We always love Sutter Street! I have enjoyed four or five dinners here and it has been so good each time. Fantastic high-end food quality but not a stuffy experience at all. Appetizers always on point (tonight we got the calamari and onion rings). I have never had better calamari anywhere. The onion rings were very unique! Nothing like you would normally see. The breading was ultra flaky and thin, which really allowed the sweet onion to shine. Very decadent preparation. For an entree my wife and I both got the NY Strip. It's a generous cut of prime grade meat. Mine was medium rare while her's was medium. We both thought it was delicious and perfectly cooked. I subbed out the mashed potatoes for a full baked potato with all the toppings. So satisfying. Our kids got kid stuff (burger, Mac and cheese) and seemed to enjoy it. The kids mini burgers are super thick patties. Like what you would see on a half pound burger, just smaller diameter. That much beef to bread/cheese is not usually what a kid wants, but he did it at one of them and the fries. My 14yo daughter got the normal Mac and cheese and loved it (so did I, as I finished it.). Very much a new steakhouse staple (decadent Mac and cheese). For dessert we got the lava cake and ice cream. Both good but nothing extraordinary. I must say I am ALWAYS impressed with the service here. They have very knowledgeable and attentive staff. Between the food and the staff, you really are getting a 5 star experience in little old Folsom. I send people to Sutter Street Steakhouse all the time and suggest if you have not been, give it a go! You will not be disappointed. Very good drinks as well. I had a martini and it was perfection with blue cheese olives, a little dirty. Very well made and the perfect temperature with no ducks on the pond :) just how I like it. read more

Great service and some unique steak offerings, some classic steak options but also some like Mole that are very different, but very good, just don't expect it to be like any standard ribeye rub you've had before and certainly is not for everyone. If you've had a mole and liked it, you'll be more apt to enjoy this one, if not, you're taking a chance and that's on you, not the chef. Great bar service before dinner, and staff were very attentive during the entire meal! read more

Absolutely Outstanding -- One of the Best Steakhouses I've Been To! I have eaten at a lot of great steakhouses over the years, and I don't say this lightly: Sutter Street Steakhouse in Folsom is easily one of the better steakhouses I've experienced. I had the ribeye with a lobster tail, baked potato, and mushrooms, and the entire meal was absolutely incredible. The ribeye was tender, juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The lobster tail was excellent, the mushrooms were a perfect complement to the steak, and everything was prepared beautifully. What impressed me just as much as the food was the service. We didn't have reservations and ended up eating at the bar, but that turned out to be a great experience. Our bartender was amazing--attentive, professional, personable, and on top of everything. The service was truly second to none. I've eaten at many excellent steakhouses, and Cowboy Star in San Diego has long been one of my favorites. Sutter Street Steakhouse is right there with it. That is a huge compliment coming from me. For this level of food, service, and overall experience, I thought the price was very reasonable. It's certainly not an inexpensive dinner, but for the quality you receive, it is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend Sutter Street Steakhouse for an anniversary, birthday, date night, special occasion, or simply when you want an exceptional steak. One piece of advice: MAKE RESERVATIONS! We were fortunate to get seats at the bar, but this place gets busy--and after eating here, I completely understand why. Five stars without hesitation. Sutter Street Steakhouse has earned a place on my list of favorite steakhouses, and I will absolutely be back. read more

From what I could tell, Sutter Street Steakhouse offers a polished, upscale dining experience in historic Folsom. We came here for a friend's birthday meal! This was my first experience at a place like this! We enjoyed perfectly cooked calamari as an appetizer, served within minutes of ordering but later, we had a tender petite filet with cheddar potatoes from the special of the day and a delicious 9-ounce prosciutto-wrapped black cod. It came out cold, not warm! Otherwise, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The only major downside this evening was that after ordering, the wait for our main course took over an hour to reach our table. We even saw a few tables arrive after us, get served, eat, and leave before we did. We basically arrived and were seated by 5:30 pm. After ordering our food almost right away, it wasn't until around 7:00 pm that the main course arrived, so after dinner, we left around 8 pm. Yikes. Because of that, I'm not sure I would choose this place again because the service is unpredictable, especially with the higher-than-usual prices, or I'd visit on a Friday evening again unless we had plenty of time to kill. I think our waitress felt bad! She was really sweet, apologetic, and trying to smooth things over, though! Other than that, I would say, make reservations way ahead, as they send a helpful text to confirm you are still coming. Dress up a bit, too! read more

