My family and I went to Tahoe so on our way back we stopped in Placerville. We decided to try this place. The restaurant feels like you are walking into an old fashioned diner. The food was not really what I was expecting. I was thinking of authentic comfort diner food. But it definitely didn't reach that expectation. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner with minestrone soup, French fries, and the bread basket. The Minestrone soup was good and warm. The Chicken Fried Steak was overcooked and the gravy on top was ok. The fries were good and so was the bread basket. This meal was definitely not worth the price. The Corned Beef Reuben was really good. The potato salad on the side was yummy and paired nicely with the sandwiches. The Chicken Parmesan dinner was ok. The Fettuccine Alfredo was bland. The chicken felt like it had too much flour. The Monte Cristo was delicious. It paired beautifully with the raspberry jam. The jam really brought all the flavors together in a flavorful way. The Garden Skillet was ok. It was nothing special just potatoes, eggs, and vegetables. The Sourdough Bacon Cheeseburger was appetizing. The Pancake Combo was ok. The pancakes tasted like boxed pancake mix. The service was friendly and helpful.

We have been here for lunches or brunches over the past few years. Convenient location and a large dining floor with friendly service. The food is consistently good for diner food. This is not fine dining, but they know their lane. You will get a sufficient amount of food for the price and for me, their biscuits and gravy are very good.

Came across this diner style like restaurant in old town Placerville. I love all the vintage decor they have in there. There's a lot to look at and admire, from the entrance to the seating area, it's all over. Our server was amazing. I believe her name is Kylie, she has black hair and it was in a long French braid. The food was okay. We ordered the seafood platter and the buttercup original ribeye country chicken fried steak and eggs (interestingly called chicken fried steak when there's no chicken). The seafood platter had fried fish, clams, calamari, and shrimps. The fried fish was perfectly fried, everything else was over fried or the oil wasn't good. The country fried steak was over fried and a bit dry, almost tasted like jerky ): the over easy eggs and the country potatoes were good. Their cornbread and blueberry lemon glazed bread were also on the dry side. They have a pretty big menu and the food options come with good variety of sides to choose from. Overall the food was meh, but again, great ambiance and service.

This place was delicious! We had a nice time on the patio, the host let us have our dog out there which was so nice. our waitress was sweet and kind! she forgot about us for a second but was so sorry and very attentive after that to us and one other table on the patio. it was also so busy so we obviously understood Would go here!

This place is absolutely adorable! The antique decorations give this restaurant a Time Machine kind of vibe. Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive. We stopped here on our way back from a backpacking trip so we were hungry! The menu was huge! Classics diner style. I opted for a cheese omelet with hash browns and a side of strawberry pancakes. It was delicious! Real cheddar cheese in the omelette. The strawberries were fresh cut and delicious. My husband got the chicken avocado melt with fries and I had a bite. The sourdough bread was thick and the perfect texture. Such a yummy sandwich! The fries were good but not the best, hence why I took one star away. They were not crispy enough for my taste. Our friends got burgers and said they were delicious! I want to come back and try the giant cinnamon rolls. Highly recommend this restaurant for good old fashioned stick to your ribs cooking. I will definitely be back!

This is a cute breakfast spot. The decor alone will keep you busy! Went in on a Sunday morning, it was a short wait, our server took care of us right away. I can best describe this place as a classic American breakfast. The food was great, our food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I noticed there was a lot of families dining; it felt like a great spot to for a family reunion.

Hubby and I came here after a disastrous morning and had a very reenergizing and pleasant breakfast. Great food (with the exception of slightly overcooked sausage and this bacon). Great service by Kylie. Highly recommend for anyone looking for breakfast. Quality of service: A++ Quality of food: A+ Price: $-$$ (very reasonable and won't put a hole in your wallet) Recommendation: biscuit and gravy is DELISH

Apple dumplings are a definite MUST here! Very unique, creative and tasty. A candy apple inside a pastry. I'll never leave Placer without stopping by to get some to-go! Cinnamon roll was good too.

Independently owned restaurant in downtown Placerville that is full of fun memorabilia. It's a great place for breakfast we had the classic with eggs and bacon. Friendly service with a local feeling.

Celebrating my daughter in laws birthday we went to breakfast. The only criteria was chicken fried steak and eggs. Quick yelp search and off we went. Everyone was happy with the food. Parking is a bit of a pain if they are busy. Service was friendly and prompt. The decor is cute. I would come again when in the area.

