Came here on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised that we only waited about 10 minutes for a party of 3 (2 adults and 1 toddler). We were seated on the darker side of the restaurant, while the other side seemed a lot more lively and bright, but it wasn't a big deal. We really enjoyed most of the food! We ordered the ribeye, Dakota chicken, chicken wings, and a side of fries. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the Dakota chicken, but my husband really loved it. The ribeye was delicious, and the rice that came with it was really good as well. The complimentary salad was fresh and tasty, and the bread was nice and fluffy. The beans, however, were probably our least favorite, very bland and lacking flavor. Funny enough, the chicken wings were the highlight of the meal for both of us! They were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Our server was also wonderful, very attentive, friendly, and quick to bring anything we needed. Service definitely made the experience even better. As far as pricing goes, I didn't think it was outrageous, especially since the portions are pretty large. The one thing that felt a little steep was adding the shrimp scampi. I believe it was around $13 for only about 5 shrimp, which seemed pretty pricey. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back if we lived closer! read more

The food was solid, the service was good, and then came the Old Fashioned. $14 for an Old Fashioned... and they served it over crushed ice. I'm sorry, but at that price, I expect a proper large cube slowly melting into my drink--not something that looks like they scooped ice out of a snow cone machine. A $14 Old Fashioned deserves dignity. It deserves respect. It deserves one big, beautiful cube. Crushed ice? Disgraceful. 2 Stars -- Again We went back on July 9, 2026, and immediately noticed a new menu with significant price increases since our last visit only four months ago. For a moment, we thought we had walked into Ruth's Chris! I honestly wanted to leave, but I didn't want to embarrass my other half. She ordered the 16-ounce prime rib dinner for $48 and asked for it as rare as they were willing to serve it. I ordered the smoky bbq bacon Burger for $23 and requested it medium done. The first prime rib they brought out was surprisingly small, extremely fatty, and well done--not even close to what she ordered. My burger was also cooked well done. I ate it because I didn't want to wait for another one, but she sent the prime rib back. The replacement was much better and properly cooked, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. The service was disappointing as well. My water glass sat empty for the last 30 minutes we were there, and nobody offered to refill it. She also tried the mashed potatoes for the first time, and we both thought they were terrible. They had a strange sweet, mayonnaise-like flavor that did not belong in mashed potatoes. Our bill was approximately $100 for one prime rib dinner, one burger, and no drinks other than water. Stopped for dinner. We ordered 2 dinners. One was great. Mine an 8 oz sirloin ordered medium rare was served rare. I tried to eat but just too raw. Told waitress and she very nice. She took to correct, can't back with sdne steak but still raw. Not even warm. She talked to chef and manager after I asked for a new steak...mgr okayed. I then received a new steak but instead of 8 oz was more like 5-6 oz...cook ok. She did serve a new hot baked potato. I know just wasn't my night but after waiting 20+ to finally eat my dinner (in the meantime my son had finished his), they could have offered a dessert. Friday night and the place was packed! The saloon was full, so we waited for a spot in the dining room. After about a ten minute wait, we were seated in a dining room booth. Our server Jenna was quick to explain the specials, and made a few recommendations. She took our orders and got us some drinks and an appetizer. Our entrees came a little later and everything was spot-on. I had the ribeye and my wife had the shrimp. After starting with appetizers and salad, we tried or best to finish our main courses but failed. We took what we couldn't finish home in to-go boxes. Went to try today 2/4/26. Me and husband decided to go with Steak dinner for two! We have the Artichoke dip for appetizers. for entrees we choose New York steak and steak and shrimp scampi and for dessert we choose the fried apple pie. Also had the legendary margarita and wine for my husband. Also ordered calamari for appetizers. Margarita and wine is okay! Calamari- it's okay nothing special Artichoke dip-it's good. Came back again and Madison was our server! She was so cool, like if someone's looking for an actress to play the cool girl server, she would be it. Madison checked on without being over bearing, suggested some really good dishes and took care of everything pretty effortlessly. For dessert she suggested the deep fried apple pie and myself and my manager were impressed. Apple pie is not my go-to dessert, but Madison was right, this in the best dessert! read more

