We had such a wonderful experience here at the Fourk in Folsom. We came in early and grabbed a drink and a charcuterie board, which were both delightful. We also got a wine pairing to go with our meal, which was plenty! I would recommend not getting the first drink if you're doing the wine pairing otherwise you'll be trying to keep up! Each course was introduced and served with Class. We enjoyed every bit of the ambience and the wonderful service provided here. The desert and the main course were my absolute favorites. Fabulous Gem! A must for special occasions. First time, we'll be back! Fourk offers a 4 course fixe meal. There's 3 entrees to choose from. 1st, 2nd course and dessert are the same. Every course was amazing! Chef Charles has a fabulous palate, components work together, salted just to bring out flavors. Exceptional meal w/fair prices. Monthly menu. The beet and pear salad had perfectly cooked beets and a delightful pear vinaigrette, not too vinegary nor overpowering. Salad had wonderful cubed Toma cheese. 2nd course, a unique acorn bisque, seasoned w/ herbs, topped w/ pepitas and creamy foam. For entrees we had rack of lamb chops, perfectly cooked medium rare with pomegranate sauce and pistachios; amazing! Beef tenderloin was cooked perfect, w/ bearnaise. Both came with broccolini and celeriac puree. Dessert was a delicious bread pudding with the works: apples, caramel, chantilly cream and pecans, OH MY! Only items that weren't absolutely perfect, the broccolini could be cooked a tad more. Offer beer in glass bottles, not cans. If you're a big eater, go early and get an appetizer. This was the second time we have dined here and the first under the newer ownership. The food was prepared very well and presented nicely. It feels to me like more of a home style atmosphere. The owner was there that night and spoke to all of us about acquiring the restaurant, the meaning behind the name, and the staff they have. The chef spoke about the menu and products they use. If I were a regular here, I'd probably get tired of the speeches, but that's just part of what this restaurant is about. Everything was tasty and the service moved along at a good pace. It's hard to say enough good things about Fourk. We have been to many dinners at Fourk Folsom over the last few years. Each month's dinner is a unique four course meal. Chef Jesse is a wizard, creating wonderful dinners with lots of locally-sourced food. Even when he uses foods I don't traditionally enjoy like mushrooms and blue cheese, they are delightfully integrated with other elements to create a perfect flavor. In fact, one of my personal favorites is now his mushroom risotto. We also recently hosted a small private event/wedding dinner at Fourk. Shelbie and her team were really easy to work with. Jessie made a custom menu with some of our favorites, and Shelbie created a custom wine pairing. Both were delicious as usual. We were also surprised because they decorated the restaurant for the occasion, made custom poker chips with our names and the date, and found a "Bride" fork, all of which was really thoughtful. Lastly, Fourk is really accommodating of people with dietary restrictions, whether you are vegetarian or have other preferences. They always make it work, and I am grateful for that. My wife and I went to Fourier for her birthday. This was the first time we had been to the restaurant. My wife has several food allergies and they were able to accommodate all of them. The four course menu was fantastic. The service was also excellent. Issac made one of the best Manhattan's I have had and made my wife a cognac old fashioned. The owner, Shelby, was also there providing excellent service. At one point we had Shelby, Issac, and the chef at our table talking about the dinner. What I liked most about the restaurant was the intiment feel and focus on excellent service. They change their menu each month and we plan to be back. read more

The planned four-course meal included Stacked Heirloom Tomatoes, Zucchini & Leek Soup, Beef Tenderloin with Fingerling Potatoes, and finished with Chocolate Lava Cake. Presentation could be elevated just a tad. We also added the Salmon Crostini to start. Service was attentive, though it was clear the servers (not the chef) are new to the team and finding their rhythm--but they handled things nicely. Overall, it was pleasant with a cozy indoor ambiance. Probably not a spot we'd choose as a go-to for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary, but still a nice experience. Okay let's start with the staff~ they were great. Attentive and nice. The food was truly average to poor, starter Cesar Salad had a good dressing so that was ok. The broccoli cheddar soup was puréed so it was like eating baby food! The fillet mignon tasted like it was reheated in a microwave, no sear and over cooked such that it was medium well. Just tastes "mealy" the asparagus was way over done and floppy the garlic mashed potatoes were good. Took the crème brûlée to go to enjoy at home, we got home opened the container it did not have a sugar crust that's usual for crème brûlée it was a dollop of pudding with a few berries on the side. Fourk Folsom is hands down one of our favorite dining experiences. We've been