This was our first time eating at the restaurant. It being New Year's Eve, it was extremely busy. Even so, the service was outstanding. Our waitress Jessica is a rock star! She patiently explained the menu and answered all of our questions. We ordered across the menu: a ribeye, a filet, the salmon, and one of the daily specials, scallops. We also ordered the Brie and bacon jam appetizer and one of our party had a Caesar Salad. There were a couple of substitutions: extra spinach instead of mashed potatoes with the salmon and fingerling potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes with the ribeye. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as well. Everything was delicious and prepared exactly as ordered. The proteins were substantial, well worth the price. We tried two desserts, the crème brûlée and the banana cheesecake. They matched the quality of the entrees. Everyone remarked on how great the sourdough bread that was brought to the table was. As the ladies in our party said, you could make a meal out of the bread along with some cheese and wine. We were seated in one of the side rooms, which didn't seem to hinder the service at all. man, sutter street steakhouse has always been a bucket list spot for me.. but unpopular opinion here, it wasn't anything truly groundbreaking for me *womp womp*. FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience! read more

Made reservations for my fiancé's b day for Saturday. I love old town Folsom, but on this particular day, it wasn't so inviting, as trucks were driving through up and down blaring loud music, YMCA, and more, with Anerican Flags, immense bright lights, angry faces, TRUMP banners, and banners that read(Deport the ALL). How low, how obnoxious, and the day we booked reservations for my fiancé's birthday, and had guests with us, who had never been there. They made that small gem, look like trash for the that timeframe. It was hard walking into the restaurant right after that moment. We arrived early and had to wait, then followed host to our seats. It's particularly loud inside, people competing over other loud voices. We were greeted by the waitress, extremely sweet. Ordered the brie with a bacon jam and calamari, which was a phenomenal start. I ordered the swordfish which was so soft, it fell apart, with beets. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the stems cooked in with them, some of the stems were the solid, parts, no matter how much you cook, they still are on the sharper side, so left a lot on my plate. My fiancé loved his steak, and lobster dish, our friends loved their dishes as well. Is it worth the price?? I'd say yes, and I'd definitely want to try more of the menu. read more

Even with a reservation, we still had to wait a little bit on a Saturday night to be seated. We came on a Monday evening and they had a great deal on combo meals. I had the flat iron steak with 3 perfectly cooked shrimp. I subbed fries for the mashed potatoes and they were great. Hubby had the New York steak combo. Both steaks were cooked to a perfect medium rare per our request. The calamari appetizer is plenty to share. I had a fantastic time at Sutter Street Steakhouse. It was a wonderful place to celebrate my mom's birthday. The ambiance is very relaxed with dim lighting and dark colored decor. We went to dinner with a party of 10 and arrived early. We sat in the bar area while we waited for our table to be ready and the service was quick. Once our table was set we were seated and Jessica (FANTASTIC waitress) let us know of the specials for the evening. Because we were such a large party, I got to try so many dishes on the menu. Every appetizer was delicious except for the calamari which was not quite to my liking. Some sides left me wanting a little more seasoning, but overall they were great. My favorite appetizer was the warm brie & bacon jam, it is an absolute MUST TRY! The onion rings were crispy and flavorful and oysters were fresh and accompanied by 3 sauces. Brussels sprouts were a great texture and paired well with the hot honey and feta. That being said, the salmon and every steak we ordered were cooked to PERFECTION! You cannot go wrong with any of their proteins. The succotash paired with the salmon was herbaceous and a great texture. Steaks were tender and juicy. Cocktails were good. Listen.... I have had many oysters throughout my life, and NONE of them could ever compare to the oysters I had from this restaurant. They are so fresh, they have all the perfect sauces to go with them. Truly I have continued to go back to this restaurant for the oysters alone. Haha! The lobster is really really good as well. It's soft and buttery and everything that I would want from a lobster. I had my first espresso martini here (which is crazy I know) and this place made me wish that I had been ordering espresso martinis since I turned 21. The ambiance is nice and calming, I love the warm lighting. The service has been great, funny enough I ended up getting the same server both times I have come and his energy is awesome, I wish I would have gotten his name to leave here. Perfect place for a date or any special occasion! I would say this is my favorite place for steak in or near Sacramento. My go to is the 14 oz. Certified U.S.D.A. Prime Rib Eye, cooked medium ($60). It is always cooked to perfection, meat is juicy, and rich in flavor. Huge proportions btw! I can never finish it all in one go, (although my bf happily can) I enjoy eating it again the next day :D. The steaks always come with a side of mashed potatoes and herb compounded butter, which are delicious. They are very generous to give you a whole melt-in-your-mouth garlic for your meal, and if you are a garlic lover, you would love this lol! Service is amazing, servers are always attentive and super kind. We came here for our anniversary, and the servers offered us a chocolate lava cake on the house! It was soo good!! The lava cake was topped with vanilla bean ice cream sitting on a plate drizzled with salted caramel. If you have room for dessert, you should defiantly try it! Celebrated my sister and brothers birthday at Sutter Street last night and we enjoyed our visit here. The restaurant was clean and well decorated, I like the wine cellar in the middle of the dinning room. We ordered drinks from the bar before we were seated and all of our drinks were really good. The service was great our waiter Chase was on point the whole night and he took really good care of us. The food was really good, I ordered the 14oz Ribeye medicine rare, which was cooked perfectly. Sutter Street Steakhouse is always my first choice, whether it's a special occasion, a random Monday or a night out with the girls. My preference is sitting at the bar. Sal is the absolute best! Whether you're in the mood for a craft cocktail or need a wine pairing recommendation or you just need a strong dirty martini-he has you covered! Even on the off chance he's not there, his counter parts are all just as talented, warm and welcoming! Their blackened shrimp is a must try. I order it every time I go, sometime multiple orders of it (guilty). My girlfriends and I love doing "girl dinner" ordering apps, (order one of all of their potato sides) but my husband and I can always count on them for quality steaks for date night. They keep their menu fresh with fun specials and always bright new seafood dishes. I've gone here countless times and each time the staff makes me feel welcome and special from the moment I walk through the door till the moment I leave. I ordered a ribeye steak (medium rare cook) for $62 bucks that came with a side of mash. I also ordered a side of potato cakes that was delish but colder than I would have liked. I sat on the patio and the heaters do not provide adequate heat so you will be given blankets. Service was mediocre and the bill for two was ~$200 with wine. The service was really slow so I'm thinking they wanted the guest to relax and enjoy their time here. But no the service is just slow. The very worst part of this experience is they put a party or six on each side of us. I couldn't hear myself think let alone have a nice conversation The food was actually pretty good. However the ambiance is absolutely terrible. Best comparison I can think of is Outback Steakhouse with a little better food at three times the price. Anyone that isn't giving this place 5-stars either have unrealistic expectations, or is doing something wrong... we travel all over and eat at the best steakhouses. Service was stellar -- we were appropriately taken care of, but also given a good bit of space when needed. The ambience was admittedly a little noisy, but nothing too bad. The food was very tasty: I had the 12oz filet, my dad the New York steak, my grandpa the brick chicken, and my mom a collection of sides she strung into an entree. They even surprised us with a lava brownie cake topped with ice cream, as well as a birthday card signed by the staff. The steaks are not exceptional but they are reliably good and for the area it is one of the better options. Within the Sacramento steakhouse scene you can count on Sutter Street to be above average even if it does not reach the level of some of the high-end steakhouses we have visited elsewhere. On our most recent visit we started with the Washington oyster special which was excellent. They were fresh clean and delicious and we could have easily eaten many more. The wedge salad was below average though and felt more like something you would find at a diner than a steakhouse side. For our mains we had the filet and the New York strip with a blue cheese crust. The filet came out undercooked at first but they corrected it right away without any issue. Both steaks were good and well seasoned but not particularly memorable which is honestly the general theme here in a good way. Overall Sutter Street Steakhouse is dependable. You will always have a good meal excellent service and a lovely warm environment. It is above average for Sacramento and a place we return to often even if it feels average compared to some other steakhouse experiences we've had. read more