This place is so fun, it's like stepping into a restaurant from my childhood; where decorations are thematic, chairs are comfy, and staff are fun. They have an amazing happy hour menu that goes until 10 Pm. The prime rib tacos were SO amazing, not spicy, so flavorful and the texture of the corn salsa added so much to the whole bite. The garlic fries were fantastic, loaded with chopped garlic (jarred kind), parsley and parm. We also tried the loaded potato skins, they were great but I was pretty full by the time they came so we left a wounded soldier. The tumbleweed onion straws were also fantastic! My friends ordered prime rib, kabobs and the filet mignon and were nice enough to share! The prime rib is served on a sizzling plate with au jus, and was fantastic! The filet was well seasoned and the kabobs were good, although I prefer a little more rare. The appetizer happy hour menu had $6 and $8 items, food and drinks. The howdy beer was $4 and was pretty decent! My friends loved the $6 raspberry lemon drops! Above all of this though, our server was amazing. She worked her butt off for us and really made our visit Amazing. I'm the worst and only caught that her name started with a J, and she'd been there for 20 years. Went there a couple of weeks ago for a dinner with family. Overall the food was good (waiter not very friendly) but they could not prepare prime rib correctly. A family member ordered medium prime rib. What he got was completely brown and well done! He doesn't normally send food back but it was completely inedible. The replacement came back basically the same but it did have a "slight" pink streak in it. Still not good. Is it really that hard for a "steakhouse" to figure out how to cook prime rib? We were there early so they can't say they ran out! We won't be going back when we are craving prime rib. read more

I wish I could remember the name of them, but I can't. One was a blackberry or huckleberry drink, and one was the lemonade but not the Cowboy Lemonade. The food was filling and delicious. It's been a few months since dining at Cattlemen's since there isn't one close by, but the 45 minute ride was worth it tonight. My daughter and I both had the 6 oz. filet mignon special, accompanied with a salad, bread, their beans, and a side, for $29.99. The filet was cooked perfectly and was juicy with a lot of flavor. We chose baked potato for our side, which was also very good, blending easily with the butter and sour cream. The beans were okay and a nice addition to the meal. Their sour dough bread comes nice and hot, and is so good, buttered. It's hard not to eat it all before the meal comes. Our server was wonderful too. He was so efficient and upbeat. He checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. I sure hope they build a Cattlemens in Elk Grove. We were so ready for our meal that we forgot to take pictures! read more

This is the second Cattlemens that I've been to in a week! A group of 5 of us went for a birthday dinner around 5:30pm last night and we were seated within 25 minutes or so. It was very packed as their dinner service and happy hour starts at 4pm during the week. My husband and I got the Steak Dinner Combo for 2 for $80 that included an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. I ordered the Rib Eye with Mixed Veggies. The Rib Eye was cooked well, but the veggies were actually very cold. I don't like sending food back so I powered through and ate them, but it definitely was a bummer. The salad and Artichoke Dip were spot on though, but the Brownie Sundae we ordered for dessert was not good. The brownie was hard and tasted old. My mom also said her Prime Rib was better at the other location. I think the Cattlemens in Dixon is better than this Rancho Cordova location. The entire meal was better in Dixon unfortunately. Our server Bailey was super sweet and attentive though, but I think we'll drive back out to Dixon next time! read more

