both very good. We tried the horchata and pinacolada aguas and they were very good and refreshing. The service was great and the restaurant was nice and clean. I definitely recommend and next time I will try the seafood!

Visited this place because we saw it on TikTok and had good yelp reviews and so glad we got to try this place. It is certainly one of the best Mexican restaurants in Folsom and in the area. The food was good. The chile relleno is the best one I've had in all of California in the 3 years I've been living here and eating throughout the state on my weekly travels. The refried beans were good and the rice could be a bit better. Tasted like it had been reheated. Nevertheless the aguas Fresca horchata was delicious and had good flavor. Overall the ambiance is a smaller old bar venue that was transformed into a restaurant. The service was good and will be back.

Huevos Rancheros w house potatoes. You can get rice and beans instead if preferred.

Came in for first time today for breakfast. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Chips and salsa were good! Very clean with nice tables chairs and booths. There is a nice porch with outdoor seating too. We tried the Heuvos rancheros and the tres leches French toast. The huevos had a very good flavor, I was pleasantly surprised just how good. We got corn tortillas and house potatoes with it. The tres leches French toast was super good! Melt in your mouth and came with the tres leches to dip your bites into that was delectable. It wasn't over the top sweet, it was perfect. I even used the tres leches for cream in my coffee and that was good too! The coffee base, what ever they use has a great flavor. We were served by Pedro who was very kind and attentive, checking on us often making sure coffee and salsa was plentiful. He gave us suggestions and answered questions about the menu items. We will definitely be back!

We were meeting a friend and they had gotten a table for us before we arrived, but it wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables available. We're glad we had a chance to try Cantina Pedregal before it changes into Nixtaco- although now having been to both you're going to have delicious food either way. The restaurant is beautiful and whoever did the interior design was so thoughtful with the furniture, colors and ambiance. It's very warm, welcoming and calming inside. A great date spot or place for a meeting. The lunch menu has a good variety of options, and is broken down into smaller bites/appetizers, salads, main plates, and then sides. It's a nice spot to share dishes so you can try more items and share the sides. We ended up getting the chips and salsa ($7) with an extra salsa ($4), Grilled Black Half Chicken ($23), and Fideo Seco ($14). Our friend got the Carne Asada Tacos ($24), Refried Beans ($12), and Red Rice ($10). The sides were shareable and needed, since the entrees came on their own. Our friend added some of the beans, rice and Fideo Seco on their tacos and our chicken did come with some tortillas to make our own tacos or eat on it's own. Everything was high quality and flavorful. The Fideo Seco was surprisingly my favorite item. It is vermicelli pasta with sofrito, chorizo and egg yolk and was very tasty. The chicken was good, but hard to eat without using your hands to get all the meat off the bones- the messy hands didn't seem to fit with the restaurant vibe but we loved the flavor and how tender the chicken was. The salsa was good and the chips were fresh, but it seemed like a lot to charge $4 for the ramekins of salsas. I would pass on chips and salsa next time. Overall it was a great vibe, high quality food and good service. Definitely more of a treat meal or great spot to impress a date or business client. For a regular chill meal it felt a bit expensive, but I think they're going for more upscale.

We ordered drinks my favorite one was called Sol Dorado . I wish they had more Gin drinks I had the only Gin drink called Brissa Del Mar but ,I was not a fan . For food we ordered the Caesar salad , sweet potato which was amazing. For our main dish we ordered the cazuela (Asado De Puerco ) which is pork stew it came with handmade corn tortillas . We made some delicious tacos out of it . I had to get dessert they all sounded so good! We got the Smoked Pumpkin Tres Leches delicious. Overall, it was a different experience the food is a bit different and I'm Mexican BTW but it's from a part in Mexico called Monterey every part in Mexico has their own way of cooking . The menu its self is different you order to share . It's a little on the pricier side but the portions were a good size for sharing . I feel like for the main entree there is not that many options on there wish to see more . Overall we had a great time . Great food and ambiance.