about 10 times now, and it never disappoints. Every month their incredible chef creates a brand-new four-course menu, and it's always creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. It's become our little tradition to go at least once a month just to see what's new. On top of the amazing food, the new owners are so warm and welcoming. They make the whole evening feel comfortable and special--like you're dining with friends who just happen to run a top-notch restaurant. Have to share a great experience I had the other night at Fourk Kitchen in Folsom. I'd been to Fourk several times over a few years under the previous ownership and while it was usually OK, it never rose the level of what I had experienced at the Lincoln location. My last visit was about a year ago and very disappointing, both on the food and service side. I reached out to the owner who advised they were undergoing several changes and I should check back. Cut to Monday, I was there for the Justin Wine dinner and am very happy to report it was a completely different experience. Shelbie (the new owner) and Leslie (bartender/server) were great hosts and the food was imaginative and excellent. My friend was waiting excitedly to eat here, she made us reservations which you must put a credit card on file to hold your reservation at $65 a person. She was looking forward to eating their October menu. We had decided in advance what we both would order and try each others to see whose would be better! The night of our reservation we arrived 15 minutes early, per the reservation requests. We entered first and had a choice of bar or table seating (only table left available was right by door) my friend never saw a place in reservation to pick style of seating. It is a smaller place, nice Fork art (pictures) with funny and clever names. It's dark and has moody lighting. They had it decorated for Halloween with spooky music during happy hour. The first hour of your seating is happy hour with 24% off certain drinks and a few happy hour appetizers. They offer you a splash of wine sample. I was hooked and had a glass! It was definitely a highlight! I also ordered a Tito's martini dirty with olives. My glass was frosty and it tasted so good! The owner, a friendly lady and her four staff come out and introduce themselves, the restaurant's background, other location, they're only open four days a week, menu, and upcoming monthly and some other info. Then the show (food) starts. My friend and I, as well as others started wondering what menu they described wasn't what we saw online when booked, nor was the menu they presented us. Apparently we were there for the Halloween menu. I wish we would've realized sooner and rebooked as we heard other patrons ask about the menu switch with only one option for everyone. We dined in on a Wednesday before Halloween. The staff was dressed up cute in costumes and they have good music playing in restaurant. First an amuse-bouche, squash with parsley in a cute shot glass. Then deconstructed mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and basil with balsamic. The next course homemade long pasta noodles in a cream mushroom? Sauce with untoasted pumpkin seeds on it. It had absolutely no flavor! No salt, no pepper (both to add on your own on bar) but did it get cooked with any? No spice or heat....flat, bland no flavor. I did eat out of cost and alcohol. My friend did not finish. Main course came out, short rib ? An egg size of masked potatoes with peppercorn eyes (mini ghost shaped) a literal egg size serving with lots of dark brown gravy that was so salty we both could hardly swallow it! And don't forget the total of 3 mini Brussel sprouts. Again, I ate mine and she did not. I also drank almost 2 carafes of water they leave at your table/bar. The best part was the dessert Brownie with marshmallow fluff toasted? Was yummy! Now the bill comes and they include their tip per person on it. It's a four-course meal, but the portions are very small. Fortunately, we ordered an appetizer, or we would have left hungry. Someone recommended this place to us, comparing it to The Kitchen. It's not like The Kitchen at all. The presentation was subpar--two ribs on a plate with some maple beans and coleslaw. The beans tasted like they came from a can. The only highlight was the flank steak on crostini. The ribs tasted like it was steamed and not smoked. Maybe it was this month menu, but was not happy with the food selection. The mozzarella salad with sliced peach and glazed balsamic was okay but not very impressive, lacking much effort. Fourk was a memorable experience! My friend and I originally did not know about this restaurant but after seeing it on Instagram, we had to check it out. It did not disappoint at all! It was amazing food and the sweetest staff. They have a warm atmosphere that feels so welcoming like I had been here forever. The manager, Shelbie was a sweetheart and made sure we were taken care of the entire time along with Leslie! Meeting the chef Jesse was a new experience because he walked us through the meal and his idea behind every dish. Last night my husband and I had dinner at the Fourk Kitchen, and we enjoyed every moment! Everything from the appetizers and cocktails to the entrée and dessert were incredibly delicious. Chef Jesse is an amazing chef and even modified my lettuce cup to include chicken instead of seafood. The artichoke bisque soup was so yummy I wanted to take a bath in it :-) and the short ribs were "fork" tender. