I live in Folsom and learned about this Mexican restaurant through a friend. I took my family last weekend including my wife who has been gluten free for several years. We were surprised to find most items were gluten free and they even had symbols indicating which ones they were. The food was great. All my family was pleased with the fresh quality which is not easy to find nowadays. I had the quesadillas if that's how it's spelled and a passion fruit margarita. It was fantastic. Thier bar is awesome also. The owner was very personable and gave us some insights about thier restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

The spicy salsa is underwhelming but overall the food is good. Chimichanga looked amazing if you could eat with your eyes it would be 10 out of five. A little expensive but on par for the area. Parking is good. The inside is slightly dark and not inviting but staff was really friendly. 4.5 stars. read more

Wife and I just weren't fans. The atmosphere is a little strange....kinda small but a little fancy. Just wasn't what we are used to. You have to pay $5 for chips and salsa and a fountain soda is another $5. The taco trio with carnitas and chicken was a disappointment. Meat was dry. Not worth $20. Super burrito with carne asada was pretty good. Came on a plate by itself with a knife and fork.....The bill for those 2 plates, chips and salsa + 1 soda was $50. We have plenty of other places we go to often and pay between $25-$30. Pretty safe to say this was a one and done visit for us. read more

La Calle is simply fantastic. I had the shrimp burrito and it was some of the best Mexican food I'd ever had. I have heart issues so normally it's challenging to eat out because im used to a low sodium diet and restaurant food tastes super salty to me, but the food at La Calle did not. I really appreciated the vibrant flavors from their fresh ingredients. So lovely. Also I feel like normally when you order anything with shrimp at a restaurant they give you very few, like maybe 4 or 5 in a salad or burrito. I was happily surprised that every bite I took was loaded with shrimp! Such a nice change of pace to order a seafood dish and receive an ample portion of the seafood! The staff was very warm and friendly, I could definitely feel the family vibe. They checked in on me often. Music was good too, they had some fun Latin music going including Shakira which just happens to be a favorite of mine. There is a lot wrong with this place. 1. They are a Mexican restaurant that charges 3.95 for a small basket of chips and a 3 oz ramekin of salsa. That is pretty ridiculous considering it is about 25 cents worth of chips and 15 cents worth of salsa. When you ask for additional chips or salsa, the owner looks at you like you're standing in an intersection asking cars for spare change. 2. If you order any tacos or burritos, there is an up charge for beef. So if you want street tacos, you pay for the tacos and then pay more for the primary ingredient. Shameful. 3. Prices are ridiculous for what you get. If you plan to order one item and a margarita, expect to be @ $50.00 minimally. 4. Ending on a positive, the flavor was on-point. Unfortunately our meal was served cold and the place was very slow at the time. Another couple came in while we were there and walked out after looking at the prices on the menu. 5. This was my 3rd and final time trying this place. When mentioning the negative impression of La Calle to some close friends, their experience the week prior was almost exactly the same as ours. With so many places to eat in the Folsom area, La Calle needs to make some significant adjustments to their business plan to succeed in the future. We are here last year and the service and food were great! Ate here last week and the service was just OK. They forgot to bring out our chips and salsa that we ordered. Weird that you have to pay for chips and salsa. All of the Mexican restaurants I've been to (and I've been to many) will give you chips and salsa for free! The drink menu does not have prices. Only the beer had prices listed on them. The waitress handed us a card with a QR code to scan if we wanted to see the drink prices... Such an inconvenience. I will have to say, the food was good, but I don't think I will be returning. There are other good Mexican restaurants in the area. read more

Stopped by for lunch on our way home from Tahoe and needed to find a dog friendly place. They have a large outside covered area. They brought out water for our dog without asking! The service was incredible and the food so delicious! My husband and I shared 4 birria tacos and mini chimis, all fried to perfection and so flavorful. We also ordered both cilantro and Mexican rice and pinto and refried beans and all were delicious! Very happy with the ambiance, service and food! Thank you so much for everything! My boyfriend and I decided to stop in for date night since their menu looked amazing! I ordered the Birria Tacos, Elote and Agua Fresca. I'll review below! Birria Tacos~ The corn tortillas were nice and crispy, the birria was definitely meaty, but I personally thought it could use more flavor. They taste amazing in their mouthwatering consome tho, it stole the show! Elote~ I loved their sweet corn and traditional toppings, I just personally thought they added too much lime. Chips & Salsa~ The tortilla chips were a bit hard for my liking, but I liked the salsa! They come complimentary to your table! Agua Fresca~ They only had 1 flavor, I couldn't pronounce, but after trying a sip of my boyfriend's I knew I had to order myself a glass, before I finished his lol! It was one of the best I've had! Our service was slow due to them being short staffed, our hostess's voice sounded hoarse and I had to remind them to bring my to-go cup, but we will be back to try more of their menu items. We were visiting and I picked this restaurant based on the reviews. My carnitas were solid. They were cooked just right with the right amount of crispness. Rice and beans were okay, but not exceptional. You have to pay separate for chips and salsa, which was a first for me. My wife and daughter both got dishes with chicken. My wife said the chicken was a little off. On her second taco she said I can't choke down any more of this. I took a bite and it tasted like kippered herring from a tin can. I'm not sure what they are doing with that chicken. She ate one and a half tacos by that time, so it was too late to ask for something else. My daughter ate all of hers. We paid the bill and left. The service was great. We got back to the hotel just in time for my wife to run to the toilet. Her chicken tacos did not agree with her. My food was fine. My daughter did not get sick, but that chicken was not right. read more

The restaurant is very loud inside. The staff were nice and our waitress was friendly. No chips and salsa are provided to snack on. The food was expensive for what you get. The "ceviche" was overcooked shrimp with a bit of lime juice and pico. Not good. I ordered the. Chargrilled carne asada. Very thin small steak that appeared to be pan seared. I had good expectations of this place but unfortunately didn't meat my expectations. I order basic staples ( street tacos etc. ) meet was a bit dry to be specific the al pastor pretty dry.
