Enchanted Forest was definitely an experience, though I'm still not sure it was one I enjoyed as much as I had hoped. After seeing countless videos on social media, I was excited to finally visit this unique and whimsical-looking restaurant for Mother's Day lunch. Unfortunately, the experience got off to a disappointing start. When making the reservation, I was never informed that the restaurant would only be offering a limited Mother's Day menu. By the time we were seated and learned there were only five menu options available, with no access to the regular brunch menu, it was too late to make alternative plans. Not wanting to spend the holiday scrambling for another restaurant, we decided to stay and make the best of it. For the price, the food was underwhelming. Most of the dishes were mediocre, and my filet was noticeably overcooked. I had specifically been looking forward to trying items from their brunch menu, so finding out it wasn't available was disappointing. The cocktails were visually appealing but overly sweet and lacked balance. Another disappointment was the seating. Despite making reservations in advance, we were not seated in one of the restaurant's signature enchanted booths. To be fair, there are only three of these themed booths in the entire restaurant. The rest of the dining room felt somewhat dated and cluttered with dusty artificial plants. The overall atmosphere didn't quite match the magical experience portrayed online and on social media. The staff did make an effort to celebrate Mother's Day by giving moms elf ears and light-up tiaras, which was a fun touch and added to the theme. In the end, I left feeling disappointed. The concept and marketing create high expectations, but the food, seating experience, and overall value didn't quite live up to the hype. While the restaurant certainly offers a unique theme, my experience fell short of what I was expecting, and I'm not sure I would be motivated to return. read more

This place is SO cool and unlike anything I've ever experienced. The second you walk in you get a light up headband, there's live Renaissance music playing, and the decor is completely over the top fairytale vibes everywhere you look... even the bathrooms look like you're in an actual forest, which is insane. We were lucky enough to get one of the forest booths and it really feels like you're sitting inside an enchanted woodland. Absolutely loved it and would go back in a heartbeat for the ambiance. For food and drinks -- the mead flight is so fun and I loved the honey flavor. The original mead was my favorite. The chicken pasty pie is a must -- get one for yourself, don't share it. Trust me. The fondue was a fun group experience but I honestly wouldn't recommend it for the food itself...the ingredients and sauces were below average and expensive for a group. Some of the wait staff really got into the theme, wearing elf ears as we were served under a forest lit night scape with twinkling lights everywhere. We were also given colorful lit crowns as part of the fun. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and had a nice conversation with us. They have themed drinks, which I typically do NOT enjoy, but the poison apple drink was perfect. Just enough bourbon and fruit flavors mixed...very good. The food was good...I simply chose wrong. The baked brie appetizer was very good, as were the various fruit compotes and chutneys to dip it in. The pasties, on the other hand....just tasted of bland meat mixed with fried spices in a puff pastry. Not very good. My wife's steak, however, was cooked perfectly, and she gulped down the shrimp. I've been meaning to try this place and finally got to go with my girlfriends for my birthday. It's a very cute fairy forest theme. The server was very friendly and attentive. The steak was super moist and delicious but the salmon was a little too sweet and the corned beef pasty was a little too dry. Overall, it was a great experience especially for birthdays bc they give out a piece of delicious chocolate cake with happy birthday written on the plate. Great food and fun experience at Enchanted Forest. We were given fairy light crowns to wear right away which were super cute. We had the Prosciutto Bacon Wrapped Asparagus starter and Three Course Fondue. The Cheese Fondue with Gouda was tasty and complex. The Main Fondue with steak, shrimp, grilled chicken and meatballs was delicious, and the dark chocolate fondue dessert was perfect with the fruit but too sweet when paired with the cookies and treats. What a gem and memorable experience for my family! Have kids? This is a one in a lifetime experience and would very highly recommend it at least once if you're able to (priorities first!). Magical ambience with lights twinkling in a forest enchantment environment. Biggest tip I can offer? Make a reservation ahead of time and don't settle for regular table seating - keep looking through each day and the multiple time slots for a seating at their