I had a great experience here. We made reservations for 8:30 pm a Saturday evening. Henry's is in the Red Hawk Casino. They didn't seem very busy at this time. Possibly because it was close to closing time. We were actually running 10 minutes late and called to let them know. They told us there is a 30 minute grace period which is amazing, very helpful if something comes up to make you late. Our server was great. He was kind and conversational. I really enjoyed the bread and butter, it was very soft slices of bread like a personal loaf. It was yellow, possibly potato bread?? Not sure. But the butter had seasonings on it that I enjoyed. We ordered the wedge salad and surf and turf to share. Both were a perfect amount of food to share. The wedge comes with two iceberg lettuce pieces so it's actually perfect for two. It had thick bacon pieces, tomatoes, pickled onions, radish, cucumbers and blue cheese dressing. I loved it. Very fresh and the dressing was sweet. The surf and turf had a HUMONGOUS lobster tail and an 8 oz filet mignon. Seriously, I could barely even finish the lobster tail it was sooo big! It was very fresh, not fishy whatsoever, and came with a butter dish and lemon. It was the best lobster tail I've had in a long while. The filet was more rare than medium rare. But we ended up taking it to go because we were so full, so when I warmed it and ate it later it was perfectly medium rare to eat. Overall I loved my dinner at Henry's! The short rib was cooked well, but it was too salty. 3. Scallops and risotto were lacking a lot of flavor. The risotto was cold. 4. Crab cakes were the best item I've tried. The bread service was ok.. we ordered the crab cakes and scallop dish to share as an appetizer.. the crab cakes were really good! Very tasty and crab was delicious! Definately more crabs than stuffing. The scallop dish was ok.. I think it needed more mash potatoes or something. I had their $45 special 3 dish menu.. came with a salad and entree and dessert. Sorry forgot what the salad was called but it was a little too vinegary for me. I didn't like it. The entree I picked was the beef pappardelle pasta dish... it lacked beef .. it tastes a lot like spaghetti sauce with fettuccini pasta noodles instead of fat pappardelle pasta .. The service is always great! I just get tired of asking for a medium rare filet and having to send it back when it comes out well done. The cooks should be on top of it! Our latest meal, my husband was just too hungry to send his well done steak back because we were with friends and everyone else had perfectly cooked steaks. It really shouldn't be hit and miss. The French onion soup was too salty. The side veggies and "crispy onions" were too soggy and lacked crunch and flavor. I barely touched my plate and I didn't want to take the leftovers upstairs to my hotel room. Even the complimentary bread was extremely dry and fell apart when I grabbed it. The only two things that were edible was the mashed potatoes and the calamari. Other than that - I would NOT suggest this place to anyone that's craving great quality of food for this price. Go next door to Pearls Chinese restaurant for a better experience. They say they offer anniversary celebrations here but they do not. I first hand experienced that last night. They do not try to make it special so I would suggest going elsewhere to spend that special day at. She rarely came over to check up on us and at one point she was no where to be found and we had to ask the gentlemen who came over to refill our waters/bread to see if he can get our waitress for us. Half of us ordered the new lamb rack on the menu and the other half ordered the filet mignon florentine. Those who ordered the lamb, they were not asked how they liked it cooked so when it came out, it was definitely more on the rare side and less cooked than how they wanted it to be. They recently went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and ordered the lamb there as well and they were asked how they liked it cooked so not sure why at Henry's they were not asked. Fortunately they did take it back and cooked it some more but it was still not cooked to the right temperature when it was brought back. My bf and I ordered the filet mignon. Now we were actually asked how we wanted it to be cooked. Mine was medium while his were medium rare. When it came out, they definitely had ours switched because mine came out way more rare compared to his plate. We switched our plates with each other and enjoyed our food. When it was almost time to leave, we asked for a box. Our waitress said she would come back with a box. Well, she never did. Ordered the wedge and prime rib that came with two sides (Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes). First the wedge was really good. Blue cheese was delicious and the candied pecans with chunk bacon was great! The prime rib came (16 oz.). It was seasoned well and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The cap on the prime rib was large and very tender. The sauces were great and rich. The mashed potatoes were creamy and hit the spot. Lastly the only bite I had (was full) was tasty. Service by I think Kaitlyn was awesome. We each ordered the 10-oz cut Sirloin & Mushrooms ($38). One cooked in medium and the other medium well. I preferred the MW cook. The medium was a bit too pink for me even though I've always ordered Medium in other establishments before and they weren't this pink. The steaks were juicy, tender and lean in red wine reduction. The portions were generous with a good amount of mushrooms. The mashed potatoes were good too. Tyler was attentive to our table and we appreciated his friendliness too. Even though this place is pretty expensive the food was amazing, I usually don't like steaks that much but I wanted to try it and it was delicious and cooked perfectly, the service was fast and friendly and the way the restaurant looks was really nice, it was new to me that you could see the chefs cook but also entertaining, I got to see how the food was made and how attentive they are. So Red Hawk reached out to us for my hubby's birthday. They recommended Henry's and made the reservation. The restaurant has an open kitchen but it kinda reminds me of a 1920's speakeasy. Maybe it's the music? We were greeted with water and warm fresh bread. Our server, Nick, came around and offered suggestions. I ended having the French onion soup and filet mignon Florentine. The kitchen is open, and I'll admit I geeked out a bit kind of wishing they'd have a Gordon Ramsey this is F'ing raw moment, but no luck. Drinks came out very fast and were refilled promptly. My glass never emptied fully. Our waiter Nick was attentive and checked in on us just the right amount so as not to be over the top. He surprised me by asking how our food was when I didn't have a mouth full. Crazy rare when we are out to eat. Food wise, the Tuna Poke was great, very fresh, very tasty! French Onion soup was on point. My wife ordered the filet mignon, and omg, talk about a melt in your mouth cut. She shared exactly 1 tiny bite and phenomenal! I had the 10oz prime sirloin, was cooked beautifully, and the snap peas that are served with it brought me back to my childhood. Personally, I like th food and service much better. Henry's is located in the lower level of the casino which is smoke-free, across from Koto the buffet and right next to the Chinese bistro. On a double date night out, my husband and I and another couple made reservations at Henry's steakhouse. Our reservation was for 7:45 PM on a Saturday night. The service was very friendly, albeit extremely slow. We had a reservation to do go karting at 9:30 PM and towards the end of our meal we were rushing and would have missed our go karting had we not asked for the check when our meal arrived. But the real reason for the poor rating is that for the price point, this is not a top-notch steakhouse that you would expect. We all started our meals with a cup of French onion soup, which was decent. Both myself and the other wife ordered the filet mignon while our husbands ordered the ribeye. All four of us ordered our steaks to be cooked the exact same way, medium rare, but they all came out well-done. As for the side dishes, they lacked any real flavor and were lukewarm temperature at best. Again, like I said, if the price point had been significantly lower, I may have given this place a better rating. 8 of us were celebrating my father-in-law's 80th birthday. We had reservations in one of the side rooms for 5 pm. Ill say everyone we interacted with were great and our waitress did a good job taking care of us (we weren't that demanding). The main issue here is the food. 2 of the couples shared wedge salads, they all seemed to like it, looked pretty basic. I had the French onion soup and found it to be good. The reason for the 1 star had to do with what we would expect to be the main attraction, the main courses. Being an upper scale steakhouse you would expect near perfection. I'll go couple by couple: 1st couple, guest of honor, each got the sirloin steak. Both like med-well however the steak came out more well done. 2nd couple shared a NY strip. They said it was over cooked but seemed to generally be ok with it. 3rd couple, one had the ribeye and the other the scallops. They didnt say one way or the other if it was good, not sure the one with the scallops knows the difference but they appeared