Free entrance for a Phenomenal little place. They have vendors, a maze, animals, picnic areas, and lots of apple goodies. The apple donuts are warm and genuinely what dreams are made of. First off the service was great! The lady behind the counter at the Country Kitchen was super nice and friendly. But the Tri Tip sandwich was not it. It was cold, soggy and had no flavor. I highly recommend coming here during the fall months because of how many cool things are for sale. I enjoyed the holiday decor and Christmas displays like the train. When we arrived at Abel's we parked across the street in the lot and they had a lovely horse statue! That was pretty much the highlight for me. If you are a big Harry Potter fan, they did have some Harry Potter themed apples and I took a video but it's not uploading for some reason. The apples were cute but they had a much smaller variety of options than any other location in the area we visited. There just really wasn't much on offer here. They also really didn't have anything going on. We did come on a weekday so maybe that had something to do with it. They also advertise that they are dog friendly but you have to quickly walk your dog through the small store in the front to get to the small patio out back and the creaking deck did not make us feel safe. We left pretty quickly and we probably skip this location on our next visit but like I said, if you like Harry Potter you will probably want to make a quick stop here. read more

This was my first trip to Apple Hill and my second stop of the trip. We stopped here around noon. This stop is right off the road and an easy turn off. Parking was limited, but there were still some spots in the front parking lot because it was Tuesday. The main building seems to be historic/older and has sweet treats, pies, caramel apples, and holiday trinkets and souvenirs. Outside they have a deck with food options (we did not eat here) and the tritip sandwich looked really good! There were a lot of picnic benches on the deck with an overview of orchards and the kid area. The kid area was closed (Tuesday) but seemed to have pony rides and a maze when open. Prices seem quite good, and there are nice cozy cabana type seating places for small groups. A large outdoor patio is pleasant enough leading to a place for pizza, with a lower area with activities, including a wood maze. Came here at the end of September as part of my day in Apple Hill. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing stop. I have limited stomach space and a ton of foods I wanted to try. Based on online recommendations, this was going to be my "pie" stop. I got an apple dumpling with cider sauce and it was just so... mediocre. The crust wasn't particularly flakey, the filling was unremarkable, and the cider sauce was not very flavorful. I was so bummed! Definitely should have gone somewhere else. On the plus side, the back patio where you dine is nicely shaded. They have a big menu of non-apple food, which is good if you want a real meal rather than just apple sweets and drinks. And they have a outside station to fill up your water bottles. Dogs are allowed on the patio. I tied my dog up there while going to the inside window to order from the bake shop. This was my first trip to Abel's Apple Acres and it was worth the drive through the rain and cold from West Sacramento. My sister asked me to get her caramel apples. Abel Acres was the BEST spot to do so. The 3 different cases showed large apples in a variety of flavors: chocolate, caramel, fudge, peanut butter, even butter beer. And the toppings were equally as colorful: sprinkles, nuts, oreos and even little Sorting Hats on the butter beer ones. (Harry Potter fans, IFYKYK) As if that wasn't enough to get my sweet tooth going, they had a fudge display with an endless variety: chocolate mint, maple, pumpkin, cappucino and caramel apple, of course. Another display had different brittles, chocolate covered treats (oreas, nutter butters, rice krispies to name a few). Of course, they had apples cakes and pies (fresh and frozen) For me, the holy grail of this trip were the apple donuts. My friend who was visiting has never had an apple donut and was not prepared for the awesomeness that is the Apple Hill donut. The donut was hot and fresh, covered in cinnamon sugar. It was donut nirvana! We went on a cold and rainy day in September. I was hoping this would keep most people away, but Abel Acres was hoppin'. We got lucky and found parking close by, but the adjacent lot was pretty full. However, we were easily able to find seating. Personally, it wasn't an overwhelming crowd. Beautiful little stop in Apple Hill - so many cozy sitting areas and perfect for a small family to stop by, buy some treats, have lunch, and enjoy the fall. Staff is so nice and friendly, and the options for snacks and treats to shop around for are wonderful. Parking is a little bit limited in their front lot, but there are lots of folks in and out. There is a nice little local artisan/crafts walk connected to the store with plenty of small cute things for the family to browse. The apple cider donuts