magical table experiences. We were fortunate to sit at their Fun Nature Fort Booths. No difference in service or anything like that, it's just that you'll get to have booth side tables with a towering curved leafy vine above you with a warm lantern lighting your way.. through the forest.. of fairy time enchantment. And if your kids (or yourself) have a heightened imagination (or they just can't sit still), you'll be glad to have those booths. They give you magical crowns that light up! And yes, you get to keep them so don't throw them away or leave them behind. Service was fantastic, food was simply delicious and absolutely amazing, main dining room was a magical experience, and their bathrooms were quite a surprise! Pictures are worth a thousand words - aaaand I'll leave it at that. Drinks. Must try - Forest Flight of Meads where you get 5 flavors infused with deliciousness. Our favorite was Chai! Oh so good! But NOT a fan of the Apple flavored. Also had Fairytini and Lavendar Leprechaun - both of which helped us forget our toddlers for a moment. Food. Forest and Sea - hands down winner! Filet mignon (medium rare), scallops, and shrimp cooked to perfection. Popular order is the boneless braised beef short ribs - super soft, mouth savory, but just not my cup of tea. If you're into braised beef, though, then you're going to love it! If ever, would love to try their Irish gold miner's pasty pie.. looks like an entree for coming champions. Maybe grow a tuft of chest hair with each bite? Appetizers we had were Lobster Seafood Bisque soup (bowl) and Irish Whiskey Shrimp - both were top notch glory enchantments! Dessert. Blackberry key lime pie. Trust me on this. Each bite with a flavor explosion of blackberries and lime.. incredible! Parking. Good luck with this. I know there're time limitations but luckily no meter maid that day.. I don't think it's enforced much but just keep in mind there are time limits. Street parking if you're lucky, otherwise it might be a bit of a walk for ya. The setting and theme are fun and well-executed, including a complimentary light-up 'crown' for each of us. Even the surrounding area was cute and lit up for the holidays, and parking was a breeze in the garage one block over. Service was friendly, although a few more visits to the table to tend to refills would have been appreciated. As for the food, my daughter has one or two restrictions, and the restaurant was out of the one item she had planned to order. It happens, and it's no one's fault really, but it was disappointing. For the price, portions were smaller than expected. I had the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly! I suspect it had been prepared sous vide (which is fine!), but the texture and appearance would have been improved vastly with a quick, hot sear. My dining companions seemed to enjoy their food, but a common refrain was about under-seasoned food, especially the mashed potatoes. They were creamy, but bland. The chocolate fondue was a HUGE hit, and may just be the thing we come back for. This restaurant was definitely enjoyable for a one-time special occasion, and with just a little more attention to the food and flavor, I'd happily recommend this enchanted gem. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since seeing it on IG but it was quite a bit away so have been putting it off. We decided to suck it up and drive the 1.5hrs. First impression: very cute and cozy. I loved the greenery and wooded walls. A bit cramped once you go in and sit. Like I don't think they could add anything else. But the waiters can walk around and thats all that matters I guess. We got these cute floral headbands which I thought was fun. Our waitress was polite, took our orders quickly, told us about the specials and was attentive. The food was unfortunately not impressive. For apps we ordered lobster bisque and tapas. The soup we never received, the tapas they were out of one. The smoked salmon and goat cheese and apple were great! The prosciutto and fig was the one that was out and the baked brie we ordered 2 of. It was TERRIBLE. It tasted like raw feta (yuck!!) untoasted bread, some pickled something and idk what the white things were on it. Just bad. Nothing baked or brie about it. For entrees we had braised rib and one of the special pasty pies they had (steak and mushroom). My husband said the rib was mid. The steak and mushroom pasty was nothing special. Dessert was fluffy cheesecake and keylime pie. The cheesecake was great. Not overly sweet at all. Almost european in its taste of stronger cheese than sweetness. The key lime was very sweet tart and rich but good. All in all I enjoyed the aesthetic, the service was good, food came out quickly but the food was unfortunately not worth the drive/hype/price. Which sucks bc I feel like it started off good with apps and seemed promising. unfortunately the entrees were not great and that seems normal for these themed places. When we first learned about Enchanted