to be overcooked as well. 4th couple, my wife and I, I had the sirloin and my wife had the salmon. I can only describe my plate as sloppy. Looking at some of the photos shared, it seemed it was thrown together worse than what the photos showed. I ordered my steak med-rare, and typically it will come out more on the rare side (the theory you can cook it more but you cant "uncook" it). My steak was pushing med-well. I thought maybe my plate was switched with my in-laws, but I had added the bearnaise (however what they considered bearnaise was anything but what I know to be bearnaise, wasn't worth the extra $10). While my meal was at least edible, my wife's was anything but. The salmon was way over cooked and whatever it was topped with looked like it had dried up sitting under a heat lamp. The risotto needed about another 10 mins, the rice was still crunchy. She was too nice to say anything and while I myself am not one to send food back, I would have sent that back in a heart beat. My wife did try her sister's risotto w/ the scallops and she said it was cooked better than hers. Trying to wrap my head around why all of our meals were over cooked, the only thing I can think of is that maybe the risotto was causing the delays for the food to come out and it all literally died on the pass. If that was the case, then send out the food that was ready, serve the salmon w/o the risotto and explain that it needed a few more minutes and they will bring it out. That would have been 100x better than what transpired (and I am assuming that is what happened, but I really don't know). The restaurant wasn't busy and we were not demanding at all. This place has been open for years, you'd think they would know how to properly serve an 8 top (7 total meals since two split). They allowed us to bring a cake but charged us to cut it, fine whatever but seems a little tacky when you are already spending more than your average meal. I came here with my family around when they first opened years ago and was blown away. This time, many years later, I was left very disappointed. The steak from cattleman's down the highway is prepared better than what we were all served. For the money spent, I much rather go to Sutter St Steakhouse in Folsom, and their prices may even be less. Based on other reviews, this doesn't seem to be a one off. We had a party of six for dinner on a busy Sunday evening and it could not have been better. The service from the check in to the server and crew was quick and very accommodating. We ordered a variety of entrees from lobster to steaks and prime rib and they were all very satifying and cooked well. We must have spent at least two hours dabbling over our meals and wine and the evening was a huge success thanks to the fine food and service. In comparison to Thunder Valley's and Hard Rock's steakhouses, Red Hawk's Henry's Steakhouse comes in last place. It looks like a somewhat nice steakhouse, but the service is not there. I think I've had better service at Denny's. The staff are not friendly/welcoming and they are inefficient. Bunch of wait staff walking around, yet no one refilling water or clearing plates promptly. 3 stars is mostly because the prime rib, tempura asparagus, and loaded baked potato were tasty. The bread was a kind of weird texture. The Caesar salad was standard. The crab cakes did not taste fresh and the sauce and slaw were weird. The bite of lobster I had was good enough, though the waitress forgot the melted butter initially. The dessert was decent, but you can't really go wrong with ice cream and cake. Big changes at the steakhouse at Red Hawk. Henrys has always been inconsistent and they continue to be as one of their top servers. Nick is no longer working in the steakhouse. He really gave the steakhouse an old time flare and made for an amazing dining. He was the sharpest server with a lot of experience and great knowledge of wine. He's working in another restaurant and I was disappointed to see him not at Henry's. What a great guy - amazing stories, and amazing service. They need to bring him back. I didn't. Anyone can take an order and serve food, but the charisma and personality that he brought to your table will be missed. Well, I look forward to the new menu items at Henry's, I still wish they'd move Nick back into Henri steakhouse to provide an excellent fine dynamic experience. The ribeye was super tasty! Super juicy and cooked well! We added blue cheese to it and it was fire. Came with garlic butter and they didn't skimp out on the garlic. They gave a generous amount of mashed potatoes too! The shrimp chimichurri cocktail is amazing. The chips are crispy, the sauce is well distributed and it comes with avocado! Winning!
