man, sutter street steakhouse has always been a bucket list spot for me.. but unpopular opinion here, it wasn't anything truly groundbreaking for me *womp womp*. FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience! read more

Made reservations for my fiancé's b day for Saturday. I love old town Folsom, but on this particular day, it wasn't so inviting, as trucks were driving through up and down blaring loud music, YMCA, and more, with Anerican Flags, immense bright lights, angry faces, TRUMP banners, and banners that read(Deport the ALL). How low, how obnoxious, and the day we booked reservations for my fiancé's birthday, and had guests with us, who had never been there. They made that small gem, look like trash for the that timeframe. It was hard walking into the restaurant right after that moment. We arrived early and had to wait, then followed host to our seats. It's particularly loud inside, people competing over other loud voices. We were greeted by the waitress, extremely sweet. Ordered the brie with a bacon jam and calamari, which was a phenomenal start. I ordered the swordfish which was so soft, it fell apart, with beets. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the stems cooked in with them, some of the stems were the solid, parts, no matter how much you cook, they still are on the sharper side, so left a lot on my plate. My fiancé loved his steak, and lobster dish, our friends loved their dishes as well. Is it worth the price?? I'd say yes, and I'd definitely want to try more of the menu. read more

Even with a reservation, we still had to wait a little bit on a Saturday night to be seated. We recently celebrated a family birthday at Sutter Street Steakhouse and, unfortunately, left disappointed. Our bill for four people was just under $400, and the overall value simply didn't match the price. I ordered the 14 oz. ribeye and was surprised when it arrived. It was only about a half-inch thick and looked more like a flat steak than the thick, well-marbled ribeye I was expecting. For the price, I anticipated a much higher-quality presentation and cut of meat. One thing that stood out throughout the evening was the number of unexpected up-charges. My entrée came with garlic mashed potatoes, and since I'm not a fan of garlic mashed potatoes, I asked the waiter if I could substitute a baked potato. He said, "No problem," but never mentioned there would be an additional $6 charge. It wasn't about the six dollars, it was the lack of transparency. The same thing happened with my beer. I ordered one at the bar before our table was ready for $8. When I moved to the dining table, I assumed it would simply be added to our dinner bill. Instead, I was charged $11 for the beer at got at the bar. We also brought our own birthday cake. I understood there would be a cake-cutting fee of $2 per person for our party of four. However, the bill reflected a $12 charge instead of $8. Again, not a huge amount of money, but it reinforced the feeling that every opportunity for an extra charge was being taken. There wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday" from the staff, which made the fee feel even less justified. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and the service was friendly, but the steaks were average at best. For nearly $400, I expected a dining experience closer to what you'd receive at a premier steakhouse, with exceptional food and presentation. Instead, the meal reminded me of what you could find at many good mid-priced steakhouses for considerably less. Overall, Sutter Street Steakhouse has a pleasant setting, but the value simply wasn't there for us. Between the average steaks and the unexpected charges, I left feeling that the experience didn't justify the $400 price. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