Forest, we really wanted to check it our but regretfully it took their closing announcement to finally get us there. But good news, they aren't closing anymore! Enchanted Forest is a unique, charming experience with delicious food and excellent customer service. The restaurant is small but as you enter you are welcomed by fairies then further in emersed into the forest. We were able to get a Nature Fort Booth which seemed more magical than Under the Tree. The kids enjoyed the wooden and log designed cushions and lights on the table. The servers all have fairy ears and guests are given fairy lights which add to the experience. The menu is a bit short but there is something for everyone. My husband and I ordered the Irish Gold Miners Pie and Boneless Braised Beef Short Rib while the kids got the Three Course Experience with pizza and chicken on a stick. The presentation of the Irish Gold Miners Pie was pretty cool as it is topped with edible gold flakes. The outer crust was flaky and inside filled with corn beef and potatoes. My husband said it had good flavor and he was surprised by the large portion and how much filling was in the pie. The Braised Beef Short Rib was saucy, savory, tender and went really well with the mashed potatoes and vegetables. I could really taste the mead and garlic flavors in the beef. As for the kids' meals, they enjoyed their fresh fruit, the grilled chicken is just that; grilled chicken on a stick and pizza was just okay. The highlight of their meals was the mini fondue where they dipped fruits, marshmallows, and other treats in chocolate. A little pricey but the food is good and don't forget you are paying for an experience. The kids dressed as a wizard and fairy for extra fun. I have been to enchanted forest several times and I've had an amazing experience every time! The ambience is really what makes this restaurant, when you arrive you are given light up flower crowns which really enhance the experience and match the ambient lighting in the restaurant. The waitresses are always dressed up in ren faire attire which also adds to the experience, when I came here for my birthday last year they even had someone playing live music which was really cool. I've had the baked brie before which is delicious and has the perfect amount of balance with the crackers and good portion size. The stuff portebello mushroom are my go to entree each time, the lentils mixed with the cheese and plant based Italian sausage is so delicious plus I love that it comes with carrots and a side salad. I also love getting the mead flight and had one last year when I went for my birthday for this recent trip with my boyfriend I got their peach mead and it was soooo good. I know mead is considered a sweeter alcohol but I really like it. And getting the flight to share with my friends last year in May was perfect! For desert at my recent visit my boyfriend and I tried their decadent triple chocolate cake, it was perfect it was light and fluffy and not super dense like most chocolate cakes are. Ended our Apple Hill day with dinner here for our group of 6. We made sure to have reservations in advance and requested a booth table. We were seated immediately at a cozy roomy forest booth with a lit river table and throw pillows. The restaurant was packed and service was slow but we weren't in any rush. The ambiance was charming & magical. We all gleefully adorned our provided lit fairy headbands. Appreciated their diverse menu. Most of our group got a meat pasty, another had the scallops and caprese crepe was our final entree. Most included a dinner salad and were generous portions. Scallops were a tad overcooked but rest of our food was yummy. Sadly didn't save room for dessert. Overall, it was exactly what I expected and we found it delightful. What ruined the experience was the stale smell that hits you as soon as you come in. It's just so uninviting. Food was bland and didn't not look appealing. Short ribs were just ok. Macadamia crusted scallops were cold and nuts smelled old. Pot pie was delicious though. Most dishes we had were worth the overall price tag. I was really excited to find out about Enchanted Forest extending their lease. My friend and I immediately made reservations and decided to head up to Placerville. The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful and cozy. All of the staff was dressed so cute and they were all very nice. Our waiter had great service and was very attentive. The salad featured in this photo was really good. My friend also enjoyed her steak, mashed potatoes, and veggies as well. The chicken that I had added onto the salad (not in the pic) was not the best, which is why I gave a four out of five stars, but the salad itself was really good. I do believe the price is for the experience rather than the food. I love how they gave each customer a light up flower crown. This restaurant is a hidden gem. If it was located in San Francisco I feel like it would go viral online and become a