It's been a couple years since, returning to Old Town Grill: I was hoping the LAMB Burger was on the regular menu and also, listed on the special menu; however, the lamb burger was absent from both menus. I've been eating here for awhile. I've always liked their food, but the one thing that held me back was the burger buns weren't all that great. They had a tendency to fall apart. I am happy to say that has changed. They have a new bun that makes the burgers here a 5. The buns are soft, chewy, and they hold together to the last bite. The meat, top notch. Most excellent. Really enjoyed this little gem on Main Street in Placerville. Charming cozy little place. You kind of feel like you're in someone's cottage. Service was excellent. Very friendly and well informed staff. Sierra, the parrot, was one cool bird! My little one enjoyed her company. The food was terrific. Two people ordered burgers and they were delicious. Two people ordered chicken fingers and those were really tasty and unique! They were different than what you would typically find in other places and I dig that! I mean, let's face it, chicken fingers/tenders/nuggets tend to be pretty similar at most places so preparing them in a way that's different and stands out.. kudos to you! And your honey mustard that it was served with was quite delicious too. I'm not a honey mustard person so that says a lot. I ordered John Studebaker's wheel. This is a Polish sausage sandwich and it was everything I wanted it to be. It was perfect. I must mention that the sides that came out with everything were so nicely prepared as well. The fries, the side salad, and the chili... all prepared so thoughtfully. Love this. My only bone to pick was that the chili could've been served a little bit warmer. Outside of that everything was wonderful and it was a great experience. I wish this place was closer to home because this is exactly the type of place I would eat at all the time if it was in my neighborhood. Easily the best burger in town. If I'm coming through Placerville I've got to stop at Old Town Grill. The food is fresh and made with love. The owner John is an incredibly nice man who will remember your name for years and greet you kindly upon walking in on days he is working. The bacon blue cheese burger is a personal favorite. The outdoor seating area is well shaded and lovely. The decor is eclectic and the live parrot living inside the restaurant may not be for everyone but it certainly adds to the unique local charm of the restaurant. This is the lunch spot in Placerville. Don't let the lines scare you away, service is fast and the food is more than worth the wait. read more

I have come here a handful of times & I have never been disappointed with the food here. It seems like a hole in the wall kinda place but don't be fooled by its appearance. The food is DELICIOUS! I ordered the Old Town Dog - a spiral cut hot dog eaten on a hamburger bun. It is delicious; plus the side of fries were bomb. The Chicken Salad was really good - an interesting assortment of fruits & veggies & very fresh. The sweet potato dollops, same thing, with a nice sauce drizzled on top. I got the old town burger, which is just the most basic burger they have, & it was not lacking at all. Very good burger! Even for being just the basic. Well cooked & flavored. Hit the spot. My one negative is that they don't have ranch :( but fortunately the food is good enough on its own. I was torn between the regular old town burger and getting the stuffed burger, which has mushroom, garlic & feta, but I chickened out & kept it basic. Next time I'll try the stuffed for sure! I recommend the "Beast Burger" if they have it on their daily special (but even if you get a cheeseburger off the regular menu your taste buds will thank you!!). John and his crew do an amazing job. We were wandering along Main Street and asked a saleswoman in a jewelry store for a recommendation. Her first thought was Old Town. We found it easily. You order at the front and then choose from the inside dining area or the outside patio. Your server brings your food. We had stuffed hamburger and chicken. Both selections were excellent. There are about six sides to choose from. Pasta salad was full of veges and a tasty, but not too salty, dressing. Fries looked and tasted fresh. Our server Evie was sweet and efficient. I'm still trying to get used to a $15 burger, but that is the going rate for an excellent lunch! Try this cool little cafe! read more

THE BEST BURGERS. It was snowing in Placerville and we wanted to find a new place to try. We stumbled on reviews for Old Town Grill and were hoping for a good meal. When we walked in, it smelled amazing. That whiff of "Hi, we make good burgers" hits you in the face. Behind the counter, you can find bright smiles welcoming you in and asking if you'd like suggestions. I always love tips and suggestions. It was between the elk burger and the stuffed burger. I was tempted to go elk but was told that the stuffed burger is a winner. THEY WERE RIGHT. That stuffed burger had SO MUCH FLAVOR. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and couldn't stop raving about the char on the burger. I took a bite and immediately understood his claims. We sat in front of the window and watched the flurries with our two children while we ate the most delicious burgers we'd had in a while. It felt like a hallmark moment. My friends and I came here after going camping in the area. They have gluten free buns for their sandwiches which I was happy to find out! I had a Dijon chicken sandwhich that I thought was pretty good. The fries and sweet potato dollops were very very good. I would come back just to eat the sweet potato dollops again! It was like mashed sweet potatoes put into balls and then fried. My friends got various burgers and everyone seemed happy with their food! Dogs are allowed on the back patio.