Sutter Street Steakhouse is an incredible place to dine. My wife and I chose this place for our 18th anniversary dinner and we absolutely enjoyed the food. As a high-end restaurant, Sutter Street Steakhouse delivers when it comes to food quality and taste. I had the New York steak and it was cooked exactly to medium with a nice outer crust. The inside of the steak was uniformly pink with the beef being tender and juicy. It was a top notch New York steak. New York steak is my favorite cut and I've had my fair share of them, this one is certainly great. With the steak I chose to go with a baked potato and some asparagus. The baked potato was LOADED cheese, sour cream, and bacon. It was massive maintained a nice fluffy texture. The asparagus came in a pretty large bunch and had a surprising sweet balsamic drizzle that accompanied it. Since I'd consider this a more high end place, the prices do reflect that. Thankfully the portions are large and we had to take some it of home with us. As good as everything was, I did find the food a little on the heavier side. I ordered some horseradish sauce along with my steak and was thankful I did because without it I think everything may have been a bit too rich. If you're looking for a memorable event location, I certainly would recommend Sutter Street Steakhouse. read more

I'm giving this place between 3.5 and 4 stars. Located in the historic Folsom area, parking could be a challenge. The ambiance has a romantic, upscale feel to it. The servers were nice and wished us happy birthday multiple times, which was nice. We got the Broadbent North coast Cabernet, the Stoneleigh Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc as our drinks for the evening. Hubby loved his Cabernet. I loved my sauvignon. For food we ordered the calamari as an appetizer, 6 oz Angus cut fillet and the 12oz prime top loin cut with a side of mashed potatoes, cooked medium rare. The calamari was great - light, not too greasy, accompanied by a basil aioli and a modified marinara sauce, just wonderful! We got some complimentary bread but it wasn't freshly made, so the crust was a little tough. Among our steak options, the Angus cut was beautiful - tender, juicy, melting in the mouth. The top loin cut was more chewy especially on the outside, so we think it was cooked a little more than a medium rare. The center was better. Both portions were quite heavy. The mashed potatoes were decent - creamy and smooth but could have done with more seasoning. What soured things for us a little bit was the end of our meal. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they gave us a bowl of vanilla ice cream with candles to blow on. This is a very sweet sentiment. However, we didn't really ask for it. We were then charged for this "complimentary" dessert in the check. Yes, it was only $7 but why charge us for something that we didn't ask for in the first place! Considering that this is an upscale steakhouse with dishes priced as high as $75, it left a bad taste in my mouth that they can't throw in a free dessert on the house for a celebration. We paid $200 in total for the food and tips, so obviously be prepared for a pricey meal. read more

Overall wonderful fine dining experience. I had the lemon berry cocktail which was good. Not like a super craft cocktail but the price was right so I was okay with that. I had their signature organic chicken dish. It was delicious. I really enjoyed the mushroom sauce with the fingerling potatoes. I also had their organic greens salad and it was great. Free bread and butter, great service and ambiance. I loved the location in historic Folsom. I had a wonderful evening and will be back! For value and quality this was a huge win. I also used my Amex platinum card and resy so my meal was technically covered. I would have come here regardless though! read more

Very cool place and great food. The service is excellent and the ambiance is old school cool. read more