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Sutter Street Steakhouse with several friends. It is their favorite place for date night and after our dinner, it will definitely r on our list. The restaurant is tucked in Old Folsom not far from the river. It's very roomy inside without allot of noise. There is also plenty of spacing between the tables so you're not crowded. Obviously, we all got steaks and also lobster tails with a side or two and although we were hungry, it was plenty of food and was cooked to perfection! I saw this place had such an amazing rating and wanted my mom to have such a special birthday experience. It's pretty upscale casual. They were extremely accommodating on such short notice for our larger party. Service was excellent! It was perfectly on time. Food was excellent and I had a simple glass of red Zinfandel that was great too. We ordered a couple different appetizers. My favorites were the oysters (soo fresh! watch out for the horseradish XD) and the bacon brie & jam. I also enjoyed the onion rings. I got the smaller filet cooked medium and it was excellent! Very delicious. I am sad that this meal doesn't come with vegetables on the side but it does come with this head of garlic that is so great for me as a garlic lover. It does get sort of messy squeezing it out with your hands but worth it for a couple bulbs. The mashed potatoes were good, but nothing crazy special. My girlfriend and I dined at Sutter Street Steakhouse for the fort time, this past Saturday to celebrate my birthday. Reservations were for 7:30 and we arrived a little early, since we were familiar with the parking situation at that time of night. Folsom at this time of night is beautifully lit, and we parked out front and arrived on time. Once at the hostess arrived we checked in and waited a few minutes and then were walked to our table for two on the back patio, overlooking some of the Folsom nightlife. At first where we were at was a little dark, and it made it hard for my girlfriend to see and read her menu. As the light was coming from behind the opposite side of me, casting a shadow over, and blocking out what little light we had. Eventually after being there for maybe 10-15 minutes, someone realized more light was needed out on the patio and turned on the Cafe lights behind us. Overall, a meh experience. The service was great--both the server and busser were friendly, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of. The highlights were the vegetables. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic, and the asparagus had excellent flavor and texture. The filets and prawns were decent, but nothing stood out. Filets were ordered medium rare and came out correctly. The ribeye was a big disappointment. It had no sear, and the flavor made us question the quality of the meat. It was also ordered medium rare and came out that way, but the execution just wasn't there. The lava cake was good and a solid way to end the meal. Had high expectations coming in as a lot say this is the best steakhouse in the area but left thinking this was meh. read more
