The food was absolutely delicious, got a bread plate which was the perfect combo of soft middle and perfectly uniform crust! Then to finish the dinner we got tiramisu & cheesecake which were both excellent. Reservations: Highly recommended- the restaurant is quite small, so it may be hard to get a table on a busy night. Reservations were easy to make online. Service: Excellent, our server was kind and attentive. Food was brought out timely and we did not feel rushed. Ambiance: The interior of the restaurant is simple, yet classy. The exposed brick on the main wall adds a historic and rustic touch. Minimal decor, but clean and comfortable. There are only 6-7 tables and maybe 10 seats at the bar, so it is an intimate setting and quiet enough for good conversation. DRINKS: I ordered the Pinot Grigio, which was crisp and delicious. Not a particularly generous serving, but quality was good. FOOD: Bruschetta- Four perfect bites of creamy and just sweet enough honey burrata, fuji apple, prosciutto on a grilled ciabatta slice. They were topped with a rich and flavorful balsamic vinegar. These were on the smaller side, but were just the right amount to save room for the incredible pasta. We really enjoyed these. Busiate- We both ordered this pasta dish because the photos looked amazing. My partner ordered it as it comes with the smoked bacon, red onion, fresh mozzarella, vodka sauce. I had it without the bacon and added pan roasted prawns on top. This dish was absolutely divine-- the sauce was creamy, flavorful, with just a hint of spice. The grilled onions added a smokiness and slightly crispy texture. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly, and the shape lent itself very well to carry the sauce. The four prawns were cooked well and really complimented the overall flavors. Affogato with Cherry chip gelato- I'm a total sucker for an Affogato and this one did not disappoint. We started with the Meatballs (very tasty!) and the Arugula salad, which was light, fresh, and brightened with a touch of lemon. Don't skip the bread, specially served straight out of the oven, it's light, warm, and absolutely delicious. The Busiate was the kind of dish where you'll want to soak up every last bit of sauce with that fresh bread. Another restaurant my husband and I got to try thanks to our Amex Resy credit! We've been wanting to try this place for a while with our Resy credit and finally got to today! We came here after dinner right after work and it definitely was worth it. Walking in, the interior has dimmed lighting but I didn't mind because it made the restaurant feel more intimate. We were seated right away since we made a reservation on the Resy app and were given the menus. I've already looked at the menu ahead of time so I knew what I wanted but the waitress let us know about their specials for the day. My husband ended up ordering the NY Steak daily special and I ordered the Strozzapreti with no mushrooms. We also ordered a Bread Plate and Meatballs are our appetizers, and my husband got a red wine to go with his steak and I got a regular Ginger Ale as my drink of choice. Easy to make reservations via Ressy if needed, but when I went for lunch it wasn't too busy. We ordered Bruschetta, Mezi Rigatoni, Penne, and Tiramisu. Bruschetta appetizer was delicious! It wasn't the kind with tomatoes on it, it was way better. I loved the combination of the honey burrata, fuji apple, and prosciutto. I had the Penne as my entree. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the combo of the white sauce and dungeness crab melts in your mouth. We really wanted to like Bella Maci. It's a small, locally owned Italian-themed restaurant in Folsom, and we came in genuinely hoping to support a small mom-and-pop operation. But from the moment we walked in, the experience steadily declined. The first issue was the bait-and-switch: the enticing menu on the website bore little resemblance to the limited menu at the restaurant. What we came for wasn't available. A young waitress took our beverage order and then an older woman named Brooke took over our table of four. After ordering, my partner and I simply switched seats at the same table so she could be closer to the window. When Brooke returned with our food, she seemed flustered and accused us of having "tricked" her by changing seats. She then handed the wrong dishes to the wrong people and, in the process, stepped on my designer shoe--without so much as a glance or an apology. The food didn't redeem the experience. The butter lettuce, Caesar, and arugula salads tasted like prepackaged grocery greens dumped onto a plate, drenched in oil, and topped with a few scattered nuts. The bucatini resembled a slightly modified plate of Chef Boyardee. Even the Prosecco tasted off--oddly tangy, like it had been open too long or stored poorly. We gave Bella Maci a fair shot and left not just disappointed, but baffled. When the co-owner provides curt, chaotic service and can't even offer a simple apology for stepping on a guest's shoe, it's hard to feel welcome--let alone impressed. We have eaten here about 5 times now with both family & friends and brought our baby each and every time and they have been so accommodating and friendly for having us take up another seat with an infant in a car seat. Five stars isn't enough for this place. Everything about our dinner last night was superb from start to finish. The service was phenomenal--attentive without ever being intrusive. The pacing of the meal was flawless. We ordered several appetizers, dinner, and dessert, and every course arrived perfectly timed. They even split plates for my husband and me so we could share without disturbing the beautiful presentation, which is such a thoughtful touch that you don't see everywhere. The food itself was outstanding. The short rib dish was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth insane--rich, tender, and deeply flavorful. I don't usually like polenta because the texture can be bland or mushy, but this polenta was like soft gold--buttery, silky, and perfectly balanced, not soggy at all. The shrimp scampi appetizer was also delightful. The shrimp were so fresh they felt like pillows in your mouth--light, tender, and cooked perfectly. And the lemon mascarpone cheesecake... wow. The gluten-free crust was irresistible--crumbly in the best way and sturdy enough to hold up to the delicate cheesecake. It was far better than an overly soft graham cracker crust. What really made the dessert shine was the balsamic drizzle paired with fresh strawberries--it added the perfect bright contrast. However, the owner said we could wait outdoors, and she would come get us once a counter seat was available, but she never came. We waited for 45 min before going in to check on the wait. My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary there a few days back, our first visit to this fairly new eatery in Folsom. We were very pleased with its looks on the inside, albeit small and somewhat Spartan and most likely the narrowest eating place in town. Reservations were needed. The dining area has 7 or 8 tables with most backing up against a wall. There's also a rather long bar where diners can also eat. It filled up quickly. The food: Appetizer of 2 meatballs and entrees of Salmon & Risotto and Beef Short Ribs with Polenta were good to very good but as indicated above were rather small portions for the money. Note: like the bread, salads were extra. Service was excellent. The experience was very good but Anniversaries and food and drink always go well together. Will we be back? Probably not as there too many other fine restaurants that offer more value. It's a nice addition to Old Folsom though calling it an Italian restaurant seems a stretch as only a few recognizable "Italian" dishes make the menu. read more

This is our new favorite Italian restaurant! The homemade pasta was amazing! My husband had the lasagna and the noodles were paper thin. The sauce had a great balance of acidity, one that I wish I could accomplish. I had the bucatelli and added shrimp. We ordered the sourdough with the basilica and olive oil for dipping. The basalmic had a nice aged sweetness to it. To finish our meal, my husband had sorbet, which he found very refreshing and I had the flour less chocolate torte, which was also excellent.