crazy popular restaurant. I was captivated just from the sidewalk as I was looking for a place to have lunch with my friend during my first visit to placerville. We were warmly greeted with light up flower crowns (seriously!) and led inside this ethereal dining room to a lovely oak table. The servers were warm, friendly and professional and the meal was magical. There's beautiful footage of Ireland on the TVs with Irish music playing and it feels like a vacation. The menu is extensive with great options for every diet. I tried the butternut squash crepes which came with a salad and it was the most delicious meal I've ever had. Fun spot to take a kiddo, or for folks who want a different scene. Love the forest décor, tables with a ribbon of light, and fairy ears on the staff. Everyone gets a lighted flower crown, so you quickly feel part of the scene. Had the vegetable pasty, which was cheesy broccoli deliciousness. That plus the mashed potatoes makes for a hearty meal (actually, two meals). The kids meal grilled cheese is served on sourdough, which was a no go for the kiddo so if that's the case for you/yours, you may want to try another option (the pizza is a strong contender). So this place had been on my list forever . I'm so glad we finally made it . It was more than an hour drive but so worth it . I was looking for a unique dinning experience and we found it . I had a 7:30 reservation and arrived at 7:00. I let the hostess know we were early and still waiting for the rest of our party. She said our table would be ready and told us to check back in a bit. We returned around 7:15, and that's when things started to fall apart. She told us our table still wasn't ready but suggested we take a seat at the bar in the meantime. I looked around and noticed at least four or five empty tables. When I asked why we couldn't be seated at one of them, she explained that we had a specific table assigned. That already felt odd, but it got worse. A few minutes later, she returned and said the party at "our table" had just ordered their food and it could be another 20 to 40 minutes before we could sit. At this point, it was already 7:20, just ten minutes before our actual reservation time. She told us again we were welcome to eat at the bar. I politely pointed to the open table directly across from us and asked why we couldn't just sit there. She said someone had reserved that one for 7:45. I asked why we couldn't swap, let that guest have our table when it opened, and seat us at the available one. Her answer was simple: they don't do that. We were told our options were to either eat at the bar or leave. So we left. In all my years of dining out, I have never had a restaurant turn away a party with a valid reservation when there were open tables clearly available. This was the most rigid and customer-unfriendly seating policy I've ever experienced. No flexibility. No effort to find a solution. Just a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. I had high hopes for the ambiance, but honestly, it looked more like a makeshift wine bar with fake vines on the ceiling than anything close to an enchanted forest. It felt cramped, not magical. The menu looked fine, but I wasn't about to spend $60 to eat short ribs at a bar after being treated like an inconvenience. We didn't stay, and I won't be going back. If you're expecting a unique experience or thoughtful hospitality, I would look elsewhere. This was all style, no substance, and a complete failure in customer service. read more

The salad was good, I love that dressing,, and I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes. They had little pieces of potato in them, so you could tell that they were made from real potatoes. Very good. Because shepherds pie is made with lamb, the dish came with a mint jelly on the side. It was already good as it was, the mint jelly just put it over the top. The lamb was tender and delicious. However, the potatoes in the pastie were just a bit too al dente for my personal taste. Also, the crust, especially on the bottom, was a bit too brown for my personal taste. We made reservations online for lunch 1:30 PM. We also had a voucher from our gym of a buy one get one free entrée. I asked the hostess when he checked in if we would be able to use it and she said yes, but to please show it to our waitress. We were a few minutes early, so she asked us to wait. Another couple came in with also reservations at 1:30 and they were seated before us. A group came in for reservations at 1:00pm, they were 30 minutes late, and they were also seated. At 1:40 PM We are taken back to our table. When the waitress comes over, I show her our voucher and she says that it will not apply. We weren't really given a reason, just that they used to take it, but they don't anymore. There was no expiration date on it. We went ahead and ordered two entrées. After a few minutes, I decided that this just didn't sit right with me. I found the waitress and we canceled our