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I can't say enough positive comments about Shelby, the owner, her sidekick, Leslie or Jesse. Lastly, the restaurant was super clean and well organized - the meal went off without a hitch. I will start off by saying the experience was great. And the staff especially the Manger were extremely professional and welcoming. However, the food could have been a lot better. I see the potential in it but tonight was a bit rough. The "happy hour" before the start of the dining experience was fine. We started off with a small pour of wine, which was great. We did have to ask our server what it was cause he didn't explain it at all. We also tried the charcuterie board and just realized, tonight, what one of my new pet peeves is... when the server explains absolutely nothing about the board I am going to eat. What cheese is this? Is this ham or bologna? Oh, there's nuts here and what is that a cranberry jam? A figure it out for yourself board, nice! The sangria, though, was fantastic, a little thick and not sure what made it a smoothie like texture, but it was good. Our salad came which was fine. The lobster bisk I was really looking forward to, but it was at best luke warm and had random spots of almost ice cold. I just imagined I was eating gazpacho. The deconstructed beef wellington was okay. Pretty rare but I was okay with it but the lack of flavor was the issue. I did see the server bring out salt and pepper to another table which I should've asked for as well. The peppermint cheese cake was just okay as well. When the cook comes out to tell you about the meals and says that he just melted candy canes on top of the cheese cake, well it takes away from the mystery of how the "sausage is made." Over all meh, especially for dishing out $100 per person. If another dish sounds good we might try again. I, however, will look somewhere else first. read more

I've been familiar with Fourk for a while and I was happy to find out that this Folsom location was open, since it is a lot closer for us. I was really excited for our reservation last night. I'll start off by saying that I enjoyed our evening. It's a small place with just one seating, and we arrived a little early for happy hour. We sat at the bar which was comfortable and I loved having a front row seat. I also love the concept of the four course monthly dinner, in a more casual environment. The staff were all friendly and fun. Our night started off well with our happy hour charcuterie plate. We loved the warm flat bread instead of the usual dry crackers, and the cheese, meats and honey were good. They have a good selection of wines by the glass and beers. But the main event, the four course tasting menu, was just not that great. My husband liked the salad, but to me it felt like it tasted like it had been sitting in a cooler for hours. The soup was a chicken pozole, something I like, but I could barely find the hominy. The main course was a sous vide angus beef burger, which my husband ate because I don't eat beef. Now I am a fan of sous vide cooking, but why would you do that to a burger? It was well done. The bun, mushrooms, onions and bacon jam were all nice, but it seems weird to not have a freshly cooked burger. Lucky for me I had an impossible burger which I am guessing they must have made separately. We did enjoy the cheesecake and the raspberry sauce. Here the sous vide seemed to work well. They have two wine pairings available, a regular and reserve, and we shared a reserve pairing, primarily because we wanted the port at the end. The wines were fine, but I'm not sure it was worth the upgrade. I kind of wish we just ordered glasses of port separately and stuck to wine by the glass. We enjoyed ourselves, but for the price, we just didn't think the food lived up to the experience. read more

She definitely needs to improve her communication skills and overall attitude. - The popcorn served as an appetizer was very stale. - Two of the dinner plates were served cold. The other two were somewhat warm. Not sure if this is because they prepared all of the dishes at once (since everyone gets the same plates)...maybe we received some of the dishes that were prepared early. Either way they were notably cold. - Plates were small and we all left hungry. We ended up going to get more food at another restaurant after we left. We were so excited to go to Fourk Folsom. We were there on Saturday night 3/23. The manager and other server are excellent, but we were really disappointed with the food. The salad was homemade mozzarella pearls, cherry tomato halves with romaine (?) lettuce and a balsamic glaze. The cheese and tomatoes were adequate, but the lettuce was shredded and not crisp (think of bagged shredded iceberg) and the entire salad was overdressed with the glaze. The cream of asparagus soup had a good flavor but was served lukewarm. The main course was bolognese over spaghetti with homemade feta. Pasta was cooked properly, though the