Our steaks were perfectly cooked with a side of mash and a whole head of roasted garlic. The roasted head of garlic was a nice flavorful touch to the potatoes and elevated the meal. Once our table was set we were seated and Jessica (FANTASTIC waitress) let us know of the specials for the evening. Because we were such a large party, I got to try so many dishes on the menu. Every appetizer was delicious except for the calamari which was not quite to my liking. Some sides left me wanting a little more seasoning, but overall they were great. My favorite appetizer was the warm brie & bacon jam, it is an absolute MUST TRY! The onion rings were crispy and flavorful and oysters were fresh and accompanied by 3 sauces. Brussels sprouts were a great texture and paired well with the hot honey and feta. That being said, the salmon and every steak we ordered were cooked to PERFECTION! You cannot go wrong with any of their proteins. The succotash paired with the salmon was herbaceous and a great texture. Steaks were tender and juicy. Cocktails were good. I had a lemon drop with tequila and a huckleberry lemon drop martini which I greatly enjoyed! Overall I would definitely come again and I think this restaurant is a great spot for date nights! Perfect place for a date or any special occasion! I would say this is my favorite place for steak in or near Sacramento. My go to is the 14 oz. Certified U.S.D.A. Prime Rib Eye, cooked medium ($60). It is always cooked to perfection, meat is juicy, and rich in flavor. Huge proportions btw! I can never finish it all in one go, (although my bf happily can) I enjoy eating it again the next day :D. The steaks always come with a side of mashed potatoes and herb compounded butter, which are delicious. They are very generous to give you a whole melt-in-your-mouth garlic for your meal, and if you are a garlic lover, you would love this lol! Service is amazing, servers are always attentive and super kind. We came here for our anniversary, and the servers offered us a chocolate lava cake on the house! It was soo good!! The lava cake was topped with vanilla bean ice cream sitting on a plate drizzled with salted caramel. If you have room for dessert, you should defiantly try it! Note: they have a parking garage under the restaurant, and there is an elevator that leads directly to and from the restaurant. Listen.... I have had many oysters throughout my life, and NONE of them could ever compare to the oysters I had from this restaurant. They are so fresh, they have all the perfect sauces to go with them. Truly I have continued to go back to this restaurant for the oysters alone. Haha! The lobster is really really good as well. It's soft and buttery and everything that I would want from a lobster. I had my first espresso martini here (which is crazy I know) and this place made me wish that I had been ordering espresso martinis since I turned 21. The restaurant was clean and well decorated, I like the wine cellar in the middle of the dinning room. We ordered drinks from the bar before we were seated and all of our drinks were really good. The service was great our waiter Chase was on point the whole night and he took really good care of us. The food was really good, I ordered the 14oz Ribeye medicine rare, which was cooked perfectly. We also ordered a dozen oysters, fried calamari, blackened prawns, and Brussels. They dish that I wouldn't order again is the Brussels, they were ok but nothing to call home about. read more

I ordered a ribeye steak (medium rare cook) for $62 bucks that came with a side of mash. I also ordered a side of potato cakes that was delish but colder than I would have liked. I sat on the patio and the heaters do not provide adequate heat so you will be given blankets. Service was mediocre and the bill for two was ~$200 with wine. If there are not any open spots? You don't get the option of the happy hour menu. The restaurant is tucked in Old Folsom not far from the river. It's very roomy inside without allot of noise. There is also plenty of spacing between the tables so you're not crowded. Obviously, we all got steaks and also lobster tails with a side or two and although we were hungry, it was plenty of food and was cooked to perfection! Even on the off chance he's not there, his counter parts are all just as talented, warm and welcoming! Their blackened shrimp is a must try. I order it every time I go, sometime multiple orders of it (guilty). My girlfriends and I love doing "girl dinner" ordering apps, (order one of all of their potato sides) but my husband and I can always count on them for quality steaks for date night. They keep their menu fresh with fun specials and always bright new seafood dishes. I've gone here countless times and each time the staff makes me feel welcome and special from the moment I walk through the door till the moment I leave. The steaks are not exceptional but they are reliably good and for the area it is one of the better options. Within the Sacramento steakhouse scene you can count on Sutter Street to be above average even if it does not reach the level of some of the high-end steakhouses we have visited elsewhere. On our most recent visit we started with the Washington oyster special which was excellent. They were fresh clean and delicious and we could have easily eaten many more. The wedge salad was below average though and felt more like something you would find at a diner than a steakhouse side. For our mains we had the filet and the New York strip with a blue cheese crust. The filet came out undercooked at first but they corrected it right away without any issue. Both steaks were good and well seasoned but not particularly memorable which is honestly the general theme here in a good way. Overall Sutter Street Steakhouse is dependable. You will always have a good meal excellent service and a lovely warm environment. It is above average for Sacramento and a place we return to often even if it feels average compared to some other steakhouse experiences we've had. read more

The service was really slow so I'm thinking they wanted the guest to relax and enjoy their time here. But no the service is just slow. The very worst part of this experience is they put a party or six on each side of us. I couldn't hear myself think let alone have a nice conversation The food was actually pretty good. However the ambiance is absolutely terrible. Best comparison I can think of is Outback Steakhouse with a little better food at three times the price. If you come here expect slow service, pretty good food, a really unpleasant environment and a very large bill. We may try again in the future but I really cannot recommend this place. read more
