Cheese fries so good
Sara R.

I thought I had reviewed this restaurant before but I guess not, only added pictures. First time I went was several years ago based on my pictures I added. Said 4 years ago. I remember from that time, they were not open a lot and had weird hours. I think because of Covid maybe? Idk. Anyways, I really enjoyed the food at that time. I don't remember details but I do remember I liked it enough to want to come back. Between then and now I wasn't able to make it back for whatever reasons. But about a month ago my husband and I came up to Placerville. We had planned to eat somewhere else but they were closed at t the time. I remembered we had been here before so I suggested we go back. This time everything was more of a miss than a hit. I got cheese fries, and a bbq chicken sandwich. I wanted fried mushrooms but was told they don't have them anymore. The cheese fries were not like before. I remember last time. This time was significantly less cheese. The fries itself were not that great. Was disappointed with these. The chicken sandwich I had was weird. The chicken texture was off. Have had better and worse. It wasn't something to rave about. But I wasn't going to waste it so I ate it and shared with my dog. My husband got a bacon burger. Had to pay extra for tomato that I feel is standard on a burger. But it's fine. He also got an order of fried zucchini. He enjoyed the zucchini. Said his burger was fine. Again not amazing but not horrible. Would I come back here again? I'm not sure. I feel like the food quality was down from our original visit. Prices went up which is understandable, but I feel like the quality should go up as well or at least remain the same. If I did come back I would probably try something else. The chicken was just not it.

Fast and great food. I have yet to order something I haven't liked! Try the hotdogs and the Western BLT deluxe. The fries are great too.

So I use to go to the original Shoestring in Arleta when they closed down I was so sad. Then lo and behold FB group some people said the owners moved up north and opened another location. Well I made sure we went to check it out. My childhood memories were brought back to life and tasted just as I remember. It was absolutely amazingly delicious. Thank you for giving me back a bit of my childhood nostalgia

i've eaten at shoestring twice now, and it is so consistently delicious! the staff are always so friendly and make you feel like part of their family. tons of covered seating inside and on the other side of the restaurant. there's also plenty of parking -- ideal for a quick stop on your way to tahoe! an absolute must if you're in the area. everything on the menu is delicious!

The staff are, to a person, friendly and professional, and I always feel welcome and appreciated. That one experience long ago must have been a fluke.

Hubs and I are in town visiting and decided on Brick's for dinner tonight. We called ahead to ask…read moreif they take reservations. They do not, however they do something called a "fast pass" which basically means they put your name down and if you arrive while there's a wait, you get seated before anyone else who is waiting and does not have a fast pass. Kind of a different approach. I was glad that when we arrived, there wasn't anyone else waiting and there were tables available. Service was very attentive and friendly. He took our drink orders and allowed us some time to decide what to eat. Hubs and I both debated between multiple options- a lot sounded so good- but we both decided on the filet mignon. On the menu, it indicated that the dish comes with a béarnaise sauce; my husband really doesn't care for tarragon so he requested a substitution of their mushroom rosemary sauce instead (which is offered with their ribeye), and they happily obliged. The meal also included Yukon mashed potatoes and veggies. Our food was delivered soon after and I was pleasantly surprised that not only were our steaks still very warm but that they were cooked a perfect medium rare. The quality of the steaks was great, they were nice and thick. The veggies were, for the most part, overdone and a bit soggy, but that's not something that bothers me too much. The potatoes had good flavor but could have used much more milk/cream as they were pretty dry and firm. The experience was a good one and I would definitely return if we lived closer. I liked that their menu had a lot to offer- this is a good place for a family who has various tastes. Shout out to our server, Carver, who was great and provided very good service.

OK, we've been around Placerville for five years and I've never stopped and checked this place out…read more It's kind of hidden and you can definitely walk past it and miss it.. but we stopped by today cause we were craving sandwiches and let me tell you their selection is definitely different but their sandwiches are 15 out of 10. The owner is there working like a badass and he's got such rad staff !! Go get yourself a sando! Caution, though, if you are not somebody who is open-minded with food or a foodie stay away because these sandwiches are different and they're big and they're just amazing

Stopped by this sandwich shop on the way up to Apple Hill. Saw the Yelp reviews and looked…read morepromising. It's basically a walk up in a small plaza with some tables. Cute spot. Definitely good for people watching. Got a couple sandwiches: Banh Mi - seeing the list of ingredients I was excited for this one. Never seen a place use lap chung in banh mi. The sandwich itself was kind of underwhelming. First of all, it's not on a French roll. Because of this, the moisture from the slaw soaked the entire bottom bun, making it difficult to eat. Also, the lap chung was slice into small coin sized pieces, rather than lengthwise, which means it all fell out when you tried to eat the sandwich. All the ingredients inside pretty much masked the taste of the sausage so you really didn't get the taste. I didn't get how this was supposed to be a banh mi. Honey Walnut - this was ok. Kind of standard honey walnut. In theory this sounded great but it's a tad rich and needs something to cut through it. There were a ton of other sandwiches and maybe we should've tried others but for the two we got it was just alright.

Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

Welp~for my birthday luncheon, I inhaled French onion soup which was awesomely delectable; moreover, I must mention the fish n' chips' serving portion was larger than my face~lol, i.e., the fish was fried perfectly possessing a super crunchy crust. Moreover, my family and I are Franny's Farm Table's returning guests times five visits and counting. Every visit proved as enjoyable, the service rendered is very accommodating especially, when serving six family members . . . Comically, there are two family members out of six who are energetically, passionately rambunctious who engage in spilling liquids and squirting sauces where the sauces shouldn't be landing anywhere but, on their plates, indeed. Finally and best of all, Franny's Farm Table's ambiance isn't pretentious; the restaurant feels like "just down home" atmosphere which is very comforting to the two energetically, passionately rambunctious family members~lol.

I love them as a sandwich joint so wanted to try them out for dinners…read more I really enjoyed the burger. Asked for sauce on the side and sauce came on it so BD couldn't have a bite which was fine because I didn't want to share. No chicken wings that night which was a bummer as I really wanted to try it. Pork Chile verde was tender with big chunks. BD said he wished there was more sauce or maybe more sauce taste because if It was saucier it would be sloppy. He enjoyed the chicken mole but I didn't care for it. Wished there was more toppings on the tacos? It was just meat and tortilla. They did give us sour cream and pico on the side. I want the cheese and onion and cilantro and lettuce. But all in all glad we tried it! Wait was a little long as it's made to order and maybe we had a big order before us? While dude (was it Max?) was really polite to us and chick was super helpful too, their interaction was a little weird. It almost seemed like he was a little aggressive with her. Like maybe she was moving too slow? He would tell her in this exasperated way to do something (flip the chicken, get the water et) like he had told her 20 times already but I only heard him ask her once. Then he would turn to us and be super formal. Then turn back to her and rush her to do something else. Then give us our receipt in a quiet and calm manner. So much back and forth I was cool with just waiting outside. I'd come back for the burgers. Would def come back for the sandwich.