Made a reservation for my partner's birthday and decided to check this place out since it's on the Amex Resy system. Folsom doesn't have many Resy options -- Sutter Street Steakhouse, Iron Horse Tavern at Palladio (not great, not worth it), and Bella Maci (haven't tried yet). Sutter Street ended up being just okay. SERVICE AND AMBIANCE: Our server, Zach H, was great, friendly and attentive the whole time. The ambiance though was questionable. My partner and I are a gay couple, and he had on short shorts (nothing crazy, maybe 5" inseam), nothing that should've warranted attention. But we both noticed a guy at a nearby booth staring us down repeatedly, and it made the evening uncomfortable. I've always thought of Folsom as pretty open minded, so this caught me off guard. Not really a "food" issue, but it definitely affects whether I'd come back since the clientele is part of the overall experience. Mind you we weren't doing anything, I think the "short-shorts" just caught folks off guard? But come on, it's was also 91º that day in Folsom and there was no dress code anyways. FOOD: Oysters (1/2 dozen, $28): DO NOT ORDER THESE. They were TINY, not worth it at all. See my photos! Our server did check on us when they came out, and I got the vibe he knew they were small too. We were being polite and said they "packed a punch", but I honestly felt scammed paying $28 for that half dozen. I actually wish I said something because it was so small. Bruschetta Special (appetizer): Actually good! Just wish it had more basil. My partner thought it was missing something too, he said pepper, I said basil. Blackened Shrimp (appetizer): Recommended by our server and solid, sauce was a bit salty but dipping the bread in it was a great combo. Filet, 12oz: Just okay. I ordered Medium/Rare and "Rare it was" inside (Not bad but okay?). I was warned they do cook their steaks differently but how different could that possible mean? But I've been to a lot of steakhouses, so when I read locals raving about this place on Yelp I got hyped up. It wasn't bad, just "okay," or as GenZ would say, "mid." A truly good filet is Mastro's, or if you want real meat, House of Prime Rib in SF, or Epic Steakhouse. Even Fleming's, and that's a chain, makes a better filet IMHO. Salmon Special (partner's meal): He's not a huge foodie but he enjoyed it which that made me feel better since it's his birthday dinner after all. OVERALL REVIEW: I'm giving Sutter Street Steakhouse 2 stars (maybe 2.5 if Yelp let me). We had a great server, but all in we spent a little under $300 for two people including tip. We were also celebrating my partner's birthday, and while they do offer a free dessert, we upgraded to the banana cheesecake and figured they'd knock something off since we skipped the freebie. I might've missed if our server mentioned that though. Between the ambiance, the tiny oysters, and an okay filet for the price, that's what brought me to this rating. read more

It was just ok... the steak was delicious (which is their signature)... the oysters were good (but not exciting)... the shrimp cocktail was ok... shrimps were hard - I think overcooked. We also had really good mashed potatos. There was a roasted garlic on the plate... there is a reason why those aren't typically served in restaurants... messy and covered in sticky garlic paper... I will never think it is ok to charge $12 for a kids meal with 3 boring chicken strips (that look like they came from Costco) and fries... bread was late to the game... we had to request it when our food came. It was a good sourdough but not the type of bread you request seconds of. We closed out the meal with a lava cake because our little loves them... tasty deep and rich chocolate but no lava spilled out. We arrived at 5:00 there was no line and at first they said it would be 2 hours without a reservation... then they let us sit in the lobby and eat... we were seated within 10 minutes ... but out there we got gnats in the wine and dessert... I didn't see any others but we may have had a hidden bonus - you never know ... it was peaceful out there and the table was set nice! For the price, (around ~60+/plate -some higher and some lower) I've probably had enough this steakhouse to not return... forgot to take a pic of food and dessert... read more

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here! The food was excellent, and the service was attentive, warm, and outstanding. I especially appreciated the separate table seating. So many restaurants now have communal bench-style seating, which can really take away from the experience. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. We'll definitely be back! read more