There is definitely a diffence in the quality/cut of steak between the Cattlemens in Rancho Cordova and the Cattlemens in Roseville. Had a 10 oz filet mignon at the Roseville location back in June. It was excellent!!! Then a friend & I have our birthdays 2 weeks apart and decided to go to Cattlemens. Because of logistics, we went to the Rancho Cordova location on Sunday evening. Again, I ordered the 10 oz filet mignon and baked potatoe. Both were terrible. Also, when I made the reservation, I told the hostess that there would be 2 birthdays and she asked the names. Birthday celebration all around us but nothing at our table. The waiter was attentive all through our meal. In fact, a little too attentive. Didn't think I'd ever say that. Very hyper and asked us something constantly. Not a relaxing dinner, for sure. Then, the check came and we paid. On the Way out, I told the hostess that we DID NOT get our birthday. Hi In the past I have been very impressed with the quality of food and tenderness of the steaks. No so yesterday. We were a party of 6 and all but one of use order various steaks. They seemed to be very tough and had to chew much just to eat it. In the past they would almost melt in your mouth. I wife also order a sweet potato and it tasted plain and dry. I booked the banquet room and lunch buffet for my staff and it was absolutely fantastic. Our server was MJ and he was on it. He made sure we had all we needed and more. I did the banquet lunch menu steak and chicken and it was the right amount of food for lunch time. Lots of leftovers. I'm really disappointed with my experience at Cattlemen's Restaurant -- not because of the food, but because of how poorly my situation was handled. I accidentally left my card at the bar during a previous visit. I called ahead to confirm it was there, and the receptionist told me when I came in, just check in at the front and let them know I was there to pick it up. Simple enough... or so I thought. When I returned about a week later, I told the front desk staff I was there to get my card. The guy said he'd let the manager know. I waited about 5 minutes, then let him know I already had a booth at the bar and asked him to have the manager bring the card there -- I was going to sit down and eat. We finished our meal... and still no card. About 45 minutes had passed. I went back up front and asked again, and was told the manager was busy helping someone else. I explained I had already been waiting 45 minutes just to get my card back. I ended up waiting another 15 minutes before the manager finally came out. The only thing I got was a quick "sorry, I was busy," handed me my card, and that was it. No sense of urgency, no real apology, no effort to make up for making a customer wait an entire hour for something that should've taken a minute. It felt very inconsiderate and dismissive. I understand being busy, but making someone wait that long for their own card -- especially after confirming it was ready for pickup -- is just not good customer service. I've visited the Rancho Cordova location a few times now, and it can be somewhat inconsistent with food and service delivery. Tonight, Cattlemen's was a four star experience! Our steaks came out medium rare as ordered, and the dinner for two deal is always our go-to order. The service was great and may even be the best that I've had at this location! Our server Shea was very attentive, and I noticed that he had the certified trainer title on his name tag. As a former Cattlemen's employee at a different location, certified trainers are recognized for their thorough menu knowledge and steps of service, and Shea was exceptional on all counts. Our party of two was seated next to a large party, which initially worried me, but this location has never been known for noise or rambunctious diners. It's a great place to stop by for a celebratory steak, and I'll continue to recommend Cattlemen's for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion. read more

It's always a delight coming here! Two of us came to celebrate our joint birthdays. Because we're signed up for their emails, we had a $10 off birthday coupon. I had the steak and dungeness crab combo, with a side of roasted vegetables. My dining companion had the prime rib with a side of garlic fries. We each had a lemonade as our beverage and the carrot cake for dessert. Our meals were delicious! The vegetables were fresh and perfect. The steak was cooked exactly as I asked: medium rare. It was perfectly seasoned and didn't need any additional sauces or the like. My friend's prime rib was beautiful and cooked exactly as he liked it. It was served on a sizzling platter too! It came with both au jus and horseradish. The garlic french fries were a bit crispy, so if that's your style then you will love them. This was the first time I had the carrot cake. It was perfect: the cake had wonderful chunks of nuts and raisins with a delicious buttercream icing. We shared it, and still had half the cake to bring home. Because it tends to get quite busy here, my friend and I are in the routine of making a 5:15 reservation on a week night. It starts out quiet, but is generally quite full by the time we leave. The ambience can be a bit wild with every table full! There is plenty of parking at this location. The parking lot is very easy to navigate. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back next year to celebrate our joint birthdays again. read more