order and left. First of all, if two parties have a reservation at 1:30 PM and one party arrives before the other one, the party that arrived first should be seated first. If the vouchers no longer apply at the establishment, then it is on said establishment to call all of the places that you have offered these vouchers to and let them know that they will no longer be honoring them. We made these reservations when they announced that they would be closing and now it seems that they are not closing. The waitress said that this was their busiest weekend ever since he had been open, because everybody made reservations thinking that they would be closing. Now they are not closing and hiring more staff and getting a full liquor license. We live locally and I have never been and I was really excited to try it out. The place is smallish, about 11 tables in main dining room and 1 towards the front; and there was bar seating. We had reservations and were taken back immediately. The themed menu, attire of staff, and decorations met the prompt. Lord of the Rings, medieval, fairy, elves times were reflected. Do not go here if you are hungry, this place is to get the experience. We hit In N Out on our way home. The food was okay but the wait time was worse! I got hangier by the minute! Other tables seated after us seemed to get their food before us. The twins ordered the lobster bisque and they enjoyed that and could have eaten more. We ordered the Irish whiskey shrimp and prosciutto wrapped asparagus. We liked those and wanted more. We tried the fondue; the main feast. And while there was a good array of meats offered it was not enough to satisfy our appetites! My husband got the Mead flight and he seemed to enjoy that. His favorites were the lemon and cranberry. My favorite was the Apricot. I got the Mystic Mango. It was served in a nice metal goblet. It was fruity and tasty but I could have had it sweeter. All in all the meal was good; but we've had better meals for the same price point. The gift shop next door offered a free gift and I chose the earth mat! Fairytale, sparkling wonder, foresty zen is what comes to mind in this enchanted land. So cute! Great job with the decor, even the restroom is decked out. Loved it! Definitely order the tapas baguettes. Our fav was the ghost cheese fig, I'd get all of those next time. Salmon was the least flavorful but still good. Sad that they didn't have the famous lobster kilt lifter, was looking forward to the lobster, dungeness, scallops, shrimp medley in an Irish whiskey buttercream sauce! Damn, drooling over the description! Their Irish gold pasty pie was good, would definitely go with any of their pasty pies. Service was friendly. Food took a while. Definitely make reservations as they fill up fast even during lunch on the weekends. read more

Great service, unique ambiance, and food was excellent. Wish I had made reservations ahead of time to get table seating. But bar was unique, and Marsha the bartender made it worth while as she was very friendly, engaging, and accomodating. She gave me and my date great food (portabello mushroom and the shepards chicekn pie) and drink suggestions that were on point. We will definitely be back. read more

My family and I had dinner at Enchanted Forest. The restaurant was a little warm for a June in Placerville. I had a chicken crepe with pesto and my daughter had the pizza. My husband had the short ribs which he lacked flavor. The crepe and pizza were good. Overall it was descent but I don't know if I will be making the hour drive back anytime soon. read more

Had been wanting to try this place for a couple years So finally made it up there yesterday as we were going to Red hawk casino...Just love the atmosphere and everything is so whimsical With all the little lights and tree branches on the ceiling and even the bar underneath looks like a mossy tree...plus waterfall tables that light up and some change colors. When We sat down the waitress, came to the table with these cute little headbands that had little flowers with lites. I really thought she was going to try to sell them to us but that's part of the Dining experience, and you get to keep them which I thought was a great touch...It was cute a couple of mothers in there with their little daughters. I know I would've loved going here at that age too. Ordered the large strawberry goat cheese salad... with added chicken And The chicken caprese crêpe that came with a side salad. The salad was so good and the chicken was excellent on it... Dressing was on the side and it was really good too. Strawberries, very fresh... Crêpe was good as we kind of shared the meals, but My only complaint would be that they need to make it more creamy inside with the pesto Mixed with smaller pieces of chicken... The part of crepe that was done right was good. The other part was hard to eat. Food Presentation and service were great...Definitely if you go during a busy time, I would make a reservation. read more