My partner and I came in Sunday morning for my birthday breakfast and this is now hands down our new favorite breakfast spot. We were looking for a restaurant to stop at that's close to Apple Hill since that's why we planned to be in their area and this was one that popped up. I am SO happy this is the one we ended up choosing because they did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is so cute I love all the teapot and different fun things they had everywhere. The service was amazing. And the food was absolutely delicious. My fiancé got the Irish Benedict. I got the Garden Scramble and added meat and avocado. Everything was amazing. This was the best first stop of our day. We 100% will be coming back, I highly recommend :)

We arrived and while the place was busy, we were seated right away at a table of our choosing. We both went back and forth about what to order, so many things sounded good. My husband opted for their classic egg Benny and I did a two egg (over easy) breakfast with a burger patty, country potatoes, and sourdough toast. Eggs with a burger patty is a breakfast I eat very often and I love it- kind of like a poor man's version of steak and eggs. Food arrived in an acceptable amount of time. Hubby's eggs Benedict looked great. As soon as they set my plate down, I knew I'd made a mistake. That burger patty was clearly a pre-made frozen one and just looked so sad. I barely managed a few bites of it. Absolutely no flavor or seasoning, still tasted awful after I heavily salted and peppered it myself. The meat was like pure mush. Worst excuse for a burger patty I've ever had. It honestly kind of turned my appetite a bit. Thankfully my eggs were cooked very well and the toast was good. Potatoes were decent, though a bit on the cold side when they arrived. My husband seemed to enjoy his meal but said the hollandaise was a tad watery. Giving this place 3 stars because the service was really nice. I have a feeling a lot of the other things on their menu would be great. But lord, that burger was absolutely pitiful.

Reviewed the menu and after asking the waitress if the…read morechicken fried steak was homemade I opted for it because if it wasn't I would have passed and got something else that would have been freshly made. The only thing freshly made on the dish were the "two" eggs which - more like one. The gravy and the chicken fried steak were not homemade, it was a frozen patty. You could also see that it was cooked on the flattop. Horrible, process taste. If I hadn't asked I would not be judging so harshly but I did ask. Also the service was cold - not warm at all. My wife got steak and eggs and the steak was supposed to be filet according to the menu - not even close. If it was it was filet scraps and it wasn't even seasoned and was also cooked on a flattop, more like jerky. Lastly, to pay $50 for this type of experience, sadly, not worth it. The high yelp score is misleading.

Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

The pitfalls of the restaurant seem to be entirely the service. Most recently we went to Franny's on Mother's Day. We had reservations and walked in, on time. We were initially sat in a nice booth in the front of the restaurant. It was my wife and I plus our 2 kids, the table size seemed appropriate. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.

For those of you looking for that caffeine fix and wish to venture out of the Sacramento area,…read more"Love Birds Coffee & Tea Co." will have you covered. Ever since their opening back in 2016, this has been a wildly popular spot to enjoy inside or on-the-go with their convenient drive-thru. Located right next to a Quik Stop gas station and a Subway, this place is conveniently at the corner of Diamond Rd (Highway 49) and Pleasant Valley Rd in the small community of Diamond Springs. I also wanted to mention that they have very generous hours of operation being opened Monday through Saturday from 5:30am to 4:30pm while being closed on Sunday. I ended up coming here during the afternoon of Saturday 6/15/2024 at around 2:15pm. Since this was well past the morning rush, there were no other customers inside and not a single vehicle parked directly outside. As far as the exterior layout, it uses freestanding rocks which gives it a castle-like appearance. The interior though is very impressive as they've utilized the walls with floral-type balconies, a large painting with more floral arrangements surrounding it, and vintage furniture which has a very nostalgic look as if you've stepped back in time. I also wanted to point out that there is a spacious outdoor sitting area for the most comfortable days. First and foremost, the menu here is quite impressive with a huge selection of coffees, espressos, teas, quenchers, blended drinks, and smoothies. They also carry a nice assortment of breakfast sandwiches, bagels, burritos, croissants, and crepes. And for the lunch crowd, they even offer pizza, pasta, soup, and traditional sandwiches. I ended up ordering a slice of their pepperoni pizza with a small mango smoothie while my significant other went with a bacon, egg, & cheddar bagel with an iced Americano. Our drinks were ready within a couple minutes while our food came shortly thereafter. I will say that the mango smoothie was delicious as it was refreshing without being too overbearingly sweet. However, the pizza was just okay for me as it was a bit on the soggy side and not too crisp. Same goes with the bagel as there were more small clumps of bacon (instead of full-cut bacon). And the eggs, they resembled more of a processed scramble egg with a perfectly cut square; I have a feeling it might be frozen and heated to save time. However, the bagel was good and had nice texture to it. Still at $10 for the breakfast bagel, this was a bit on the pricier side. All in all, "Love Birds Coffee & Tea Co." is a decent place that has a lot of character and charm to it. The young staff working here were very kind, courteous, and accommodating while the ambiance is definitely a home run in my book. I'd stick with the coffee as this is their strong point. But for a stop before work or even if you're heading to Tahoe or the foothills, this is a decent above average business. My rating, four stars.

So if you like those Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes, then you would like sitting next to the mine for sure. It's roped off but you can hear the water dripping and it is naturally cool. The structure was originally built as a hotel in 1853 and has been well preserved. I ordered their Smith Flat House salad ($10) and the Jambalaya Risotto ($34) which consisted of Cajun-marinated prawns, lobster meat, Andouille sausage, grilled sweet corn with saffron chicken risotto. Definitely had a bit of a kick to it, the risotto was done well. My pet peeve is mushy risotto, it needs to have a slight bite to it which this one had thankfully. Love the fact that this place serves up local wines -- I couldn't recall the wine I had and they do not have their wine menu on their website. If you have the opportunity to visit, I'd recommend a glass of red from Starfield (winery up the road).
