My absolute FAVORITE place to eat hands down! I don't care if I have to wait 2 hours to get seated I know the culinary experience I'm about to have will be transcendent! Yes it's small but that's what makes it what it is, a family like setting! Starting off with a Pliny always kicks off the meal and the fact that our waitress knows what I want before I order, now that's great customer service! There are always awesome specials to choose from so it's hard to really say I have a favorite. From appetizers to dessert this restaurant never EVER disappoints! I've tried the crispy calamari strips, the light but filling shrimp lettuce wraps, perfectly fried zucchini, scrumptious Manderes wings, delectable Oysters Rockefeller and their pan fried house made crab cakes and those beer battered onion rings with buttermilk ranch, I'm pretty sure that covers the appetizers. The blackened seared rare ahi tuna is so tasty! I've had the juicy angus burger and chicken sandwich which I love because its marinated in a soy ginger sauce, the butternut squash ravioli is like nothing I've ever tried, seriously I never thought to join butternut squash with ravioli, go figure! The bulgogi is the absolute tick tick BOOM bomb! The prime ribeye steak unleashes a symphony of rich flavor and if you elevate it with garlic butter it will leave you spellbound! Every single dessert in that menu will make you cry they are so good. Lemon berry mascarpone cake is so velvety with lemon caramel drizzle and that vanilla bean ice cream, OMG! Did I mention the craft beers on tap? So many to choose from, IPAs, Pale Alw and my favorite Pliny the Elder! This place has it all! Came here on a weeknight with my son. We got greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was busy, but not quite full yet as it was still early in the evening. Ambiance was pleasant as they had a pianist that evening playing some familiar songs. We ordered the stuffed portabella mushroom appetizer, a Japanese fish, and the steak salad. The stuffed mushroom and the fish were from their "special" menu. All the food were delicious! Portion sizes were large. Service was excellent! Came here for a holiday dinner. The place is small and noisy so prepare for that. The service was awesome. People were on it and staff passing by checked on us, not just our waitress. I like that. The place is busy but super efficient. Everyone there was on the ball. On to the food. We had bruschetta, wedge salads, bread and butter and we shared the rib plate. My only real complaint is with the bruschetta. I know the crostini was toasted because it had nice grill marks, but it wasn't toasted enough because the bread was soggy once the bruschetta was put on top. Crunchy crostini would have been better. It also could have used a tiny pinch of salt, The wedge salad was awesome. Probably one of the best I've ever had. It was dressed perfectly and the bacon was crispy. It was a hit. . We shared the rib plate and that worked out great because the portion was huge. I think it might've been $45 but if splitting the plate it is a bargain. We actually brought home half of that plate of ribs after we both ate off of it. The ribs were sauced, smoky, super flavorful and passed the most important rib test....meat fell right off the bone. The french fries I think were hand cut. I always ask for fries extra crispy but rarely do they come that way. . These fries came super extra crispy and they were so tasty. Obscene that this place remains open when they cant service their AC. 92 degrees on their own thermostat. Walked in with a newborn & it was hot in the waiting area. Server assured us that the windows were letting the heat in and it was better further into the restaurant. Sat us, still felt warm, fans above seemed to be set to low. Baby is very uncomfortable by the time our food comes out so we just grab the check bail before eating our dinner. On the way out check the thermostat and that's when I saw the 92. Major safety issue for employees (who were soaking wet), kitchen workers, and crazy that they would encourage someone with a little baby to stick around & sell us on the "temp being better" further into the restaurant. read more

We had mixed feelings. The food was delicious and very well made. However, the service was below average, our waitress forgot our drinks and one other thing. We also were kept waiting a long time when we were ready to leave, to the point of feeling frustrated. We were ignored at the end and she did not come to the table for quite a long time. When we arrived, it was very slow, so I can't even explain away why this was. We even made eye contact with her twice to try to signal the desire for her to come to the table. Anyway, beyond all that, it was a nice experience. But the service aspect has soured the place for us personally. The food was amazing and the ribs were some of the best we've had in years. The salmon was alright. The portobello mushroom starter was delicious. Other than that, the overall vibe of the place is relaxed and casual. There are TVs by the bar, and the bar is the main busy area around 5pm. There are high tables in the front right, and regular tables to the left. There's no dress code. Best meal I've had in a long time. This pork chop was juicy and tender; full of flavor and the presentation was lovely. Our server was helpful, cheerful, knowledgeable of the menu items and accommodating of our needs. We were seated quickly and served our drinks right away. The house wines were very good; the white was chilled to perfection and the servings were generous. This is a hidden gem of an establishment. We went on a recommendation and will surely tell others how wonderful it is. Came to Manderes with my boo to celebrate me beating cancer! This place was soooo good! We got the seafood stuffed portobello mushroom as a starter! It had so much flavor and made our mouths water! We went to this place 4 years ago so we decided to try it again. I didn't review it then but saw several reviews saying it was good. We got there for a late lunch and there were a few guys at the bar and a few groups eating. One of the workers just said take a seat where ever you want. The menu was scanned off a sticker on the table. My wife got the steak sandwich and I got the bulgogi hoagie. I asked the server what was famous here and she said the hoagie was and the steak salad. So we were good. She asked if I wanted to add cheese, onions to my hoagie but I said no. I didn't know it came plain. The meat had a good taste but was over powering and defiantly needs some kind of veggi or mushrooms, something to gut the strong Korean marinade. I don't think you should have to pay extra for it either. I couldn't even finish my other sandwich because it was too much. My wife's steak sandwich was ok , nothing really special but hers did have mushrooms in it. We both got onion rings and they came out burnt. I couldn't believe they would serve these to us. I should of complained but I was hungry. Yeah I wasn't impressed with Manderes , kind of disappointed really. Oh well on to another place to eat. read more