Made a same day reservation for 7pm on a Sunday for a nice date night and let me tell you that Sutter Street did not disappoint!! Our server, Shane, really blew it out of the water. He was super informative and knowledgeable about everything on the menu, as well as super personable-as someone who also works at a steakhouse, it was SO refreshing. You can always tell when someone appreciates where they work! We ended up getting an appetizer and drinks. I got the filet, and my boyfriend got the New York. This is the best Filet I have ever had. It was melting in my mouth, even my boyfriend was jealous of my steak! We both asked for our steaks rare and the cooks delivered! We like them still "mooing". When my boyfriend mentioned he wanted the seasonal vegetables, Shane told us that they were currently in between their seasonal ones, so he had the cooks whip us up a unique array of sautéed squash and tomatoes-so good!!! At the end of our meal we were recommended espresso martinis-they were delicious... and went well with our dessert :) The owner also checked in with us during our meal and was so nice! The bussers and food runners were sweet and attentive as well. Could not have asked for a better date night and will be back again! Good job Sutter Street and Shane! read more

Sutter Street Steakhouse has always been very consistent with the quality of food and service. Great atmosphere! Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. They are extremely busy on the weekends. Even with a reservation, we still had to wait a little bit on a Saturday night to be seated. First off we arrived 10 minutes early and the place was almost empty but they couldn't seat us so we went to the bar and got completely ignored by the bartender. Before he acknowledged us we got seated at the worst table in the restaurant next to the door, I asked if we could have a booth and the hostess had to go check to see if it was available.. (no option during booking to request anything) she came back and sat us at a booth. We ordered cocktails to find out the lazy bartender couldn't make them because he needed a simple syrup and he was too bust to make it. Never in the last 20+ visits since they opened have we been told this or had an experience like this. read more

I had a fantastic time at Sutter Street Steakhouse. It was a wonderful place to celebrate my mom's birthday. The ambiance is very relaxed with dim lighting and dark colored decor. We went to dinner with a party of 10 and arrived early. We sat in the bar area while we waited for our table to be ready and the service was quick. Once our table was set we were seated and Jessica (FANTASTIC waitress) let us know of the specials for the evening. Because we were such a large party, I got to try so many dishes on the menu. Every appetizer was delicious except for the calamari which was not quite to my liking. Some sides left me wanting a little more seasoning, but overall they were great. My favorite appetizer was the warm brie & bacon jam, it is an absolute MUST TRY! The onion rings were crispy and flavorful and oysters were fresh and accompanied by 3 sauces. Brussels sprouts were a great texture and paired well with the hot honey and feta. That being said, the salmon and every steak we ordered were cooked to PERFECTION! You cannot go wrong with any of their proteins. The succotash paired with the salmon was herbaceous and a great texture. Steaks were tender and juicy. Cocktails were good. I had a lemon drop with tequila and a huckleberry lemon drop martini which I greatly enjoyed! Overall I would definitely come again and I think this restaurant is a great spot for date nights! As for large groups be prepared to pay added gratuity and I do not believe they split checks at dinner. As an added bonus there is a parking garage that has an elevator that will take you to the restaurant! Sutter Street Steakhouse is a must try!! read more

Perfect place for a date or any special occasion! I would say this is my favorite place for steak in or near Sacramento. My go to is the 14 oz. Certified U.S.D.A. Prime Rib Eye, cooked medium ($60). It is always cooked to perfection, meat is juicy, and rich in flavor. Huge proportions btw! I can never finish it all in one go, (although my bf happily can) I enjoy eating it again the next day :D. The steaks always come with a side of mashed potatoes and herb compounded butter, which are delicious. They are very generous to give you a whole melt-in-your-mouth garlic for your meal, and if you are a garlic lover, you would love this lol! Service is amazing, servers are always attentive and super kind. We came here for our anniversary, and the servers offered us a chocolate lava cake on the house! It was soo good!! The lava cake was topped with vanilla bean ice cream sitting on a plate drizzled with salted caramel. If you have room for dessert, you should defiantly try it! Note: they have a parking garage under the restaurant, and there is an elevator that leads directly to and from the restaurant. It might be a bit hard to find esp at night, so if this is your first time here, I would scout it out google maps. read more

man, sutter street steakhouse has always been a bucket list spot for me.. but unpopular opinion here, it wasn't anything truly groundbreaking for me *womp womp*. FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience! read more