whole dish was served lukewarm. The dish wasn't warm enough to allow us to incorporate the ice-cold feta allowing it to melt properly. The key lime pie for dessert was a little sweet and drenched in whipped cream and hard toasted coconut. Our wine pairing was good and always served with the appropriate course. After hearing about Fourk from a colleague, I couldn't wait to try it. I didn't realize that they had more than their original location in Lincoln, with a location in Folsom and one also in Reno. I made reservations for my husband and I for a Friday night. if you aren't sure how it works, be sure to read their website before booking your reservation. We arrived right around 5:30 when seating began. Between 5:30 and 6:15 we sat and enjoyed the complementary truffle popcorn and also ordered some beer and wine during happy hour. All of their beverages are 24% off during this happy hour. There were two appetizers on menu - charcuterie board and scallop Crudo. Since we really wanted to enjoy the main menu, we opted against getting an appetizer. But both looked delicious! For the month of August, the prefix menu included an arugula watermelon salad with feta cheese, prosciutto, and a vinaigrette, chicken pozole verde, an angus beef burger with prosciutto, caramelized onions, bacon jam, havarti, and Portabella mushroom on a pretzel bun, and sous vide cheesecake for dessert. Every bite we had was absolutely delicious! The salad was light and refreshing with some of the juiciest watermelon I have ever tasted. We both were absolutely blown away by the chicken pozole as it had a wonderful kick to it. The burger was juicy and satisfying. And dessert rounded everything off nicely with fresh berries and a tart cheesecake. The cost is $54 per person, not including 20% gratuity or any beverages. We also opted for the cheaper of the two wine pairings to go with each course, which was an additional $24 per person. I loved everything about the experience from the communal experience and explanation of their philosophy as well as the menu. This is definitely the perfect spot for a date night. Honestly I would give this pace 3.5 stars. In general, I am a fan of the prix fixe dining since it allows you to try different items on a more affordable price point. The concept of Fourk is to bring fine dining in a casual setting and only specializes in a monthly 4 course meal menu. There are two seatings times for dinner. We arrived on time at 5:30PM but some people were closer to 6PM. Pretty much everyone gets served the same time so didn't start the first course until close to 7:30PM. There is a presentation of the staff as well as background on the Fourk concept (antique fork, fours, etc). It's meant to be a monthly date night concept. During the down time you can order appetizer (charcuterie board or creole shrimp), get drinks off happy hour (24% off price- no mixed drinks, only wine and can beer), and eat the complimentary truffle popcorn. They do offer a sweet wine taster which was a nice touch. They seem to push the drinks and wine pairing quite a bit. You can also buy bottles to go. Now to the meal- the strawberry pickle fennel walnut salad was good. Truthfully tasted the same as the corner bakery summer berry salad so it was not an unique flavor profile but enjoyable. The tortellini soup sounded the least appetizing but had good flavor with bits of chicken. The beef Wellington was supposed to the the star but the beef was under seasoned to put it mildly (needed more salt and pepper), lacked a good sear, and the puff pastry was very pale and soft- lacked the buttery flakey texture. The mushroom sauce was good and there was a generous amount of it. Despite the sauce the dish ate on the bland side. Before dessert they go over the menu for next month and talk about the fork artwork. You get a chance to come up with better names for some of the art. Our dessert was a salty short bread cookie with strawberry and cream- tasted ok, the cookie could have been better with more butter and richer in flavor. The total price for two with an appetizer, meal, and fixed 20% gratuity was a little over 150. Unfortunately, for me this place did not stand out this month as something special. The menu is fixed and diners' have the option of Classic or Reserve wine pairing with food. We enjoyed all of the Classic wine pairings more than the more expensive Reserve option (we are experienced wine drinkers). The food was decent & reminded us of a wedding or planned events. The menu was thoughtful and food was tasteful. It was lacking in quality. It was good but not an exceptional fine dinning experience. We went to Fourk for a date night on 4/5 after my husband found out about it online. We weren't sure what to expect, but we had such a fun experience! A few reviews mentioned that they don't have mixed drinks, but rest assured my friends- they just got their liquor license! The staff was friendly and accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We felt well taken care of. As mentioned in other reviews the menu is prix fixe. We enjoy trying things we normally wouldn't order otherwise, so this was a fun change! I liked a few items better than others, but that is to be expected. Overall, the food was great!