We were first to arrive and within minutes twelve plus people arrived. Food... I had the BLT with add on of avocado, with brewhouse fries. Why not a BLAT? First time here and had a great experience. Staff are friendly and efficient. The Bruschetta-- OMGEE, so good. The combo if ingredients makes this a mouthwatering appetizer. Must get. The shrimp salad was dressed in their special sauce and topped with grilled shrimp. Can't go wrong with this dish. The Mandera's wings were fried to a perfect crisp. You can choose mild, medium or hot sauce to go with it. The sauce is not a must as the chicken alone had sufficient flavor. Lastly, my coworker got the Korean Bbq and she was unimpressed by it. I tried a bit of it and must agree that it was lacking in flavor and had a leathery texture to it. This was the only dish we did not enjoy, hence, minus 1 star. This is a quality restaurant hidden in a strip mall disguised as a dive bar. I don't drink so i can't comment on the beer, but the food is excellent. The chicken wings were cooked perfectly with a variety of sauces (blue cheese, ranch, and a bbq sauce). Honestly the wings had good flavor with out the bbq sauce. The pesto salmon risotto was very good with a nice flavor profile. The salmon was also perfectly cooked but the risotto was the star of the dish. Food was wonderful, here's your warning that they don't serve small plates! We definitely over ordered! We got the oysters Rockefeller, wings and special pulled pork (for two of us). Everything was fantastic, even though breaded wings aren't our favorite style it was still well cooked and seasoned. The pulled pork was perfectly smoked, wow. Oysters were cheesy and bacony goodness!! What stood out even more was the amazing service. Pretty sure the owners were working the floor, but if not they have the best servers ever. So attentive, we waited for nothing, table was bussed as we went. They were incredibly nice and welcoming, without a doubt five star worthy service. We have been here a couple of times now and really enjoy it. It has a cool casual vibe and friendly service. On our first visit, Ian was our server and he made us feel right at home. We enjoyed the Asian salads and Mr. S absolutely loved the crabcakes. After Costco shopping, we stopped in here again. Mr. S had the calamari strips which were just mediocre, but I shared my wonderful steak salad with him and that made everything OK. I thought it was too hot to have a glass of wine. I took one sip of the beer that Mr. S ordered, aptly named "Easy Peasy" (EZPZ), and ordered one for myself. Light, tasty and went down easy! We will be regulars here! read more

I haven't been here for a while, so I wasn't surprised to find my last review was from 2012. We went to dinner with friends in Folsom and they reminded us of this place. It actually looks exactly the same as last time I was there. It's kind of an odd layout but plenty of room with different types of tables, low, high top and bar. I had the Italian chicken sandwich and my husband had the burger. Both were great, generous portions and with a choice of four sides. My husband didn't like his fries but I loved my onion rings. The lemon blueberry cake with ice cream for dessert was decadent and so huge that the four of us shared it. Really great! Service was wonderful too. I think we'll be coming back a lot more often! read more

Returned here for our second visit on my birthday earlier this month. My husband chose to have the steak sandwich with onion rings while I tried. Beef Teriyaki Bowl. We both loved our meals. Steak just as tender as when we ate here the first time, portions were large and the service was polite and efficient. I keep telling everyone I know to try Manderes. Fabulous in all respects. It is a casual place with sports (silenced) on TVs, guitars on the walls, clean tables and booths. Fast, friendly and happy servers. I recently took an elderly neighbor and she of course wanted a specific beer that they do not have but our server let her sample 6 others; he was patient and knowledgeable; she was thrilled. The food is superb. I have never had a bad dish and I am sure if I did they would trade it out for something else. Desserts are great as well. The owner is often on site and is very friendly and hospitable. My only complaint is that it is not on the corner near my house but rather a 20 min drive; if I lived closer I would eat there several times a week. read more

Chose Manderes for date night and had a great time. Plenty of parking as it's in a strip mall. Ambiance is comfortably divey, with signed guitars on the wall and the bar being the focal point of the restaurant. I guess it could be considered loud, but it comes with the atmosphere and we didn't mind. Service is friendly & efficient. We tried some hazys on tap that were good. Great beer selection. Food: started with calamari. They came as big ole meaty strips, which we loved. Super crispy and tasty with the ranch and marinara sauces. Steak and risotto - steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the risotto was sinfully rich (eat it fast before the butter/cream solidifies and you'll feel less guilt). The ribeye - slightly overcooked in the center, but seasoned well with a delicious char-grilled flavor. Garlic butter was as expected - garlic in butter. I pretty much dipped everything in it and have no regrets. The food here is simple, but it's done very well, and reasonably priced. We were helped quickly whenever we needed anything. Looking forward to coming back and trying more beers & everything else on the menu. read more
