Such a cute little spot in Placerville! It was really cozy and charming! Staff were really friendly and welcoming! We came with a party of 6 on a Thursday for brunch and was seated right away. It seems like it definitely gets busy, especially the weekends! The portions were HUGE. Everyone was stuffed! My toddler especially loved the warmed blueberry bran muffin -- toddler approved. The muffins seem to go fast, since people seem to stop by just to their pastries. We ordered some with our meal, and later my in-law decided they wanted one to-go, but they were already sold out. I got the quiche and it was really delicious. It was a little heavier on the cheese for my personal taste, but still really good and I enjoyed it. I also had leftovers! We also tried the blueberry pancake, which was fluffy and full of blueberries! I was pleasantly surprised because many places skimp on blueberries, but this was loaded! It was perfect! Wow was blown away by our breakfast stop! I've probably driven by a million times but have never stopped in glad we did it was delicious. Our table opted for a variety of items. We choose to sit outside and it was nice to take in the fresh outdoors. They provide tables with umbrellas and on the day we attended there was a nice breeze. Our third visit, after the first two were less than enjoyable. Our mistake. We were seated in a small table right off a busy doorway. We ordered coffee and a mimosa, pancake, eggs, and bacon, avocado, toast, & hash-browns. We didn't see our server again for at least 45 minutes. We watched as the restaurant emptied and reset with new customers. The customers that were seated after us, finished eating and were presented their checks before we were delivered food. From what we can surmise, our server went on a break and forgot to enter the order. We wanted to ask the other servers walking past us, if they'd seen our server or food, but they just avoided eye contact and avoided us like we were infected with Covid. I wanted to scream, HEY SWEETIE , (or is it Pie?) We just want our greasy-ass, over-priced, low-rent sweetie pie fiddles! Anyway, when the food did arrive, it was cold, the order, incorrect. Toast, rock hard. The hashbrowns, (if thats what they were?), resembled some kind of potato, flat cake hillbilly naan. It was burnt and undercooked, (I still can't figure out how that was possible?) Meanwhile, still no server! When she did wander back, she was completely clueless of our sadness at missing the incredible delicacy only found at the sweetie pie . She assumed the service was top notched, acting as if she dropped a 10 star breakfast dime on us. In my life, I've never failed to leave a tip. Like NEVER! I eat at out at least five times a week. We stopped in for a quick visit while meeting up with family and grabbed some pastries to go. I got an apple turnover and a pecan cinnamon roll that was bigger than my hand--enormous and absolutely delicious. My dad went for coffee, a cherry turnover, and an apple turnover, and he was equally impressed. We didn't stay to dine in, but walking through the restaurant, we couldn't help but notice how tempting everyone's food looked on their plates--hearty, homemade, and straight-up drool-worthy. It was honestly hard not to cancel our plans and sit down to eat. The staff was sweet, the vibe was charming, and the whole place had that "welcome home" energy. You know, I really was hoping to give this spot more stars but my experience was just ok with some highs and some lows. Our waitress was super nice and sweet but I'm not sure if she was a bit overwhelmed but there were a few issues. I ordered the Spanish omelette with hash browns. Not only did our food take forever but she forgot the sour cream for my omelette and gave me regular potatoes instead of hash browns. I was starving and already waited forever that it wasn't worth sending back. Apparently the cook initially even forgot the sausage in my omelette as well so he had to add it which delayed it even more. Our pancake that we ordered to shared didn't come until we were more than half way done with our meal. The pancake was yummy. When it came to pay my bill said one thing but I was charged something else, when asked she said she forgot to add the pancake on the original receipt but charged me for it. First the biscuits were good - very fluffy and had great texture that worked well with the gravy. My only knock is the gravy could have been seasoned better. It lacked flavor but the consistency was good. It's good but not the best I've had. The pancake though was OUTSTANDING!!! It had a crispy cook too it and the inside was fluffy and the flavor was delicious. They gave you plenty of butter and syrup and honestly the pancake was sooo good that it didn't need syrup. We walked in with 3 adults and 4 kids. I looked around and half the restaurant was empty. We waited quite awhile before anyone greeted us. When we told them we had 7 people, they looked us up and down and said it would be a 45 minute wait despite the 7 open tables I counted with 3 other tables finishing up. My partner enjoyed a pancake the size of a catcher's mitt. The syrup comes to your table warm, which is a nice touch. The dining room is cute with a farmhouse environmentt. There is also an outdoor patio along Main Street. The place gets packed on weekends, but offers coffee while you wait. Service is fast and personable, providing a very natural small-town feel.
