We stopped in to Salsa's Taqueria for lunch. A pretty chill place with multiple tvs televising the World Cup. The place was nicely decorated. Order at the counter with the cashier, pay, then take your number and they will deliver your food to your table. The restaurant isn't that big but decent. Groups of 8+ people will have a problem. They have two unisex restrooms. The service was very friendly and accommodating. I only had a couple of... Street Tacos: Meat (Carne Asada) served with onions, cilantro and salsa (4/5). We were up in Folsom for a baseball tournament, and found this place. Clean place, great chips and salsa bar! We got carne asada burrito and it was so flavorful and tender, best I've had, and I live in an area with a lot of good Mexican food! We ordered our food to go for a group and the waitress said we could take as many chips and salsa containers as we needed. Chips were warm and crisp, and salsa selection was pretty good. Good sized taqueria across the street from Safeway shopping center. They have a good sized menu and some high end tequila and whiskey to extend the night. We came for breakfast so we're a dry group. We ordered at the front counter with a friendly server and were on our way to the salsa bar. They have a good selection of salsas and every salsa we had was flavorful. I mixed their spicy (it wasn't) and some purple one that was pretty and floral. I was happy. The chips were pretty decent but some over-salted. Our breakfast burritos were served after only a few minutes and they brought extra plates to split it. Here's what we thought of the food. Chorizo Breakfast Burrito - 9 - Pretty flavorful but most amazing was the lack of greasiness you usually get with Chorizo. Good flavor throughout Carnitas Breakfast Burrito - 9 - Amazingly flavorful carnitas. I only got it in bunches so if they only had more carnitas and crisped them up a bit it would be a perfect 10. This is a great spot. The meats were flavorful and they have A ROBUST menu! I chose one of my favorites - a carnitas torta and hubby got two taco plate (shrimp and fish) which adds the rice and beans. Everything was great. Good clean restaurant. Salsa bar was well tended and they have the pickled potatoes with carrots and jalapeños! Not everyone does the potatoes- love those! My carnitas were crunchy and the torta was amazing! One note was the beans and rice needed salt - but I think that's much better than over flavored or too salty beans and rice. The textures of both were great! Our order was pretty simple (5 crispy tacos, 3 each of Pollo Asado and 2 Carne Asada). and they still messed up, to the tune of not getting $9.50 worth of the "make it a taco plate" upgrade for two of them. Absolutely the worst bland low quality Mexican food I have had at a taqueria in the last ten years. I ordered a regular carne asada burrito. Beans rice and meat zero flavor. Steak was cheap and I had to spit out all the gristle and fat literally like eating a shoe sole half of it into an empty paper chip holder. The salsa's were terrible full of vinegar and no flavor. My friends carnitas were so salty he could only eat half. I came here a long time ago and it was great now it's rally bad. I give it six months and it will be out of business. The chicken on the nachos was so burnt it resembled jerky, and the chips were stale to the point of being completely inedible. The birria beef was overcooked, chewy, and just as unpleasant. Been going here for 10 years or whenever these former La Fiesta employees decided to open their own place. Some of the highest quality FOOD, not just Mexican food, that you can get in these parts. The first time the rice was packed in and it was basically a rice burrito. I did not enjoy that experience, the second attempt was yesterday when I ordered with veggies and got a veggie burrito for $20. Terrible experiences, I feel like I got ripped off. Won't be back. First time here. We came at about 6:50. One other person was dining. By the time we ordered and sat down there was a line already and a couple groups came in. It's open seating. A small place. Table and chairs and some bar seating tables with stools. We ordered the quesabirria special. It was 3 of them with cosume and pickled onions, fresh onions and cilantro. They have a nice salsa bar with an array of salsa. We tried 4 of them and all were very good! Chips were good, they make them in house. The tacos were amazingly good! The corn tortillas are large and sturdy and hold up to the dipping of the cosume. The cosume was very flavorful. Salsa's located in Folsom, was a completely tasty surprise! They are nestled in a shopping center, and if you don't know that they're there, or you don't know to look for them, you may just pass them by. Diners tip: order the crispy tacos. Every time. Yes, they're that good. The crispy tacos are filled with deliciousness, and if you can eat all of them, then hat tip to you. You can order any of the food items with your choice of meats, ranging from pork, beef, fish, and vegetarian. Both the Carnitas and the asada were pretty tasty, and I could barely finish one. It was damn delicious! I really prefer the filling to the actual tortilla shell that the taco was made from. It's hard to tell based on taste if it is made in house that way, or if it's premade. The nachos while tasty, we're definitely more chips and basic toppings, with very little meat. However, great flavor profile, and really, really tasty. Everyone orders at the counter, and is given a number and you can select where you'd like to sit. The food will be brought to the table. Drinks are self serve. Nice place, good food, and nice people. Let me start by saying I have had lunch and dinner here and it was very good and super solid. However, I was nearby this morning and I saw the open sign and I thought I bet they have a really good breakfast burrito. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon. The burrito was a very good portion size (Large) but unfortunately it was mostly potatoes and beans with cheese. Almost no eggs and pretty skimpy on the bacon. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't what I would prefer in a breakfast burrito, especially since the burrito cost me over $16+ dollars. Staff was courteous and helpful answering my questions and also accommodating my requests for things to be placed on the side. Order was ready quickly and very well packaged when I went to pickup. I have been on the hunt for solid Mexican food since moving to Folsom from the Bay Area. Having lived in San Jose + Oakland spoiled me for what qualifies as bomb ass Mexican cuisine.
