Went here last night. There is only one seating that starts at 6:30 but you want to get there at least by 6. Everyone receives a 4 course prix fix menu that is delicious, but portions are small and of course you only get what they offer. The atmosphere is casual. The hosts do their best to interact with everyone in the room. The chef was nice but failed to embellish the flavors of his creation. He simply read the menu. An area of growth for them. The menu changes monthly. This month was Cesar salad, lamb lollipops, chicken and sausage dish and sweet potato pie. My favorites were the lollipops and pie and I rarely eat dessert! Finally with 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers, our bill was $200. For this price point I would expect to be a nicer venue, like Ella Dining or even Scott's Seafood. We came here on a Thursday night with a reservation. Reservations are required. We enjoyed the intimate ambience and the service of the restaurant. The restaurant has a prix fixe 4-course menu with optional wine pairing. The menu changes monthly. I found the food to be good, but not great. The dishes that we had were not that creative. We have been to other restaurants with prix fixe menus, and found that the dishes at these other restaurants to be more creative and unique. Our main entrée was steak. The steak was slightly underdone for my taste. I also did not like that the steak and other dishes were served at room temperature - even the dessert, which was a strawberry shortcake was not served warmed. This was our 4th time to visit. Unfortunately it was not as enjoyable as other visits, mostly with the execution of the meal. Here is what went wrong in my opinion. 1. Food was warm at best, but tasty. The asparagus was over cooked. 2. Our last glass of wine with dessert had soap residue left in it. In fact my glass still had water drops in it before the wine was poured in. The Chef replaced our glass , and apologized, but the second glass for my wife still had soap residue in it. When we asked for a new glass again I felt like the host thought we were being to picky about it. More glasses would have helped. Bottom line at $125 person, I expect better. read more

For a 68th birthday celebration we chose to go to Fourk Kitchen in Folsom. Got there at 5:30 for happy hour and ordered flatbread appetizers with goat cheese, fig chili and prosciutto and the second with brie, prosciutto and pear. Appetizers were exquisite. We chose wine pairings with our meal and so pleased we did. Chef Todd prepared each of the four courses exquisitely. Shelby and staff were engaging, informative and accommodating. I drove up from the central coast to celebrate my dear friend's birthday. We had a joyful experience and recommend this veteran owned business to all who enjoy good food. Our only feedback was that the steak needed a bit more salt, other than that we enjoyed everything and they were open to the feedback. This place is an experience. Almost exclusive like. Remember to make online reservations which can fill up and be a couple months before you can get a seat. So check their website. Everyone will get dinner at the same time and usually the four course meal is done around 830 pm. They offer wine and appetizers at an additional cost. The wine pairings to the food are amazing. I enjoyed all the food and different flavors, I didn't drink, but wine would have paired nicely and enhanced all the flavors. The staff introduces themselves which is nice and interacts with customers. It's a different experience, but I think it's a great date for couples and friends. I think I would like to see maybe a side of bread (pieces of baguette?) to go with the meal and maybe some salt and pepper. I absolutely love the Prix Fixe concept as a monthly date night. My husband and I will definitely be back. Fourk is new and I think there are kinks to be worked out. I'm sure they will nail it in a few months. We tasted the first night of their newest offering. The salad was tasty but unoriginal. I would have liked to see some greens (besides micro). The second course was a soup that just needed something. Maybe a crispy wonton on the side. The third, beef course was fantastic. Perfectly cooked. Dessert was good but it was clear that it came right out of the freezer. My husband and I's strawberries were still frozen. We did the wine pairing, and were pleased with each one. Love the concept, but we left feeling overcharged and hungry! The 4 course meal serves up small portions, more of a "sample" of each course. 2 bites of salad, 3 bites of soup, a small portion of boiled meat with nothing on the side, and for our menu the dessert was whipped cream on top of a very salty biscuit (Think KFC). I have never spent $200 on a meal and then had to drive straight to a different restaurant because we we left hungry (and we did exactly that after leaving there). The staff was very nice, but the service was lacking. Wine spilling during the pour, water from the tap with no ice, dishes needing to be handed to the server, drinks being removed before being finished.... we would have expected a little more from an "upscale" restaurant , the price for food, and mandatory 20%"fourking fee". If you are looking to spend a few hundred dollars on dinner and want a flavorful culinary experience, I would try Echo & Rig , Q1227, or Siennas. If you want to spend a few hundred dollars on sampling an "experience" like you would see on " The Lost Kitchen" then try this place, but don't come for the food, and don't come when you are hungry. read more

My husband and I were very excited to try this place and booked the reservation with a deposit. Overall, the food was good, service was good, but it didn't justify the expense of it. We're not big drinkers (or picky eaters), but even with the "discount" of placing the deposit, the bill was much more than either one of us expected. For 2 people, all told it was around $250. We definitely feel like we got "fourk'ed". The soup was good, the appetizer was so so, the main course was good, but I found more fat on my "meat" than actual meat. I liked the dessert, but my husband didn't care for it at all. If you're going, it's for the experience... and now that we've experienced it, we probably won't be going again because the value just isn't there for us. read more

The ambiance is more chic than you expect from the outside. Interesting play on the number 4 and forks which the staff tell you about before you begin dining. The staff and servers gave attentive effort but unfortunately, the food fell short. Cold soup, raw chicken, and marinara from a jar just didn't live up to our expectation for this special birthday dinner. The dessert was the best course, served with fresh berries! She works the dining room with flair, being fun and casual, but also knowledgeable and professional.