here are fantastic: lightly dusted with cinnamon sugar & crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside even with fresh diced apples in the batter (yum!!). Their apple cakes and apple butters are good and fairly priced, which makes it so much easier to get them for a holiday gathering. Service gets busy sometimes but overall it's good. Last year, one of the sweet staff members behind the counter was kind about correcting my drink purchase when the soda machines were temporarily down. Besides the bake shop, they also have more space in the back for enjoying food and activities for the kids (mining, pony rides, mini maze). I didn't mean to snack on an entire fritter by myself but I did, one might even call that a 'snaccident '; it was heated so the sugar was slightly caramelized and gave the fritter crispy edges. This is tough one because the farm itself wasn't necessarily the issue. The farm might not be able to control the vendors actions in totality but that said someone blew up my seven year old for accidentally running into his display. I was handling it telling my kid to be more careful and he apologized. Nothing was damaged the guy sells metal signs. He was pretty aggressive on the initial action but I felt that was heat of the moment and his business concern so no harm there. The issue was after while I was trying to teach my son why he needs to be more careful the dude starts yelling at him to apologize. Well he already had. I don't think you need to berate a seven year old and make him cry after the parents are dealing with the issue and again nothing broke and total accident. While that vendor is there we will not return. Luckily Boa Vista and pine of the mine were better experiences and more kid friendly. read more

Killer candy apples! Abel's has the best variety of candy apples on the block and they aren't your typical caramel apples. I'm talkin' peanut butter fudge, mud pie, toffee, and even apples dipped in sprinkles. Super unique flavors that will definitely catch your eye and your wallet. I got a chocolate fudge apple with walnuts and a caramel dipped apple with nuts, and both were delicious. I'm partial to the caramel apples because I'm a classic candy apple kinda gal, but the chocolate fudge with walnuts was still amazing. Abel's has a medium-ish sized orchard with decent food options, a few local vendors, a maze, and an animal farm. They also provide horseback rides and there's a nice grassy field where kids can feel free to run around and just be kids during the covid nightmare. Inside, they sell all kinds of baked goodies but they also have a chocolate counter. Ended up getting some yummy chocolate peanut butter truffles and apple butter. The apple butter tastes amazing! Had some on freshly baked biscuits about a week ago and it's truly delicious. Didn't purchase anything from the street vendors, but they had a nice showing. Mainly local crafts for sale. There are plenty of tables and lots of room to social distance. They even have some covered tables that are partitioned and separated off for privacy. Since this was my second farm stop, I ended up having lunch here. They actually have a pretty decent selection of food for purchase ranging from pizza, to barbecue, to fair food goodies. As soon as I walked into the place, all I could smell was garlic. You're damn right that I ordered garlic fries! And they were DELICIOUS! By the way... GET THE GARLIC FRIES! They are hella fresh and the portions are HUGE! Honestly, they can serve as a meal by themselves. Recommend splitting them if you can. I also had a corndog which comes with either chips or coleslaw. The coleslaw was decent, but the garlic fries were truly the winners here. I wouldn't say it was the best spot for lunch as I feel that Boa Vista, Rainbow Orchards, and High Hill Ranch offer a lot more food options. But for what it is, the food is still really good and filling. Pricey but it's lunch on Apple Hill and is to be expected. Good ok' fashioned family fun at Abel's Acres. This is a smaller stop in Apple Hill, but I'd venture to say they've likely got some of the best food offerings in the whole area. Let's start with the fun. Midweek there's really very little going on, but you can get an idea of what's happening once the weekend rolls around. There's a ton of parking, right in front and a big lot across the street. Walking in you'll find their store, with a big bakery window, country candy and other knicknacks, and a lot more. On the side of the building there are a lot of tents for various other vendors who are there on the weekends. Right out back is the little restaurant, and their menu looks good! Teriyaki makes up a lot of it, and there's a little Hawaiian flare to it too, plus some chalkboard specials and sauces and sides you can take home. Beyond that there's a little mining station. You can buy bags of dirt and take them to the area and pan them to uncover various rocks and minerals. They also have a little maze for the kiddos AND we found the only ponies in Apple Hill. You can't ride them, but they're friendly enough to stay close so you can pet em!
